Can't get wireless working in Portege R100

I recently acquired an R100 that had no hard drive in it. I installed a 40GB drive and downloaded the required drivers from the Toshiba website. Everything but the wireless works. All the other dirvers were self-install but the wireless was not. How do I get the wireless going? Thank you...DJ

Actually, I thought it was built-in.
I have looked on the bottom of the computer and opened all covers (hard drive, battery and RAM) and have not found any Lan card. Where would it be located, if I had one?
Also, there is no WLAN card listed in the Device Manager so I am assuming it isn't installed.

This set of configuration dosen't get connected to internet. The wirless indication light is on but not blinking.
I can manually bring it up by using
sudo netcfg hw
The other problem, which I guess is very common to linux users, is the wireless isn't waked up after resume from suspend. In my case, it can't be waked up even if I use the manual method. This is more important than to get it work on boot because I usually put my computer to sleep instead of power down when I am not using it.
I am trying Arch Linux on my old laptop, if it works well, I'll put it into my work desktop.

Can't get wireless working

so i setup arch on a dell 640m laptop last night to use as an encoding box so as not to slow down my main system. i usually have 2 desktops, but one is down at the moment due to a flood in this area. hence i needed a second system, so i set this thing up.
now, i've setup arch a million times, and every time i have to go through the wiki to jog my memory on the configurations. anyway, i swapped an intel 4965 wireless card in this laptop a while ago, this one usually runs windows and the card works.
i installed the 4965 modules, and wicd. and this is where the problem starts. i followed the steps for the configurations. and i can't seem to get wicd to find any networks. if i run lsmod, the modules are loaded. and if i run ifconfig -a the card is there. iwlist gives me no results.
now im looking at the wifi LED above the keyboard, and its off, so i think the problem is that i can;t get the card turned on to use it. so that seems to be where i need to start. anyone know anything about these things, since i need some help here? this is the only real problem i've had, so far i got everything else working great, except i find hdd and cdrom speeds to be rather on the slow side, but thats another thing

got a solution, not my ideal solution for power management though. but i disabled the hotkey in the bios, so the wireless stays on now

Can't get WiDi working on Portege R705 and Z930

So frustrating!
I had a Toshiba R705 (i3, from Best Buy in the US), which was very nice, until..
I then started to use it for scoring car rallies, and wanted to share my "results" screen with the large tv screen at the local football club where we run the events, so I bought a WiDi device (Netgear Push2Tv).
After several hours of trying to get the R705 to connect to the NetGear box, I installed the latest Intel Networking Wireless drivers, which became corrupt, and stopped all of my networking devices, so now the machine was useless.
I could not connect the PC to ANYTHING anymore, and I could'nt roll back the intel drivers so now my nice little laptop was as useless as a house brick. I got so angry I punched it and broke the screen. I then threw the laptop in the bin in disgust.
After calming down, I have now purchased a Satellite z930 Ultrabook, which is also very nice (and much faster).
Against my wifes best endeavours, I am now trying to connect the Sattelite Z930 to the same Netgear Push2TV.
I get exactly the same errors that I got with the old 705.
The Toshiba detects the Netgear, I enter the matching pin number etc, and then it says it is "connecting" then after a while it drops out.
EXACTLY THE SAME ISSUE AS I HAD WITH THE R705 RUNNING WINDOWS 7 IS STILL OCCURRING WITH THE Z930 ON WINDOWS 8!
To top it off, myfriend brought his other computer around, and suggested we try it. It connected, and he was sharing his screen with the Push2TV within seconds of starting the WiDi software.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY TOSHIBAS??? ARRRGGGHHHH.... I've searched this forum and it seems no-one else is having a problem......

Airport Extreme 7.2.1 - Can't get wireless working

I upgraded my AEBS to 7.2.1 yesterday from my MB and immediately wasn't able to reconnect to the BS after the upgrade, not even to configure or view logs. I plugged into the lan port, and was able reset the device to factory settings, and then I reconfigured it - it seemed to work fine from the LAN port, was doing routing/NAT fine, etc. After it came back on, with a green light, I still wasn't able to see its signal from ANY of my macs (two MBs, one iMac.) I even tried from a freshly installed OS X on the imac, and nada. Nothing could find my AEBS signal.
I downgraded to 7.1.1 and everything works fine. 7.2.1 seems honked.
I'd like to run the newest software, but obviously the wireless connectivity is important. Any ideas?

Thank you SO MUCH for the information. It cleared us right up, and it made the sweeter because of the six or so hours trying to fix this last night. I sure hope that Apple is going to fix this firmware update.
I might add one thing -- I looked for a dropdown box labeled "Version" and could ot find one. It took a minute or two to figure out to click on the word "Version" in the list of settings.

Or specifically, how can I replace my wireless card on a DV7-6B32US and upgrade to Intel Centrino 6230?
I have a relatively new DV7-6B32US puchased on 11/2011. Still under warranty. purchased 2 of the laptops. (also own 3 hp desktops and 1 HP All in One)
Existing card is wireless N but does not support 5GHZ or dual band. It is Broadcom 4313 wifi card and I am just realizing that the Broadcom card does not do the dual band 5GHZ wireless N. I have Linksys e4200 router which supports 5GHZ and dual band speeds up to 300 Mbps.
I called tech support and with their help identified Intel Centrino 6230 as the correct upgrade, and with their help ordered 631956-001. In the Maintenance Manual for DV7 laptop, this part number was listed for Intel Centrino 6230. Turns out HP sends an Intel Wireless N 1030 card, which is no better than my existing card. I called HP and they acknowledged that some manuals use part number 631956-001 for Centrino 6230 and some use 631956-001 for INtel 1030. So HP support said they would give refund but case manager was of no help in solving the upgrade problem. Said it was unavailable but here is your money back.
So after more searching, I see others have used part number 636672-001 to order Intel Centrino 6230, specifically for HP ProBook 4530s, 4230s, 4730s. And if I use part number 636672-001 and go thru parts store at HP, I can purchase it.
But will it work??
First, will the Intel Centrino 6230 with part number 636672-001 from HP parts, work in my HP DV7-6B32US, even though the part number is NOT listed in the Maintenance and Service Guide for my specific laptop. I see postings about whitelists and changing bios, etc, and am hoping someone can provide some guidance. I have been thru 2 tech support calls and one case manager and have gotten 3 different feedback from HP, from yes it will work and ordering the part, to buy it on amazon, to it will not work and here is your money back.
Second, I see some postings about Centrino 6230 and multiple antenna's. When I replaced the Broadcom 4313 with the Intel 1030 card, I simply unattached 2 wires and reattached the wires. And it worked. I am wondering if the reason HP doesn't list the 6230 card for DV7 is that DV7 does not have the antennas required to support 6230. Does the Centrino 6230 require 3 antennas?
Thanks for any suggestions. The existing cards do work but I paid extra for the Linksys e4200 Router and just assumed a winter 2011 $700 laptop from HP would use the latest wireless n technology, otherwise I would just keep existing cards.

I have went thru the exact same problems trying to upgrade the wireless card in my DV7. It is very frustrating that the wireless card can't be upgrade to one that supports 5Ghz. Can't get networking working with RALink 3062 Drivers

So i installed a core install with wireless-tools, but from here i followed the beginners guide to install networking and can't get it working, I even tried and compile the ra2860 drivers for it, said the compile and install worked but still can't get access to the ra0 interface. Need help

I've try but can't get it working ether, i've download from Aur but when i'm trying to use the PKGBUILD with makepkg
it telling me

I have 2 itunes accounts - one work a/c and one home a/c, but when i sign in at home only my home songs appear even if I sign in my work a/c. I have authorised both computers to show both a/cs. How can I get my work a/c songs to appear at home?

You will have to manually copy your music. Get a pen-drive big enough to accommodate all your music. And follow these steps:
1. Create a new folder on the pen-drive.
2. Copy the music from your work computer to the folder you just created. It's in (yourhomefolder)>Music>iTunes>iTunes Media>Music if you're using a Mac, or in C:\Users\(yourusername)\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music if you're using Windows.
3. Now on your home computer quit iTunes, and copy your music from work to the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder in (yourhomefolder)>Music>iTunes>iTunes Media.
4. Start iTunes. It will automatically start to process the files and move them to the appropriate place.
Repeat these steps with your music from home on your work computer. Also I suggest to use only one iTunes account if possible.

How can we get ADFSecurity work when used in OC4J, OID and OAM?

I am getting error in http server log "mod_oc4j: Response status=499 and reason=Oracle SSO, but failed to get mod_osso global context."
But I am not using Oracle SSO and my client doesn't want to use it either, I am using OAM SSO(CoreIDSSO) in my configuration. Please read the details below.
I am using ADFSecurity in an app that is protected by OAM. To migrate ADFSecurity permissions from
system-jazn-data.xml to OID, I used JAZNMigrationTool to populate OID with Grantees and Permissions. OAM gives login page, and authentication works fine.
But ADFSecurity is not working. ADFComponent Delete button is enabled even for roles that dont have permissions for the iterator delete.
- The app works fine when I use without OAM. ADF Security permissions work fine.
- The app works fine when used with OAM, but with ADFSecurity disabled (enforce=false).
- When I enforce ADFSecurity alongwith OAM, ADFSecurity is not working.
In the doc "Oracle Containers for J2EE Security Guide b28957", there is a mention of use of CoreIDPrincipal for permissions. Our OID Permissions entries show
LDAPRealmRole for attribute orcljaznprincipal. I am not sure if this could be the reason.
We have configured AccessServerSDK for the SOA instance and have policy for the urls in the policy manager. We have entries in orion-application.xml, orion-web.xml and system-jazn-data.xml as per the documentations.
How can we get ADFSecurity work when used with OID and OAM?

Have you been able to successfully integrate OAS with OAM & OID? We have similar requriement and so far we have not been able to get it working.
We have application specific roles which we map to OID roles using orion-application.xml.
Any pointers to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

When you erased the disk did you select Mac OS Extended Journaled as the format option?

The mac you want to install photoshop cs2 on is running mac os x 10.6.8 Snow Leopard?

Did you ever have cs2 installed on this particular computer before?
If the problem is that you already installed cs2, but it won't activate, that's because adobe took the activation servers offline for some older adobe products such as cs2.
You'll need to use the non activation version of cs2 from here and the supplied serial number:

Can't get Mail working properly

I just got my new MacPro this week, and it's really great except for I can't get Mail working right. I've set up my accounts and a few emails come through, though not many, and because it's been a week since I've been online, there should be many more than that. Also, I can't send any emails at all, no matter what I do. They will eventually go into my Sent box, but I've been sending them to myself to see if it's working, and they never come through. I spent an hour on the phone yesterday with the tech support for my ISP, and they told me that I'd have to talk to the Apple techs because they didn't have current info for *Mail 3.1*, the version I have, that the latest they had was for 2.something. So I called the Apple tech support and spent 2 hours on the phone with them, and they weren't able to help me get it going correctly either. It keeps giving me error messages such as Connection Failed, or Unable to Receive Mail, saying "there may be a problem with the mail server or network" and that "the connection to the server on ... port has timed out." I'm on DSL and am always online, so I know it's not the internet connection that's the problem. Can anybody give me some advice on what I should try? Any help will be gratefully appreciated!

Is your ISP Verizon, Demon, or Glocalnet, then it might be Apples biggest Leopard Bug in conjunction with these ISP:s POP-servers.
The one that randomly changes the settings in "advanced" from "password" to "APOP".
The visual result of this bug is that you will get a popup-box where Mail asks you to enter your password. (Which is useless entering, since the preference settings are changed.)
My advice counts only when you are supposed to use "password" as the correct setting in "Advanced" and in conjunction with some ISP:s.
