Can't gift an app

Hi all,
Having a strange issue when trying to gift an app to my brother in law.  I get all the way to the end then click the 'buy' at the top right of the window, which turns it into 'buy now'.  Then when I click it again it turns back into the 'buy' button and I can't get any further.  It never asks me for my login details.
I've checked and I can still buy apps fine, but the gift option seems bugged for me.
This is on ipad by the way.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?
Thank for any help!

You cannot gift an app you have purchased using your own Apple ID.

I gifted an App from the App store to my cousin. He is India and I am in Kuwait. He now got a message saying that the app can only be used in Kuwait. How can I gift an App to someone in a different country? How can I recall the gift I alreadt sent?
    Cheers,

Are you asking about iOS apps? This is the Mac App Store forum, about issues with apps for Macs, not iOS devices. Mac apps cannot be gifted at this moment. I am asking the Hosts to move your question to the iTunes area.

  • HT2736 Can I gift an app from my iTunes account to friend without using credit card ..just use my credit in items store account ?

    No
You would have to use a credit card.

  • Why I can't gift an app that I already have on my iOs devices?

That's it, I want to know:
Why I can't gift an app thru the iTunes store for an  that I already have on my iOs devices?
I have an account fully authorized complete with a credit card, so it is puzzling or a blip in Apples system!

Is it hidden via an app age rating in Settings > General > Restrictions ? If not then you could try a reset and see if it shows after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

How can I gift an app I like?

There are instructions on this page for how to gift content from within the store : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2736
Note that you can only gift content to people whose iTunes account is based in the same country as your own.

  • Can you gifting an app with your account balance

Can you gifting an app with your account balance

I think this is idiotic. I know MANY ppl who have to constantly change their passwords because their accounts have been compromised once and these ppl only use gift cards to put credit on their accounts. Why is it that ppl who dont have a credit card or want that information kept on file are being kept from gifting. If someone chooses to pay by CC then no prob but if Im not able because I dont have a CC or want Apple to store my CC information then Im screwed?? Isnt it illegal for a company to store CC information anyway?

  • How can i gift an app in the mac app store ?

hi,, I see that i can gift an app in the ios store, but cannot do the same in the mac app store ? ... is this feature not available yet ?. if not, when will it be available ?

You can use iTunes gift cards in the App Store. I don't think Apple supports "gifting" of apps as yet and we wouldn't know when they may do this in the future. This is a user to user forum, not Apple.

  • How can I "gift" an app to multiple people via email?

I'm trying to figure out the best way to be able to send our nonprofit members our new iTunes app. I saw a "gift this app" button, but now I can't find it again. Is there a way to pre-purchase an app and email it to people? Thanks, in advance, for any recommendations!

Next to the big button labeled with the price and the word "buy", there is a pop-up list. The first option is Gift This App.

  • How can I gift an app from the itunes store

How can I purchase an app and gift it to someone?

There are instructions on how to gift content on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2736#4
If you are trying to do it from your device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) and they are on iOS 6 then it won't work, you will need to try doing it from your computer's iTunes
You can also only gift content to people whose iTunes account is based in the same country as your account

  • I bought an app that can't run on my iPod Touch because it is too old. Can I gift the app to someone else or get a refund?

I have an iPod Touch 4th Generation. I didn't even realize the new iPod Touch 5 had come out, or that my device would not support the newest iOS.
Recently, an app came out that I was looking forward to for months: "The Walk" by Six to Start (same folks who did the excellent "Zombies, Run!" app). I'm pregnant and I was hoping to have the app to encourage me to get back into my walking habit once I recovered from childbirth, so I bought it. Unfortunately, there was no warning or indication that this app would NOT work on my iPod Touch 4, and nothing to inform me that iOS 7 wouldn't be supported on my device. The app requires iOS 7 or higher to run, so it won't work on my iPod Touch at all. I didn't realize any of this until I tried to install it.
So now I have this app that I paid for, but have never used, and CAN never use (unless I shell out $300+ for a new device, which I cannot do, as a stay-at-home parent-to-be with no income of my own anymore). I'm annoyed that I can't use this app that I really wanted, but it would help if I could at least get a refund or maybe send the app to someone who CAN use it.
Is there anything I can do at this point, or do I just have to live with the fact that I wasted money on an app that I can't use?

You can't gift it, gifting can only be done from within the store, not from within your library.
Puchases are considered final but you can try the 'report a problem' link to contact iTunes Support and see if they will refund or credit you : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • How can I gift an app that I already purchased?

I'm trying to gift an app that I have already purchased for myself.  But I do not see a way to doing so.  Since I have already purchased the app, when I am in the Appstore it just shows "Install" instead of the price of the app.
    Thanks

Gifting an app needs to be done prior to purchase.
You can gift an app using an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone. Launch the App Store and find the app you want to send as a gift. Once you have found the app and are viewing all of the details, scroll down to the bottom. There you will find a Gift This App button. Tap on it.
    (Credit: Screenshot by Jason Cipriani)
You will be provided with a summary of the app; press Next after you have confirmed it is the app you would like to send.

Enter your name followed by the recipient's name and e-mail address. You can also scroll down and enter a note to be sent with the app if you'd like. Press Next when you're done.

On the last screen you will see an order summary. Verify that the name, e-mail address, and app are all correct. Once you are satisfied, tap on Buy Gift. The recipient will then be sent an e-mail to alert him or her of your gift.

  • HT2736 How can I gift an app that I have already purchased?

I am closing down one of my apple accounts that I no longer use.  Can I gift my purchased apps on that account to my other account? They can then be removed from the original account.
    Thanks for any help

" Can I gift my purchased apps on that account to my other account? "
    No.
All purchases made with that account will always be tied to that account.  You will have to authorize your computers for that account and update your apps using that account.

  • How can I gift an app that I already have installed on iphone and/or ipad?

Once the app is purchased, I cannot figure out how to gift it again, since the gift option seems to disappear once the app is purchased?
Any advice would be appreciated - thank you

Hmm, I guess that's something to put in the suggestion box. If you really insist, just mybe you can contact iTS to refund you. Then you can purchase the gift, and then you can buy it for yourself after?

  • How can you gift an app to a different user

I can only by software from the App store. I need 10 copys for this app to 10 differnt people using mac. app cost $10 and I need to be the one tha pays for it. How can I do this with macs?
IE: in windows I buy 10 Keys and send each user a download link and there Key. < So How can I do this with the macs and app store?

It has to do with who you are and what the purpose of the purchase is. If you are a company, then the Terms of Use for the Mac App Store is different than if you are a private consumer. If all that you wish to do is gift these 10 people each a copy of the app, then as linked in the comment above, at this moment all that is available is a gift card sufficient to cover the costs of the app and if in the US, any local sales taxes. They can then redeem that gift card (or electronic gift certificate) as a credit in their personal iTunes/Mac App Store account and purchase the app. The licensed copy of the app will be theirs and you will have no control over it, it is not transferable to you at any time in the future.
