Can't handle high bitrates??

Hey all. I've noticed that when I play songs that are 192kbps or 320kbps or higher bitrate, that the music tends to sound distorted a little. It's not very bad but it does get irritating sometimes. Is it just me or does it seem that the nano can't handle high bit rates?
I have a Creative ZEN 8GB and I do not seem to hear the same distortion that I did with the nano. Hope someone can help. Oh btw, I did test the same type of songs using the same headphones.

I notice this problem when I listen to songs such as Chris Brown - Forever, Rihanna - Don't Stop The Music and a few more I can't remember. So pls help! Thanks!

  • S750s - can't handle high volume :(

    Hi,
    I've had this problem for ages now, but have been too busy with work to do anything about it, but now that I've moved into my new house, I am aching to blow the roof off (metaphorically speaking)
    The problem? Crank the volume on the s750s anywhere over 5 bars (Audigy 4 pro volume at 80%) the sound jerks and skips at the bass notes. Any higher and it cant even handle the trebble.
    This is well annoying, I've disconnected everything, reconnected it all, done anything and everything sensible driver-wise. Reading some of the other posts about the s750s makes me think the issue is with the sub...
    First off, anyone else out there with this kind of problem? Secondly, what can I do about it apart from getting a new set?
    Cheerz

    Um, maybe you have a small room? You're telling the guy he shouldn't go over that number, then why did Creative allow the volume to go that high if it can't handle it's Maybe his room is bigger OR, I go to about 5 sometimes while playing games and when it gets louder, it starts feeling more immersive. I play guitar and I like to jam with songs and I can tell you right now, I have reached the bar 7 before. My guitar amp is only on it's half setting to match volume with the speakers. If the speaker system can't handle it, they shouldn't allow it to go up that high. The S750's have been a waste of my money anyway.

  • Junk Mail filter can't handle high volume

    I use Mail.app at work/school. Unfortunately, my email address there is [email protected], and because it's so simple spammers have taken to sending spam that looks like it came from me. So every day I get dozens to hundreds of bounces from their spam, and my school's spam filter only catches about a quarter of them.
    Here's my problem: 75% of the time, Mail catches all the spam bounces and puts them in my junk mail folder like it's supposed to. But if I get a whole lot at once - usually the first time I Get Mail for the day - it screws up and dumps them in the inbox. They're marked as Junk, but I still have to go through and delete them. The other day, I checked my mail and got over 200 messages in my inbox, only a handful of which were not spam!
    If only a few - say, less than 20 - spams come at once, it works fine. But more than that and I have to delete them from my inbox. Anyone know how to fix this? I've played around with the JM filter settings.
    (And if anyone knows how to make the spammers stop faking my address, that would be great, but I'm not hopeful.)

    No, those folders could only be a problem if they existed and you had something installed there.
    I’m not positive you’ll be able to find a satisfactory solution to this problem because, as I said in my first post, it’s not uncommon for Mail to choke on those bounces and the user not even being able to delete them by normal means, but you may try the following in case there is something amiss here.
    Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
    The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
    After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, and ensuring that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong, e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down. This is where all your mail is locally stored.
    3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see any other “Envelope Index”-named file there, delete it as well.
    4. Move any “IMAP-”, “Mac-”, or “Exchange-” account folders to the Trash. Note that you can do this with IMAP-type accounts because they store mail on the server and Mail can easily re-create them. DON’T trash any “POP-” account folders, as that would cause all the mail stored there to be lost.
    5. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index — Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
    6. As a side effect of having removed the IMAP account folders, those accounts may be in an “offline” state now. Do Mailbox > Go Online to bring them back online.
    Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

  • Can I convert to a higher bitrate AAC file for purchased iTunes music?

    I don't like that the 99 cent download I purchased can't be switched to a different audio filetype. Is there a way I can at least convert to a higher bitrate (128 kbps up to 320 kbps instead?)

    Unfortunately, no. The store sells downloads in protected AAC format @ 128 kbps, that is ALL they sell. Major record companies provide the files to the store & the record companies do not like to offer CD quality downloads.

    Yes. Duplicate the preset, then customize it all you want.

  • High bitrate and old devices

    Hi
    I did not find this information inside the Encore manual or FAQs here... So it's just a question ir order to know if I can work safety this way....
    Suppose I have a 20 minutes of video and need to burn it in a DVD. When exporting to the MPEG-2 (for Premiere or even in Encore with Adobe Dynamic Link), in order to get the maximum quality I can, I specify almost the maximum bitrate... So, VBR Pass 2, and Minimum = 8, Target = 8,5 and Maximum = 9.
    This will get a biggest file, but even thinking it's only a 20 minutes, it will get inside the 4.7 GB of DVD without problem.
    Suppose also I do the same thinking, but now for Blu-Rays (using almost the biggest bitrate value).
    The question is:
    Will this video have an incompatiblity with older devices? Older DVD Players or older Blu-Ray players?
    Or this is not a problem for any device? Any device can interpret and work with higher bitrates?
    Thank you very much
    Gustavo.

    Hi Gustavo.
    For the DVD, Ann has said it all above.
    For the Blu-ray though, I would always encode to Profile 1.0/1.1 bitrate limitations, and not Profile 2 simply because there are still a lot of P1 players out there and the increased bitrates for P2 may well cause problems on P1 players - indeed, when encoding for replication Scenarist & DoStudio will both tell you that you may have compatibility issues if the bitrate is set for the much higher P2 limits.
    Profile 2 can handle up to around 62-65Mbps, whereas Profile 1/1.1 is down at around 40Mbps.
    You should rarely need to go anywhere near these levels though - typical bitrates for high definition video are as follows:
    MPEG-4 (AVC/264) - minimum = 4 (not an absolute, but lower than this will not be acceptable in quality unless encoding a slideshow)
                                   Typical = 16
                                   Maximum = 40
    SMPTE VC-1         - minimum = 4 (not an absolute, but lower than this will not be acceptable in quality unless encoding a slideshow)
                                   Typical = 18
                                   Maximum = 40
    MPEG-2                - minimum = 4 (not an absolute, but lower than this will not be acceptable in quality unless encoding a slideshow)
                                   Typical = 24
                                   Maximum = 40
    I would avoid going near the maximum levels though, as you must also take into account audio, popup menus, subtitling & overheads as well as "burst peak" rates - what you set as maximum is often not the same as what you actually end up with for all sorts of reasons.
    Hope this helps

  • How can I extract high and low parts of a string that represents a 64bits decimal number?

    I want to extract the high and low parts to interpret it and convert to binary code, but such a hugh number (represented by a string) isn't easy to extract from the string directly its high and low parts.

    LabVIEW can't handle a 64-bit integer. You will have to store it as two 32-bit integers. If you need exact math on those 64-bit intergers you will have to make up your own routines to handle the carries and what not. If you just need pretty good accuracy, covert both 32-bit integers to double, multiply the upper 32-bit number by 2*32 (also a double) and then add the lower 32-bit number to it.
    Good luck.

  • Cannot Find File - Convert higher bitrate songs to 128kb AAC on an iPhone??

    I ran out of room on my iPhone 3G, so I checked the "Convert higher bitrate songs to 128kb AAC" option. I had already made an 'iPhone' playlist as the only playlist synched with iTunes, and the playlist reduced its iPhone footprint by roughly 25%. It worked well except for several songs that "could not be found" by iTunes. These are all songs for which I have the CD, and play perfectly in iTunes (and on the iPhone before the conversion).
    I have tried deleting the songs from my 'iPhone' playlist, iTunes, and my hard drive and reinstalling from the CD (first to iTunes then to the iPhone playlist) - ALL with reboots and permission repairs between reinstalls. These 13 songs seem to be impossible to convert, despite several other songs from the same CDs converting perfectly!!!
    After each attempt, iTunes goes through and re-evaluates the gaps, which takes time. This is not a problem, I just note it for diagnostic purposes.
    How do I resolve this perplexing and vexing conversion problem? The songs ARE on the hard drive, and iTunes CAN find them (because they play in other playlists and played before the conversion) they just do not seem to convert.
    Help!

    Everything is up to date, except for the security patch released yesterday. That is on the list for a 'today task' but I have not gotten to it yet.

  • I bought a fully specked, 2012 retina mac book pro today. Will it still be powerful in 4 years? In other words, will it still be able to handle high powered engineering programs in 4 years?

    In other words, will it still be able to handle high powered engineering programs in 4 years? It's i7, quad core, 2.7GHZ boost up to 3.7GHZ,16 GB RAM, and 768 flash SSD.
    Will it be considered a lower powered or mid powered machine in 4 years relative to the new laptops around it?
    I feel like fully specking it helps me be a little future proof.
    Is 6 years too ambitious to hope for that this machine will still be able to handle powerful programs?
    I spent $3000 so in 4 years I hope it will still be relativley fast.

    Nobody can predict what programs might need in the future.  And, nobody can predict where computers will head 3-4 years from now.  Power (meaning energy consumption) is becoming as important as speed (if not more so).  Purchase what you need now with a bit of headroom and expect that you might need to replace in 3 years (that's the reason large companies lease computers instead of purchasing them).
    It also depends on what you mean by "high powered engineering programs".  It could mean that  you don't have enough memory for newer applications and will constantly be swapping to disk.  This could either prevent you from using the SW or will significantly slow things down.
    It could also mean that the computations become more complex and need a faster cpu (this is a lower risk and simply means that your computer won't be quite as fast as your buddy's).
    It could mean that the OS you have today is obsolete and no longer supported for these applications.
    Don't worry about 4 years down the road.  Nobody (and I mean nobody) can predict even 1 year out.  Look at how many times companies delay product introductions, or provide "guidance" to analysts.

  • Itunes "convert higher bitrate songs" not working properly

    hello,
    i recently used the option "convert higher bitrate songs to 128kbps aac" to save storage space on my iphone. it worked like a charm and i saved several gigabytes.
    HOWEVER, as soon as i sync my iphone again, it starts to reencode approx. 60 tracks again! it takes a while of course and after that, the tracks are converted and on my iphone (i checked it). if i sync again it will reencode again the very same tracks (and delete them before from my iphone). this is really annoying because it costs time and cpu usage.
    i didnt changed those files, i checked the date when they were changed, and they werent changend at all this month!
    does anyone have an idea? i really like this option, but if it means that i have to convert 60tracks everytime i sync my iphone, i will have to disable it...
    regards

    I am seeing this artwork bug too, on my nano. It seems to be tied to the 128 kbps songs, but I can't pinpoint exactly what makes it happens.
    All I know is, now that I'm using the 128 conversion, I have to reset my nano at least once per day to get artwork back. It also seems to be tied to coming out of pause or hold. After I've paused music and come back later, the artwork shows a white box. But not all the time, so I wonder if it's only when I pause a song that has lyrics.

  • Performance issue is most probably caused by the fact that IE can not handle such amount of requests ? is it ?

  • OSMF 1.6.1/2.0 / Strobe Live issue : Framework can't handle an empty f4m descriptor?

    Hi,
    suppose that in a live media stream, the f4m descriptor just contains the following:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <manifest xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/f4m/1.0">
    <id>live2</id>
    <mimeType>video/mp4</mimeType>
    <streamType>live</streamType>
    <deliveryType>streaming</deliveryType>
    </manifest>
    The official Strobe Player can’t handle this situation (see answers to comments in http://www.osmf.org/dev/1.5gm/setup.html, I tried Strobe 1.5 and I get an error when connecting) so I wonder if this is a general issue with OSMF, as I haven’t been able to make it work with my own OSMF-based player (I tried both 1.6.1 and 2.0).
    On the other hand in my attempts, after Flash Media Live Encoder has started streaming and the Wowza server fills the f4m descriptor with media-related data, I can load Strobe or my own OSMF-based player and the playback starts without problems.
    <manifest xmlns="http://ns.adobe.com/f4m/1.0">
    <id>live2</id>
    <width>480</width>
    <height>360</height>
    <mimeType>video/mp4</mimeType>
    <streamType>live</streamType>
    <deliveryType>streaming</deliveryType>
    <bootstrapInfo id="bootstrap478000" profile="named" url="playlist_b478000_w478000.abst" />
    <media bootstrapInfoId="bootstrap478000" width="480" height="360" bitrate="466" url="media_b478000_w478000.abst/">
    <metadata>AgAKb25NZXRhRGF0YQMACXRyYWNraW5mbwoAAAABAwAEdHlwZQIABWF1ZGlvAAZjb25maWcCAAQxNDA4AAtkZXNjcmlwdGlvbgIAV3tBQUNG
    </manifest>
    So my conclusion is: currently I must not open the player before the event starts (which I cannot know in advance of course), or it will find an empty f4m and will get stuck unless the web page embedding it gets reloaded.
    Is there a way to solve it? I tried with OSMF 1.6.1 and OSMF 2 in my custom player and strobe 1.5 .
    p.s.
    i tried to submit this as a bug here : http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FM ( www.osmf.org => bug submit ) registering an user, but i have not the permission to post here.

    Hi,
    the bugbase has moved to https://bugbase.adobe.com/
    AMS usually populates the needed fields with correct information - therefore the tests did not cover the wowza "empty" non-standard f4ms.
    As a workaround, I would suggest a  web page that would allow access to the stream only after the stream starts, otherwise showing a "plate". This could be done either server-side or in JS.

  • Will iTunes ever add the syncing option to convert higher bitrate songs to 320 bitrate?

    Most of my music is ALAC, but I do have several that are 257-320 bitrate AAC/MP3. When syncing to my iPod Nano, everything won't fit as is. So I have to convert to 256 while syncing. Of course, this further degrades the higher bitrate AAC/MP3 songs.
    APPLE: It can't be that hard to add the 320 bitrate option. Can it???
