Can't have more then one computer online on same network

Hi there, came across a weird issue. I have a macbook pro, I wiped my iMac and brought it as a gift for my parents. I wanted to demonstrat how we can use ichat. I created an account for my parents and have my own. However, only one computer can be logged on at a time on our network. However at my place when I was working on the iMac, both could be logged in no problem. The only difference here at ther place is I have a aiport Extreme Base Station. Would this be causeing it. Thanks

Hi,
In any router you can set how many Computers or devices can be linked or use it to access the internet.
How it is done can vary and there could be various options accessible on one device.
This is an older firmware for a Base Station but I am sure you can follow.
Uploaded with Skitch!
This is the Internet Tab/Icon at the top and the Internet Connection tab
The top part is how the Base Station connects to any Modem (uplink)
The red Box bit is what it is doing to the LAN side.  Share an Public IP is in fact DHCP to the LAN
The DHCP Tab set the IP range (192.168.xxx.xxx or 10.0.1.xxx and so on) and the Limits of that range (i.e 1 to 254 IP addresses)
Uploaded with Skitch!
You could limit the range to 1 IP
I actually do this on my router so that I know it is limited to the 2 wifi computers and the 4 phones.
You will notice that the Base Station will get the IP of 192.168.1.1 in this case.
That also leaves IPs 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.100 "spare" and along with those above .200  til the end of the range (255).
The Mac can then be set to do "Manually with DHCP" and use a Static Address (Using an IP in the "spare" areas).
You will also notice that there is a box where known computer or devices can have their IP listed so they always get the same IP.  (reservations)
Using a limit scope of IP addresses and this can also exclude "newcomers"  as there may not be any "free" spaces in the usable range.
Now...
If the first Pic is set to anything but Share an IP then it is most likely that the Base Station is not doing DHCP to the LAN and the computer is set up to use a Static (Manually) set address.
One option is "Bridge (Off) Mode" which is DHCP Off  (I forget what the other option is)
This may Limit how many computers can acces the base Station (Particularly if visitors are set to "Using DHCP" in System Preferences > Network > TCP tab in the Advanced button)
PPPoE
In the top pic the connection Uplink might be using PPPoE
This can also be "passed on" to another device,  which may be the Computer, which in turn would isoslate any other computer joining the LAN.
Hope that give you enough clues to find out what he has set

Yes. (One of my systems has music purchased from two different iTunes accounts in its iTunes library.)

iCloud, iTunes & Apps Stores can be assigned different AppleID's from the Settings app. I have my phone and my wife's set up this way for the very reasons you are describing. Works well.

Can you have more than one computer linked to the same icloud account?  If so how do you add a computer?

Yes, of course - that's the whole point, to provide syncing of data such as calendars, contacts and email between computers and iOS devices. Having got iCloud up and running on one computer, simply sign all other devices in at System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud with the same login. (Lion 10.7.2 and iOS5 are the minimum requirements.)

  • Can I have more then one MVIEW site connected to single master site?

    Hi,
I need one help from your end.
Currently I am working on Basic Replication. For that I am using Read only Materialized views.first i tried with one master site & one Materialized view site its working fine,Can I have more then one MVIEW site connected to single master site referring to same database ? if so how to achive this one..

Actually one of my senior told me that you need to change number of OPEN_LINKS value like that so for that reason I asked this question.
    Still that problem not solved..
I will explain what are all the things I did ok.
    IN MASTER SITE:
I am creating read only MVIEW's.
first i created one user repadmin and have given
    1>execute any procedure
    2>dbms_repcat_admin.grant_admin_any_repgroup
    3>dbms_repcat_admin.grant_admin_any_schema
    4>select any dictionary
and all other grants to repadmin user
then I changed global_name = 'zxincmp' on Master site.
Then I created mview log for each table (for 85 tables) & then I created mview's for that table on Master site itself. later I took a dump of these 85 mview's . then I transfered this dump to one of my mview site.
    IN MVIEW site:
I created one user zxdbp_55 and all the above rights are given to this user & i created one public dblink
"zxincmp" using "TO_CMP"(master site). Then I imported that dump which i took from master site.
then i created one private link zxincmp in one of my mview site.then i used DBMS_REFRESH.MAKE('')
to refresh all my tables & to set the interval..
after that i created index on the mviews..
this will works out fine for single master & single mvirew site.but I tried with the same procedure to prepare one more mview site, everything is fine but main problem is second mview site is not getting refreshed automatically,i need to do refresh manually from enterprise manager.. then it will get refreshed.
how to overcome this problem? I am using same db name ,dblink, refresh group for both the mview site will it affects anywhere?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Hanumanth.

I have registered 2 domain names . can I have more then one domain name on mobile me or icloud?

MobileMe ends here at the end of the month so you will need to look into hosting your website/websites with another webhosting service.
I personally use IX Webhosting for a couple of reasons:
Fast reliable personal tech support by phone, instant chat, & email
They allow unlimited domains "www.yoursite.com", unlimited email accounts, unlimited bandwidth
And, price they are very reasonable plans start @ $3.95 USD a month

  • Can I have more then one icloud E-Mail Account?

Can I have more then one icloud E-Mail Account?

    Hi Pathfinder93950,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
You can only have one iCloud account per Apple ID.  However, you can have up to 3 aliases that point to that iCloud account.  Here is some additional information:
iCloud: Set up an @icloud.com email address
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2620
After you set up your @icloud.com email address, you can use it to sign in to iCloud. You can also sign in using the Apple ID you used to create your iCloud account.
    iCloud: About email aliases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4897
iCloud: Create or change email aliases
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph2622
You can have up to three active email aliases, and you can delete or deactivate (turn off) an email alias at any time. You might want to deactivate an alias if, for example, you use an alias to make a purchase. After you receive the item, you can turn off the alias to avoid follow-up advertisements, then turn it on again when you make another purchase.
Deleting an alias is permanent, so if you think you might want to use the alias again, you should simply turn it off. When an alias is turned off, all email sent to that alias is returned to the sender.

  • Can you have more than one ipod on the same computer?

me and my sister live together and we would like to be able to have two seperate libraries on the same computer. one library is already there and when the second ipod is plugged in, it comes up as a sub-library that is unacessable.

There are basically two ways of using multiple iPods on a computer and these involve:
    a) Sharing a single iTunes library and or user account or
    b) Creating multiple user accounts.
Note: When you are sharing an iTunes library, you don't have to set each iPod to update in the same manner, you can mix and match from the options below as each iPod has it's own update settings
Sharing a Library and/or User Account
If you want to share the one library, you can set either or all of the iPods so that they only get updated with only certain playlists (you can update from more than one if you wish):
Loading songs onto iPod automatically - Windows
Choosing the update option "Sync Music - Selected playlists" allows you to create a playlist specifically for the iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used some other time if you choose. You can read more about playlists at these links:
iTunes: Creating playlists of your favorite songs
How to create a Smart Playlist with iTunes
Or you can choose to update any or all of the iPods manually and just drag whatever content you want to them: Managing content manually on iPod
Loading the iPod shuffle differs slightly but it can still be used with the others, for details have a look at this page: Loading songs onto iPod shuffle - Windows
It's also possible to have multiple libraries in a single account. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Option key (or Shift key in Windows) when launching iTunes 7. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. This can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library:
    Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
    Separate User Accounts
Another option is to create a separate User account for each person on your PC or Mac. Different accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists
I don't use Windows so I can't give you a step by step on that one, however I can point you to another web page which should help you out. You can read about Windows user accounts here:

  • Can I have more then one .mac email account?

I have just purchased a new Mac Air, I have a .mac account and wanted to setup an email account for my wife. Is there a way to set up an additional [email protected] account without purchasing an additional .mac? If this is possible how do I do it? Also is the a way to post step by step directions?

Depends. If having her use an alias (i.e., an alternate email address that goes to the same mail account) is an acceptable solution, then you can do it. Then you can set up separate smart mailboxes to filter your email to one mailbox and hers to another.
Here is the help topic on creating an alias:
You can create up to five email aliases to help prevent unwanted messages from being sent to your primary MobileMe Mail account or for use with online groups and chat websites. For example, you might want to share your main MobileMe Mail address with friends and family only and use email aliases for online registrations, purchasing products, joining mailing lists, and so on. This will help you better manage the email you receive and make it easier to monitor the sources of unwanted messages. You can even send email using an email alias.
    To create an email alias:
In MobileMe Mail on the web, choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu in the toolbar at the top of the window.
Click Aliases at the top of the pane, and then click the Create Alias button. If you already have an alias, click “Add alias.” You can maintain up to five aliases at a time.
Enter an email alias and a name, which will appear in the “From” field of the recipient’s email, in the text fields provided.
Choose a color for messages received by the alias. Email sent to an alias appears in your MobileMe Mail inbox on the web in the color you choose.
Click Create. By default, an alias is active when it is created. To deactivate an alias, deselect the Active checkbox next to it. When an alias is turned off, all email messages addressed to that alias are returned to the sender.
    Click Save.
When you’re ready to send an email, you can use the Account pop-up menu in the message header to choose the alias you want it sent from. For more information about using aliases, see Related Topics below.

  • Can I have more then one email signature for my ipad2 ?

I have 3 email accounts on my ipad2.  Can I have a separate signature for each one?  I just bought the ipad2 so it is running the latest OS

Unfortunately you can only have one signature, even with multiple accounts.  The signature appears in the editable field so it can easily be changed.

  • Can you have more than one iphone on the same itunes account

My friends wife has just brought an iphone 5 and given his old one to her husband. They both use the same itunes account because they only have one computer. The husband has gone onto the new phone with his sim card started deleting stuff and it is deleting it from the iphone 5. They are on the same icloud account im guessing. Can they have the same itunes login in so they can have the music on both phones but a different icloud login to stop deleting stuff from each others phones?

iCloud, iTunes & Apps Stores can be assigned different AppleID's from the Settings app. I have my phone and my wife's set up this way for the very reasons you are describing. Works well.

How many domains can you create through iweb?
    thanks,

The freeware application is iWebsites but it is not yet fully functional with iWeb '08...

You can have as many sites as you like by storing the domain.sites2 files for each one
    in separate folders.
A search of this forum will turn up a lot of information about this.
