Can't hear anything on my iphone after syncing

Hey, someone please help!
I've just synced my iPhone and that was all ok.  Now, I can't hear anything on my iPhone.  It rings, but I can't hear the other person speaking, also when I make a call, I can't hear anyone unless I put it on loudspeaker!
I restored (and used the last backup I had before my sync just now) but it still the same.
Any ideas?

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with sound on your iPhone.  I recommend the following steps for an issue like this:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, followthese troubleshooting steps.
Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

    Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

  • I can't open apps in my iPhone after synced to iTunes.

    I'm having problem with iTunes, seems like everytime i sync my iPhone after it finish synced, I can't open some of the apps. I even try to find my apps (new) in iTunes, but it's not in the library. But if I started install any new app, the apps that can't open earlier is working OK again. Why?
    Just a note, before the iOS 5, I use one Apple ID, then after updated my iPhone with the iOS 5, I accidentally created another Apple ID. So now I got two ID.
    Now everytime I update my old app using the old ID & for the new app installed they asked me using the new ID. Is that the cause of it?
    Additional info: My iTunes also updated (10.6) & I am using Dell with Microsoft Vista. Now I am on iOS 5.1 for my iPhone 4.
    Please help me as this is very irritating. I never have this problem before.

    I mean,  is everything the same compared to update when connect to Itunes?. then it is much easier. You don´t need to do a thing, and get everything updated. For example a new app you have bought with your iphone

    You cannot. However, you can solve this problem by setting the iPhone as a new device and upgrading iOS in Settings -> Software Update.
    After upgrading iOS, open Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings. Finally, Setup Assistant will let you restore the backup.

    Have you taken the steps recommended in the User Guide--restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new?
    What happened after taking each of those steps?

    I have the same problem!! It lead to many other problems with my phone
    I just arranged a repair with apple. Yes its inconvenient to be without a phone for a while but if your phone is in warranty its good to get it looked at professionally!

    Unfortunately, the only one who can help is the previous owner.  Otherwise you will not be able to activate and use the phone.  Apple can't/won't help you with this either.

    You can take it into an Apple store and have it checked out.

    Please take a look at the article referenced below, the same as in my original reply.  The receiver on the iPhone does not have anything to do with the speakers on the bottom of the phone nor your microphone.
    Clear the receiver
    The iPhone receiver won't work properly if it's blocked or dirty. Here's where the receiver is:
    Follow these steps, testing after each:
    Make sure nothing is blocking the receiver, such as a case or film.
    If you have a new iPhone, remove the plastic film on the front and back of the device.
    Check the receiver opening to see if it's blocked or dirty. If necessary, clean the receiver opening with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush.
    While you're on a call, turn on speakerphone. If you still can't hear, then your network or reception could be the issue. Try calling again later or from a different location.
    Restart and update
    Restart your iPhone and test again.
    If there's still no sound or poor sound quality, update to the latest version of iOS.
    Get more help
    If you've tried these steps and there's still no sound or poor sound quality from your iPhone, contact Apple Support.
    Learn what to do if other people can't hear you on a call.
    If you can't hear a person on a call or voicemail or if the sound quality is poor on iPhone

    This just randomly started up this morning, and the nearest Apple store is 2 hours away, so I'm turning here. I have an iPhone 4 (not the S) and the newest IOS. When someone calls me, my phone rings like normal, but when I answer, I can't hear them at all. I can make phone calls, but when I do, I can't hear the phone ringing before the person answers, and I still can't hear anything on the other line. I only know that the call went through because the screen says a call is in progress, and the people I've tested it on can hear me just fine.
    I've tried resetting my phone to factory settings, and I've turned it off and on multiple times. I don't know what else I can do. My phone is in good shape: a hairline crack in the screen, but it's just cosmetic. Nothing else is wrong. I hear all the alerts and everything else I'm supposed to hear, and I was able to have normal conversations as of last night. I dropped my phone early this morning from about 3 feet off the ground, but it's in an Otterbox and well protected. I am somewhat panicking that I can't talk to people, and I'm not eligible for an upgrade until July. Also, I did not purchase the extended Applecare plan.
    If someone could please help, I would really appreciate it. I'm planning on taking it to Best Buy once they open. I don't know if they can do anything, but I'm stuck.

    One more thing:
    I suspect that this problem is not related to the “headphones mode problem” because I have no problems with the laudspeaker.
    Maybe an HW issue?

    Did you use the latest backup after setting it up "as new device"? If yes, try again, this time without using the backup, maybe it contains damaged data causing your problem.
    If this does not bring any change, you should get it serviced.

  • Parents on iMac using FaceTime - can't hear them with my iPhone 4

    First support post. This one's really stumping me. Haven't called Apple Support for an answer yet. I hope someone here can help.
    So, here's the situation.
    I use my iPhone 4 (latest software updates, not jailbroken, etc.) to FaceTime with my parents who are at home on their 21" iMac (the latest generation before the new new ones that just came out). It's running 10.6.7. It has the latest version of FaceTime (the one that costs 99 cents). When I call, we connect and I can see my parents just fine. They can hear me perfectly whether I'm using earbuds or not. But I can't hear them. When I use iChat to video chat, it's perfectly fine. Everything works. It doesn't matter if I send them the FaceTime call or they send it to me. I can't hear them.
    I  tested the problem on my wife's Mac Mini. When I FaceTime with her, she can hear/see me, I can hear/see her. I tested it with my buddy on his Mac Pro. He can hear/see me, I can hear/see him.
    I've run software update on my parent's iMac (using screen sharing). I've checked the sound settings in system preferences. I've scoured forums for this exact problem and I've had no luck.
    Anybody have any ideas why I can't hear them on my iPhone 4 using FaceTime ... but I can hear everybody else I FaceTime with?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    No solution, just posting that I have the same issue.
    Sisters iMac in Wisconsin, my iPhone4 in Los Angeles..
    Whats strange about it is, when she calls from her iMac, I get her sound for about a minute, and then it goes dead (though she can always hear me.) If she calls back, still no sound. It resolves itself a day later, but then again sound will cut out after about a minute.
    However, if she facetimes me from her iPod touch, it works fine. Sound has never cut out when she uses that.
    Like I said, no ideas, just sharing my situation. Hopefully Apple has noticed this bug and is working to fix it.
