Can't hear or be heard on phone calls after upgrading to ios 5

I recently upgraded my iphone 4 to ios 5 and afterwards my phone calls are mute. Caller can't hear me nor can i hear them. Blue tooth device only transmits music, no calls. I have restored my iphone from the back up and also as a new phone with out any luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Well after going to the apple store with no luck they referred me to apple care. They said even though my phone is out of warranty, upgrading to ios 5 screwed it up so they will place it back under warranty. This allows me to get the phone replaced at no cost. The new phone should be here tomorrow and I just send in the old one with pre-paid shipping. Give apple care a call.

Whenever I see "factory unlocked" I get suspicious, because there is no such thing as "factory unlocked". If you purchased the phone directly from Apple and the receipt says "unlocked" then it is unlocked. If you did not purchase it directly from Apple it was hacked to unlock it by whoever you bought it from. The "factory" was the back room of the shop. Unless you bought it directly from Apple (or an Apple-supported cellular carier) your phone was hacked, and updating it undid the hack. If this is the case there is no solution that can be discussed in an Apple-hosted forum.
If you really did buy it unlocked directly from Apple then razmee's suggestion is the way to go.

I cant hear or be heard on phone calls. I have done a soft reset and a full reset without resolution. Everything else works. It is not a phone network issue either. Does anyone have a fix?

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone. It certainly is impossible to make and receive calls if you can't be heard and cannot hear the other person. You have taken some really good troubleshooting steps already.

FYI, I use the POP mailserver as I need most of the information to be loaded onto my PC while on a plane / not connected to the interenet.
The primary use of mail on my iPhone is to be available as much as possible - even when I'm away from my office.

Callers can barely hear me when making a phone call

For the last 3 days, whenever I am talking on the phone the other person says they can barely hear me, that my voice is too low. My volume during calls is at the maximum and I haven't changed any settings.
Can someone please help? I have no idea whats happening!

Try rebooting your phone (which I recommend doing once a month even if it's running properly). Press and hold the power button until you see 'BlackBerry' on your screen, ignoring anything you see before that. It should take about 20 seconds. Once it's rebooted, try a call and post back with your results.

Can't hear people when making a phone call...

Recently I've noticed when receiving and making phone calls, it seems that the person on the other end can hear me but I can't hear them. When I make a call, i don't even hear a dial/ring tone but they can hear me just fine. I have rebooted the iphone 4 and it is up to date on the newest software. Any ideas on why I can't hear? This is getting annoying. lol
I CAN hear if I put it on speaker phone...

I've had this phone since the iphone 4 came out. It's not new. No damage or water near it. It seems to of have happened since the last sync with itunes. maybe the new update? Seems a lot of others are having this issue as well. Just trying to narrow it down.

... sounds very much like " cellular signal dead spot " OR "radio frequency interference"
Test this by noting exactly where in your house that this takes place and also where it does NOT. Repeat until you have a "Map" of the good and bad spots.
You cannot do much about the cellular signal but may be able to troubleshoot the interference problem. This document talks about Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but the "Sources" might also apply to your cellular signal problem - radio waves are radio waves.

Random reboots during phone calls after upgrading to OS4

My 3GS is rebooting without warning in the middle of calls after the upgrade - never did this before. This has happened at least five times today without any pattern: one 50-minute call was fine but other shorter ones have been cut off without warning. Battery is fine. It's been doing this ever since I upgraded last week.
Also I have noticed the whole phone has slowed down dramatically, presumably due to multitasking loading up the CPU?

Problems with Norwegian Phone numbers after upgrade to IOS 5

After I upgraded my Iphone 3S to IOS5 the format of the phone numbers in my adress book are all changed to an unworkable format.
###-##-##-# like 123-45-67-8. That means that all my phone numbers are not possible to use with my Iphone since they are not recognized by the Norwegian telephone system. The strange thing is that they are in the correct format in the adress book on my Mac. I tried to fix it trough my adress book but I can not see any solution on how to manage the format on the Iphone. My Mac got the latest version of OS with Lion.

Found out that it could have a connection with the carrier Tele 2 that I am using. Strange that I did not have the same problem in OS 4. The solution is to turn off International help. It works well after that step. All numbers with +47 works without this fix.

I have exactly the same problem on a 4S on iOS 8. Have tried uninstalling, deleting FMF from backup, resetting phone and restoring from backup, but the problem remains. Sometimes the icon appears on a backup Home screen in iTunes, but it never appears on the phone itself. The app is accessible by going to the store, purchases and opening it from there. The app appears to have been running the whole time, but becomes invisible anytime I return to the home screen.

Try this:
Settings>iCloud>Contacts>On...see if you can edit now...if so, you can go back into Settings & turn this off, if you like.

What do you mean open it? Are you saying it is carrier locked?
Unless you specifically purchased an unlocked iPhone fromApple, all US iPhones are carrier locked. AT&T will not unlock the device under any circumstances. Apple will not unlock devices without approval from the carrier.
The only way to unlock it is via unofficial methods which cannot be discussed here. Just one of the many reasons why it is important to purchase devices in the country in which they are intended to be used.
