Can't hear what I'm recording over...
Which obviously makes it more than a little difficult to play in time. When I'm done recording I can hear everything, but not when I'm actually laying down a new track. Does anybody know what settings I need to adjust to fix this?
Guitars and keyboards are going straight into the computer and audio is coming straight out. In other words, I'm not using an external mixer at all. I am using Soundbooth CS4.
Hi,
Soundbooth is not intended for music production and doesn't offer some of the functionality common to more music-oriented applications. You might be interested in Audition, which does offer a full-featured multi-track recording environment with full monitoring capabilities.

How can I hear what I'm recording in CS5.5 ?
Everything is working when I'm playing recorded files.
But I can't hear anything during recording ?
How can I monitor my recording in Adobe CS5.5 ?
gr
DannyThis is essentially a Mac problem, about which most of us know very little, because we use PCs. The ususal solution to monitoring is to use headphones to monitor an input directly, and if you do that in a PC then you have to set it up - probably the same in a Mac. Unfortunately your Presonus Audiobox doesn't have a headphone socket, which would probably make things easier - usually there's an app that comes with most devices of this nature that will help you with monitoring, but without a headphone socket on the box... not a lot of point!
Hopefully one of the developers might know the answer - they usually turn up at some point, on a fairly regular basis. -
I can't hear my keyboard when recording.
I have a Edirol Midi keyboard PCR-50 and I can record a software instrument with it but There is no monitor so I can't hear what I am recording. How do I turn on the monitoring?
Unlike when recording a real instrument the stereo/mono/monitor control in the lower right window is not there for the midi/software insruments. The organs are kind of different...
It may be that your keyboard is not sending MIDI data on channel 1.
Can you reset the keyboard to factory defaults? Sometimes that solves problems like this. -

I'm trying to record audio into my iPad2 using GarageBand and an iRig, but I can't monitor my tracks at the same time as recording, meaning if I lay down a drum track and attempt to record guitar, I can't hear the drums while recording. Thoughts?
Hi, I have this exact same problem. I haven't been using an iRig, just a cheap USB-jack cable. I managed to do this with the first cable I bought, but since it broke I've been unable to find a replacement that allows me to hear the drums while recording. DId you manage to get over this issue? If so I would really like to know how. Thanks and best wishes.

Soundtrack Pro doesn't work. When I open it, i can only hear a heartbeat ticking sound over and over again, then I get the spinning beach ball when I try playing a sound efx.
Update: I tried reinstalling firefox, same thing happened again. When i stopped the process "plugin-container for firefox", i could use parts of firefox (didn't get an error sound) for a while, until the process "plugin-container" startet again.
so what am i to do? switch to chrome? -

I have iTunes 11 and Windows 7. I can't hear what is playing on iTunes.
I have iTunes 11 and Windows 7. I can't hear what is playing on iTunes, even tho I can hear other stuff (eg YouTube) on my PC. I have checked the volume settings on my PC, in iTunes and even in the mini-player - they are all set at 100%. The little diamond at the top is moving, and the equalizer is showing that the music is playing, but I get no sound (music and podcasts). Help!
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

While talking on the phone i can hardly hear what ...
its going to be 2 months since i bought my nokia E66, i like the phone but two things bother me most.
the first one is that the call volume is so low that i can hardly hear what the other party says
the other one like most of falks here "No gateway replay " when i try to connect to open WLAN. i have tried to disable the "automatic configuration" and "power saving" but there is still the problem. i was thinking, if i disable the automatic configuration, does that mean that i have to statically assign IP address to my E66?
i would be so happy if someone helps me.
thanksTried turning up the call volume (you do that while in a call either with the joystick right or volume up key)?

Can't hear what I'm playing while I'm playing
Hello-
I can't seem to solve what is probably a very simple issue.
I'm plugging my guitar straight into Logic Pro via a 1/4inch-to-USB cable. I can see the audio being recorded, but I cannot hear it while I'm playing or during playback. All non-Logic Pro sounds are audible (turning the computer's volume up and down, other apps, etc.)
Weird thing is: when I unplug the USB-to-guitar cable, I am suddenly able to listen to what I just recorded.
I have tried clicking "software monitoring" and just about everything else in the audio preferences and can't come up with anything. I've tried tweaking my system preferences as well as my audio/midi setup utility, and have gotten nowhere.
If anybody has any suggestions I would be most appreciative because I am stumped.
Thanks
-Humanoid.Hi,
No.1 Most FAQ
Logic can only handle one Audio Device. Either the built in Input/Output or an external device (your USB cable is such an external device).
So, while using the external cable, logic can't use another device, namely the built in output.
BUT: There is a solution, which is called "aggregate device". You have to set up this device in your Audio-MIDI-Setup (Applications/Utilities). Go to the menu bar - Audio - open device editor. Klick on the plus sign to add a new device.
Into this virtual device you can install you Guitar USB cable as input and your Mac's built in output as output.
Now restart Logic, go to preferences-audio and select the aggregate device as input (output is always selected together with input).
To record, select the correct input of the aggregate device in case you have added both the USB cable and your built in input / mic.
Welcome to the show.
And could some forum technician make this thread sticky? But however - even this wouldn't help being asked the same question over and over, would it?

Can I hear part of a song over and over again?
I write scores and wonder if I can play some part of a song over and over again, then the next part and so on.
I use Amazing Slow Downer in my computer for writing music but it will be great if the most valuable musical device I own (my iPod) could do this for me.
Excuse me if there is some way my iPod can do this and I don't know.
This also will be great for learning lenguages, you could repeat any word or sentence forever.Thank you Jeff for your mail,
I sent an email to the iPod team, hopefully pretty soon we can enjoy this feature in the iPod.
Maybe if we invite our friends to ask for it could be sooner. -
When watching a video with my headphones the volume of speech seams very low even when i adjust volume. The speech also tends to make a humming sound in places. When I listen to music humming is sometimes transmitted, but the volume level is normal. The problem is that when the video is playing i can only hear music and humming with the voice too quiet to hear properly. How can I make both volumes balanced? Also. This happens in all music videos.

What should I do if I can never hear sound when I record a video?
Please help!!
Hello, try this...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, test if things work OK in Safe Mode.
Then move these files to the Desktop for now...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist
Reboot & test.
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.
Reset your prefs.
