Can't hear who is calling

hello i hav e bb torch 9810. i cant hear anyone when i make a call or when i receive a call. The otherone can hear me. i only hear when i put the speaker on. What must i do?

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Thank you so very much! My husband is in Afghanistan and calls at different times. If I am on a call and can't answer him it could be days before I hear from him again. I never thought to just restart my phone! Duh...this is my first smartphone so I am learning. All day people were calling while I was on the phone but I couldn't answer. The plastic cover was removed before I left the store and I have moved the volume up and down during, before and after phone calls. Have tried it in protective case and out of it. Impossible to hear calls unless phone is on speaker. There seems to be lots of comments re this. Is it a significant flaw? Can I fix it?

Take it in to an Apple store or authorized service center for evaluation and possible replacement.

If you've tried everything mentioned you probably have a failed earpiece. One option is to get a BlueTooth headset and use it for all calls. It will be cheaper than the $199 out-of-warranty replacement price from Apple (if it's still in warranty or AppleCare it will be free). Good BT headsets can be had for around $40. And it will hold you over until the Next New Thing from Apple is available

Nokia N8 Can not see who's calling / display won't...

Hi,
I have the problem that when I get a call my phone will ring but there is nothing seen onto the display.
When I use the unlock button on the side of the phone it unlocks and then I can see who's calling and take the call.
When I want to hang-up, the display stays off and I can't hang up. I need to use the button on the side again to activate the display and then hang up.
The same is with the alarm buzzer, I set my phone to wake me up in the morning.
When the alarm goes, I cannot turn it of directly.
I need to unlock the phone again with the button on the side of the phone and then I can press snooze or turn off alarm.
Does anyone has experience with this or has a solution?
It is a Nokia N8 got it now for 3 weeks and has the latest software on it.

If the phone is not functioning correctly, as already suggested, it should be returned to a Nokia Care Centre for repair under warranty !

If you see only 'CALL' when you receive a phone then most probably its an Operator issue. Check with your operator whether the Caller ID sevice is active ?

I experienced similar behavior (neither Keychain Access nor Safari would start, Chrome cannot access https sites, etc.). It got fixed by following instructions in this article:

Basically remove the ~/Library/Application Support/Ubiquity and restart. OSX will create a new one with the right permisions.

I can't hear an incoming call, but they can hear me

I can make a call, and it connects but I can't hear the person I'm calling. They can hear me. I figured out that I can hear only if I set the call on Speaker.

I have been told that the microphone is broken so will have to go to Apple to get it fixed! Explains the problem!

Turn the volume up... in call volume and sounds (ring, notifications, etc) are seperate volume controls.

Guys I have been using Sony Xperia Z1 since September last year and I am having a problem currently in which my voice clarity according to the people on the other line is blurry/not audible or not just clear seems to be some problem with my speaker i ran a diagnostic test and it passed all i can hear people when i use loud speaker and they can hear me back but when it comes to normal calls without the loud speaker they can't hear a thing please help although my headphones work when i call people thats the only way I am calling people right now! Any Solution would be appreciated! TY XO

Hi you can try to restore the phone(you will be losing all data so keep backup before doing it ) , any software related issue will be fixed, if not if you have any Sony centre nearby then you can carry your phone to there, they will be able to fix the problem Manjuboyz

Why people can't hear me during calls?

When I am calling someone I have to shout into my phone so the person can hear me. If I am within the same house or short distance from someone they can hear me fine but once it is far away call they can hardly hear me.   I went to apple store and they ran a test on my phone and they said it worked fine. I also want to the verizon store and reconnected it to the network.

Ereeamazing, you don't know that it is a network coverage. Or service provider issue, why would you even state that? Trying to further bloat your post count?
skycem, I had this same issue with a #Z30 model, and after much troubleshooting software it was determined to be a hardware issue.
I'd recommend a warranty replacement from your seller. I had to replace mine.
