Can't hook up kobo to my laptop

Bought a kobo arc so my Mother-in-law can read books.  Plug it into my MacBook Pro and the computer doesn't recognize the device. Tried downloading Caliber and the android transfer program but neither of them see the device either.

Which product? CS5 what? CS4 what?

I have an upgraded version of CS5 on my iMac desktop. Used the CS5 disk to install on my new Mac Book Pro but got a message saying it couldn't be installed because it's an upgrade and there is no CS 4 on the computer.
In that case, all you need to do is enter your CS4 serial no when prompted (to show you're eligible to install the CS5 upgrade on a computer with no prior versions installed) and the CS5 installer will continue.

You should be able to, I mean I have a iPod Touch 5th Genertion, and a iPod Nano 5th generation. Works perfectly fine for me for the both of them, it should for you.

  • I had a iPod befor it was on my moms laptop and know I got a iPhone and my own laptop how do I get my iTunes account on my laptop so I can hook my phone to my laptop on the same account as my iPod

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You first need to sign into the account in iTunes on your laptop, then you need to transfer the content from your moms laptop and import it into iTunes on yours. You can do this in a number of ways, either over a network, with an external drive, or even a USB stick.
If you go to iTunes preferences > advanced on your moms laptop, it will tell you where the original files can be found.

  • Can I hook up a laptop connect card to iPad?

okay, i want to make sure of this - if i get a Wifi iPad can I hook up a laptop connect card so i can have a connection no matter if i'm in a wifi hotspot or not? From what i understand there is no usb connections but i hear there may be a camera connect or some other piece of hardware i can attach to the ipad to allow for this? anyone? thanks.

Sorry, but it won't work. The camera connector kit doesn't provide enough power for a USB modem, and there is no way to install the required drivers at the OS level on an iPad.

  • My ipod is about 6 years old. I recently hooked it uo to my laptop and can sync my music but not my playlists

My ipod is about 6 years old. I recently hooked it up to my laptop and downloaded ITunes. I can sync my music but not my playlists in ITunes. My ipod is a classic 30GB ipod

One common cause of this is interference...try searching for other WiFi networks near you, see what channels they are using. Most folks just turn on their routers & the default channel is usually channel 1. You can try changing channels, with 1, 6 or 11 being the best, but find a channel that no network near you is using. See if that fixes things.

  • How can i hook my old ipod to my new lap top without loosing my music

how can I hook up my iPod touch to my new laptop without loosing my music files

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPod. Only if you back up your device manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your ipod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your iPod for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the device for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

Once you connect the two, your phone will show up as a new removable hard drive. Just open up your computer and look for a new letter. By the way, once you are hooked up, you will not be able to see anything on your SD card.
Whether you can use/see the SD card depends on the phone and on the chosen USB connect mode.  On some phones you will see two "drives", one the SD card, the other the internal storage used by the phone for apps.

  • Can i hook an A1082 monitor up to a windows monitor as a second one?

can i hook an A1082 monitor up to a windows monitor as a second one?

I agree Steve, to come out with a new monitor that everyone has been waiting for and wanting so badly...........and to have it only work with their new laptops ?!? Very, very frustrating. They definitely cut off a lot of sales by doing that. Including myself, I know of 4 people right now that would have already bought one if it worked with other Macs. You know they could make a connector that would work with the iMac, or any other Mac.......but they chose not to.
Sometimes it makes you wonder what they are thinking.
    ..........does me anyway.......
Hopefully they will change that, and make it available for other ones soon!

  • Can I Hook an Apple TV to an older TV that does not have HDMI Ports using a connector cable

I have an older Sony HD TV and would like to hook my Apple TV to that TV but it does not have HDMI Ports.  Can I hook my Apple TV to this TV through a cable adapter that converts HDMI to Component Video and Audio (Red Green Blue Video Cables, Yellow White Audio) or HDMI to S-Video.  I have both these connections on my TV.  Thanks

Thanks, I actually meant a converter box I just wanted to make sure that using that would work.  With Amazon FireTV Sticks for example I  jhave been told that only a direct HDMI connection to the TV would allow the device to work at all.

  • External video projector - How can I hook up my Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter onto my new MacBookAir if the machine does not have a mini port (but only 2 USBs and 1 Thunderbolt)?

    Hi
How can I hook up my DVI Adapter onto my new MacBookAir if the machine does not have a mini port (but only 2 USBs and 1 Thunderbolt)?
Is there a DVI adaptor already for Thunderbolt?
    Thanks,
    JFR

The Mini Display port and Thunderbolt port use compatible connector bodies. Your current Mini Display to DVI or VGA adapter will still work as before on the newer Thunderbolt capable machines.

  • My itunes is on an old computer.  So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years.  How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again?  Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.

My itunes is on an old computer.  So old that I can't update it and so Haven't used it in two years.  How can I move it to my new laptop and make sure this doesn't happen again?  Very frustrated that I've spend $$ but can't get my music.
I want so set up itunes on my laptop and make sure that I get all of my old music and any music shared from my sons' itunes accounts.  Do I have to set up itunes on my new laptop first and then use the same logins?  Really concerned about losing any music, etc.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have failed to move contacts and calendar items across you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Can i transfer my backup from one laptop to another?

I have my backup of apps and music stored in one laptop's iTunes account, how can I transfer my backup from one laptop to another?

iTunes downloads are not stored in a backup (that contains documents, files, camera roll photos, app content/settings etc), neither are the contents of the device's Music and Videos apps - instead a restore would look to pick up your music, films, apps etc from your iTunes library.
Your backups are stored under :
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then press Return.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, then choose Run. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then click OK.
You will need to copy the entire backup directory and copy it into the relevant directory on your other laptop - it should then automatically be picked up by that computer's iTunes and show on the Devices tab in Edit > Preference (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac) on it.

You can also use home sharing to copy content between computers : iTunes: Setting up Home Sharing on your computer.

  • I installed firefox on a new Win 8 laptop, and my account can not sync with my Win 7 laptop.

I recently purchased a new Win 8 laptop. When I installed firefox and go to sync in option, it doesn't give me the old 4x3 box with code. When I entered my email, it couldn't find my account either.
I am not sure where is the problem, because my old Win 7 laptop and HTC One X are both synced, when I could use the 4x3 box. The Win 7 firefox and Win 8 firefox are both ver 29.0.1, but the sync tab in option looks different.
In summary, I have two problems
    1) My old laptop has a sync account set up long ago, but not firefox is not recognizing my account by my email.
    2) My new laptop doesn't give me the 4x3 sync code.
    3) Just for safety, is there a way to export all of my firefox setting and bookmark from my win 7 laptop? This way I can have the files for backup, in case my sync account is corruptedd or something, and maybe I can import the files to the new laptop this way.
Please let me know if there are solutions to these problem. Thanks!

    Hi joey0352,
Yes check out the article about Firefox profiles:[[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
The profile folder will have all of the information stored in it on your Windows 7 computer. If you have any questions about moving the file we are happy to post back.
