Can't import due to permissions error
The new iMovie is driving me nuts. Every time I try to import clips from my Panasonic SDR-H200, I get a dialogue box which says: "Can't Create Event. The import was canceled. You may not have permission to write to Users/CHRIS/Movies/iMovieEvents.localized"
Can someone tell me what the **** this means and how I fix it? I have tried going to my movies folder and adding my User to read/write permission but it tells me I don't have high enough access rights.
Chris
Are you on a local area network or single machine? If you don't have read/write permissions on your own Movies folder there is a problem with your user account. If you are on a stand alone machine the user who set up the mac would be the administrator and would normally have rights to change the permissions on your folder. If you are supposed to be an administrator but can't change permissions try creating a 'root' user. Check out apple documentation for root user accounts though, you can really mess up your system if you don't know what you are doing. If you are a network user it will take someone with an administrator level account to change permissions.

Can't import due to permission error
I can't import or drag and drop these mp3's to my iTunes:
http://djjazzyjeff.com/blog/dj-jazzy-jeff-and-ayah-bring-holiday-cheer-with-xmas -time
I've never had problems adding songs to iTunes. I checked my permissions in the +i panel. Both my iTunes folder and the new mp3's are set correct with me as the admin to "read & write"...Chris

Can't import AVCHD from camcorder Error C0000005 at address:0
Every time I try to import any files from my camcorder I get a fatal error saying it can't import anything with an error code C0000005 at address 0. This is just the trial version as I'm trying to see if it will do what I want and so far I can't get it to so anything. PC is a Core I5 with 4gb ram and 200gb free drive space on Windows 7 64Bit. I don't like the Sony software so I was hoping this would do it. thanks for any ideas.

This is what I want you to try. I am assuming that you are in a NTSC area. Correct the following for PAL area if necessary.
Copy your AVCHD Full 1920 x 1080i (I am assuming recorded at 30 frames per second or designated 60 fields per second) with its 5.1 channel sound to your computer hard drive.
As you open Premiere Elements, set the project preset (new project dialog) = NTSC AVCHD Full HD 1080i30 5.1 channel.
Using Premiere Elements' Get Media/Files and Folders, bring the video from the saved hard drive location into the Premiere Elements Media/Timeline.
If you are not 100% sure of the quality in the Edit Mode Monitor, you could:
a. try right clicking the video on the Timeline, selecting Field Options from the pop up list, and then see if checking Reverse Field Dominance improves the quality of what you are seeing in the Monitor....I suggest that because I think that you probably recording to a memory stick.
b. render the Timeline by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard to get the best possible preview of the end product
Assuming that is a "go" and after completing your edits, head over to Create Menus. Do that. But, remember, because you have selected a HD project preset, the only DVD menu templates that will be available to you will be HD ones (and you are heading for a DVD-VIDEO widescreen). But, continue nonetheless. Let us see what it will look like.
After Create Menus, preview the menu buttons and the video there. If OK, continue to Share/Disc/Disc and burn to disc (do not get tempted into burn to folder or fall into ImgBurn just yet). In the burn dialog, set the preset for NTSC_Widescreen Dolby DVD that will give you DVD-VIDEO widescreen 16:9. In that same burn dialog, make sure that you have a check mark next to Fit Content to Available Space. When you have your DVD disc in the DVD burner tray, you will see a Quality area in the burn dialog. It will display values for Space Required and Bitrate. If the Bitrate is less than 8, the quality may be impacted because the program is having a problem fitting your content in the space required. But, keep moving forward and hit Burn.
Next, play that back on your TV DVD player and see what that looks like. I have gotten some pretty great results taking a AVCHD 1920 x 1080 to DVD-VIDEO 720 x 480 Widescreen playback on TV DVD Player. More details on that later. By the way, Premiere Elements does not offer Dolby Digital 5.1 channel sound for the export, just Dolby Digital Stereo. No Dolby Digital 5.1 channel sound even for BluRay.
I will be watching to see how you do.

Can't send to final cut- XML aborted import due to critical error
I'm having problems sending my color project from color back to final cut.
I'm working with HDV footage rendering in color @ full HD 1920X1080 apple pro res. I've used this work flow for now 15 episodes of a 30 minute outdoor adventure show I work on. I break the show into segments so color can handle the data better & I simplify/prep my project for color every time. It's freshly media managed- all speed changes have been swapped for QT's etc. I've never had this problem before. I tried to manually export /import XML's & I get to color fine but when I come back to final cut it tells me it aborted my XML import due to a critical error. PLEASE HELP! Produce 26 episodes a year & time is always of the essence.
The only thing I have changed since I used it & it worked fine was I updated my Decklink HD extreme drivers. Also I can open old projects & they work fine. I re-media managed & it didn't help. I also copied the sequence into a new project also without results.
Any help or ideas would be much appreciated. I've run out of my own.Did you happen to have updated Color recently?

Can't Import WMV Files - Header Error?
Hello, talented and attractive Adobe Forum. Weird problem with Premier Pro CS5 - when I try to import an AVI file I'm getting a message telling me that it can't import the file because of a header error. Can anyone tell me what that means, exactly? These AVI files were converted from MTS files using a freeware program, HD Converter, by Coyote. I've used this app before without a problem and the guy who's using my old software (CS3) is using these files without a problem. Any reason why CS5 might be having this issue with them?
Any advice or suggestions welcome and appreciated.
Thanks!thanks.
after reading about movie headers, i have come to believe that adobe could support wmv formats. but simply chooses not to do it.
apparently a lot of other software providers have made the same decision.
here is the really funny thing....i tried to make a dvd from the wmv files using microsoft's own dvd maker program
that they ship w windows 7. guess what - that does not work either!!!
apparently no-one, including microsoft, likes the proprietary microsoft format and don't feel like taking the time
to figure it all out. i cannot blame them.
what would be great - if adobe would just let you know that they do not support it, instead of the cryptic error message
about not being able to read the header. but then, adode is like that. they are so obtuse. they remain commited to
providing an incoherent user experience.
in the meantime, you just have to convert these formats.
I found a great shareware program called Hamster. It is totally free and has a lot of great reviews. It is easy to use. you
can get it on cnet.com.
I converted the WMV to AVI, which loaded into Premiere Pro and I was able to finish my video.

I get an error message when restoring an image that the restore failed - operation not permitted. I do not have "erase destination" checked. It was running for over an hour and then about half way through gave the error message.
I'm verifying the image as I type this. For the image to load successfully, do I need to have all the software installed already, like MS Office and other third party software for macs? Kind of reaching for a green limb at this point. I recently had to reinstall the OS due to a hardware issue and it has been running fine since the chips were swapped out. I updated the MAC OS with software updates after the hardware work was completed. Today I decided to restore the image backup using disk utility. And here we are. Tips, etc., would be greatly appreciated.Tried it again. Didn't work. But it's now clear to me that Lenovo R&R is failing to recognize the recovery disk that it created earlier today. R&R said the recovery media was successfully created, but I guess not.
I will try installing from a Win7 installation disc. Thanks for your help. -
Can't Import Footage 101 Unknown error
Hi, we are having some problems moving captured clips from one system to another. Both systems are on the same version of FCP (6.0.2) and QT (7.4.1). The clips were captured to a scratch disk on an external drive, then moved to a second external drive. The clips will open in Finder and QT on the second system, but when we try to import into FCP it says the following error "0 files recognized, 0 access denied, 101 unknown".
The first system is a Mac Pro (2x2.66GHz) the second is a brand new 20" aluminum iMac. Both running Leopard.
We just ftp'd a single clip from the MacPro to the iMac and it imported no problem. Permissions on the clips on the external drive (that aren't importing) show read and write access.
Any ideas? In the info box for the external drive, have you selected "ignore permissions on this drive"?
There was a post yesterday suggesting that if the user ids (esoteric Unix stuff) between the two machines don't match, Leopard won't let access happen but Tiger would. Don't know how this pans out for you but it would explain why FTPing the file would work but sneekerneting a drive wouldn't.
Good luck,

Apache permissions - can't get webserver up (permissions error)
I can't get the webserver on my iMac to work. I'm pretty familiar with apache and configuring it, but I'm just missing something here.. I would really appreciate some help diagnosing this.
The error I'm getting is "Forbidden / you don't have permission to access [whatever file] on this server."
The webserver is working fine on my MBP, and so I tried copying the httpd.conf file from it over to the iMac, but no worky. I diff'd the two files and the only difference is the AllowOverride (to take .htacess directives).
File permissions seem time fine too - /Library/WebServer/Documents directory belongs to root:wheel with 775. Actual files inside the DocumentRoot directory belong to my local user account. Same as the MBP, which, once again, is working fine.
So as it stands, the only difference between the current httpd.conf file and the default one is that I've turned on php support. By the way, the default httpd.conf file also causes the same problem.
Where do I look next? Thanks in advance -
StevenThanks, yeah I figured the favicon's not a big deal. This issue has been resolved - it was actually a simple exercise in permissions. I hadn't granted read access to "all", which is the realm where the user "www" sat. Silly oversight.
I did learn one new thing, however - the "x" bit needs to be set on permissions on all directories. Apache uses this as the search bit to look up resources in subdirectories (images, includes, etc.). To do this quickly I did:
find . -type d -exec chmod a+x {} \;
Thanks again for your response. -
After windows 8.1 update catalog can not open due to unexpected error
after my windows update the lightroom app will not open. i'm not tech savvy at all and don't know what to do to have this taken care of and being that I bought the product 112 days ago and not 90 or less I cannot speak to someone directly to help with the issue please help anyone if you can.
Try holding down the Ctrl (Win) / Command (Mac) key while launching Lightroom. This should get you the Catalog Manager. From here, create a new catalog and see if that opens. If it does, import your old catalog into it and it will most likely continue to work after that.

Can't import Flip video, getting error -2000
I'd like to view a number of videos made with a Flip Mino HD with an iPod Touch. I'm trying to convert them into iPod format using iTunes 10.0.0.68 on a Windows 7 computer. The videos are 1280x720 mp4.
I can play the videos in iTunes. Altough iTunes is a VERY SLOW player for these files. Other players on this machine (windows media player, vlc, etc) play the videos perfectly. This is a quad-core 3gHz box with 4gb of RAM, so it's not like it's resource-deprived. MP4 videos do require a lot of processing power, but like I said, other players have no trouble at all. iTunes, however, halts and stutters. Other players use about 17% of CPU for these, itunes needs 30% or more. That's not directly relevant to the issue here, just an observation. Anyway...
I can select a video track and then use Advanced->Create iPod or iPhone version. A 'Converting...' icon appears in the left sidebar and the track begins converting. I've tested this with a variety of clips. Even the simplest 22 second clip fails. It's about 29mb in size. I've tried it both from a local drive and from a network share. Same problems. The conversion progress bar appears to get around 75% complete and then it shows this error:
Error occurred while converting the file "2009-12-05 13 16 26". An unknown error occurred (-2000).
What does error -2000 mean in this context?
Where does iTunes create the converted files? What naming does it use for the newly converted movie?Candygirl,
Can you please give us a bit more information.
Knowing about your computer, the CPU, installed RAM, OS and especially the full details of your I/O, i.e. all of your HDD's, their size, speed, controller type amount of free space on each, plus how you have them allocated.
Then, knowing the settings for your Sequence would be useful, along with the full specs. of the Flip's MP4 files, would be useful.
Good luck, and thanks for that info,

I cloud calendar says can't save due to server error?
How do I fix this. I am trying to update I-cloud calendar on my windows vista computer and it says can't save server error.
I also have a co-worker that updates the calendar on her phone but no one can see her changes?Hi,
The issue is related to the temporary files when we using the Word 2013.
Look for anything ending with a TMP file extension or anything that starts with a dollar sign ($). Anything with the TMP extension can be deleted outright; anything that starts with a dollar sign can be deleted if it appears that the file is simply a Word
document with the dollar sign added as a prefix. You can find more information about Word's use of temporary files at this page in the Knowledge Base:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211632Note: You'd better backup the file in other disk before you modify.Quote from:http://wordribbon.tips.net/T009564_Cant_Save_Edited_Document.htmlPlease Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. QT can't import mpg (windows-file) Error-2048
Hello everybody,
as I'm brandnew to the MAC community I have my first problem which i thought would be the easiest to go. All my old mpg of the Windows-world are not importable to IMovie or any other programm.
I wanted all to convert them and burn them with my new Laptop but it seems not possible. errormessage is
file cannot be "imported" with QT due to 2048.
Is there anything I'm doing wrong or is there a workaround because I will still get windows files from the DVD-harddrive.
Any help is welcomeHi Thomas:
Welcome to discussions!
iMovie does not work with muxed MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 clips (and that's what you're trying to do)
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42996
You'll need:
MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 (free) and the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 from Apple).
http://www.alfanet.it/squared5/mpegstreamclip.html

Ipad2 can't synced due to unknown error (-50)
can someone help what this is?
i've now upgraded every thing to IOS5 and iMac to latest versions of itunes etc.Chris
Can't deploy due to Namespace error in ADF lib
Hi,
When deploying I'm getting a Namespace not valid error. Because adf-faces-impl-1013.jar contains XML files with a not valid namespace: http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/view/faces/agent/capabilities.
Please find below the error message:
GRAVE: jar:file:/D:/WebLogic103/user_projects/domains/My_Domain/lib/adf-faces-impl-1013.jar!/META-INF/agent/capabilities.xml: Parsing error, line 2, column 89:
org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Espace de noms non valide : http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/view/faces/agent/capabilities
at org.apache.myfaces.trinidadinternal.agent.parse.CapabilitiesDocumentParser.startElement(CapabilitiesDocumentParser.java:114)
Have you got any idea to solve my problem? Either indicating a good namespace which actually I don't know, or configuring Weblogic to avoid this validation? Or something else...
Environment: eclipse ganymede 3.4 , Oracle Enterprise Pack (OEPE), Weblogic 10.3, ADF faces
Thank you for your helpHi,
Actually the good library to use is: adf-richclient-impl-11.jar
After removing the old one from my classpath no more errors.
(thank you Maroun ;-)
