Can't Import DV-NTSC Clips!

IDVD5: When clicking on the Media tab in iDVD, there are two particular DV-NTSC clips that I can't get to show up. There are plenty of other such clips on the same drive that show up with no problem. I've even tried dragging these two clips directly to the Media window from the drive's Finder window, but that doesn't work either...iDVD simply will not accept these two clips.
All my clips originate from Final Cut Express and have been saved in the same DV-NTSC format. Both of the problem clips play perfectly from Quicktime. I checked all the video and audio properties of both clips. All the properties show the standard DV-NTSC properties.
Out of exasperation, I opened one of the problem clips in Quicktime and exported it as new, standard DV-NTSC clip. The resulting clip won't import into iDVD either!! As I've said, I've got plenty of other similar clips on this same drive that show up just fine. I'm completely stumped!

I've even tried dragging these two clips directly to the Media window from the drive's Finder window, but that doesn't work either...
Have you tried dragging them into a Menu directly from the Finder?
I assume they have a .dv extension?

  • Can't import audio from clip into Premiere Pro CC.

I can export a clip, with audio, from Premiere Pro, but when I import it back into PP the audio track is missing.  I noticed that when I delete the .xmp file from the file folder the audio will import with the clip successfully.  Can someone please instruct me as to how I can edit the .xmp file so as to correct this problem?  Thanks.

I export a clip using the "match sequence settings".
Mmm, don't ever use that.  It's for people who don't know what they're doing, and often causes more problems that it solves.
Better to know what you're doing and set up your export manually.  Try that, then report back what happens.

  • Can't import ACVHD video clips into FCE?

First, I've read so many forum comments on this I'm blue in the face, but i've still not found a solution. I've spent the better part of a week reading on this issue and still no joy, so please don't ask me to search - I've done that. To set up my issue...
I have a brand new Canon Vixia HF-R32 camcorder. I shot video in ACVHD (MXP) onto the camera's internal memory. I'm using Final Cut Exoress 4 on a MacBook running 10.7.4 I have a new external terabite HD set as scratch disk.
When I connect camera to computer to download clips things work to a point. I use Log and Transfer and my clips show up in the window. I can set in and out points. I can change the clip name, add scene notes, etc. etc. BUT - when I click the "Add to Que" the problem occurs. The video begins to 'process' as indicated by the little spinning status wheel. However - nothing ever shows in the transfer bar that should show the progress being made in the transfer. When the spinning wheel stops and I click on the clip I get a red circle with exclamation point and the message "Error: No Data."
YES - I have checked preferences under the gear at top of the L&T window and YES my settings are for All formats, All rates, Apple Intermediate Codec and the audio is set to Plain.  That much I gleaned from other posts in various forums, but that does nothing to solve my issue. I've also checkedunder Easy Set Up and have Apple Intermediate set there.
Tonight I spent time on phone with friend who has same type (but Panasonic) camera and same software. We compared many, many settings and all seemed to be set the same. He can import video, I cannot. When he either drags and drops clips from the L&T window or uses the "add to que" button, the status wheel spins, the transfer bar moves and when complete his clip shows up in the original FCE window for editing. Mine does not.
the software recognizes my camera, the clips are either loaded or accessed by the software, I can play the clips in the FCE viewer to set in and out points. Video and audio there is fine, but when I add to que it all falls apart.
I've already bought two video format softwares to change the MTS files to something else but that's not the route I want - I don't want to lose all the resolution. So amyone have any ideas how to get ACVHD files into FCE??? I'm about to shoot either the camera or me to put one of us out of our misery! This can't be that complicated as the ACVHD is a hugely common format.
    Any help most kindly appreciated

Have you verified that your copy of FCE has been updated to 4.0.1?

  • Can i import iDVD video clips to my iTunes library?

i created a video clip of a music video from a movie and i want to transfer it to my iTunes library. is this possible? if so, how do i do this?
    -thanks

Assuming it isn't copy protected yes. It's possible. Look into EyeTv products from a company called Elgato. And I believe Apple TV can do this as well.

Roxio also offers software solutions to accomplish your objective. And so do a number of others like:

  • How can I import "extracted audio" clips from iMovie project into iTunes?

I imported my home video into iMovie HD 6.0.1 and extracted the audio. How can I get the extracted audio clip (aiff format) into my iTunes playlist?

I just tried to answer your question over in the iMovie forum. Have a look over there.

  • I can't import any movies/clips

I have an U2 iPod. But since I got a new laptop (read: vista), I haven't been able to import movies to my ipod. I converted them to mpg4, but I cannot drag and drop them into itunes like I used to be able too. I have to 'file>import files to library' it so they will apear in my itunes. But when I connect my iPod, itunes doesn't synchonize them to my iPod...
I converted to almost everything now (all sorts of mpg4 the converter has) I'm trying .mov now.... Last resort is to convert the avo to flv, and than to mpg4 again...

Then just drag the files/folders from your hard drive into FCP.  Don't use the IMPORT option...just drag and drop.
The problem started when you installed an OS that doesn't support FCP 7.  So if you want things to work smoothly, it's best to go back to an OS that did support FCP 7. Yosemite was written without taking FCP 7 functionality in mind, so it isn't fully functional. It might not do one thing for someone...but works for you in that respect. But then you can't do something else. The ways it doesn't work is always random.  Or it might work great for some people, because they don't use functions that might no longer work....so they don't notice it.

  • Can't import just one clip

iMovie only allows me to import ALL the movies from a digital video camera instead of being able to select the ones that we want to import only. Any and all suggestions to fix this is welcomed. Thank you.

On the import screen, change from Automatic to Manual and  select the clips you want to import.

  • I have an old project with AVCHD clips and I want to import the clips again with surround sound. How can I relink the project clips to the re-imported ones without doing the project from the begining?

I have an old project with AVCHD clips and I want to import the clips again with surround sound. How can I relink the project clips to the re-imported ones without doing the project from the begining?
I have a sony handicam and I imported the clips to iMovie and they lost quality and converted the audio to stereo. I want to import the project to final cut X and import the AVCHD in 1080p and surround sound and export the movie in bluray. Can I relink the clips without editing everything again?
    thanks!

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view.
Photos that were synced from a computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from and then re-syncing. If you want to remove them all then normally you could just sync an empty folder (in terms of photos) to the iPad, but as you don't want to sync at the moment you can't do that.
You can reset the iPad back to factory settings and start from scratch with it : Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings

  • Can I import clips using a frame rate of 60 or higher?

I have a sony cx260v that allows me to record in a rate of 60 fps. However when I attempt to upload the footage taken in this frame rate to iMovie 11 9.0.4 it shows as a blocked clip and does not allow me to upload.
    Any ideas?

Yes, you can re-import them, but it's not that straightforward, and you loose some quality in the process. Search for "MPEG Streamclip" or "DVD camcorder" in this forum, and you will find lots of answers.
Alternatively, you can make data DVDs with your DV clips. Simply pop in an empty DVD, and drap the DV clips you want to export into the burn folder. A normal DVD can hold about 20 minutes of DV clips, a dual layer DVD twice as much.

  • Premiere CS5 import avi clips without sound. How can I import avi clips with sound without convert?

    Dear Adobe Forum,
I have the following problem, please help:
I would like to import avi clips in adobe premiere. All clips have the same avi codec. But unfortunately my adobe premiere does not import the sound of a few
avi clips. It is wired because about 10 out 70 avi clips which have all the same avi codec does not work with sound in premiere CS5. In the timline premiere import the video and audio line but there are no audio waves in the about 10 avi clips. additonally premiere plays the 10 avi clips in the source monitor without sound. Furthermore when I open the 10 avi files without adobe premiere they have sound, but with premiere there are no sound in the 10 avi clips.
What can I do, so that I can import all avi files with sound. I do not want to convert each of the avi files because then they have not a good quality and it is to complicated and it takes to much time to convert all files in this video project and in the other video project in my future.
Consequently How can I import all avi files so that they have immediately sound? Do I have to change some premiere settings?
    Thank you in advance
    Leonardo

  • I figured out how to snap a still photo of a movie clip, but where then does it go, and how can I import it into my iPhoto library?

I was working in iMovie and discovered how to take a still photo of a movie clip.  Now I can't find that still photo!  Where did it go, and how can I import it to my iPhoto library?

Just found out and it is simple.  When you find a frame in your video/movie of which you want a still photo or screen shot, just go to the frame and click on command, shift and the #3 in quick succession.  You will hear a "click" like a camera taking a photo.  The screen shot will then go to your desktop where you can drag it to iPhoto or an e-mail, or anywhere you like.  Also you can rename the screen shot by double clicking on the wording under the screen shot on your desk top. Whew!

  • How can I import clips as HD from my Canon FS300

    Hello all:
Newbie here.  I am using Premier Pro CS 5.5 and a Canon FS300 camcorder.  The camcorder generates .MOD files that I can successfully import to PrPro.  The .MOD files are HD 1440x1080 and when I look at them on VLC they appear as HD clips.  After importing to PrPro, however, they look to be 4:3 aspect ratio and kind of squashed horizontally.  When I create a new sequence I select HD>HDV 1080i or one of the other HD selections -- it doesn't seem to matter.
Is there a way to import my clips from the camera's SD card such that I get HD format in the Source panel?
    Thanks,
    Kevin H.

Well, I followed John Smith's advice and started with the thread he quoted in his reply to my original post.  This led me to a couple of other interesting threads, and I found Gilles Bihan's Converio conversion program for Windows.  I contacted Gilles to ask if he had a Mac version and he sent me this link:
    http://www.converio.fr/iconverio_189.htm
for use with Macs.  It's in French, but I was able to dicipher it enough to download the free version and run it against my Canon FS300 .MOD files and it worked!  It generated .AVI files that successfully loaded into Premier Pro as widescreen clips.  Hooray!  Thanks, Gilles.  M. Biher also offers additional functionality for ten to twenty five Euros.  I may go for the upgrade to see if I can convert to MPEG2.
    Problem solved for now.
    Thanks for the help.
    Kevin H.
