Can't import from home share with same account

Hi all,
I have this really annoying problem that some of the content of my iTunes library on one computer cannot be imported to the other one, because "this computer is not authorized".
That is, of course, bollocks.
The scenario:
MacMini Server = mac1
Macbook Pro = mac2
- Both machines have itunes signed into the same account
- Both machines have home sharing enabled
- mac2 is the "master", it's where I buy music etc. and mac1 is the machine I use to stream off at home, it's always on etc.
When I purchase anything new, I can transfer those purchases just fine via the import function. However, I have probably about $200 worth of music in the mac2 iTunes which _plays fine_ on mac2, however, it is not transferrable to mac1 due to mac1 not being authorized (but it is).
Is it possible I purchased that music with a different account and somehow managed to authorize mac1 to play it? If so, how can I find out?
Cheers
- Balt

I will reply with the error message as soon as I can. Thanks!

  • If I already purchased apps from my iPhone with same account, where are they?

I have purchased many apps in the last year or two with my iphone using apple apps but when I try to find those apps for downloading to my macbook air, they're not there. It makes it seem as if I need to repurchase them again using the same account. Is there something I need to do to find them?

    Welcome to Apple Communities
You need to purchase them, because iOS and OS X are different and requires different apps

  • Can't import from home shared computer

Okay here's the deal. My mom, who has her computer in the basement, got an iPad. Her computer didn't recognize it or find the driver. She uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes but keeps getting error messages that it didn't install correctly.
A new unit needs to be connected to a computer in order to even turn on so I brought the unit upstairs and got it all set up on my computer. It's working fine. my mom wants all her music and movies from her computer put on the iPad. I turned on home sharing, both computers can view eachothers libraries, but I do not have an import option. I can listen to the songs but can't do anything else with them.
I have Windows Vista and my mom has XP. Could that be the problem? Could it be because she doesn't have iTunes on her computer properly installed? How can we fix this? We've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes but it still comes up with the error. I will reply with the error message as soon as I can. Thanks!

  • Can't import from connected cameras in one account any more

I recently started having the following problem, which seems very solvable, but has me stumped:  when I am in my main user account, if I connect a camera (usually by just mounting the SD card via a USB adapter, but all types of mounting seem to be equivalent), it shows up in the finder and I can manually copy images over from it, but Image Capture, iPhoto, Graphic Converter, etc., are unable to import images from it.  I usually use Image Capture, so I'm most familiar with the behavior there:
    1) Usually the card shows up, but is not selected when I launch Image Capture.  If I select it, it may show some images and load preview thumbnails for a few of them before stalling out, or it might just show no images.
    2) If I quite and relaunch, I either get "no devices" or I see the device and no images on it (approximately alternating).
    3) If I eject the card in the finder and put in a different card, and then re-launch Image Capture, it still shows me the old card (but again, still with no images)
    4) Trying to import in GraphicConverter, etc., always just lead to a spinning beach ball.
The kicker is that it works fine in other user accounts, so I know it has something to do with settings— I just can't figure out where.  I've tried reformatting the card that first gave me trouble (before discovering that it was fine in other accounts, and all cards give trouble in this account).   I've tried deleting the preference file "com.apple.Image_Capture.plist", and all of the "com.apple.Image_Capture.*.plist" preference files in the 'ByHost' directory.
Is there another preference file that I'm missing????
    Thanks!

Oh- maybe it's not just in one account, after all. Things had appeared better in other accounts, but it looks like soon after Image Capture has finished trying to read/cache all the thumbnails, things hang up in the other account, too.  Subsequent launches of Image Capture show either no devices attached at all, or an outdated list of devices, which can't be inspected (no images).
Could this be a problem with too many images on a card?  There are about 3000 images on one card involved...

  • TS2972 I can't access to Home Sharing with my account in any of my devices.

Hello! I've been trying to access to the Home Sharing option on iTunes and this is as far as I have gone. The same for my other devices, including my Apple TV and iPad. Any ideas? I need your help please.

I was having a similar problem.  My devices weren't waking my iMac. My airport is in bridge mode connected by Ethernet to Verizon router.  My Mac was connected to my airport by Ethernet also.  With this configuration my devices would not see my iTunes libraries.  I ended up disconnecting the Ethernet between airport and Mac. Turned my Mac wifi on, connected to my wi fi network.  Now with my Mac sleeping my devices can see the iTunes library and wake the Mac when needed.
Not sure if you can use this info but there it is.

  • Home Share with two accounts.. a little help

Just bought my first iPad and I have an iPhone provided by my company so I have two accounts.. can I share my personal music with my company iPhone?

You can use homesharing with different iTunes accounts.
The device will need to be authorised or associated with the other account and all devices will need to use the same Apple ID for homesharing, regardles of which ID is used for the iTunes account.

  • I am trying to home share with my sister. I have it down to where I can copy the songs, but I just don't have the "import" button. So it won't allow me to do anything with the songs from her computer. What should I do now?

I am trying to home share with my sister. I have it down to where I can copy all the songs I want, but it won't allow me to import them because my iTunes doesn't show the "import" button at the bottom. So what do I do now?

I have reinstalled the drivers. I watched it install the realtec and cirrus drivers. Hovering the mouse over the speaker icon says 'speakers: HP'. They are actually 'Creative'. 'Properties' indicates 'IDT High Definition CODEC' and 'This device is working correctly'.
    Driver details gives 'c:\Windows\system32\drivers\dmk.sys'.
There is still no sound, although the little level meter on the control shows a green bar rising and falling.
Obviously, it thinks it's working, but there's no connection to the speakers. They're not muted, either. I checked that too.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks.

  • How can I share the home folder with different accounts on the same mac?

    Hi, here's a question:
How can I share the home folder with different accounts on the same mac?
The whole point being not to have to install all my apps, and move all my files each time between users.
The second thing would be to be able to modify one document on one account, and have it changed on the other account without having to copy it.
I would like to have a pro and a private account on my mac.
    Thanks for you answers,
    Doug

Your apps should not be installed in your home folder--they should be in /Applications where every user can access them.
If you want to share things between users on the same Mac, use the /Users/Shared folder. Keep your home folder private. Trying to defeat the protections on the home folder subfolders just gets messy. I've never bothered to figure out all of the problems associated with it so I can't explain how to do it.
Even with using Shared, you would need to alter the ACLs on the shared folder in order to allow both users to modify the documents.
You must create a Group in Users & Groups and put each user in that group. Then create a folder inside /Users/Shared where you want to share the various files.
Then, add an ACL to the shared folder that gives the group special permissions. on that folder.
    sudo chmod -R +a "<sharinggroup> allow delete,chown,list,search,add_file,add_subdirectory,delete_child,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /Users/Shared/<sharing folder>
Replace <sharinggroup> and <sharingfolder> with the name of your group and your folder. Then, run the command in the Terminal.
With that ACL, each user in <sharinggroup> will be able to alter the files created by any user in the group in that <sharingfolder>.
Essentially, the client OS is not designed for true file sharing among the individual users. It is designed to isolate each user account from the others.

  • My family and I share the same account of apple. I'm getting phone calls and messages from my mothers and my number and  vice versa. is there anything we can do

my family and I share the same account of apple. I'm getting phone calls and messages from my mothers and my number and  vice versa. is there anything we can do

The short solution is to go to Settings > FaceTime > iPhone Cellular Calls OFF.
However, as Csound points out, you should not really be sharing an Apple ID with anyone. See: How to Stop Sharing an Apple ID.

  • HT4557 I have a MacBook Pro using my Apple ID and Password, can I home share with my wife's iPad that uses her Apple ID and password

I have a MacBook Pro using my Apple ID and Password, can I home share with my wife's iPad that uses her Apple ID and password

You have to all be signed into the same Apple ID and on the same WiFi network, but yes you can do it. You have to sign into her Apple ID on your iPad in the store settings.

  • HT4557 can I home share with an iPad & iPhone?

can I home share with just an iPad and an iPhone?

The HT4557 article you attached above says:
With Home Sharing in iOS 4.3 or later, you can stream your entire iTunes library over your home Wi-Fi network from your Mac or PC right to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
But if you tell us exactly what you're trying to do (e.g., play music from an iPad to a home WiFi system connected by AirPort Express), there may be a way (e.g., AirPlay, documented here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4437

    Yes.
This allows you to view your videos & music from iTunes on the computer to the iPhone (in the Videos & Music apps).
On the iPhone, Settings > Music (or Videos) enter your AppleID under Home sharing.
Open Music or Videos, tap ••• More then Shared.

can my ipad home share with my laptop

I have both my computer and the ipad2 running homeshare, and both on the same wifi and both signed into same apple ID.  The homeshare on the ipad works fine, the computer shows up, I can click it and see everything on the computer, but for some reason the computer doesn't see the ipad.  The Home share doesn't even show up on the left of itunes on the computer.  Any suggestions?
