Can't import iPad videos in Final Cut Pro X

Hello there, anyone knows if there are recent issues in importing iPad videos into Final Cut Pro X?
I follow the ordinary workflow, and it all seems ok but at the end of the importing process a "!" yellow triangle remains attached to the imported clip and this one can't be played.
Already tried to make a high quality conversionand/or a proxy, the conversion process seems to start but it doesn't go further than 0%.
Thanks in advcance for your help.
PS: the videos have been teaken with the "Video Pro" app an then exported to the iPad "film roll".
PPS: in the importing window the clips can be played normally.

Russ, I succeed in importing some files by transcoding them in a proxy one by one (that is not in a work queue). Some other files simply stops the rendering process and make it hang until the closing of FCPX. Thanks for your time.

  • Can I import a video from Final Cut Pro

I'm doing a :45 sec. video clip in Final Cut and Kinemac for a local church. They want pre-recorded backround music that fades out at the end. Can I import this video into GB for the music..
    Thanks.
    NN

What do you mean by "this video"? The FCP file? No, but any rendered version: Show the video track in GB and pull the video over.
The question is: Why would you want to do this? If it's just about fading out the music, as you write, FCP will happily do that for you.

  • Need help: Can't import old video into Final Cut Pro X or iMovie

I am trying to import some footage from my old camcorder into my iMac.
I have a Sony DVMC-DA1 connected via firewire. The setup works great in iChat. We were able to video chat to my wife's computer and she could see and hear the camcorder footage. iMovie does not recognize the device at all. Final Cut Pro recognizes it. It appears in the Camera Import window, but when I try to import some footage, nothing gets recorded. Oddly, there are two time counters in the import window. The one on the left increments as the footage 'imports' but the one on the right stays at zero.
My iMac is the newest 2011 model and I am using the latest versions of iMovie and FCPX.
How do I get either iMovie or FCPX to import my footage from the DVMC-DA1?

This guy did a tutorial for 2 free ways of importing video over FW:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVqkSlaTr-k
They both should accept any video over FW. The link for Vidi is old, here's where to find it: http://www.mitzpettel.com/
    Good luck.

at the end, you say "import preferences", which program are you describing?
So im safer using footage that is remotely being pulled from iphoto...
    vs
using footage that is imported into FCP from imovie?
Is there anything i can do in fcp to make this footage more reliable or safer or more stable as i pull remotely from iphoto?
All the footage, and all the libraries to all programs, or on a new pegasus 12tb raid 5 setup fyi.

  • Can not import MXF files into Final Cut Pro

I am full of anger and frustration!!! I purchased final cut pro only to find out that it WILL NOT import MXF files. How insane is that? ADOBE - NO PROBLEM. Then I had to go back to YOUR STORE and buy two different file converter applications before I found one that worked. Now FINAL CUT PRO will only import the audio segment of converted files after converting to PRORES in PAVTUBE. Are you BUCKING kidding me? This work flow BLOWS. Why the FELL does this have to be sooooo hard!  I am gone to creative cow and other forums to try to find out why I am sooo stupid that I can't get this simple process sorted out. YOU BUCKING MONEY MACHINE! How many more aps will I have to buy before I can edit CANON XF100 files in Final Cut Pro. BUCK politics! You should make your software with plugins that would allow you to edit without this kind of added step. JUST LIKE ADOBE. I want refunds for my final cut pro purchase. This is BUCKING rediculous. What a waste of time!

Good thing I still have an iMac on Snow Leopard with FCP7 where I can import these files.  I was hoping to upgrade that system next month when the new iMac comes out
There is definite upside to dragging one's feet on upgrades until necessary and this is a prime example. On a desktop running 10.6, and the XF Utility, FCP 7 L&T works reliably. And like you, that's my workflow for FCPX projects. Running 10,7 on a laptop, the EOS plug-in works well for FCPX imports – no workarounds needed. When I finally get around to updating, I will partition the HD, with one SL partition and the other partition with a later OS. Of course this strategy will work only as long as my hardware holds up.

  • How do I import GoPro video into Final Cut Pro X?

I'm about to purchase Final Cut Pro X (10.1.4). Will I be able to import my GoPro files? Do I have to convert them to another file type? Has anybody imported GoPro video into their projects? I believe that GoPro Studio can convert the video files into GoPro Cineform files that you're supposed to be able to import into 3rd Party Applications such as Final Cut Pro X.
If you have any advice, I would very much appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Kiki

I just copy the Gopro MP4 files on to a hard drive then import the media into a FCPX library. I have had no issues with dealing with GOPRO videos, but I am running a Hero 2 and a hero 3+.  I am no expert on it, I just do it.

  • Can you import Quicktime movies into Final Cut Pro X

I have a one week old Macbook Pro retina which replaces my old iMac 24 with Snow Leopard. After my purchase, I found out that Mountain Lion will not support FCE 4. The problem is that I have a lot of unfinished FCE projects and a lot of video clips that were imported using Final Cut Express 4 "Log and transfer" on my external drive. I was going to purchase Final Cut Pro X and edit them on  my new computer but first I was going to convert them to Quicktime videos. So my question is, can I open Ouicktime movies for editing in Final Cut Pro X? Or perhaps someone has aneasier way for me to achieve what I am trying to do.
    Thanks in advance........

all of the videos that I imported using "Log and transfer" will only open in FCE 4.
Do you mean the media in the capture scratch folder? These don't open in any other application? Not in the QuickTime player?
If you mean the FCE project files, that's correct they will only open FCE4 or FCP7.

  • Cannot Import AVCHD Video in Final Cut Pro X

I have done this before. Final Cut Pro X before let me import all of my AVCHD footage but now, when I click import footage, It opens up to the camera. Any help?

Use Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion to trash your preferences. Repair permissions in the Disk Utility.
Doesn't matter if the card has worked before if it it isn't working now.
Don't open the card ot access the MPEG files with any software. All you can do is damage it.
Can you view the media on the card in the camera playback system?
Relaunch FCP with the card mounted. Open camera import. If it doesn't appear click on Open Archive. Select the card on the desktop. Do not open the card. Just select the card and click OK. What happens exactly?

mpeg streamclip and DVDxDV will convert DVD VOB files into workable DV files.
Mpeg streamclip is free, and can be found at versiontracker.com
DVDxDv costs $25, and can be found at dvdxdv.com

  • Can't Export Any Videos From Final Cut Pro X?

    Hello all-
I just downloaded FInal Cut Pro X today, and as I tried exporting my first video to YouTube, I found I had no luck. I am able to select the option to export to YouTube, enter in my account details, edit the video preferences, but when I click submit nothing happens. The little export box just disappears. This happens for every single one of my share options.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? I'm a little peeved that I just spent 300 dollars on a software that doesn't even let me export the video.
    Thanks much,
    Megan

Did you open the background task window?

  • How can I import DVD footage in Final Cut Pro X

I want to edit a showreel of my own work in Final Cut Pro X (version 10.1.4). A lot of my old footage is only available on DVD. I need to get this footage into Final Cut Pro X but don't know how to do this. There are programs to convert DVD to DV but I don't know which one to use, and how to use them.

The script provided by MPEG Streamclip worked for me.
But there is an alternate way, which is basically doing by hand what the script does.
The actual component that is needed is stored inside an archive file in the inside the package. This file needs to be copied to a place where the system can see it.
Here are detailed instructions. Be sure you fully understand before putting any files in the Library folders, as described below. No guarantees, but if followed correctly I believe this works.
    1) Double-click the .dmg file.
    2) Inside there are two folders. Open the one that says "For Quicktime 6.4 or later..."
    3) Control-click the QuickTimeMPEG32.pkg and choose "Show Package Contents".
    4) Copy the file "Archive.pax.gz" somewhere else on your mac - I will use the Desktop as an example.
    5) Double click the copy of "Archive.pax.gz" on your desktop. It will expand and create a folder on the desktop called "System".
    6) Inside the folder called "System" is a folder "Library" and then "Quicktime", with a single file called "QuickTimeMPEG2.component".
This is the file that MPEG Streamclip needs!
    7) I suggest you place this file in your own user's Library. To do this, hold down the option key and select Library from the Go menu in the Finder. There, if it does not exist already, create a folder "QuickTime" and copy the component there. This should work.
Note: the script actually places the component in a different location - one which I think should not be messed with (inside /System/Library).
I think it should work in the user's Library, but if not I would put in /Library (the Library at the root of the drive) before trying the location above.

  • I can't export my video from final cut pro.

I'm having trouble exporting anything from final cut pro x because there isn't any share button that I was use to before. It pretty much seems like there are no options seeing as they have simplified it to the point where there are no longer any options. Anyways here is a screen shot of my final cut hopefully someone will be able to help me.

The Share menu changed in 10.0.6, and is now customizable from the Preferences of FCPX:
You find the Share menu to the far right in the toolbar, as dastoelk wrote.

  • Can I import .dat files into FInal Cut Pro?

Hi..I received 2 .dat files which play in Quicktime. They are pieces of 2 movies which were converted from Video and given to me on a cd disc with a wesite.
I want to edit the movies and also lighten them up, because they is very dark.
I am wondering if I can do it in FCP? And how would I get them in there, make a duplicate (in order to save these originals) and then do editing and use them both for the website, as a mpeg4 or 3 and also as files for output to cd's? Can I get them out of the .dat file format? I have FCP 4.5.
Obviously, I know nothing about this. And I have posted this also in QT and iMovie..to see what I can do. Thank you.

    Thank you.
    I will try this.
I cut a cd on Toast 7 and it plays on my DVD player, but still in the DAT format.
I was also given this link
You may want to try this freeware and use it to convert the dat file to a DV Stream which you will be able to open in iMovie, do your editing, and then export or "Share" to a .mov file. Mpeg StreamClip < </div>
    http://www.squared5.com/
I will try what u have written first, as it seems simplist.
I also found out that these clips are in PAL format. Will that matter?
Thanks for the info from Apple. I am in India and will see how I can do this.

  • Problems with importing Hi8 video to Final Cut Pro

I'm using FCP 5 and trying to import video in using the Canopus ADVC110 to my imac 10.4.1. My problems are:
    1. I'm unable to capture audio.
    2. The log and capture time code runs without prompting.
    3. The log and capture controls do not control my camera - perhaps because there is an intermediary box, the canopus, that is in its way?
I realized this is not just a FCP question but anyone with any advice would be appreciated because I have a doc ready to be edited and I need to get it digitized. Thanks,

i have to settings on my "vhs" capture box thing
    analog and digital....
    is my hi-8 camera analog?
its a sony ccd-trv -21....i think thats the model number...
i set it to non controllable device....the camera seems to be recognized but i cant
get the picture or audio to capture..but it definately detects my cam.,....
what settings besides non controllable device should there be in my fcp (latest editiion)
im going digital out from cam to rca in my conversion box...and then firewire to firewire on my comp....
    thanks

  • Can't import mov files into Final Cut Pro

I can't seem to import some .mov files into FCP.  The codecs showing in "info" for the files are DV/DVCPRO - NTSC, Linear PCM, Timecode.  I have other files which I can import into FCP and they show the exact same codecs in their info page.  I have no trouble opening either in Quicktime.

What is the origin of these files?  You may want to use QT or Compressor to re-encode them to the same codec.  Possbily they are very old QT versions.  But yes, where did they originate from?
