Can't import MP3's

I have a CD with MP3's on when I insert it into iTunes it plays OK, but they will not import? I can't browse the CD (the MP3's don't show up, it shows a .exe file)
I can get the files into my Music folder, but can't drag the files down to a created folder to organize, it shows the 'No Entry' sign.
I have the files saved in folders on my desktop, but when I go to import them again it just duplicates them in the music folder, then still can't move them.
What am I doing wrong?

The game.exe file is on the CD, I have managed to get all the songs into the music playlist, I'm trying to organise them into folders so that when the iPod is sync'd the songs can be selected via the folders. Like prayers, teachings etc (Buddhist). I have done this on my own personal iPod and it works fine, it won't work on this friends iPod? There are two folders on the iTunes desktop, with multiple items in both, but when I sync it the songs are all as individual entries, but the teachings even though they are in the library are not showing on the iPod?
I have tried to do as you mention, "ommand File > Add Folder to Library, and point it to the new folder." but once the folder on my PC's desktop is selected, nothing happens.
When I try to drag the entries from the Music folder to the new created folders on the iTunes desktop; it shows the 'No Entry' sign. This is the way that I organised the songs into the folders, which worked on the iTunes desktop, but not when the iPod is synced

Save the file from Gmail onto your computer and add it to iTunes. How you save from Gmail is a Gmail question (their own support pages), not an iTunes question.

I am using Flash and Soundbooth CS4, I have been working in XP and in Vista. Just moved to Win7 and now the same MP3s we have been using for years will not import to Flash. We have always used Sample Rate 48000 mono and Bitrate 48 Kbps mono. I downloading the trial version of Audition CS5 and with the same Sample Rate and Bitrate the files import fine. Another gentlemen that works with me verified the same issue on his Win7 machine. I bought the eLearning Suite that comes with Soundbooth, so I would not like to have to purchase Audition.
Any other ideas on this are very much appreciated.

Can't import MP3 Files into iTunes 10.6.1

I'm a long time user of iTunes and haven't had any problems until the last couple of days. I use a Macbook Pro with my iTunes Library on an external drive - I was trying to demonstrate using the iTunes store to a friend and created a temporary iTunes libary on my local disk (away from my office). I then switched back to my iTunes library on the external drive but some music had disappeared. It is in the correct folder in the library. So as a lst ditch effort I created a new library on another disk (I was running out of space anyway). Now I can't import anything with an extension of mp3.
Any help would be appreciated

MOV is a container format which may contain all kinds of codec, while iTunes only import MOV whose video codec is DV, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, or AIC.

Can't import mp3 file from desktop.

I can't import a mp3 file from my desktop. When I tried to import the file, nothing happened no matter how I tried to import it. Itunes is up-to-date and the diagnosis can't detect anything wrong. I tried using Stream on the website where I found the file, but nothing happened. Please help!

"Nothing happened" is iTunes's way of saying the file is not compatible.
Did you try playing the file in another player, such as Windows Media Player or Winamp, to make sure it is a valid MP3?
If it is valid, but iTunes will not accept it, it may have minor corruption. In that case, treat it with a 3rd party cleanup app such as MP3Val. That is usually sufficient to make iTunes happy.

I can't import MP3 files - why?

I'm new to iTunes, and am wondering why I can't permanently import MP3 files that are currently on a DVD into my iTunes library. (Right now, iTunes will only recognize the songs when the DVD is in the computer). Is there any way that I can permanently move them into my iTunes library, so that I can then download the songs to my iPod?

I'm sorry for all the questions, but when I previously tried to add the files from the DVD to iTunes library (using the File -> Add file (or Folder)command), it created new folders in my iTunes library for the files, but they were empty. So, when I tried to download everything from iTunes into my iPod, the iPod said that the songs "couldn't be found". That's why I was so upset --after spending two hours thinking that I was importing selected songs into my iTunes, I learned that I was really only creating empty folders for them...!

When I try to import mp3 files into iTunes (version 6), I get an error message of:
The file "song file name" can not be imported An unknown error has occurred (-50).
I have already imported these files into iTnes on my old computer, but run into this problem with my new laptop. I downloaded a new version of iTunes just like I installed all my new programs on this new laptop.
For some reason, I run into this problem when trying to import any mp3 files (as mentioned, even mp3 files that I successfully imported into iTunes previously).

1) find an MP3 file on your file system (in Windows Explorer)
2) Right click on it to get contextual menu
3) Select Properties
4) on the General Tab the text "opens with" appears - in your case it'll be windows Media Player
5) Click Change
6) Select ITunes
7) Select Always for this type checkbox
8) Now try double clicking on an MP3 file
9) Does it start playing in ITunes?
10) Check Itunes settings: Edit>Preferences>Advanced
11) Are the checkboxes Keep Itunes folder organized and Copy to Itunes foler when adding selected? If not - read the manual to understand what those two settings do

No mp3 files from any source, including iTunes itself, or just some particular batch of mp3s files from some unspecified source? It isn't unusual for some encoders to produce mp3s that are not compliant with iTunes. You can try using the application MP3 Scan+Repair (http://triq.net/mac/mp3-validator-mac-os-x) to fix them but sometimes you have to re-encode them. Try playing with Quicktime Player instead and report if it will play the files.
Oh, it also isn't unusual that files do not have labels built in. They are adding to iTunes but not ending up where you expect them to be.

The file is protected with DRM, encoded oddly or whatever. Try to convert it in an external program.

All of the sudden I can't import any mp3 in my spotify playlists no more.When I try to drag and drop something into my playlist or local data nothing happens,I think it doesn't even recognize the data as mp3 because there is not the little "+" icon while I move the mp3 over spotify.It began a couple of days ago and I can't figure out why and didn't find any information on that online. Did anyone figure out the 'import MP3' problem?I ripped a CD into Windows Media (making sure that it was ripped as MP3) and nothing I do will make it playable in Spotify. The tracks are showing as greyed out in Local Files - and greyed out in playlists too - but when I click to play, I get the message: 'This tracks was added as a local file. If you have the file on your computer you can import it.'I tried adding the source, but it just won't work - and, of course, the import option has now been removed. Until I updated lightroom to 5.6 I had no problem with importing mp3 music files into slideshow but since then it informs me it is not a valid format.
This is very frustrating as have made many slideshow of Weddings,Christenings etc & have been really pleased with the result & so have my customers.

hello,everyone. I'm a new logic user and I met several problems when i first used logic 7.2.3.
One problem is that i cannot import mp3 files, when i do so, the logic tell me 'Permission was denied, probably due to insufficient access rights.' Another problems is that everytime i pressed the record button, there will always be 2 seconds to wait before the logic starting record, though the cursor is moving. Sometimes it is useful but sometimes i don't need time to wait. What can i do to cancel the wait time?

The reason your mp3 cannot be imported is the following:
The mp3 is locked, and does not allow the operation to happen.
Try this:
1. COPY the mp3 file onto your hard drive.
2. in your finder, look up your mp3. press "apple+i" for the file info to be displayed.
3. look at the bottom of the info pane that pops up, and CHANGE the permissions for everyone to "read+write"
4. CLOSE the info pane, and then try to import the mp3 inot Logic. It should now import normally.

Can't Import MP3 or AAC Files

I can't seem to import MP3 files (or aac) into Garageband. I've tried dragging a variety of formats and sample rates (including 44.100). If I drag an MP3 from Itunes to a space in the time line, it says "importing file" but then no waveform or file shows up anwhere! Maybe I'm doing something stupid, but I've looked at every tutorial video and how to video I can find and I can't figure out if I'm just missing something.
Macbook Pro 2008, Garage Band 4.1.2 all updated.

UPDATE
After much experimentation, I realized that files which I imported to my new MacBook Pro from an original source (downloading or ripping from DC) can be imported to Garageband on that computer. I discovered this by organizing my library in Itunes by the "Date Added" field. All other songs that won't import to GarageBand were transferred recently from my old Dell.
I also played around trying to isolate the issue.
1. I took a file that had been imported from my dell to the Itunes on my new MacBook pro. It wouldn't import to GarageBand.
2. I re encoded it as a WAV file using Itunes. Then it would import ok.
3. I re encoded the WAV file back to MP3 using Itunes. It would then import again ok.
So it seems it's how the file is encoded that is the issue. The original MP3 file that wouldn't import to GarageBand was a high quality 320KBS, 44.100 kHZ copy. Only after using the Itunes encoder would it work. But the odd thing is new files I download to the MacBook computer work fine too.
Go figure. If anyone has a suggestion for how I can make GarageBand recognize the thousands of songs I imported from my old computer I'd appreciate it. Ideally it's an easy fix!!
I also tried to reimport an older file from my Dell in case it was file path issue (which doesn't really ever happen with macs, right?). I deleted the old file off my hard drive. Then I had Itunes reimport the file from my desktop. That would work. It took totally converting the file using Itunes to make it work with GarageBand.
Hope this helps some confused soul out in cyberspace.

Can't import MP3s into Premiere Pro

I am running a trial version of Premiere Pro CS3 version 3.0.0. When I try importing an mp3, mp3 is not listed as a supported media and when I actually load it by choosing the All files (*.*) option I get the error "File format not supported". This really surprises me. Is this just because I am running a trial version or does Premiere Pro not allow you to import mp3s? This really surprises me if this is true.

The trial version doesn't support anything MPEG, including mpeg audio.

hi,my problem is that there are some mp3 and wma songs i have on my mac but when i try to put them on my library or basically try to listen to them on itunes nothing happens.i drag and drop them into library or manually import them but itunes just doesn't respond i even tried to manually open the directory music>itunes>itunes music>automatically add to itunes and dragged these mp3s into it but it just keeps ignoring them and throws them into a directory called 'not added'.can anyone help me?

iTunes for Mac (unlike iTunes for Windows) cannot convert WMA files. You will need to use another Mac program, such as EasyWMA, to convert them into an iTunes compatible format.
