Can't import music to automatically match slideshows in iPod

I've got a vidio iPod and have loaded playlists and photo albums. The Photos>Music>From iPhoto option doesn't seem to work for me. I guess I don't know how to assign music to the albums in iPhoto. I can set up & save slideshows in iPhoto, but then slideshows don't show as an import option in the iPod dialog. I can import the original album I made the slideshow from, but that doesn't seem to tie the music to it on iPod. I've even made sure that the playlist that I used is imported from iTunes. I know that I can always select the playlist to go with the album display, but it seems that the "From iPhoto" setting should take care of it automatically. Am I missing an iPod preference setting that would allow me to import slideshows with linked music?
I'm using the latest version of iPhoto ('06 update) and iTunes. This is cross application, so I'll be posting this in iPhoto and iTunes also. Maybe I'm missing a setting in one of those apps.
Posted here because iTunes app doesn't allow me to automatically sync slideshows from the photo section of the iPod preferences pane.

I found the solution. I was setting up new slideshows from my albums in iPhoto using the buttons across the bottom of the window. iPod doesn't recognize the slideshows for transfer. To assign music, you must set up a "temporary" sideshow for your albums. The options can be saved, but they remain albums and are transferable with music (as long as the music/playlist assigned is included in the music transfer preference pane also).
To do this, select your album and use the "Play" button that is on the bottom of the window (you may have to expand the bottom control bar to see the play button). This will bring up options that allow you to select music for the album. Make sure to save settings and then update the photo album in the iPod transfer menu from the iTunes application. Now when you select use music from iPhoto in the iPod Slideshow settings, you will always hear the music you selected for that album.
Cool feature, but not explained well - I got sidetracked in iPhoto by thinking you had to set up "official" slideshows.

Can I import (MUSIC.wma) into iTunes for an iPod Touch? I know somethinig about formating that may just ignore the import, see my grandmother had got an iPod, and she not only want's her CD's on it, she just wan'ts to know if she can play her windows music collection, with the extention .wma  into iTunes . . . if any of you all know if it's possible without having to use any particular third party application please feel free to answer . .

I think so.  iTunes' help says that iTunes can convert WMA files to other formats. The iPod supports:
Audio formats supported: AAC (8 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), HE-AAC, MP3 (8 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, 4, Audible Enhanced Audio, AAX, and AAX+), Apple Lossless, AIFF, and WAV

if the copy files ... when adding option is checkmarked in iTunes > preferences > advanced, files you transfer via homesharing are copied permanently to the other library.

can you import music from itunes on one computer to another?

There are a number of things you could do. One would be to network the to computers and transfer your iTunes folder from one to another. You can also use your iPod as a hard drive and move the folder with it though that would be considerably slower than computer to computer. Here are a few links that may help you out:

Possibly. Media Go supports a variety of music formats, some of which can be imported in to iTunes and then synced on to an iPhone, however some of its formats cannot be imported in to iTunes.
See http://mediago.sony.com/enu/supported-file-formats/ for a list of formats supported by Media Go. iTunes for Windows supports MP3, AAC, WAV, and can import and convert WMA files as well. However iTunes does not support ATRAC, or FLAC.
Furthermore, if some of your music has been bought from an Internet music store it might be procted by DRM. If so it cannot be imported in to iTunes.
To do the importing you would either drag the music files in to iTunes, or tell iTunes to open them. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1347

how can i download music from my computer to my ipod nano without erasing music already there?

If the music you are wanting to have on your iphone was purchased through itunes you can then go to your front display to settings>itunes and app store from there you have a toggled switch that allows you to automatically download music and apps by toggling the switch. You will need to toggle the switch below these switchs that allows for cellular data to be enabled if this has not already been enabled. This then will automatically download music and apps directly to your device with no additional charge to you.
    Good luck.

  • Can you transfer music from a nano to a ipod touch?

Can you transfer music from the nano to the ipod touch? how?

After connecting your Ipod Touch to the computer and its icon appears in iTunes, you can choose Transfer Purchases from iPod (Ipod Nano) from the File menu.
Or you can right-click (Windows or Mac) or Control-click (Mac only) your Ipod Touch in the iTunes Source list, then choose Transfer Purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
Please note that this feature only works for items that were purchased on the iTunes Store. Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your iPod or iPhone to the iTunes library.
    Hope that helps you out.

  • Hi there, I have a problem with my iPod Classic (from 2009). Everytime I connect it to my computer (Windows), iTunes does not work anymore. Music is automatically deleted on my iPod. Any suggestions please?

Thanks, for info, iPod Classic is a slower machine compared the Nano, unfortunately, if you read these discussions, majority of the freezes involved iTunes 10. Although if might be just slow and some impatient user just disconnect the iPod ands cause more problems. ( Yes I also did that but safely by doing a iPod Hard Reset, before disconnecting).
Here is the Apple support article that may help you.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
or my usual solution for Windows Users.
Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
    My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, do not use any USB Hub.
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
    Good Luck!

Can I Share music from iPhone to wife's iPod we both have different Apple ids, and if I do share music will all my photos be shared too?

Depends on what the source of the music is (iTunes purchases, ripped CDs, etc.), and whether you are syncing to iTunes on a computer. As for simply sharing music directly from the iPhone to the iPod, no, you cannot.

  • HT1386 Hi the question I have is. Can I put music from my IPad to my iPod?

Hi the question I have is. Can I put music from my IPad to my iPod?

Not directly no, you will need to sync it via your computer's iTunes. If they are iTunes purchases which are not yet on your computer's iTunes then you should be able to copy them over your computer via File > Transfer Purhcases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you have iTunes on your computer)
