Can't import photos from i phone
I cannot import photos from my iphone into iphoto. It is saying they are unrecognized files
It's a shame Apple can't solve this. I used this work around: (NOTE: make sure to Unmount iPhone so that iPhone does NOT appear in finder window. Then close iPhoto and proceed as follows)
1) Open Applications
2) Open Image Capture
3) Connect iPhone
4) At the bottom, "Import To" drop down create subfolder under Pictures folder
5) Select "Import All" or individually select items; To watch progress see the status bar at the bottom or open subfolder you just created in Finder.
6) After completion, quit Image Capture
7) Disconnect iPhone
8) Open iPhoto
9) Import from subfolder created from Image Capture
Speculation:
a) Some files get bad info if they are on the iPhone too long.
b) Some files are too large for transfer rate when it says "Preparing to Import". My 2.82GB .MOV imported just fine after moving it to my hard drive with Image Capture.

It would be useful to inform us of the following information;
- What version of Photoshop Elements are you using?
- What OS are you running? Windows XP? Vista? Mac?
- How is the phone connected to the computer?
- Does your computer recognize the phone?
- How are you trying to import the photo's?
- Do you recieve any error messages when trying to import?

Can't import photos from iphone to iphoto
I have an iphone 5 and so does my wife. We have an iMac with iphoto version 9.5.1. We have imported photos from our phones to iphoto many times without any problems. After we both updated our phones to iOS 8.1 iphoto will not recognize that our phones are connected to the computer. Finder also does not show that our phones are connected. iTunes still opens automatically and sync's with our phones, but I can't get any photos off our phones.
I have read several posts in the community and nothing has worked so far.
I do not see how to find my phone, or any other device, in the preferences in iphoto. iphoto does not automatically open any more when we connect our phones to the computer, but the preferences shows that iphoto should open any time a camera device is connected to the computer.
Any ideas?Hi ..
You can use the Image Capture app located in your Applications folder to import photos from iOS devices to iPhoto.

Can't import photos from my iPhone into iLife '08 after upgrade to 10.5.1
I can't import photos from my iPhone into iLife '08 anymore after upgrade to 10.5.1.
It used to work great...now this. Sad, sad, sad I am.
I tried the "FIX" of refreshing phone and sync history, but it DID NOT WORK for me. HELP!
Please help, somebody.
Saint PodoreoI have the exact same issue, but with a standard IMAP account and SMTP. My iPhone can send out, using the EXACT same settings, from the exact same WiFi connection...but the 10.8 MacBook cannot send at all. The only account I can send out on is my iCloud account.
I have also tried all the steps above...no luck.
I have also turned off all network filters and firewalls...no luck. (And as I said above, my iPhone is on the exact same WiFi connection and using the exact same settings, and it can send fine.)
Other messages I've found via Google have suggested simply forcing the SMTP server to use Port 25, but that didn't work for me either. -
Hi
Just purchased an Imac (first time mac user) and imported all my photos from my PC. I have been using photo stream on my phone and ipad and like it. The problem is, as far as I can tell, that I have added thousands of photos to the Imac and it now consider those to be new additions. It is sharing those photos to my phone and Ipad and filling both up very quickly. Is there a way that I can only stream photos from the phone to Iphoto on my imac and not from the imac to the phone? I realize that in 30 days, this should correct itself, but for the time being it is a huge hassle. Im sure there is some setting in iphoto that will alleviate my problemIf you have a mac....
launch iPhoto
click the word "iPhoto" beside the apple, and select "preferences / photo stream"
what synces, is listed here
uncheck what you desire, and simply close iPhoto. It will save the changes
Also......
Click the apple / system prefences / iCloud - if you wish to stop "photo stream" completely, you can uncheck it here.

I can't import photos from microSD card.
I can't import photos from MicroSD card. I have an Android phone and it's getting too full. I have to import the photos into iPhoto ASAP. First I tried using the Android Transfer Files app to transfer the photos directly from my phone and it didn't work. So I inserted a microSD card into my phone and transferred photos onto that. Used a card reader through USB and still nothing. iPhoto shows absolutely nothing loading using either method. I have a Mac OS X 10.7.5. My phone can't take anymore photos. I've contacted AT&T, Apple, Pantech, and Android and not a single person could help me. A guy from Pantech actually told me I should have got an iPhone. I told him if I could have afforded it I would have. NEED YOUR HELP PLEEEEEASE!!! Thank you so much for any help you can give.
Copy the photos from the card to a folder on the desktop. Then import them from there to iPhoto. If that works you can delete them from the card.

It was working for a while, then it quit and my computer said thre was a error. I looked at my phone and it was frozen. I can't turn it off and my screen does not dim, its just stuck on the grey. I also can'tfind the serial number either. I have imported photos in the past and it has worked. I just don't know what to do or how to fix it .
Hi ginger1616,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is unresponsive, try resetting it using this method:
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
You can find the full article with these steps here:

I can not import photos from my PC to the iPad, it says iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPad
YES Terence! Thank you. Exporting allowed me to move my photos from iPhoto into the Burn Folder on my desktop. But that doesn't explain why I'm having to go that route now. Have I done something (accidentally changed some setting) on my computer that will not allow me to just click and drag anymore? I really liked the convenience of the click and drag option.
I don't have the time tonight to export and burn a lot of CD/DVDs. I'll try that tomorrow and make sure my photos are moving properly. I also need to export photos to my external hard drive to make sure that route is working.
Wouldn't you know that my Apple Care Plan runs out this Wednesday?! I need to make sure everything is working properly before that expires.
Thank you so much for your help. I really, really appreciate it. -

How can I import photos from my iPad to iTunes on my Windows Vista PC?
I'm puzzled! I had received a set of jpg files through an e-mail on my ipad. For reasons unknown to me, they got saved to my (only) album, that had an irrelevant name. When I tried to change the name of the album, I received a message that I could only change the name of the album after importing them to the computer where (as I recall) iTunes resided. After much huffing and puffing, I managed to import the photos, to the Windows computer, but they wound up in a Windows Photo Gallery directory, where I put them into an appropriately named album. Now, how do I get them back to the iPad. (I also learned, I think, that iTunes will have nothing to do with the photos.

HT201302 how can i import photos from iphone to pc
how can i import photos from iphone to pc?
For photos taken with the iPhone or saved from emails/websites then on a PC you should be able to use the Windows Camera Wizard or just copy them via Windows Explorer (there is more info on this page).
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPhone, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer. -
Can I import photos from an old iPhoto library?
Can I import photos from an old iPhoto library on an external hard drive to my current iPhoto library? The icon on the hard drive appears greyed out when I try via Import.
Open the older library and export the Photos from it to the Finder (File -> Export) and switch to the new Library and import those.
Or, use iPhoto Library Manager to move the photos, plus all the versions and associated metadata to the new Library.
