Can't import photos from my iPhone to iPhoto.

Usually once I connected my iPhone, iPhoto is automatically opened and all the pictures can be imported. However, now the pictures won't show in iPhoto anymore. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Same problem here: upgraded from 4.3.x to iOS 5.1 (iPhone 3GS), now I can't import photos taken on iPhone. Neither with iPhoto nor with Lightroom - they both do see the connected iPhone tough. However they both claim that there are 0 photos found.
That's on OS X 10.6.8, iPhoto '11 (latest v 9.2.3), iTunes 10 (10.6.1) - or in other words: all updates installed. However I remember a quick test with the iPhone 4 from my girlfriend also found no photos on her device (also iOS 5.1) (so it can't be a 3GS issue only).
I do have "sync over WiFi" enabled, but all iCloud services are turned OFF.
I am pretty sure it must be the fault of iOS 5.1. Off course the phones were unlocked at the time of import. Also re-connecting the USB cable did not show any success. Also made sure that no sync was going on during the photo import attempt.

  • I can't import photos from my iPhone to iPhotos.

i cant import my iphone pictures to my iphoto. i've tried everything i've already read here like using another user in the same mac but it still wont work. My guess is that one or more of the files are corrupted and cant be imported to iphoto. It has been a disadvantage for the last 6 months since i have so many pictures to import and i am running out of space on my iphone. backing it up on icloud also doesnt work since there are more than 5GB of pictures and i do not consider buying extra space at the cloud. So please if anyone knows a solution for this please tell me! It would really help, thank you!

    Note the 'Import All' button
Or, as in every single other application on your Mac:
    Click to select
Command-click to add to a selection
For contiguous items: Click the first, then hold the Shift key and click the last, all in between will be selected
    etc

  • Can't import photos from my iPhone into iLife '08 after upgrade to 10.5.1

I can't import photos from my iPhone into iLife '08 anymore after upgrade to 10.5.1.
It used to work great...now this. Sad, sad, sad I am.
I tried the "FIX" of refreshing phone and sync history, but it DID NOT WORK for me. HELP!
    Please help, somebody.

I have the exact same issue, but with a standard IMAP account and SMTP.  My iPhone can send out, using the EXACT same settings, from the exact same WiFi connection...but the 10.8 MacBook cannot send at all.  The only account I can send out on is my iCloud account.
I have also tried all the steps above...no luck.
I have also turned off all network filters and firewalls...no luck.  (And as I said above, my iPhone is on the exact same WiFi connection and using the exact same settings, and it can send fine.)
Other messages I've found via Google have suggested simply forcing the SMTP server to use Port 25, but that didn't work for me either.

  • How can I import photos from my iPhone?

How can I import photos from my iPhone?
I was able to use iPhoto to import from my iPhone on my old MacPro, but iPhoto does not seem to work on my new iMac.

How are you trying? There are two ways: by hooking it up with a USB cord, or by photo streaming.

  • When i imported photos from my iphone to iphoto they show as a box with a dotted outline

I uploaded photos from my iphone to iphoto.  The event boxes say no photos.  But in last import, they are all there as white line outlined boxes.  I can see them when I scroll but not when I stop.  If I click on one I get a triangle with an exclamation point.

That's an indication that iPhoto has broken the link/file path to the original file. make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Import photos from my iphone to iphoto on my mac

I am having a problem importing photos from my iphone 5S to iphoto on my MacBook. It has been preparing to import for hours.

HHi, thank you for the reply. I have checked my iPad and iPhone and neither has iCloud Photo Library (Beta) enabled. Turned off in both. Photostream is turned on.
i tried to sort it out  by dragging all the photos to Events on the Mac and then deleting them from iCloud - (left hand side of iPhoto under the section 'Shared'). the photos now show up in Events. I did force quit but the issue remains. The message reads ' photos are bing imported to the library. Please wait for import to complete.'
i can't empty iPhoto trash either. The message read "Delete error. Please wait for import to complete.'
WHen I was moving the photos to the Events I always had a message about duplicates - to the effect that the photos already existed, did I want to import them? I clicked on Yes, import all duplicates. But when it showed the images - duplicates side by side - one showed the photo and the other was blank.
I really don't know what to do! And I don't know how to handle my iOS devices. Is it to do with the large number of photos? Any help, advice appreciated.

  • I can't import photos from my iPhone

Okay:  I have Lion, I have iOS 5.  I have the latest version of iPhoto.  However, When I open iPhoto and have my phone unlocked, I am no longer automatically presented with images from my camera roll ready for import.  Nothing happens.
How can I get my mac to see my iphone so that I can import images from my iphone?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hi Daniel!
I have an article here that can help explain how to do this through a couple of methods on your new MacBook Pro:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
Specifically, these are the instructions relevant to your situation:
    If you have a Mac
You can import pictures from your iOS device using iPhoto (if installed):
Connect the device to your computer. iPhoto should automatically launch into its import window with your device's images and videos listed.
Note: If iPhoto does not automatically open, you may wish to enable the behavior.
Click Import All. If you want only some of your images imported, select the images and videos you would like to import into iPhoto, then click the Import Selected button.
When the photos finish importing, you will be presented with a dialog asking whether you'd like to delete the original photos from your Camera Roll. Click Delete Photos.
Note: Deleting photos after importing helps to reduce Camera Roll size, and it improves backup and restore times. You may choose Keep Photos if you wish to import the photos to additional computers.
If you do not have iPhoto installed on your computer, you can import pictures from the device using Image Capture:
Connect the iOS device to the computer.
If Image Capture does not open automatically, you can navigate to your Applications folder and open Image Capture from there.
Choose the location to which you'd like to import pictures.
    Click Options.
Click the Options tab if it isn't already selected.
Enable the option "Delete items from camera after downloading".
Note: Deleting photos after importing helps to reduce Camera Roll size, and it improves backup and restore times. You may choose Keep Photos if you wish to import the photos to additional computers.
    Click OK.
    Click Download All.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • Importing photos from old iPhone into iPhoto

I've just upgraded an iPhone and am trying to get the photos off the old one onto the computer. Using iPhoto because that's what I've used before. The iPhone is connected via USB and iTunes recognizes it but iPhoto doesn't show it at all, so there's no chance to import anything. Any ideas why the device is not showing up to iPhoto, even while it does show up to iPhoto? Be advised, I have not backed up to the Cloud at all so Photo Stream is not enabled.
And a secondary question: why in the heck would iTunes be set up, under the Photos tab, to import photos FROM the computer TO the iPhone? That's all I can get it to do at least. Why in the world would I want to move photos in that direction, if the iPhone is the camera and the comptuer hard drive is the storage device?

"And a secondary question: why in the heck would iTunes be set up, under the Photos tab, to import photos FROM the computer TO the iPhone? That's all I can get it to do at least. So you can view pics from your computer on your iphone.  For most, then iphone is not the only camera they ever use.  In fact, it is likely not the main camera you would use.

  • Can't import photos from finepix A345 to iPhoto or Finepix viewer mac ibook

I had previously imported photos from my fuji finepix A345 camera to iPhoto on my macBookPro 10.4.9. Now I am trying to import new images from the same camera and iPhoto displays a message "no photos to import". I have installed Finepix viewer but it also shows no images to import. I have tried creating a new library on a second non admin account and still iPhoto says "no images to import". I was able to successfully import the same images to my thinkpad T41.
Please help me find a way to import photos from finpix A345 to my mac ibook pro. Note there are no movies in the photos I am trying to import. Thanks.

Are you sure there are images on the card you're importing from? (asking that just in case you chose to 'delete after download' with another computer).
Also, have you perhaps formatted the camera drive/card via another computer instead of from the camera itself?
If your MBP can read the card so can your Macbook. You might want to open 'Image Capture', then go to Preferences and make sure you have an application selected to 'launch' when a camera is connected.

  • I can't import photos from my camera to iphoto

When I try to import my photos from my nikkon digital camera memory card to iphoto it starts downloading but after about 100 pictures a message appears saying error downloading image - iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image. I've tried to import a few at a time and it worked with some but with most the same message keeps appearing. What do you think could be the problem? How can I fix it?

Make sure your HDD is not near full, my wife is queen of this. Take your un-frequency used photos and move them to an external HDD, you are probably getting too full on your internal.
Drives are cheap, allows you to keep your priceless photos, avoiding a catastrophic loss. This will be an easy storage trasnfer, which will you free you up to use your internal drive.
My wife has done this before and now she keeps her HDD clean, which allows her to use her MAC as a trasnfer-station.
Try this and maybe it will help you out, but, do it soon, before your HDD crashes, and you loose all your stuff.
Also, spend the smal amount of money to buy a back up drive for your photos/music.
Also make sure you spend the small amount of money to buy a Timemachine backup drive.
If you ave plenty of HDD space, make sure you have the latest RAW camera drivers installed, which can be downloaded from the Apple Support site.
    All the  Best

  • Can not import photos from Canon camera to iphoto '11

When connecting my Canon to iphoto '11 I click on the "Import photos" button and get the following message:
    Unreadable files: 113
The following files could not be imported. The file is an unrecognized format.
This is the first time this has ever happened to me. I've done nothing different that I'm aware of. They are all jpegs.
    Any ideas?

I just had the same issue with an S-90 (I also have never had this problem before.) and had to use a card reader (my iMac has one built in) instead of importing through the camera.  The built-in card reader worked with no problem.

  • I was importing photos from my iphone to iphoto and updating the phone software at the same time, when the update completed the photos were gone from the phone and iphoto said the photos were not imported for unexpected reason.

if anyone can help me with this i would be so greatful, my son is one month old and my wife is heart broken the first month of his life has disappeared from her phone.

I would post in the iPhone forum. While iPhoto was importing basically this is an iPhone question
And in the future you probably never want to update and import at the same time. Basically nothing good can come from that

  • How can I transfer photos from my iPhone to iPhoto without iCloud getting involved?

    Hi All:
I would like to transfer photos to iphoto without iCloud synching.  Last time I synched my iphone to my laptop icloud changed my .mail account setting and moved/added folders within .mail.  It took me a very long time to figure out what happened.  I do not wish to fool around in Terminal either.
    Tankzz
    jjdubz

Yes that is correct, thank you.  I knew how to do that, I was concerned iCloud would would then do some mojo to my lap top.  Apparently after syncing with iCloud once it's happy for a while.
