Can't import pictures from Kodak EasyShare Z915

I used a Kodak EasyShare Z915 camera to shoot two pictures but the EasyShare software doesn't work. Neither the original software on CD, nor the Version 6.2 that I downloaded from the Kodak website.
Their theory is that the action of plugging the USB 2.0 cable into the Mac, is enough to identify the presence of the camera, and proceed from there, an automatic handshaking that is sufficient to begin the image import process.
Unfortunately for me, plugging the USB 2.0 cable into the Mac, does not seem to be enough to get the handshakes going.
Even worse, it interfered with my keyboard and mouse to the point that I could not click my reset button. I had to unplug the darn power cable instead, and go through a cold power up.
No help from the programmers at Kodak. I guess they already have their hands full with Windows bugs.

Sorry, just trying to help.
I've got an older Easyshare camera and while I've used the bundled Kodak software in Windows OK, I never tried it on my Mac as iPhoto (or rather Image Capture) recognized it and would transfer the photos.
Have you tried an inexpensive USB media card reader that you can just plug the card into and transfer the pictures that way?
I was using the internal memory of the Kodak EasyShare Z915. If only I'd had an extra SD card to put in it, when I shot the pictures! It is not like I don't have any. I have lots of SD cards. In the case of the Kodak EasyShare Z915, there is a small amount of internal memory that is "built-in." There are two pictures on it at this very moment. Probably the maximum.
Now, I am not sure if there is an easy way to treat the entire camera as a removable SD, fortuitously plugged into a multi-card reader. The only multi-card reader I have, lacks a double USB port (which no doubt would be a handy thing to have). The camera doesn't look like any part of it slides into the multi-card reader. Can you suggest a multi-card reader (or even a single card reader) that has a port that opens up wide enough to plug a Kodak EasyShare Z915 into it somehow, in the way you are visualizing? The Kodak EasyShare Z915 has a female USB 2.0 port. Were you visualizing the possibility it had a male USB 2.0 plug that swings out?
You would think camera manufacturers would have entertained the possibility somewhere along the line that direct camera-to-camera daisy-chaining, is what a lot of consumers would immediately go for, obviating the need for a host computer to store the pictures on. Of course, that sort of thing might be possible, just by swapping out SD cards. But I made the mistake of shooting the pictures directly to the camera's internal memory, where it now appears to be trapped.
Do you want/need the Kodak software for a purpose other than the transfer of images (not being insulting here, just asking).
I would ditch their bundled software in a heartbeat if I could. It doesn't work. It freezes my keyboard, and jams my mouse. I just want those two pictures out. I am on the verge of buying a PC just for this one purpose.
One more troubleshooting tip. Are you using the USB cable bundled with the camera?
Yes. It is a black USB cable, fits just fine, and happens to have a little torus magnet attached to one end, apparently to stabilize any high-speed data transfers it is attempting.
I've found that cameras often include a proprietary USB cable. I've been perplexed by this several times when I used a standard cable to connect my camera, have it recognized but unable to transfer the photos.

Had this camera for over a year and I have never had a problem until today. I can't upload any photos into iPhoto. Message says it's not a supported format. The photos are .jpg and I can see them in the screen where you select photos for import.
    Running iPhoto v 8.1.2.
Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Photos that were synced from a computer won't show for copying to a computer. If you want to copy them back then you will need a third-party app on your phone such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer (e.g. their dimensions might be different and their colours may look a bit different).

  • Can't import pictures from iphone 5

I can't import pictures from my iphone 5 even though they are stored on my computer. I get the message "nothing has been imported. The file(s) selected to import did not contain any supported file types, or the files are already in this catalog."  I've been able to do it until this time.  Any ideas?

    1. make sure phone is not locked (passcode locked) when you connect.
    2. odds are you (or somebody) changed a setting in windows to not pull up that window anymore by default.
    3. after plugging in, go to My Computer and you should see it listed as a camera/scanner. Just go double click it and get into the pictures and copy off manually. Right click it and I think there you can tell Windows how to act when plugged in.

The battery alone is a $5 to $15 part.  Hard drives vary in cost, and depending on the iMac, they may or may not be able to install a third party hard drive, or one resold through Apple.    The resold through Apple drives tend to cost more.  This article discusses the varying successes of third party drives on iMacs:

  • How can I import pictures from my computer to iTunes without losing my iPhone pictures?

    Hey
I'm wondering how I can import pictures from iTunes to my iPhone. I have taken pictures with a camera, not my iPhone camera. And I got the pictures on my computer, just don't know how to import them to my itunes and then to my iPhone. And I also don't want to lose all my iPhone pictures in my camera roll when I do this.
    Thanks

Camera Roll is the folder on your iPhone which kept all the photos taken from your iPhone Camera or Photos received and saved from your email attachments.  They will remain in that folder until you delete them.  You may, however, import these photos to your Computer if you want to.
    Refer to this article:
iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
Now the other way round, if you want your Photos from your Computer(whether it's taken from other Digital camera or photos already on your computer) to be transferred to iPhone, you have to sync them over like I mentioned in the first reply.

  • How can I import pictures from aperture into iPhoto

Since moving to mountain lion OSX, I can't find a way for importing pictures from aperture into iphoto. There used to ba a tab under archive in iPhoto where you could view the aperture library and select pictures to import them into iPhoto. This tab has diappeared. Could anyone tell me how it's done now?

I noticed indeed that you can change the library under "archive" in iPhoto but when I choose aperture library I can't find the same structure of albums as in aperture.
Sorry I don't understand this. What is "archive"?

  • I can not import pictures from iPad into Aperture

I have an iPad 1, latest iOS. I shoot Nikon RAW files that I import unsingh the camera connector kit (CCK). I use Aperture, again latest version. All of that in OS X latest and greatest on an iMac (March 2009).
I simply can not import pics from the iPad onto Aperture.
AP3 does see the iPad when I go in import mode (CMD I) and does see all my pics (just came back from vacation with 3000+).
Importing All starts the process, the import wheel spins, but the nothing happens . If I double click on the "Importing..." message to see the scheduled tasks, I do see that a number of importing tasks are scheduled.
However, no progress is ever made.
    Any ideas?

Are you connected to the wi-fi and/or 3G

  • I installed Snow Leopard and now I can't import pictures from iphone or memory chip.

I installed Snow Leopard to my Mac Book Pro and when I went to import pictures from my Iphone 4 to the Mac I received a message that it could not read the files.  I also tried importing pictures from my camera's memory card and got the same error.  This hadn't happened before the installation of Snow Leopard, what could it be?

update SnowLeopard to its latest version, v 10.6.8, and alongside that also your iTunes to v10.5
Use disk utility to repair the OS permissions after all updates are in place.

  • Iphoto won't import photos from Kodak EasyShare Camera

I have alsways been able to import photos from my canon camera directly into iphoto. I just purchased a Kodak Easyshare Camera. When I hook it up to my computer, it won't import the photos. The camera does come with it's own EasyShare Software - but I really don't want to import it into my computer. I want the photos to import directly into iphoto library. My Canon Camera still imports into the library. Help.

    sunnydays:
Does System Profiler recognize the camera when it's connected? What version of iPhoto and Quicktime are you at. If not the latest then I suggest you update to 6.0.0 and 7.2 respectively. I'd also update to 10.4.10 via the COMBO updater followed by a repair of disk permissions.
Do you have iPhoto erase the memory card after each upload? If so, I strongly recommend against it as I've seen too many reports of incomplete uploads and complete erasures. It's safer to have the camera reformat the card after the upload.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Importing photos from Kodak EasyShare camera

I am attempting to import photos from my Kodak EasyShare CX7300 camera into iPhoto. I have uploaded photos from this camera onto the computer before, but for some reason, I am no longer able to do so. I have checked the cord connections of both the USB port and the camera, and both are fine. When I plug the camera into the computer and turn the camera on, the green light on the camera flashes and iPhoto opens, but the import process does not begin. I have been unable to find a way through which I can manually import the photos into iPhoto. I cannot install the EasyShare software that came with the camera because of restrictions placed on the computer by my school. Any suggestions, other than a new camera or a better computer? :-D Like I said, I've imported photos from the same camera to the same computer... why isn't it working now?????

    Jamie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A workaround until the reason for the problem is found is to use Image Capture to manually upload from your camera. It came with the Mac and is located in your Applications folder.
Have there been any software updates run just before this started occurring? What version of iPhoto are you running?
As a first step run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions.

  • Hello, how can I import pictures from my Macbook Pro to my iMac?

I have stored my holiday pictures on my Macbook Pro and I want to transfer/copy them to my iMac. I have a local network (via Apple hardware) and I have marked the photo library on the Macbook Pro as "Shared". So I should be able to transfer pictures from this lobrary to my iMaclibrary. Sharing pictures amongst different Apple computers seems to be difficult. Even burning pictures on a CD-rom is not that easy it should be. But that's another question. You should find the possibility to burn pictures on a cd direct from iPhoto but the function is simly not there. Yes you can share them by e-mail, Facebook,...but sometimes you just want to have some transfers between your own computers...

You can use the paid version of  iPhoto Library Manager  to copy selected Events from your MBP library into the library on your iMac while keeping all metadata, locations, faces, etc.
If you want to import ALL photos in your MBP library into your iMac library that are not already in the iMac library (without keywords, metadata, etc.) you can use   SyncPhotos.
    Here's how it works:
    1 - it compares the databases and/or album.xml files of Libraries A and B.
2 - the files in A that are not in B are imported into B by copying the original files from A into B's Import folder.
3 - it then does the same for B.
4 - metadata is not copied.
It can be used to just copy from A to B and not sync both ways if desired. It will work with 2 libraries that are different versions, i.e. between an iPhoto 08 and iPhoto 09 library.
