Can't import/play MP3s, but can in Quicktime?

MP3s that had been playing in iTunes stopped. It's a few complete albums.
Ideas?
Thanks

First don't export to AVI there are enough horrible AVI's out there from Windows users to last until the 22nd century.
You don't need to export it at all just open the reference file in QT and export how you like. You have said nothinga about how it doesn't work, error messages or anything at all to help so try doing that.
DV is 13GB an hour so the size is simply a normal DV size for the duration you have there, and not a problem, and you may be happier opening it in MPEG Streamclip (free), and export to MPEG-4 with one of the iTunes presets.

Can you locate the iTunes Library.itl file on the old drive? Ideally you would have simply copied over the entire iTunes folder structure from <User's Music> on the old computer into <User's Music> on the new one to transfer the library will all playlists, ratings, play counts etc. intact.

If you have multiple drives on the same IDE or SCSI bus, these drives may interfere with each other.
Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.

  • Zen Nano Plus won't play MP3, can't convert to WMA, tried new firmw

    Help!
I have just reloaded the firmware (and all my music) onto my Zen Nano Plus and it didn't fix my problem.
I have mostly .wma files and they play fine. I have tried to load .mp3 files but my player just skips them. I tried using the Organizer software to convert the .mp3 files to .wma files and it says they are converted but I get about min of each song and that's it.
    So I don't know why I can't play .mp3 files and I also don't know why the .mp3's can't be fully converted to .wma's.
    Can anyone help?Thanks in advance,Marci

Wave files will only play by tricking the player into thinking that they are wav files created by the voice recorder. Put wav file into a folder called Recorded Tracks and see if it plays. This will at least see if it will play something. How did you transfer your files?Try ripping a CD to wma files using MediaSource or Windows Media Player - sometimes the firmware gets in a twist and will play mp3s but not wmas, or vice versa. The solution to that is to reload the firmware - go to the Support->Downloads link at the top of the page to get the latest firmware for your player. Protected songs (wma files with DRM) need to be transferred using WMP or MediaSource to transfer the license across, but mp3 files can be drag'n'dropped in Windows Explorer. A protected song without a license will give the symptoms you detail. As it's duff from the start you might just want to take it back - but it's worth trying the firmware reload first to save you some bother. PB

  • Prefer mp3, but upgrade switches to aac. intentional or incompetence?

I prefer importing to mp3, but every time I'm required to update my itunes, this preference switches to aac. Am I missing something? I find it hard to believe that programmers would be so sloppy as to not retain preferences from previous builds...
On a related note, I also disable loading of quicktime to my tray at startup. I have to disable this everytime I have to update itunes... Can I stop this from happening?
    pc Windows XP Pro
pc   Windows XP Pro   prefer fedora core...

Known issues that many of us disagree with. Not sloppy coding but intentional since it has been this way for several versions.
I have a program installed that prevents the Quicktime startup change, actually prevents any changes without my permission.

Try running these songs through MP3 Validator to see if there any issues.
If nothing else, convert them to another format such as AAC via iTunes using the instructions in this Apple support document.

    Does someone knows a solution?

There is no such thing as a "parser plug-in".
That's not entirely accurate. In CS4 we use "EPS Parser.8BY" to assist in parsing of illustrator files. This plugin is normally located at:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\Plug-ins\Format\EPS Parser.8BY"
Is this missing for some reason?

  • Can import cd's but they wont play properly

Ive bought myself an ipod nano for christmas and its all wrapped up under the tree but i decided to get a head start with importing songs from my cd's.
When i import songs from a cd and go to play them on my computer, or even if the songs start playing while im importing, it only plays the first second of the song over and over again. At the top, where it shows the progress of the song, itunes is counting down the minutes of the song normally and yet i still only hear the first second of the song over and over again. Ive looked in the help section and tried everything. The songs are imported using the AAC encoder.
When i first downloaded itunes and did my first import, the songs played fine, then my computer reset itself which it does frequently, and its only ever since then that they wont play properly and i dont know why because i didnt change any of the settings. Ive since fiddled around with the different options and nothing has worked.

    No.
The songs played fine until the computer reset itself. Ever since then, that's when they will only play the first second of the song over and over again.
I deleted the songs and tried to import them again but that didnt help. I've tried to import songs from other cd's and the same thing happens.
Even if I just try to play a cd using itunes, same thing happens, first second of each song over and over again.
My cd's play fine on windows media player. Its really starting to frustrate me!

  • Can't import some MP3s into Centrale

$Can't import some MP3s into Centrale?I've been using Centrale with my X-Fi for a couple of years and have managed to tag and import 000s of mp3s wothout problem. I recently downloaded 2 series of podcasts from Absoluteradio and despite all attempts, can't import them.
I've double checked the tags - no problem. I can drag the podcasts into Centrale and transfer them directly onto the X-Fi and they play fine.
Whenever I try importing them to the library, all that happens is that the message 'transferring to library' flashes up at the bottom of the Centrale window and the counter at the bottom right very quickly counts up from of 30, 2 of 30 etc.. But the?author, album or tracks never actually get imported.
Any idea what could be different about these podcasts? I've checked properties to make sure they're not protected.
If anyone would like to help me diagnose this, the podcasts are at www.absoluteradio.co.uk - examples are the Baddiel & Skinner and Dave Gorman series.
    Thanks
    David

Try to play a few of them in another player to verify that they are good MP3s. If so, treat them with a tag cleanup program such as MP3 Validator, and then iTunes will usually accept them.

  • Can't import my mp3 file on my computer at work

can't import my mp3 file on my computer at work but the same format will successfully import on my computer at home.  Only difference is that work runs win 7 32 bit and home win7 64 bit.
    can anyone help on this
    regards,
    Aron

iTunes seems to be quite fussy and may refuse to play/add MP3 files other palyers accept.
If you have the CDs you could try resaving them. Also some tag editors claim to have repair abilites. For example this one:
    http://www.magnusbrading.com/mp3ts/
Or there is a repair tool here:
    http://www.drtag.de/en/description_mp3rt.htm
I haven't tried these myself and it is always a good idea to work on copies of files if you are experimenting.

  • How can i import an mp3 to a Notification Ringtone under the "Sound Settings"?

how can i import an mp3 to a Notification Ringtone under the "Sound Settings"? (i can do it to "Phone Ringtones" easy, but not Notifactions)

This might work as well and will allow drag and drop of mp3 files. This is written as if the phone is connected to the computer.
In the sd card, check if there is a folder called media. In the media folder verify or create a folder called audio. Within the audio folder create the following folders: alarms, notifications, and ringtones. These should be typed exactly as written. Copy or move the files into the folder you want them in. Disconnect the phone from the computer and let the remount the sd card. Now go into your notification or ringtones list. The files you put into the individual folders should automatically be there.
I know that this works on the Eris and I got the method back when only the eris and droid 1 was available. I just can't remember exactly where I got it. Hopefully it also works for the Droid 1.
    @Ron
    Be nice please.

  • Tried to connect my ipod to TV through USB. Can play music but the TV cant detect video files

Hi. I have an ipod nano 4th generation. I am obsessed with Doctor Who but unfortunately I do not have BBc America. I watch from itunes on my PC. I would like to sync the shows on the ipod and watch on TV. I am aware i can purchase apple's A/V cable, but i have found that my TV also has a USB port. I plugged in my ipod and four menus came up, "video" "pictures" "music" and "settings". I can play music but the Tv wont find the video files on the ipod.
    Thanks!!!!

iTunes Match on your computer can give you the same higher quality files.
Run iTunes on your computer.  Show your music library by Song in list view.  Add the columns for Bit Rate, Kind, and iCloud Status to the list view.
Any song that is shown as Matched for iCloud Status, that is NOT already 256 kbps (or higher) for Bit Rate can be downloaded from iCloud at 256 kbps AAC.  For example, if you have an old album from a music CD that you ripped years ago at 128 kbps MP3, and it is "matched" by iTunes Match, you can replace the lower quality files you have now with 256 kbps Match AAC audio file (which is shown for Kind).
To do so, select the song, or a set of songs, on the library list.  Press Delete.  Confirm you want to delete the song (but do NOT check the box to delete song from iCloud) and choose to move song file to the Trash.  The songs remain on your iTunes library list, with a "cloud" download button next to the song name.
Click that button to download the song from iCloud.  Because the song is Matched, you get the replacement as a 256 kbps AAC audio file, instead of the original 128 kbps MP3 file (or whatever lower quality format it was before).
You can go through your iTunes music library, and replace lower quality Matched songs with higher quality versions, thanks to iTunes Match.

[zuargo@zuargo-archlinux ~]$ xine is asking to seek behind the end of the data stream
I have installed xine-phonon and it is uses default.

I have tried installing pulseaudio but... nothing...
I have tried installing oss but.... nothing
I have tried erasing the file ~.xine/catalog.cache but... nothing...
some web pages says solved it issue installing a package called libxine-ffmep but it is not in pacman...
really I tried many options but I can't solved this problem
of course, I can play mp3 files in the command line (throughout mpg123) and they sound good...

phonon-xine depends on xine-lib which depends on ffmpeg, but its probably worth checking to make sure they are installed.
    I have installed xine-lib

  • Can't play mp3 file through RTP

I created an server/client application to play remote file through RTP using JMF. However, it works with *.wav and video track of mpg file only, can't work when playing *.mp3 and audio track of mpg file. Do anyone know the reason?

    No any errors.
I just follow the code sample "AVTransmit2" & "AVReceive2" and change the format.
I change the format of mpg file audio stream to G723, it works now! So I think I used wrong format, but I found there is only two supported RTP format for mp3 file and it doesn't work for both of them.
