Can't Import Purchased Music (please help an idiot)

Please let me start off by stating that I must I must be an idiot! What is supposed to be simple is driving me insane!!!! Here it is....
I have music on my work PC that I purchased from iTunes. I originally only used this PC for my iPod. I now have a PC at home and would like to transfer all the music purchased from iTunes on my work PC to the new, home PC and use the nome pc exclusively for my iPod.
I have transferred songs from my work PC onto a thumb drive but they will not import into the new PC. If I insert the thumb drive into the new pc, I can click and drag the songs to my new library and they will play when I click on them. However, if I remove the thumb drive and click on a "transferred song" it says file not found and places an exclaimation point in front of it. If i search for the songs and try to "Import" them from the thumbdrive, iTunes won't let me. At no point does iTunes ever ask me to "authorize" the new PC (to play the songs transferred from my work PC). I can find no method for authorizing the new PC to play the work songs.
I should mention that I did purchase several songs on the new from iTunes under a different account that I opened on the home PC and they play fine. The account that I have used on the work PC has three computers authorized (I should have 2 left). The account on the home PC has only one authorized computer.
What am I doing wrong????? I do have a graduate degree in engineering but I am over 40....Please take this this obvious mental deficiency into account when responding.

Welcome, David, to the Apple Discussions!
On your home computer, go to the iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced tab > General sub-tab and make sure that
i Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library is checked.
(That's the path in iTunes 5 and 6. If memory serves in 4 it was either the General tab or the Advanced tab under Preferences.)
Then you don't actually "import" the songs from your thumb drive. Rather go to the iTunes File menu > Add Folder to Library command and select your thumb drive.
Hopefully this will make things better. If not post back.

Conversion For Purchased Music - PLEASE HELP!

I've been toying around with this for a long time now and I can't seem to get my purchased music to play outside of the iPod. While I realize that the content is "protected" and that you can listen to the songs, say in the car, by purchasing iTunes adapter type devices, it's still really frustrating. Certainly in the internet world, somewhere out there, maybe there's a shareware/freeware program that can read and convert the .m4p format for us Windows users? (if you know of any, you can e-mail [email protected] if you don't feel comfortable revealing these on the boards)
I feel a bit ripped off since I bought the songs (whole CDs in some cases), yet I still don't have the flexibility to listen to my songs where I want to without purchasing the physical CD. If anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated.

To play the iTunes files on another player burn them to an audio CD first then import that CD back into iTunes as MP3s. You'll lose a certain amount of quality going from one compressed form to another but you'll have a files that you can use elsewhere. This will also allow you to get them into MP3 format so that you can burn an MP3 disc if you have a compatible in-car CD player.

Can't import purchased music from iPad to MacBook Pro's iTunes

I bought and downloaded classical music albums to my MacBook Pro's iTunes. They have also apparently been automatically synced onto my iPad's iTunes. Then I purchased and downloaded successfully four classical albums to iPad's iTunes. But when I manually synced the iPad's iTunes with the Mac's iTunes, only one of the four paid albums was fully transferred so it can be played from the MacBook Pro's iTunes. The other three albums only show notices in Mac Book Pro's iTunes that they are "purchased", but there are no digital files that can produce sound. How can I get the digital music files of these purchased albums to be downloaded onto the MacBook Pro's iTunes so they can be played there?

Yes you can. Connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes, select your device on the left side, right click on the name of your iPad and you can select transfer purchases.
You must authorize your computer as well in iTunes from the menu at the top under Store.

Can't Find My Music--Please Help!

Okay, I recently used Music Brainz Tagger to correctly tag my music in my music folder, and now iTunes can't find ANY songs. Do I have to go through each song and individually relocate it? Please tell me no.

Okay, I got things fixed up. Thanks for the help, but I have encountered an error while uploading my music to my iPod (video). After uploading, I received this error:
"Attempting to copy to the disk "TYLERS IPO"* failed. The disk could not be read from or written to."
However, I went through my iPod, and everything seems fine, it LOOKS like everything was uploaded correctly...what's up with that error?
*My name is Tyler, hence TYLERS IPO.
Edit: Upon further inspection, I have come to realize that NOT everything was uploaded, a few artists are missing!

Apple recommends backing up the data when you're getting the battery replaced by them. So I assume that you will likely lose the data during this process.

The iPad 1 can't run the newer operating systems. It'd be like trying to play a bluray disc in your 6 year old dvd player....it simply lacks the hardware to make the software run.
No suggestion about the camera, but given that Apple's attitude seems to be to focus more on the more mobile devices for photography (the iPhone and Touch cameras got features, the iPad and mini didn't), that is highly unlikely. You can tell Apple what you want, but you'd probably be money ahead to get a digital camera.
as to the photos, anything put on via iTunes has to come off via iTunes.Your main alternative would be to look for photo apps that offer file exchange that may give you more functionality.

Hi, i had the same problem. Try to find the file "apple" or "itunes" don't know it anymore exactly. Ahm well you need to delet any information or just plug in your iphone into an other computer. important is that your iphone never has been pluged in this computer before. This was what i did, and it worked!
