Can't Import TIFF from Nikon Capture NX

I just adjusted a number of D200 .NEF images with Nikon's Capture NX, and saved them as TIFF. I then opened Aperture to import my work, and strangely, Aperture did not recognize the TIFF files or display them for import selection.
I then opened a couple of these NX-edited TIFF files in Preview, did a save as TIFF in Preview, and Aperture then "saw" the file as TIFF and would import it.
I then tried the same original D200 .NEF images opening and saving as TIFF in Nikon's Capture 4, the NX predecessor. Aperture had no problem with these...
I am impressed with NX's image manipulation technology, and the quality of Nikon RAW conversion I see out of the box as demonstrably better than Aperture or Photoshop Camera RAW. I think NX is still too slow for big time workflow, but the new tools work great for hero images.
Anyway, anyone else seen this odd TIFF behavior?
Thanks
PowerBook G4 1.67 2GB RAM 128MB ATI Video, External FW Drives for library   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

No problems here.
I used Capture NX to open an NEF file from my D70. I did not adjust the file in anyway and saved that file as a 16 bit TIFF and again as an 8 bit TIFF. I then made some adjustments and again saved the adjusted file as a 16 bit TIFF.
All three files imported and opened into Aperture with no problem.

  • Can't Import Photos From Nikon D3 on iPad

Is anyone else having trouble importing photos from a Nikon D3 to an iPad 3G? I have no trouble importing from a Nikon D70 but when I connect my D3, it just says "No Photos To Import" but there are 30 in there?

On the D3 do you have RAW (NEF) and Jpeg or only (RAW) NEF selected?
The follow was snipped from an article at MacWorld, you may wish to read the article.
What does it do with Raw files?
With the camera connector kit, the iPad can upload and store raw image files such as .nef (Nikon) and .cr2 (Canon). While there isn't any way to edit or work with those raw files on the iPad at this time, the iPad does create an optimized JPEG version of each image. You can use that image the same way as you would any other kind of photo on the iPad; include it in slideshows, e-mail it, or edit it in third-party apps. Your original file remains un-altered and will transfer to your computer exactly as it was on the camera or SD card. These features should allow photographers to use the iPad as a storage, preview, and transfer device for their raw files.
The optimized JPEG that they refer to is 2048-by-1360 resolution and if you use the mail function within the IPad Iphoto app, this is the resolution that is sent.

  • Can I import photos from Nikon D800?

Lightroom 5.5 doesn't recognized my Nikon D800 is it normal?

Is this the first time you’ve tried LR with the photos, or did they work in LR 5.4, but not LR 5.5?
The D800 should be recognized just fine by LR; however, if the photos are not, then what probably happened is you’ve used an older Nikon program to transfer or view the files, which changes something in each one and makes the unrecognizable to Adobe products.
You can update your Nikon programs to ones that are as new as your camera, or stop using them altogether.
To correct the issue with the current image use the following utility:

  • I downloaded the newest version of camera raw for LR. I have LR4 and can not import photos from my new Nikon D750. The download  said it was sucessful but I still can not import photos.

I downloaded the newest version of camera raw for LR. I have LR4 and can not import photos from my new Nikon D750. The download  said it was sucessful but I still can not import photos.

Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. So downloading the latest Camera Raw didn't do anything at all for you. The only way to update or upgrade Lightroom is to obtain the latest version. If you have Lightroom 4 then the last version of Lightroom you can have at no additional cost is Lightroom 4.4.1. If the camera you are using requires anything newer than what is supported and that version of Lightroom then it will require an upgrade to Lightroom 5.

  • Can't import automatically from my cameras

I'm an experienced iPhoto user but I can't seem to get my photos to automatically import. I connect one of my cameras and iPhoto launches or goes straight to its import window if it's already running but then it crashes. This happens repeatedly with either of my cameras so I can only import manually from Finder, desktop or from Image Capture for example.
    Anyone else experiencing this?
I have used the report bug form that pops up with the crash and my Mac is well maintained and in otherwise full working order.

Having installed installed the latest iPhoto update I still have to make sure I don't have a camera connected when iPhoto is running. I have to keep using Image Capture to import my photos before transferring to iPhoto.
I had read that some items in the Pictures folder can cause a problem so I tried removing everything but the iPhoto library from there but that made no difference. Also I removed any plugins I could find.
iPhoto 08 is running fine apart from the import crashing problem.
    Anyone else got any ideas?

  • I can not import pictures from iPad into Aperture

I have an iPad 1, latest iOS. I shoot Nikon RAW files that I import unsingh the camera connector kit (CCK). I use Aperture, again latest version. All of that in OS X latest and greatest on an iMac (March 2009).
I simply can not import pics from the iPad onto Aperture.
AP3 does see the iPad when I go in import mode (CMD I) and does see all my pics (just came back from vacation with 3000+).
Importing All starts the process, the import wheel spins, but the nothing happens . If I double click on the "Importing..." message to see the scheduled tasks, I do see that a number of importing tasks are scheduled.
However, no progress is ever made.
    Any ideas?

Are you connected to the wi-fi and/or 3G

  • I imported photos from nikon d600 to lightroom 5. but i don't see it on bridge cs6. help?

i imported photos from nikon d600 to lightrroom 5. but don't see it on cs6 bridge. how do i know where it was downloaded to?
i see the folder in lghtroom under the hard drive, but can't see it on bridge?

    Hi
    Then it's not my advice.
There are two very important things about this.
    • NEVER - move or alter any folder named iMovie Events or iMovie Projects on DeskTop/Finder - at all !
All changes must take place inside the iMovie Application - else connections break ! and iMovie can't find them.
Move Events and Projects back and hope that they will be found.
    • The external hard disk - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange works for most BUT NOT FOR VIDEO - not for iMovie nor FinalCut.

  • I can not import videos from my camera or open them... quits finder

So i have a canon powershot SD300 and I can't import videos from it using I photo (the program quits)... so I used the camera software and when I go to click on it to show review, or try and open the video files (avi-quicktime) my finder quits! What's up with that? I have added an Xvid update so I could run Xvid files... I don't know if that would do anthing. Can anyone help?

    JordanFox,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Your friend is correct; iPhoto 2 does not handle video files. You'll need at least iPhoto 5 to keep videos in your library. There is no other way to get it than to purchase a copy of iLife, either version 5 or version 6. Upgrades from one version to another cost money, updates within a version (ex; 6.0 to 6.0.6) are free downloads from Apple.
Try using Image Capture (in your Applications folder) to upload the video clips to your Mac. You can manage them yourself in your Movies folder.
    Regards.

  • Since the new downlaod, I can't import photos from my Kodak C813. I get an "unreadable file" message. What to do?

Since the new Photo download, I can't import photos from my Kodak C813. I get an "unreadable file" message. What to do?

See if Image Capture will let you upload the photos from the camera to a folder on the Desktop.  If it will then check the photos by opening them up with Preview to make sure all of them are good.  Then import the folder into Photos.
If that goes OK reformat the memory card in the camera, take some test shots and see if Photo will import.

  • How do I import pictures from nikon d810

how do I import pictures from nikon d810?

This camera is very new, so you have to until the next version of LR is released—one that has support programmed into it.
The other thing you can do is use the DNG Converter 8.6 release-candidate available at Adobe Labs and convert you NEFs to DNGs and those DNGs will be recognized by the older LR version.
Look at the CS6 download for ACR 8.6 RC at Adobe Labs:  http://labs.adobe.com/
Keep in mind that this is a pre-release program and things may change before the final release so your photos may look different at that time.
Also, this version of DNGC 8.6 RC doesn’t recognize the new 9MP Small Raw mode from the D810 so you’ll have to shoot full-res 36MP images to work with them in LR.  Adobe has said this will be corrected in the final versions of the products, probably in a few weeks.

  • How can i import contacts from another AIM account to this new one

If you reference my last ichat question, you will see that I have had serious problems and had to create a new account.
How can I import contacts from another AIM account to this new one??

    Hi,
Use AIM for Mac and use the Export and Import features.
Other than that it is a question on making sure every Single Buddy has more than just their Screen name in the IChat Address Card so it is added to the Address Book and dragging them back from there

  • Can I import video from a Firewire camcorder using the Thunderbolt to Firewire Adapter?

I have an older camcorder that has a firewire interface. My new iMac does not have any firewire ports. Can I import video from the camcorder using a Thunderbolt to Firewire Adapter or is the Thunderbold adapter only used for hard drives and displays?

Rather than an adapter, I would suggest you purchase a 4 pin to 9 pin Firewire 800 cable to run from the camera to the Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter. Those FW 400 to 800 adapters frequently do not work so well for importing video in my experience.
The Firewire cables are pretty inexpensive if you get them online. For example try Monoprice.

if the copy files ... when adding option is checkmarked in iTunes > preferences > advanced, files you transfer via homesharing are copied permanently to the other library.
