Can't import to Library - Error

I get this errror message when trying to import from CD to my library:
"Error occured while converting the file..The disk you are attempting to use is full."
I have a brand new HP laptop with 100G free so space isn't a problem. Can someone help.
Thanks - Lance.

Hi Dogan - thanks.
How do I check what the library is set too?
And why have I lost my Lance's iPod tagname, it's now called Evo...? Totally lost here.

  • Can't Import Catalog - Unknown Error

Is this still a known bug without a solution?
I have LR3 on a MacBook Pro Snow Leopard and on a PC Desktiop Win XP Pro SP3.  I exported a catalog from the laptop to an external hard drive and then attempted to import it to the desktop and kept getting the dreaded Can't Import Catalog - Unknown Error message.
I don't have an issue with LR Beta because i didn't use it; I just upgraded v2.6 installations on both machines to LR3.
I like LR3 but I've got to be able to get the image files and the LR work I've done on them from my laptop to my desktop and an Unknown Error is not what I need. Am I going to have to wait for the first dot release to be able to do this?
    --Bob

Well, I just got off the phone with Adobe Technical Support and I am extremely frustrated
Support: Since you are working cross-platform (from a Mac laptop via an external hard drive and then to a Win XP desktop) we can only say that sometimes it will work and sometimes it will not.
Me: Huh?  It worked perfectly in LR 2.6.
Support:  I am sorry.  That is all I can tell you.
Me: That really ruins my month.  I've got thousands of edited images on my laptop from a 3 week trip to SE Asia and now I can't move the catalog to my desktop?  Give me a break!!
Support:  You can copy the image files to your desktop.
    Me: Without the accompanying adjustments?
    Support:  Yes.  Sorry.
    Me:  Me too.
Anyone have a better idea?  I've filed a bug report.....

  • Can't import iPhoto Library - Aperture 1.5.2 & iPhoto 6.0.5

I have tried searching the Aperture discussions for a solution, and have only found one useful topic from July 2006:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303438
However, it states this was a partial solution with Aperture 1.0 & iPhoto 6.0.1 or 6.0.2, and would be resolved in Aperture 1.1. We're up to Aperture 1.5.2 now, and I'm unwilling to uninstall iPhoto and revert back to 6.0 to try this solution. I have a SLOOOOW workaround (batch export original file at original size & format from iPhoto to temp hard drive folder, then import from file to Aperture), and have even tried working on an Automator script (not yet successful). Does anyone else have this problem?
FYI, the symptoms are: in Aperture File > Import > iPhoto Library... Selected iPhoto Library folder, Store Files in their current location, and click "Choose". The popup window closes, but nothing happens. No spinning beach ball, no error message, nothing.
Thanks for any help or insights.

    Hey Suydam.
I am having the EXACT same issues and it is driving me insane.
I have been searching and searching for an answer and nothing.
    there is this thread here:

where the person found a solution but it just seems rather tedious to do.
I am hoping I can find an answer.
I see you posted this back in Feb. Was wondering if you found a solution.

  • I can't import my library anymore?

In the past, whenever itunes got screwed up and couldn't find my library (or whatnot) I was always able to import my library file and it went back to normal. Well, yesterday I had to do some work on my computer and for some reason iTunes wasn't recognizing the folder I had all of my music in. My entire library looked the same, but everything could not be "found" when I clicked on it to play. I went to change my music folder location to the right place, but it didn't make the songs playable.
In past versions of iTunes you were able to import a library file and then sync it up with the music you had for it. However, I can't seem to find that option in the newest version of iTunes.
Am I just missing something? Does anyone know how I can get iTunes to recognize my music folder again before I have to start from scratch?

    Hi Linc
Everything is as it should be regards to sharing prefs etc but nothing is showing up. I tried using homeshare but it produces a (-3150) error on the clients when I try to enable Homeshare on them. The Shared Library does show in the drop down menu on the left but when I try to connect to it, it just hangs and then stops. I just don't think Mavericks works with Bonjour very well. The computers can 'see' each other, and the client knows that there is a shared library, but they cannot connect to each other.

  • How can I import my library to a new computer?

    Hi:
I just bought a new computer, and I'm trying to import my library from my old computer to the new one. I've transferred my 'My Music' folder (along with the iTunes folder inside it) onto the new computer using an external hard-drive, and I've reinstalled iTunes, but when I import the XML file (which I manually backed up from my old computer), I only get 400 songs of my 6,000 (I think these are the songs from 'My Music / iTunes').
I've tried clearing my library and just adding 'My Music' folder, and although this gets all my songs into the library, it puts the full file name under song name (my files don't have any tags on them), and it leaves the artist field blank. Basically, I'd have to go through all my songs and re-do the sorting fields.
I think the problem is that on my old computer, the pathway to 'My Music' was different from the pathway to 'My Music' on my new computer. Does anyone know how I can get my library to look exactly the same as it did on my old computer? As I've said, I have all the files in place, and I have the XML file ready to go. I think I just need to figure out how to get iTunes to find the songs in 'My Music'.
    Thanks!
    J

It's a brand new computer, so there wasn't an iTunes folder in the music folder. I just copied it there from my external hard-drive. I think the problem is that on my old computer the pathway to my songs was: C/documents and settings/Ken/my documents/my music, and on my new computer the pathway is C/documents and settings/dell 720/my documents/my music. I have the songs in the right folder, and I have the iTunes folder inside the folder as well, but iTunes is only finding the iTunes folder ... it isn't finding the songs in the 'My Music' folder. I don't know what to do about this. If I clear my library and start from scratch using 'add folder to library', I'll have to re-enter all my info fields, which isn't a pleasant thought.

  • Can't import a library from external drive

    Hi,
I have always exported projects as new libraries to external drives and then import them when I need to work on or update. I am trying to import a library from my external drive and it says merging libraries but the library is not showing up as a project or importing. Nothing is happening. I don't want to work on it as a stand alone library because I have several projects I need to swap images between. Does anyone know why I can no longer import a library?
    Thank you.

To check the format of your drive - just to be sure about it - select your drive in the Finder and use "File > Get Info" or press "⌘I". You'll see the formatting in the Info panel that opens, in the "General" tab of the panel.

  • Can't import iphoto library into Lightroom

Lightroom does not appear to recognise my pics in the Mac iphoto library.  I can import from other folders/files but not directory from iphoto. Likewise I can't export a photo back into iphoto once it has been "developed" in Lightroom.
Do I have to change some preferences or something?

I recently changed my pc for a mac and all my old photo files were transferred across into iphoto and any new photos from my camera were imported straight into iphoto.   I have since started a course where we use Lightroom but find I can't import any photos stored in iphoto into Lightroom.  iphoto is always "shaded out" in the list when I try to import into Lightroom.
What do you suggest I do in order to import these photos into Lightroom?

  • How can I import a  library ??

How can use the WSDP library of inside Java SDK? I want to use the javax.servlet class but it is not available in SDK, however it is available in WSDP .How can I import them into Java1.4.1 Applications ?
2nd:I have already set JAVA_HOME & ANT_HOME as permenant Environment Variables .the ant build command gives me a message that the setenv.bat is not recognized .
The problem is that setenv.batch is in another directory of the ANT_HOME's and I don't know what variable I should use to point to it.

What classes in particular are you wanting to use? If they're sitting there as jars on your box -- add them to your classpath when you compile/execute and all should be well.
Some of these classes will most likely have dependencies upon classes associated with the J2EE platform (considering that a good deal of them are fashioned to execute inside of some form of servlet container) -- so, it's a wise idea to go ahead and grab the J2EE SDK as well.
And, people do care, they just don't care for someone that nags.

  • Can I Import Common Library Elements From FW?

I have created a series of buttons, sliders, etc., in FW CS3/4 and would like to use them in FC. Is this possible?  I know I can Import Multiple Images from Fireworks into FC; however, these elements already have multiple states.

There is a Fireworks script posted on Adobe labs that will let your export Fireworks files to FXG. You can then import the FXG files into Catalyst.

  • Help! Can't Import iPhoto Library into Aperture

I have a new MacBook Pro with Lion, Aperture 3, and iPhoto 11.
I followed the pre loaded video directions and every time I receive this message:
"Importing libraries from versions earlier than iPhoto 7.1.5 is not supported. Please upgrade your iPhoto library with iPhoto 7.1.5 or later."
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

Do you receive this error message from iPhoto or from Aperture?
You are supposed to upgrade your iPhoto Libraries to version '11 by opening them in the most recent iPhoto version, before importing to Aperture.

  • Can't Import iPhoto Library

I have had Aperture for a while and decided I would intall it and try to import my iPhoto Library. I just had to move the library/photos (referenced) to another hard drive because of size. I had all kinds of alias errors after the move that I was able to fix using "iPhotoLibraryManager" app. Now when I try to import the iPhoto library to Aperture I get the following error (I have even tried to move the old library with the alias problems)
    Invalid iPhoto Library
Importing libraries from versions earlier than iPhoto 7.1.5 is not supported. Please upgrade your iPhoto library with iPhoto 7.1.5 or later.
Any idea on how I can fix this? Iam using version 9.2.1 of iPhoto.

Probably iPhoto Library Manager left your iPhoto Library in a state that is not recognized by Aperture.
I'd recommend to rebuild your iPhoto Library:
    Quit iPhoto, if it’s open.
Hold down the Command and Option keys as you click the iPhoto icon. The “Rebuild Photo Library” dialog appears.
Select: "Repair the iPhoto Library Database"
    Click the "Rebuild" button.
Then try again, if your iPhoto-Library now has the correct version and Aperture can import it.

  • IMovie 10 can´t import old library

    Hi,
my iMovie crashed, the app didn´t open anymore.
So I uninstalled it and got the App back from the App Store. Then, for an unknown reason, I opened iMovie and it looked like it would work.
I thought I could use Time Machine to get back all my movies and so I used it.
Now, when I´m asked which iMovie-Library I want to import and I select the only one I have I´m getting the following error-message: (translated with google):
"The operation could not be completed. One or more projects or events have been created with a newer version of iMovie. These projects and events are ignored."
After that iMovie shuts down. Now I know that I should have done it first with Time Machine. But it´s too late...
I can select "New" but then I have no possibility to get my movies and projects back...
Does anybody here know how to fix the problem?
    Thanks,
    Melanie

    I'm a bit confused -
You redownload iMovie 10.0.3 from the App store and then later tried recovering 10.0.2 from Time Machine but both give the same error message - is that correct?
The message doesn't make sense when you are using iMovie 10.0.3 since its the latest version.
Your library was last updated under 10.0.3 but you have now replaced it with a Time Machine backup which was created under 10.0.2 - correct?
What happens if you try to launch iMovie by double-clicking on your library - same error message?
iMovie 10.0.3 must work with a library created with iMovie 10.0.2 otherwise no-one would have been able to open any library after updating to 10.0.3.   The other way round might not work - though I'd be surprised - the changes in iMovie were quite minor.
Have tried deleting the iMovie preference file and rebooting?

  • Can't import iTunes Library.xml to rebuild library in iTunes 7.5 - why?

    Hi,
I did an "erase & install" with Leopard because I got kernel panics with 10.4.11, and whenever I try to import my old iTunes Library.xml (which weighs more than 45 Mo) to rebuild my library in iTunes 7.5 as indicated in the kb, I get a new kernel panic before it can complete the process, usually between the 10th and 15th minute. This happens even with extensions removed, and with permissions repaired.
However, I noticed that when I interrupt the process, the partial file I get is functional and I get access to a random portion of my library...
    Does anybody have a tip?
My library is really important for me, especially the playlists, which I have saved separately one by one. Does anyone know if they would work if reimported with a library rebuilt from scratch by dragging and dropping my music files in iTunes?
Thanks for your help, I know it's a lot to ask...
    Ben

You should be able to create a new Library file by doing the drag and drop of your music files as you describe. I would do them about 50 albums at a time to start with.
You might want to start by quitting iTunes and going to the /Your Home/Music/iTunes Music folder and moving the "iTunes Library" itl and "iTunes Music Library.xml" to your Desktop. Then launch iTunes to create new blank ones. Set your iTunes preferences and so forth before you begin. Do a few and make sure you are getting the results you are expecting. In other words do you want iTunes to move your music files to the default location, etc.
You may need to recreate your playlists when done if you do not have the individual xml files to re-import.

  • Mavericks can'i import iPhoto library from MBP

Trying to import an iPhoto library from an older MBP running Lion onto a new Mac mini, I follow instructions to upgrade the old library, so the newer version of iPhoto on the mini can see it. Downloaded the upgrader and run it but iPhoto quits. Going back to the upgrader it says that the library is already upgraded. When I attempt to open iPhoto it goes back to examining the library for a couple minutes, then quits.

What's the easiest way to do this?
Connect the clone, open the Users folder on it, and then your home folder and Pictures. Next, drag the iPhoto Library to the corresponding location on the iMac.

  • Can't Import iPhoto Library "package" into Aperture 3

Hi there, I've recently made a backup of all my data and did a clean reinstall of Lion, so the problem is that I won't be using my iLife 11 Suite, so as for my photos I want to take advantage of my recently purchased copy of Aperture 3 but when I ever try to import my iPhoto Library Package, it won't let me, this message pops:
    Invalid iPhoto Library
Importing libraries from versions earlier than iPhoto 7.1.5 is not supported. Please upgrade your iPhoto library with iPhoto 7.1.5 or later.
So, searched into some discussions and realize I had to upgrade or restore my library using iPhoto.
Is there any other way to get all my photos and videos in that package, into my aperture library?
One thing to consider is that I can right-click this package and open its contents and then I can get individual files and view everything, but since there's this function for importing all of the library, I would really love to do it this way, not individually.
    NEED HELP PLEASE!

Ii you are sure that all of your iPhoto images have been transferred safely, you can remove the you iPhoto Library from your system drive. But keep a backup copy of it on an external drive or thumbsdrive- sometimes you'll notice only later that some images could not be imported properly because of some corruption in the iPhoto library, and then it will be very helpful to still be able to open your old iPhoto Library.
