Can't import to newly created folder (Aperture 3.4.3)

I have created a folder within a project in Aperture 3.4.3 (like I've done a hundred times).  Aperture sees the folder but when I select "Import", the new folder (but not my other folders) "grays out" preventing me from importing to it.
Has anybody else seen this?  How do I fix it?
Please help!  My pictures are backing up on my camera.
Thanks,
Brian

You don't really import into a folder. When you select a folder to import into the images are actually going into the project attached to the folder set in the Project Name box.
Projects can't contain projects so if the folder is under a project Aperture can't make a new project in that folder, hence it is not selectable.

  • Why can't I store files in a newly created folder?

Every time I use the option Save As (from Internet downloads or "Save Image as" on web pages) and try to store it in a newly created folder, this new folder can not be selected. I have to use a trick to select some other folder first (like its parent) and then navigate back to this new folder. Why is that?

OK. Got it! Went to the original folder instead of the alias. Changed the admin privileges to "Read & Write" and, Whala! Now I don't have to enter my password every time I want to add, delete or replace a file in my Utilities folder.

  • When importing bookmarks, can I import them to a folder other than "Bookmarks Menu"?

I want to import bookmarks from an html file. I would like to keep them separate from the bookmarks I already have in Firefox.
Can I import them into a sub-folder that I create within the "Bookmarks Menu" folder?
For example, I might make a folder "Imported Bookmarks".
    I have Firefox 6.0 and Windows 7.
    Thanks.

They will be imported into a folder at the bottom of your "Bookmarks Menu" folder.
Simply drag it to where you want it, and rename it to "Imported bookmarks from ....". It will still be somewhere in you "Bookmarks Menu" though.
Unless you import them through the File menu directly from another browser.
Suggest you create a bookmarks backup if you are going to play where you not familiar.

  • Can't import an iPhoto library into Aperture

I'm using Aperture 1.5.2 and iPhoto 6.0.6 and cannot get Aperture to import my iPhoto library. I am following the procedure in the Aperture User Manual (p. 112) but it doesn't work. I don't get a beach-ball cursor or anything... no images, no disk activity, etc. This is regardless of the “Store Files:” or “Version Names:” or other settings in the dialog box.
I saw the Apple Support doc entitled “Aperture can't import iPhoto Library from iPhoto 6.0.1 or 6.0.2” which promises a fix in Aperture 1.1. Is this still the same problem? Or is it a different problem?
I know I can drag the photos from iPhoto into Aperture, but keywords are not preserved. Any suggestions?
    PowerBook Al 15   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I recently started using Aperture 1.5.2 and imported my iPhoto Library from iPhoto 6.0.6, so it's not an impossible task. I also had a lot of trouble with it. I can say it was a pain and there were several false starts and once it froze half-way through importing them. I did File -> Import... -> iPhoto Library and I left the files in their current location... but you said this was regardless of settings. I swear the thing just sat their for a good 20 minutes after I told it to import, although I can't recall if there was a spinning cursor or not. I'd get occasional errors about being unable to connect to server at the beginning (after it sat there for 20 minutes) and middle of the process. I just kept hitting Okay and if I had all other applications closed, Aperature finally did it. So... I guess that all amounts to: "I had problems, too, but after several tries it worked so maybe just keep trying and let it sit for awhile if no one else has a more helpful suggestion." Good luck!

  • I can not import pictures from iPad into Aperture

I have an iPad 1, latest iOS. I shoot Nikon RAW files that I import unsingh the camera connector kit (CCK). I use Aperture, again latest version. All of that in OS X latest and greatest on an iMac (March 2009).
I simply can not import pics from the iPad onto Aperture.
AP3 does see the iPad when I go in import mode (CMD I) and does see all my pics (just came back from vacation with 3000+).
Importing All starts the process, the import wheel spins, but the nothing happens . If I double click on the "Importing..." message to see the scheduled tasks, I do see that a number of importing tasks are scheduled.
However, no progress is ever made.
    Any ideas?

Are you connected to the wi-fi and/or 3G

  • Can't import bookmarks from Safari - folder empty

Can't import Safari bookmarks -- folder is empty. Working on iMac flat-panel PPC OS X 10.4.11; Safari v4.1 -- Firefox v3.6.6 (just upgraded! sucks.)

Yes, I couldn't see anything starting with H3, Only bookmark names.
I assume I am checking correctly? For example, Sydney Ferries - Home is one bookmark. When I open the .Html file and click this, the webpage opens on Sydney Ferries.
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Can I use my newly created iCloud email address as my Apple ID?

    Hey,
I know there have been loads of post regarding iCloud and account issues. I was wondering if it was possible to use my newly created iCLoud email address as my Apple ID and its primary address. I had a hotmail account as my Apple ID before signing up for iCloud. For me it's purely cosmetic and I want to retire that hotmail address.
    Thanks
    Peter

this has been really bugging me as well, i dont see why we cant do this.
if you create a new apple id you get the option to use a free icloud email as the apple id, but old users are stuck?

  • How can I import to my iMac's Aperture from my MacBook Air?

    Hello!
I started working with relativily small librarie in my MacBook air, it has a size of 12GB more or less.
My question is: how can I import/merge this library to my iMac library.
    Thanks.
    Federico

Whatever you can.  Dropbox.  Ethernet.  Firewire.  Thumb-drive.  I'm pretty sure you can set up an ad-hoc wireless network between the two machines.

  • I can't import from my iPhone into Aperture anymore

Since upgrading last night to 10.10.3 and running the new Photos app, I'm unable to import from my iPhone into Aperture. My iPhone does not show up in the Import pane. Anybody else seeing this? or am I missing something?

I agree that Apple screwed Aperture users. I don't understand why. Over the last few years, Apple has dumbed down some applications which makes those apps much less useful. Then they slowly start adding some functions back in for a couple of years then nothing. Look at Pages. It still is missing features that the old pages had.
Apple should have simply given Aperture to everybody and maybe implemented a Simple User function for those people that don't need professional features. Here was an app ready to go and what does Apple do? Get rid of Aperture to come up with a "toy" replacement, as somebody on these discussion boards mentioned. I'm very disappointed in Apple and the direction that some of these apps are taking. I used to enthusiastically push Apple products to everybody but now I mind my own business. It's a sad state of affairs. The whole quality has gone down. All this reminds me of Apple before Steve Jobs took over. Somebody needs to crack the whip over there and focus on quality and useful apps AND listen to the users.

  • Need help deleting newly created folder...

So, I'm using an iCal alarm to download a folder of files (.jpgs) using fetch. I then have a folder action set up to move the newly downloaded images to another folder, then they are separated by a "move by EXIF data" action.
This all works well, but I need to delete the folder the images were originally downloaded in, so that when the Fetch/iCal action downloads the folder/images the next day, it doesn't create a new folder with a "-1" added to it.
I have tried all the combinations of "Get Specified Finder Items," "Get Folder Contents" and "Move Finder Items to Trash," but I can't get this one little empty folder to go away...
    Any suggestions?
    Yer Pal,
    Gel-Sol

    Nevermind. I figured it out!
I had an unecessary "Move Finder Items" action after a "New Folder" action. This somehow messed up the flow, cuz files are moved within the "New Folder" action.

  • Newly created folder in Exchange email account populates to wrong location

I am trying to make a new folder in my exchange-based email account from within Mail. However, when I try to make it show up underneath my inbox in left column (like all the other existing folders) it instead creates the folder in a brand new root directory. I have a pic uploaded at http://gallery.me.com/jgelfond/100035
I want the new folder to be with all of the other folders under the "Seven-Star" inbox at the top, but instead my "test" folder is created in a brand new "Seven-Star" directory at the bottom. I can then manually move that folder to inside any of the folders under the topmost "Seven-Star" folder, but not at the level that the "Clients" and "filing" folders are at.
    Any help? Thank you!

another note: if I go into the webmail service for my Exchange-based email address and create the new folder there, it will populate in the same place as all of my previous folders (at the top, if you look at the picture). The folders will only be created at the bottom if I create the new folder from within Mail.
    Any help would be appreciated!

  • LV 7.1 - How can I use installer to create folder with its files included w/o adding each file?

I have several files to place in folders created by the installer. Can't seem to see how I can avoid adding each file individually at build time. Is there an easier way to do this? Simply "adding" a folder would be a solution.

  • Can't Import Quicktime Files Created in FCP

    FCP: Version 4.5
    Mac OSX 10.4.7
When finished editing a sequence, I exported it using FILE > EXPORT > QUICKTIME CONVERSION > and selected Quicktime Movie, Broadband Medium. I was very pleased. However, I want to go back and make a minor edit to the footage, but FCP wont let me import the file that was created back into FCP. (It says "Error: Unknown File".) I no longer have access to the original tapes, so these exported files are all I have to work with. Any suggestions on how I can get it back into FCP and do some editing? Thanks.
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It will cost a bit of picture quality, but seems to me you should be able to open these in QT Pro and export them in an editable format like DV, uncompressed, etc... edit them then recompress.
But keep in mind that theory states there will be a digital generation loss doing this. Better to have kept the media or tapes, but then the loss may be OK...
