Can't import tracks from an older version of iTunes

Since my rMBP has no optical drive I've found a practical use for my old G3 iMac which is for ripping CDs.
The G3 of course is only running iTunes 7.6 (the newest version available for G3 Macs) whereas my MBP is running the latest version.
I've shared the iTunes Library on the G3 and can access it on my MBP, and can even play tracks, but there is no Import button at the bottom of the window so I can't import the ripped tracks into my MBP iTunes. This works fine if I use my wife's MBP (my old one) which is also running the latest version of iTunes.
Have I missed a setting on the G3, or is this a limitation due to the big difference in iTunes versions?
I'm ripping to Apple Lossless if that matters.

It should be like the very first time you synced your phone with I-Tunes. It will notice you haven't synced before and just copy everything from your phone into I-Tunes. It shouldn't delete anything from the phone, at least it never has for me. It just puts a copy of everything into I-Tunes and even if you delete an app for example from your phone and you decide you want it back later, you can just go back into I-Tunes and copy it back over. Hope this helps.

Playlists from an older version of iTunes not working in iTunes 9

Im trying to transfer my itunes music from my external hard drive onto my new computer. My previous computer was running an older version of itunes, and when i try to transfer the music over from that hard drive (i simply move the whole itunes folder onto the new computer), the playlists dont make it, but the music does. How do I get the playlists from an older version of itunes into itunes 9?

Can I go back to an older version of iTunes that'll support both my iPhone 4S w/iOS6 and my 2009 MacBook running Leapord 10.5.8? I simply want everything to work the way it had been forever until recently. However, I can't imagine Apple would intentionally make their own products obsolete by rendering them useless through a software "upgrade." My MacBook is only 3 yrs old so I feel like I am simply missing 1 piece to this puzzle in order for things to start working again. I have my MacBook, iPod and iPhone 4S all set up to install updates automatically so if I need to uninstall certain updates and revert back to ones that work will that even be an option? Thanks

Can't import Cd's in latest version of itunes

Since updating itunes i am unable to import CD's.
Initial error message says " Itunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CD's, you need to reinstall".
I have followed numerous threads to try & fix this problem, but to no avail.
When i run the CD/DVD Diagnostic in itunes, it asks me to insert CD then select an Optical Drive from the drop-down menu........My drop-down menu is empty!
Any ideas how i can try to fix this?

How do I transfer songs from an older version of itunes to the new version.

I have songs on my ipod from an old version of itunes. Now I have the new version of itunes but I cannot transfer the songs from the ipod to my computer. Anybody know how?

Importing Playlists from an older version itunes

I have a new machine and installed the latest itunes. I have the backup files of itunes from two old machines that are no longer available. I was able to drag/drop the music in no problem. The old itunes backups each have a folder called playlists and my old playlists are in there. I want to import/merge them into itunes on my new machine. I use File / library / Import Playlist but nothing happens when I pick one of the files. What am I missing?

When I import midi on an older version of itunes, how do I remove the background crackling after the midi to mp3 conversion?

When I import a midi file to itunes (older version as this feature is missing from newer versions) I get a lot of crackling in the background when I convert it. My midi files don't do that on their own and when I don't convert the file in Itunes, it sounds clear. How do I get it to sound like the standard playback or if that's not possible, how do I get it to sound clearer?

Do a web search for "revert iTunes". There are many web sites with detailed instructions. It is a complicated process and I do not think it can be achieved with Time Machine alone. Time Machine can act as a source for your old library file but the rest involves going into protected files and folders of the system and removing various components. Oh, the version to which you want to revert also has to be one of the few still available for download. I don't, for example, think you can download a copy of iTunes 12.0 It would have to be 11.4 and you would have to have a backup copy of your library file from back when you used that version.

I can't import music from widows media player to itunes!

I'm going crazy, I have tried every way of importing my music from my media player to itunes but to no avail. I have way to much music in my computer it would take forever to upload them all again into itunes. It has to be a lot easier than I am making it, someone please help me!

Ok, so I looked into my windows media player, it is version 9, but when I looked in my tools setting under "Copy" the box where it says to protect your music is not checked. I then went into the "Media Library" tab and set the access rights of other applications to full. I tried again to transfer and it didn't work. The options I am getting when I go to import music are .txt, .xml, or .m3u none of which work. So, I'm stuck again. Thank you so much for your help, I really appreciate it!

I recently upgraded to iTunes 6 and I HATE it. It freezes a lot and at first, the preferences option under the edit menu was not even there and now it will not let me click on any of the tabs at the top. It only shows the "general" options. I had no problems with my earlier version of iTunes and it's not my computer because I have no problems with any other programs.Is there any way I can downgrade and go back to the last version? Or what can I do to fix iTunes 6 now that I'm stuck with it? I'd appreciate any help because there doesn't seem to be any way to contact Apple to ask them. hmmm. this sort of thing is sometimes caused by a corrupt itunes preferences file. let's see if we can fix this by rebuilding that file. try using the instructions on rebuilding a preferences file in this user tip:

Can I import projects from the full version of Final Cut Pro X from when I was using the trial version?

So I recently purchased the full edition of Final Cut Pro X, and was wondering why one of the projects I was working on at the time it expired imported back into FCP without asking me, but the other did not. I really need to use this file, but it is in the format of .fcpproject, so I really don't understand why I am not able to use it. It sometimes says when I try to open it that the version of that project was made in an updated version of FCP, or something to that affect, so it cannot be used. I have no idea why it says this, because as far as I know that is un-true. Any ideas?
Edit: I also don't want to delete the trial yet, a little apprehensive, like maybe I need it. But I might if it comes to that. I suppose the time did run out so it is practically worth nothing...

You do not open fcpproject files. You don't double click or anything else. The files have to be in the correct folder structure in the Final Cut Projects folder and the application opens them automatically. Can you post screen shots of the Final Cut Projects folder and its location.

How do you import actions from an older version of elements to a newer one?

I just upgraded from Elements 6 for a mac to Elements 9. I have about twenty or so actions I've downloaded into Elements 6. Does anyone know how I might import these actions into Elements 9? I'm hoping there is an easier way than importing them each one by one from the original files.....Thanks!

I was about to post to ask Paul what advantage there is in Exporting/Importing Projects over simply converting the Library as kbeat suggests.
Then I reread the original post and realized that what you are trying to do is combine the two libraries.
If that's the case, Paul has given you the answer.

I can't import photos from my PC as my Itunes does not have a check box from Syncing under the photos option?

I am trying to import my photos from the computer. I went into ITunes, connected my Iphone and went under the photo section expecting to see a check box for syncing. It's not there and all I have is a note about Icloud. Can anyone help?

If you do not see a checkbox to enable syncing photos, and instead see a message the iCloud Photos is on, then it indicates you have iCloud Photo Library enabled on your iPhone, and the photos already exist on your phone. To learn more about iCloud Photo Library, take a look at the article below.

Help! i can't import movies from my computer onto my itunes!

they are VOB file type!

If you want to add movies to itunes, you have to cenvert them to m4p or m4v. For me it was a big proces, and i still dont understand why there is no plugin for itunes, so itunes can import mpg, avi etc.
