Can't import videos into iTunes

Yeah..so maybe I'm just ********, but I cant get any videos onto iTunes. I've tried all the formats, .mpeg and .mov and such, but can't get it. When I choose Import or drag and drop the video into iTunes, nothing happens. I'm lost...

I have the exact same problem. I've tried several differnt ways trying to get 3 different videos in my library but they just wont go. I've been through File > Add file to library, and as well as File > Add folder to library. But when I click on the movie and click Open it does nothing. I have no idea why but it's driving me crazy. Please help me too...

ITunes 7.3 - Can't import videos into itunes

I've been trying for a while to import some videos into my iTunes, trying various formats (mv4, mp4 and mov), but none will actually import. I've even tried moving one of my friends movies off a thumbdrive, but that didnt work either.
Can someone please help me? I have no idea how I can fix this, and there are some radiohead videos that I must have on my iPod.

I don't know much about Vista, but the first time I tried to import movies, I had to download a compressor. Grant it that I compressed the whole DVD, but still it worked from the finalized compressed version. Then just import, locate file, and open.

You can do this with a free app called MPEG Streamclip and a $20 quicktime component from Apple.

Possibly. Media Go supports a variety of music formats, some of which can be imported in to iTunes and then synced on to an iPhone, however some of its formats cannot be imported in to iTunes.
See http://mediago.sony.com/enu/supported-file-formats/ for a list of formats supported by Media Go. iTunes for Windows supports MP3, AAC, WAV, and can import and convert WMA files as well. However iTunes does not support ATRAC, or FLAC.
Furthermore, if some of your music has been bought from an Internet music store it might be procted by DRM. If so it cannot be imported in to iTunes.
To do the importing you would either drag the music files in to iTunes, or tell iTunes to open them. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1347

How to import video into iTunes?

This may be obvious to some but for the life of me I can't find out how to do it. Perhaps someone can give me a hand. The Apple documentation is incredibly vague about this topic.
I have some video files (in .wmv format, but I have a converter that can convert to other formats). I want to import them into iTunes so that I can play them on an iTouch. It shouldn't be rocket science but I can't find precise instructions on how to do it. I have the latest iTunes and OS 3.1.2 for the iTouch.

Well with some help from a co-worker and some experimentation I finally managed to load video onto iTunes. Apparently only files of the type .mp4 and .m4v (maybe .mov also?) will work. You have to open the "Movies" panel from the "Library" tab and then drag the files over there. Try dragging any other kinds of file and iTunes will just ignore you. Is it really so hard for Apple to describe that simple procedure in Help?

Can't import videos to iTunes!??

I've been trying to import videos to itunes and for some reason they just won't go in! I have tried dvdrips and already converted to mp4 files on my harddrive, i've even downloaded the sample movie from the apple website to try and import that.
When i go to import in the fille menu, find the file and click choose absolutely nothing happens. the finder window closes and thats it. the same happens for add to library function. i have the most up to date version of itunes and my brother has the same mac ipod and itunes version and can do it just fine exactly the same way as i am trying. pretty frustrating can anyone help?? pleases?

Have you tried using the Finder? Just drag the video files onto Library in the sidebar. iTunes can be unresponsive - don't drop the files until Library (or Movies) turns blue and you see a green dot with a plus sign on your cursor.
Once your movies are in iTunes, you can convert them to iPod format. Select the movie under Movies, then choose Advanced > Convert Selection to iPod.

Can't import videos to iTunes library...

I can't get videos into my iTunes library. I've done it once before, but my computer isn't letting me drag the file from the Movie folder on my computer to the library on iTunes.
Does it make a difference which format the movie is? Because it's .avi, so yeah. I know its got to be a certain format for it to be on the iPod, and you can just click the "convert to AAC" or whatever on the video, but I just can't get it into the library to convert it to the AAC.

Sorry to bust in on this thread but am pretty good with computers but feel like a real idiot here.
I recently downloaded a video and converted it into mpeg-4 using videora which was done successfully. Now I opened Itunes and went onto library where all my songs are and clciked on 'file' and then 'add file to library' and double clicked on the video which said it was mpeg-4 and I cant find it in my library, nor is it listed when I go down and click on videos.
I hope I'm doing something really stupid and missing something. Can anyone help??

when i bought my iMac, there was already iTunes 6 and i could insert videos into iTunes and sync it into my iPod video...
but now, i've already downloaded iTunes 7.02...
the weird thing is...i can't insert any videos into the library!
i already tried videos with ending .mp4 and .3gp...
but it doesn't appear in the library...
what should i do?

Tried to import CD into Itunes on VAIO laptop, using Windows 7. Get the following message "Itunes has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Have no problem importing on another computer using Windows 2000. Very frustrating. Any suggestions?

First we should check the precise version number of your iTunes. In iTunes, go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
Do you have a version 10.1.0.54 ? If so, upgrade to a higher version as per the following document:

Can't import video to iTunes

I have just purchased an 80gb iPod classic, and installed iTunes for the first time. I used Adobe Premier Elements 3.0 to convert 5 video clips of our children to iPod (H.264). Of the 5, 4 were imported as movies by iTunes. However, I cannot find a way to get the 5th into iTunes so I can synch to my iPod; I tried "add file to library", import, drag-and-drop - all failed. Since the videos were all taken with the same camera and converted with the same software, I'm not sure what the issue is. The only differentiator is that the file that I can't move to iTunes is larger (around 450mb vs. the next largest at 375mb).
Any thoughts?

Good advice, but they're not there when I search, and there's no new folder in itunes music library. If they were transferring at all I'd expect a few seconds of progress bar action to show this. Instead they just don't transfer at all.
If anyone can post a step by step breakdown of how they put vid into itunes I'll see if I've missed something.

I have read the manual's entries on doing this and nothing seems to be working. It won't let me import my own videos into the itunes library for me to convert to a file recognized by ipod. I have a 5th generation ipod. I am doing everything it tells me to do and still nothing. I have called technical support and they won't help me because I didn't purchase the videos through itunes. I have tried to click and drag the file and it won't let me do it even though the manual says that's what to do. when I look into the movies tab it is blank. When I put a dvd in my drive to copy to itunes library it doesn't even show up. I am going crazy and am about to return this if I can't get this figured out.

hmmmm. does there seem to be any size limit on the number of files you can transfer?
(say, by way of experiment, does a single file add when dragging and dropping, or if you use add file to library?)

Hello, we are new to this whole iPod world. We just bought the iPod 30gb that plays video. If we purchase a video from the music store, it works. But we have videos that were downloaded from another program that we would like to import into iTunes. When we select import file, and then chose the video file, the computer freezes. I'm from Canada and am looking for help in downloading videos to my 30GB video ipod. I seem to not be able to purchase videos because I live in Canada. When I enter my address and credit card info - it notices its from Canada and won't let me download anything. Not sure what to do - support is non-existent for itunes and Apple. Any ideas? i have movies in mp4 format which is compatible with my ipod but i can't seem to be able to drag those files into my itunes. how can i upload my videos onto my ipod if i can't get them into my itunes?? ): can somebody help me pls?

Well, open your iPod options, choose the Videos tab, and make sure it's set to automatic update. If it already is, right click on the video(s) and choose "Convert Selection for iPod."
