Please how I can insert powerpoint slide 2007 pptx extension
into captivate 3 . Now I can only insert after saving the
powerpoint slide in 97-2003 format .ppt extension. Please let me
know

Can't view Powerpoint 2007 thumbnails in Bridge CS5 (Win 7)

I can view 2003 (win) files (saved from Powerpoint 2007) as thumnails in Bridge, but thumbs for 2007 files (*.pptx) are not generated.
Any ideas?

I have seen screenshots with PPTX thumbnails visible. I believe these Bridge thumbnails appear on WinXP installs so I'm thinking there is a Win7 aspect to this...
Using a Mac with CS6 I tried a pps, ppt and a pptx file and all of them only show as Powerpoint icon and none have a thumbnail with preview of the content.
Also tried it with Apple Keynote, the Mac PP equivalent and here I checked the option to include a preview of the file but same result, just an icon of Keynote application.
Looking at the file type associations their is neither support for Powerpoint not Keynote so it does not seem possible.
The screenshot from your memory is probably manipulated or you suffer from good memory like we all seem to do every now and then...

Can you change the output slide size in Captivate 7?

I am looking to change the defualt size of the slides when a project is published into a word doucment. I have seen this done before, but I cannot find any information on this process. I know it needs to be done in a Captivate folder and not in the project it self.

Nevermind, I found it in the Adobe Captivate folder under Gallery\Printoutput. From there you will have 3 different word docs, Lesson.doc Step by step.doc, and Stroyboard.doc. You make the change desired output document.

Powerpoint text slides unreadable

Hello, I am inserting Powerpoint(2007) slides into a video of a presentation. These slides have a lot of text on them, and when I put them into Premiere, they become virtually unreadable. The only effect I am adding is .5 anti-flicker, which blurs the slides a bit and makes them a LITTLE more readable (1.0 anti-flicker just looks like I need glasses).
The slides are exported from PPT as bitmaps to avoid text compression issues. Their native resolution is 960x720 (4:3), while the video is 720x480 (3:2). I'm reducing each slide to about 50% of its original size so it will fit on the screen.
I've looked around for anything that would help make this text readable, but I was unsuccessful so far. I am using Adobe CS3.

The issue becomes one of building a PP slide for computer screens, which are typically much higher resolution than TV screens. PP creators aren't often aware of this and so don't take any care to make their slides "TV friendly" (text size, overscan, interlacing, etc.)
You may simply have to rebuild the slides in Premiere/Photoshop, or even redesign the entire presentation as making the text large enough to read might also make it too large to fit all of it on the same slide.
What would be nice is if Microsoft would incorporate a sort of "Video Mode" into PowerPoint, which will only allow 720 x 480 screen sizes, will not allow any elements but the background to be placed outside of a 10% Safe Title area, will not allow any text with point sizes to small to read when displayed on a 27' TV from 13 feet away, would not allow any 'unsafe' colors, and such like that. Only then can we video producers get truly compatible PowerPoint's from out clients (who would be fully expected to design their presentations using the TV Template from scratch, or redesign it after the fact if they decide later they want to add it to a video.)

FM 8 and MS Powerpoint 2007

When using Powerpoint 2003, I was able to copy a slide and paste into a graphics box in FM8. After upgrading Powerpoint to 2007, when I paste a slide into FM 8 , any vertical text appears as a mirror image (backwards). How can I get Powerpoint 2007 slides into my FM 8?!?!

The text is not mirrored. Instead, it is running bottom to top. Maybe
you need to rotate the lines 180° in the original. The fonts throughout
the document are horribly kerned, which is one of the signs of font
substitution. It looks like the font used to compose the document is
missing on your computer.
I rarely use PowerPoint-- and I don't believe that FM supports it
directly-- so I imagine the best way to get a graphic out of PowerPoint
is to save as either EPS or PDF and import the result into FrameMaker by
reference (rather than by copy).

Can I insert a powerpoint presentation in Keynote

Can I insert a small powerpoint presentation on one of my keynote slides - I'd like to be able to keep the keynote presentation running, but click and bring up the powerpoint slides and when done - I need it to go back to my keynote slides.
When I try to insert - the .pptx files are greyed out.

Open the PowerPoint file in Keynote: File >Open
copy and paste these slides into the other presentation at the place you want them to show

I am problem encountering an issue using the Shockwave Flash
Object in PowerPoint 2007. After placing the Shockwave Flash
ActiveX control into the slide, I can get slide to auto play the
SWF file without issue. The problem is that there is a "PLAY >"
button displayed under the Flash movie.
I can't seem to hide the "PLAY >" button.

I've gotten a little further on this. The dynamic select is
working fine. It's the "a href" code that isn't. I'm wondering if
someone can look at this line and tell me if it's okay to build the

Can't insert a CD/DVD into the disc drive. Recently installed a new harddrive, and the CD/DVD drive hardware is no longer recognized. Also, with new harddrive, OS was updated from Snow Leopard to Mt. Lion 10.8.5 on late 2007 MBP.

I created a KeyNote presentation for my class in KeyNote and saved it to a PowerPoint 2003 format (teacher request). I sent it off to the teacher, who used PowerPoint 2007 to add comments using the comments feature on the review tab, who then sent it back to me.
I opened the presentation in KeyNote and there are no notes shown. I made sure the SHOW COMMENTS option was selected in the file menu but they are nowhere to be seen.
I will note that there were no errors in the compatibility box when I opened it in KeyNote. I do have a copy of PowerPoint 2007 in BootCamp and the comments do show. But I'd rather, for obvious reason, use KeyNote.

PDF and PowerPoint 2007, strange slides and handouts

I'm getting strange output when I create a presentation in PowerPoint and print to Acrobat. The problems happen whether I print Slides or Handouts.
-- On some slides, the slide title is partially or completely missing.
-- In grayscale mode, some graphics show up in color.
-- Solid-color shapes (boxes) show up cross-hatched.
-- For handouts only, some slides have headers and footers, and others do not.
I'm using PowerPoint 2007, up to date, and Acrobat Professional 9.1.3.
I've used PowerPoint and Acrobat for many years and only recently began to have these problems. I've tried changing some of the endless printing options in Acrobat, but nothing I've found so far has made a difference.
Those problems (with the possible exception of the color graphics in grayscale mode, I don't remember) do not happen when I print to Microsoft's XPS format.
Any ideas?

Thank you! That's helping a lot. I don't see how to get grayscale in that route, but at least I'm getting proper color handouts, no errors. Plus it outputs much faster. Hmmm. I haven't tried saving in PPT format instead of PPTX. And then there's an Excel spreadsheet that takes several minutes to output 14 pages via print to Adobe PDF printer (it used to be much faster, I don't know why it suddenly slowed down, I didn't change the spreadsheet), I wonder if that would be faster if I saved in PDF format rather than printing to the Adobe PDF printer.

How can I get smartart animiations to work in Captivate 7 that was imported from a powerpoint slide?

I am having problems getting the smartart animations to work. The shape animations work fine. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I am having the same issue, only anytime I try to import a smartart animation I get an error message and Captivate quits.
I am using Captivate 7 64bit version 7.0.1.237 on Windows 7 pro 64-bit with MS Powerpoint 2007.
Steps
1. I create a new powerpoint project.
2. Create a new slide and add a SmartArt Object (Stacked Venn in this example)
3. Apply text labels to the Stacked Venn (I labeled as 1,2,3 and 4)
Note: Everything imports into Captivate properly at this point using high fidelity.
4. Click animations tab and add "animate one by one" (in my example I chose fade one by one)
Now try to import into Captivate with High Fidelity checked. Captivate produces the following error:
''A fatal error has occurred and the application is being terminated. Adobe Captivate has tried to save all your work in the respective project folders as ".cpbackup" files. Please restart Adobe Captivate"
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

My Deskjet 1510 can't print powerpoint slide at the centre of A4 paper, even after I change both the slide dimension and the paper size in printer preference (advanced) to A4. Please help.

Polachan, just open the Power Point presentation in your copy
of "MS Powerpoint 2007" and use the "Save As" function to save a
copy in "Powerpoint 1997-2003" format.
Then, bring
that copy into Captivate 3, and you should be okay. Okay?
