Can't insert SIM card in iPhone... stuck... ?!

A friend of mine has a new phone that I wanted to try out for a day or two.
I popped the SIM card out of my iPhone, it came out fine, just like normal.
But now when I try to re-insert the SIM card, the tray will go 95% of the way down and I simply can't press it down any more. There's some kind of mechanical obstruction on the side of the paperclip hole. The spring assembly seems stuck or broken. When I push a paperclip in, there's no action, it just hits a hard, immobile surface.
I have tried to use a flashlight to see what's going on, but the slot is too small for me to see anything meaningful. At least not when I don't know what I'm looking for.

If you are lining it up correctly and the issue persists, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

You cannot set it up without a SIM. You need to get one. Doesn't have to be active - you can get a used one on eBay for a buck or two.

Why would that even matter?
The device obviously has a hardware issue and is under warranty, take it to Apple for replacement and move on with life. No reason to make things difficult.

Not as it is, no. The iPhone 4 takes micro-SIMs. It is apparently possible to cut down a standard SIM, but it would be best to just get a new micro-SIM from your cell carrier.

Only Apple can tell whom a device is locked to... contact Apple Customer Support.

But on WiFi, could I still use Skype to make a phone call? I have a camera adapter for the iPhone 4 and would just use it as a camera and to play music after I upgrade to a later versionof iPhone. Am I correct in assuming that I could still do everything except connect through 3G?

E71 hangs at random "Insert SIM card" screen

Since updating to 410.21.010, my E71 occasionally shows a "Insert SIM card" message. This is rather odd, as it's not feasible to do so (the battery blocks the slot), and the SIM hasn't had any trouble before. Worse still, when this occurs the phone becomes entirely useless - not only can I not access running apps (and the model doesn't require a SIM for that), I can't even turn it off!
Upon removal of the battery to forcibly restart the phone, it starts just fine, SIM and all - so the card isn't poorly seated or anything like that. Any help would be appreciated!

First make sure sim is seated properly as you said yourself
second Try another sim card, if it works fine with that then you need to replace your sim card, Contact your operator.
and if it fails to operate properly with any other sim card too, then you need to do a Soft Reset:
(BACKUP YOUR DATA MANUALLY, Take out memory card) Dial this code *#7370# Enter your Lock code, Default is 12345.
And if that fails too then you need visit Nokia Care Point in your area.

Asking for insert sim card on my iphone4 locked

Hi guys, yesterday i reset my iphone4 which is locked on orange, and ios 7.1.1 running over it but after resting when i start it again than phone asking me first to choose country,region and wifi all i have done it but after this it ask me to insert sim card so here i am stuck and dnt know what to do bczz i am living in Pakistan and phone i get it from England so guide me how i use my phone again without sim card??
