Can't install 10.4 is there a fix?
I'm trying to install 10.4 from 10.3.9.
I have enough memory, ram, etc. I think the problem is the disk drive.
When I click on the install icon it says I have to restart. Computer reboots but, nothing happens. I have started from the CD and restarted and held down C and still no install.
Have a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06 and based on my research this maybe the problem. It's a new DVD drive because, the original died.
I tried using XPostFacto but, that still won't let me start from the CD. Used Patchburn and seems the drive is fine.
Any help on updating would be great! Many thanks for your time.
What type of Tiger Install disc are you using? You need to use a black retail Tiger DVD. You can't use gray discs from another model Mac.
Cheers, Tom

iMac froze while surfing web last night (color pinwheel), I forced quit and now when rebooting the fan and chime come on, the monitor stays on grey and the apple sign is replaced by a stop sign and I can't get past this, is there self fix? Never backed up.
The computer (top / back of monitor) gets really hot within minutes. How old is the iMac?
With no backup, you have probably lost all your data.
Sounds like serious hardware problem for which you are going to have to take it to Apple for an estimate of repairs.

As I signed in to Creative Cloud on my desktop, there was a little pop-up bubble from its toolbar icon (I use Windows 7 if that helps at all) saying there is a new update avaible,so it closes the Creative cloud window & quits the app,I press the bubble,it downloads, green bar almost full and everything, then say's it can't install as Creative Cloud is already on this computer, and I need to quit the current version,as its running (but it isn't) so I can't close it and it says to retry via the button and I press it but its completey unresponsive.... ? Its only a update, not a complete re-installation so why would It say that? I've tried to redownload several times and its always said exactly the same thing.
Have you verified the Creative Cloud application is not running in your task manager?

The only cross grade option I know of is the one I linked you to in my original reply.

T420S - Can't install TVSU and a few nits - FIXED!
UPDATE: Fixed
Followed info in this thread - http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkVantage-Technologies/Lenovo-System-update-5-1-won-t-install-on-wind...
Removed all traces of it in registry, rebooted, reinstalled and all seems to be working for now.
I just did a fresh install of Win8 and all the Windows Updates, but I'm unable to install Lenovo SU tool. It keeps giving me error that says "wizard was interrupted before service could be completed...". I tried to do "install as Admin" - no love. Any ideas?
Thanks!!!==
another post:
Look it up from Administrative Tools->Services, Properties and Service Name on the General tab. The name of the executable is not important.
For me, the problem was that System Update failed to install repeatedly, yet I had a service called SUService refering to a Lenovo System Update folder under Program Files, that did not exist. After removing the service manually, System Update installed fine.
I can only imagine uninstalling the System Update did not remove the service, and installation failed, because a service with the same existed, but System Update was not installed. -
Plugins such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Silverlight will show as needing an update on Plugin Check (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/) but every time it downloads, installs, and restarts Firefox, the program is not updated.
This error also occurs when updating Addons. They'll be listed as updated awaiting a Firefox restart, but every Firefox restart does not fix the problem. If I go to uninstall an Addon, it'll say it's ready to uninstall pending restart, but after a restart it is still installed.I had the same problem, until I did some research. I uninstalled firefox 3.6.13, and reinstalled firefox 3.6.12. When I did some research, I found that the quicktime plugin had been blocklisted. I disabled the quicktime plugin, updated to firefox 3.6.13, and the problem was gone. My add-on window doesn't freeze up anymore either.

Can't Install Boot Camp 3.0 on 64-bit Windows 7 system
I have 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate running on HD#2 on a Mac Pro 2,1 system (2006). I've installed the Boot Camp 2.0 drivers after I installed Windows, I forget why I needed them, maybe for an old Apple keyboard.
Anyway, I can't install Boot Camp 3.0 from the Snow Leopard DVD - the installation runs to completion, but generates various error messages, one of which says that Boot Camp 3.0 64-bit can't be installed on this system.
I really need 3.1 now because my Magic Mouse won't work, and I can't sync Mobile Me.
Is there a fix or a workaround to upgrade Boot Camp on this system? Should I use Windows Uninstall to get rid of Boot Camp 2.0 first?
If it matters, Windows 7 is the upgrade version from Vista Ultimate.http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Click on "Downloads", (underneath the big hard drive icon), scroll down a bit and there is a link for "Boot Camp:Upgrading to Windows 7" and another link for Version 3.1 which you need for 64 bit to work right after 10.6.4(?). I would just try downloading the Boot Camp 64bit 3.1 file and try that first if you already have Window's 64 bit installed.
Don't forget you need a WIRED keyboard AND mouse if you need to reinstall Window's.
Here's another link that is all over the place on which machines and which Windows works and what doesn't...

Can't Install Fresh OS X on Mac Pro
Hi there,
I recently bought a used Mac Pro 1,1 2,66Ghz, running on OS 10.5 (leopard). After buying it i found out there were no installlation discs. Found an original "Mac Pro" pair on Ebay for leopard.
Waiting on the installation discs i already installed my upgrade for snow leopard and my Logic Studio. It all worked fine.
Tonight i tried to do a fresh install for this mac (received the original install dvds'). Inserted the install dvd, selected the requested language and all of a sudden it tells me that "it is not possible to install OS X on this computer". Thats odd !! I checked the startup disc, and opened Disk Utility to see if there was anything why i can't install. Found out there was a partition running on the HD, so i deleted the partition. Tried to install it again but it still tells me i can't install OSX. it can't even locate the HD anymore so the ony thing i can choose from now is to start up from the install dvd (which doesn't work) or through a network.
I've read some topics on this forum about some related issues, but honestly that doesn't say anything to me. I'm hoping somebody can explain to me what's going on.
To make things clear, here is the model and equipment. As far as i can tell it is the original set up as how it came out of the factory (exept for the Ram)
Model: Macpro 1,1 (MA356LL/A)
Processor: Intel Xeon 5100 series 2x2,66Ghz Dual Core
Harddrive: 250GB
Media: Superdrive
RAM: 4 GB (4x1GB)
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7300GT 256MB
As i mentioned, OS 10.5 was on it when i bought it. I've upgraded it to 10.6.4 thru original apple software and it worked well.
Thanks in advance
CoenWould like to have it complete with my Mac.
First, get the serial number of your Mac. One way is to go to the Apple at the upper left and choose "About This Mac". By default, the version number of the installed OS shows up just above the "Software Update" button. Click on the OS version number. It will rotate between that, the build number of the OS, and your serial number.
Then call Apple's customer service and request getting replacement disks for your Mac. Provide the serial number so they can get you the correct set, if they have any left. -

You found and hit the limitation of old software are unable to install on newer O/S. This is software limitation nothing Win8 can do to help you install a XP game or Program on Win8.

I can't install newer Safari or others...
My Safari is v. 3.0.3. When I click .pdf files on the web pages, mostly the browser crashes and accidently closed. And video (I think flash movie) from cnn.com is not working.
I tried to install newer Safari, I have enough hard space, about more than 40gb, but the installer said it can not install. I found there was same problem to install some other software.
What do I need to do to fix?
Thanks in advance for help!Hi there:
If your computer system and update step is as indicated in
the signature line of your post, you will have to update the
Mac OS X system to 10.4.11 or Later for Safari 3.1.2 and
several other software updates to install and work there.
More recent versions of flash player and other software
may be required, in addition to a system update to 10.4.11.
Adobe has several players for flash and others; and a
later java version should be available from Apple directly.
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/
A newer java and other updates would likely appear if the
Tiger system were upgrade to 10.4.11, disk permissions
repaired, then even Software Updates ran to see what is
available. At times, singular downloads from Support's
Download page of softare (standalone installers) is best.
Instead of trying to run a long list of software updates
which the more automated Software Update may supply.
From the Safari 3.1.2 Downloads page:
"Macintosh Requirements *Any Mac running Mac OS X
Leopard 10.5.4 or Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11 (or higher)."
Most of the Tiger updates and new browsers, etc for OS X
are set up for the last version of 10.4.(11) with no surprise.
Be sure to use Disk Utility's 'repair disk permissions' before
and after software and security updates. It also does not
hurt to start the computer up in SafeBoot and then run the
Disk Utility's 'repair disk permissions' since a second type
of system check and repair is done, then restart normally.
Good luck & happy computing!

Hi,
We are trying to install SSL certificate (Verisign Class 3) on iPlanet Web Server (version 7). However, at the final step we are getting the error "ADMIN4118: Only one server certificate can be installed at a time"
We are following the below steps,
Under "Server Certificates" tab,
-> Click on "Install" button.
-> On "Select Configuration" click on "Next" button.
-> On "Select Tokens and Passwords", select default token as "internal" and click on "Next" button.
-> On "Enter Certificate Data", select option as "Certficate File" and give path to the certificate file which is having .p7b extension
-> On "Certificate Details" we are getting warning as "Duplicate Server Details Found" and it's by default using the existing certificate's nickname.
-> On "Review" page after clicking "Finish" button, an error is displayed saying "ADMIN4118: Only one certificate server can be installed at a time"
There are multiple sub-domains availble and the new certificate we want to install contains one more sub-domain.
So, say currently the subdomains present are,
1.abc.com
2.abc.com
so on...
and now we are trying to install a SSL certificate having one more subdomain say 10.abc.com.
Please let us know if you have solution to this problem.
Thanks,
RajeshHi Rajesh,
That error is most commonly seen when you are trying to install a certificate chain into the Web Server.
The chain should be installed using the "Certificate Authorities" tab per the following steps:
1) Login to the Admin Console.
2) Click Edit Configuration from Common Tasks > Configuration Tasks.
3) Click the Certificates > Certificate Authorities tab from the Configurations page.
4) Click the Install... tab from the Certificate Authorities (CAs) page.
An Install CA Certificate Wizard opens. The wizard guides you through the settings available for installing a Certificate Chain. Select Certificate Chain when prompted for Certificate Type.
You should then see the CA and intermediate certificate(s) listed in the security database.
If you have access to MOS, more details can be found in the MOS KM Note:
Oracle iPlanet Web Server - 'ADMIN4118: Only one server certificate can be installed at a time' When Installing Certificate Chain (Doc ID 1925025.1)

Please help!!! I can't install CS4 Trial...
I followed the instructions to a T and when I click on the PS symbal that says setup, it won't do nothing. I tried it on my laptop but it won't work on my sons computer for him to try out the software.
Anyone have any other suggestions?
By the way, I am not running a 64 bit computer so I think I am safe. My sons computer is a about 5 yrs old.
Thanks a million,

If it helped you, it may help others. I didn't make the request and ask the questions I did for myselfI'm a Maccer and have no plans to upgrade from PS CS2 any time soon.
That said, though, the problem you stated, and the info you gave, the solution that worked for you...after reading this thread several times, I can't help but feel that there have to be some important details that have been left out. What they are I have no clue about.
But getting from "Can't Install a trial version" to "I fixed it by running a script"one that, on the surface, doesn't even seem to be meant to address the problem you were havinghas left me scratching my head. The "DropletFixer.vbs" script was created before PS CS4 was even released.
But, hey...if it worked, it worked! -
Can't install 7.3 update!
Every time I open the iTunes Store it tells me I should update to version 7.3 but when I try it goes through a 10 minute download and then tells me it can't install the file as there is no valid digital signature. What should I do? What is wrong?
when I try it goes through a 10 minute download and then tells me it can't install the file as there is no valid digital signature.
Although you're getting a slightly different message, perhaps try starting with the following document:
iTunes: Windows reports that iTunesSetup.exe is not a "valid Win32 application"
But if no joy there, try the "Resolution" section from the following document:
