Can't install 4.3 Desktop Manager

Hello all, I have an 8310 Curve and I'm attempting to load the 4.3 Desktop Manager using Vista...I've tried three times: the first two shot me an error that read: "430_b025_english_nomediamanager.exe is not a valid Win 32 Application"; the third one didn't even finish downloading....it gave me an error I didn't write down, but it was something to the effect of  "this file is not authorized to work on this computer" or something like that...I'm trying ultimately to install a couple of dictionaries from Handango, and also a Sudoku game from them...can anyone help me PLEASE? I live and work on the Carnival Ecstasy sailing out of Galveston, TX, so internet is expensive- have already used two internet access cards at $20 each (for 300 mns at about 7.5kbs second :-( messing with this crap...anyway, thanking y'all in advance, Aaron Worley

Hi, I too bought an 8310 today and have spent so far 6 hours trying to install on Vista using every twist available via the Blackberry so-called support pages and have got nowhere.  Naturally, I'm delighted with their sparkling product; reading the postings on this topic, it seems doubtful that anyone will be able to resolve the problems we individually face, however, for good measure I'll add mine.
In my latest attempt I downloaded 4.3 from the website (without media player), extracted all files as a .zip and ran the executable as Administrator.  It runns the installer right to the end (I guess) then gives me "Error 1935.  An error occured during the installation of assembly component (97.... F18E) HRESULT 0x80073683".  It then rolls back and kicks me out.
Pretty hacked off, shame they don't offer any 'real' support.   Sign of the times, i guess.   John

  • Can't install or uninstall Desktop software and Roxio Media Manager has taken over

I had been having trouble with the Blackberry Desktop software crashing each time I closed it when I was done using it. This morning when I booted my computer I got an error message that said RoxWatchTray9 was unable to locate component. When I tried to close that box it attempted to install something but it just stalls. When I close try to cancel it just freezes. After while it tries to install again only to freeze again.
I figured the best solution would be to uninstall and reinstall the program but when I went into Add/Remove I discovered six listings for Blackberry Device Software for Blackberry 9530 smartphone, one for v5.0 and five for v4.7.0. I finally managed to uninstall the v5.0 at the top of the list but I can't remove the other five. I also can't reinstall the program. Roxio Media Manager continues attempting to force an install and is hogging my system resources. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Try this process (you might have to do step 2 multiple times for each instance of what is showing in add/remove programs):
I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/WIN7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove your device OS update package from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchornizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB17022 How to configure organizer applications for synchronization using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Hopefully that will get things going again. You might also want to avoid Media Manager unless you really really need it.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Can't log into any desktop manager KDM set autologin

Hello, new Arch user. I moved over from Ubuntu.
I installed arch on my laptop with KDE, LXDE, and Gnome. I had KDE and LXDE set up and working the way I wanted. I tried to log into Gnome. "Something" is wrong with Gnome (no idea at this point). It simply hangs at a black screen.
I had set KDM to autologin. Now I can't log in, log out, or change desktop environments. I don't know how to turn off the autologin (I turned it on when I was logged into KDE), or force KDM to switch back to a desktop manager that works.
I found my kdmrc (/usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc). It indicates autologin is disabled.
I can get to a shell (ctrl-alt-F#). I can't get to any working graphical environment.

You don't need to login with the master password. When you get to the log in screen, just log in as you would normally.

  • Can't install downloaded Blackberry Desktop software

I downloaded the latest version of the BB 8100 desktop software from the BB site to my computer. It unzips OK but when it starts to install it stops every time. Have exited every Windows program first.  Any ideas?

    Problem:
Similar but not the same as errors 2738 1607 encountered with installing blackberry desktop manager software, there is no error message here, simply the WinZip Self Extractor completes, then the Installshield Wizard opens and appears to be installing.  After several seconds, a BlackBerry window opens (BlackBerry Desktop Software - Installshield Wizard) with the message: "The wizard was interrupted before the BlackBerry Desktop Software could be completely installed. Your system has not been modified. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.    Click Finish to exit the wizard.
    Solution(s)
Ok, saw this thread was un answered so I thought I would reply in case anyone out there has this issue too, it drove me mental for a week too.  (before you read on I am not responsible for any messed up computers, blackberries or anything at all! This  is a GUIDE that worked for me and not the law!) So, here we go… I tried many many things to fix this, I am on Vista home, berry 9700 bold 2, TELUS Mobility (doesn’t really matter), Blackberry handheld OS 5.0, Vista Desktop Manager 5.0.1. English without media manager/roxio w/Sp1 downloaded from blackberry. I tried just about everything you can imagine, know my way around computers reasonably well (or so my mom tells me haha) and uninstalled the previous version of desktop manager with REVO uninstaller etc...
Some of the other things I tried that did NOT work for me but MAY WORK for you are as follows, what ultimately worked for me was step C and all sub sections of, I might start there but I am writing this in order of things I tried.
Solution A) un/re registering vbscript.dll (in c:windows\system32) to no avail…click start, run cmd prompt (should open as admin),
    1. Start à Accessories à right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator. A Windows Elevation confirmation screen will pop up. Confirm the action OR alternatively just run CMD from Start àrun à cmd and it should run as admin
    2. The Command Administrator Prompt opens to something like the following- C:\Windows\system32>. If anything else change directory by typing this without quotes: “cd\windows\system32”
    1)     Now at the command prompt, which should be- C:\Windows\system32  unregister the vbscript.dll file from Windows by typing at the command prompt (without quotes) “regsvc32 /u vbscript32.dll” (This will un-register the VB Script dll with your computer. A confirmation window will appear after this)
    2)     Now we want to register it C:\Windows\system32 regsvr32 vbscript.dll (This registers VB Script with your computer -- a confirmation window will appear after this as well.)
    3)     Try rebooting and running your blackberry software install
Solution B) Everything on this site : This Blackbery Forum Post (great post, thanks! Hey, you might learn something here that will come in handy one day if it doesn’t help you now, I did)
Follow each step there, try rebooting and running your blackberry software install as indicated
Solution B.Longshot) If A and B don’t work, you can try a repair of vista using the recover cd (if you don’t have one go here: neoSmart (I downloaded and burned image with aShampoo dvd burning software, restart windows with DVD/CD in the drive, press F12 on boot (or whatever gets YOU into ‘setup’, not the BIOS, change boot first device to CD/DVD ROM. I used this and it works perfectly, just follow their directions on the site and pick the right version for your OS etc) be *VERY*CAREFUL to NOT wipe your drive and just do a REPAIR (can take an hour), again if you don’t know what you are doing, skip this one and move on.
What DID WORK for ME, is the following (SORRY FOR THE CAPS BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT *** DO NOT ASSUME THAT USING AN UNINSTALLER LIKE REVO WILL DO ALL OF THIS FOR YOU - THIS WAS MY MISTAKE from the beginning, 25 hours later I realized that YOU NEED TO DO THE UNINSTALL AND SOME MANUAL STEPS EVEN IF YOU SELECT THE MOST THOROUGH***)
This one, D, worked for me specifically:
Solution D) Uninstall the BlackBerry Desktop Software, preferably using REVO UNINSTALLER  go:  HERE to get Revo (CNET)
Use the Advanced uninstall option, thorough option, the last one down the list, this will notonly use blackberry’s built in uninstaller, but scan for remnants of the software on your drive and registry
When prompted select all and delete everything it finds, do not skip any steps, reboot, try re-installing the blackberry desktop software
You could try a similar type of uninstaller if you have one; however, I don’t recommend leaving it to using the control panel add/remove programs, I did not try this with that method
Solution D part 2) Once you have uninstalled and rebooted
    - Delete the Research In Motion Folders from the hard drive AND Registry
Browse to C:\program files\Research in Motion, delete this folder
    Click Start à Run.
Type Regedit, and then click OK. (Please be careful here, only do this if you have a good idea what you are doing, you can really mess things up here, go slow carefully please please please)
In Registry Editor, delete the Research In Motion folder located at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\
Delete the Research In Motion folder located at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\   (This key will supposedly be missing if you are removing Desktop Manager version 4.0)
Reboot, reinstall the Blackberry Software, issue SHOULD HOPEFULLY be resolved!! So there you have it. I am 99% sure one of those things will get you back on your feet....good luck,
    Good luck
I can be reached at 6packs at live dot com if you spot an error I can fix, otherwise please post to the forums!

  • Can't repair or uninstall Desktop Manager Software

I'm trying to uninstall Desktop Manager 5.0.1 ,  When I tried to uninstall using the typical Add/Remove Programs from Control Panel, it appears the following error:

Am experiencing the same problem.  I recently upgraded to Desktop Software 5.0.1 and somehow never properly uninstalled v4.2.  I now have both on my system and am getting an annoying Roxio Message, each time I start my computer, which only started after this upgrade.  I have tried repeatedly to uninstall version 4.2.  It goes thru the process, but at the end I get the following message:
Error 1316.A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\Blackberry Desktop Software's
I have complete Administrator authority, so that is not a reason.
The new 5.0 Desktop Software is working fine, but again, I think this Roxio pop up installer message is related to either not properly installing 4.2 or having multiple DM on my computer.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Given what you describe, I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything.
    1) Remove all device OS update packages from your PC (add/remove programs)
    2) Cleanly uninstall any and all versions of the RIM DTM software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported that there are more registry keys to remove than are discussed in that KB
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
You may further need to dig for and remove anything that is remotely Roxio...those can be somewhat hard to find at times.
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM DTM software:
    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
Choose the version that is newest and (if applicable) compatible with your PIM (if you are synchronizing via USB):
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
If you don't really need Media Manager, then don't grab the version with it.
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your device OS package from your carrier:
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    5) Install DTM to your PC
    6) Install (also to your PC), the device OS package
    7) Start the organizer configuration over:

  • Can't install Apple Remote Desktop 3.5.1 custom installer on Lion 10.7.3

Ever since Lion 10.7.3 was released, I've not been able to install the custom client installer package that I've made with Apple Remote Desktop 3.5.1.
The error I get is "Remote Desktop Client Update can't be installed on this disk. A newer version of this package is already installed".
I'm guessing this is to do with Apple releasing the ARD 3.5.2 client, but not releasing a new server.
Is there any way of me tweaking the custom installer, so this can be installed? Or do I have have to wait for ARD server to be upgraded to 3.5.2? :-|

I was able to download the ARD 3.5.2 Client and take the customisations from the generated custom client installer.
To do this you need to expand the Custom Installer to a directory somewhere (in this example I'll expand it to a directory on the desktop)
    pkgutil --expand CustomClientInstaller.pkg ~/Desktop/CustomClientInstaller
Inside the expanded package, there are 3 files which are appended with "_entries" which seem to contain the customisations that are specified during the package generation process. So, we need to copy these to a temporary location...
    cp ~/Desktop/CustomClientInstaller/RemoteDesktopClient.pkg/Scripts/Tools/*_entries ~/Desktop
Now, what we need to do is expand the ARD Client we just downloaded (3.5.2) and apply the customisations to it...
    pkgutil --expand RemoteDesktopClient.pkg ~/Desktop/RemoteDesktopClient
    cp ~/Desktop/*_entries ~/Desktop/RemoteDesktopClient/RemoteDesktopClient.pkg/Scripts/Tools
    pkgutil --flatten ~/Desktop/RemoteDesktopClient CustomRemoteDesktopClient.pkg
You should now have an up-to-date customised ARD client. Note that I have not fully tested all of the options, such as creating users. It may be necessary to look at this post if the newly customised ARD client has problems creating a new user.
    Hope that helps

Which I download and install. While installing, the installation just quits...
I have repeatedly tried to install, 11 times unto now. Tried restarting, etc.
Tried downloading the free trial as a non member, same result.
Tried as another account on my MBP, same result.
Who has a pointer as to what could solve this annoying error ? Someone at Adobe ?? Anyone else ?

  • Can't install Creative Cloud Desktop

    Hi all,
I try to install Creative Cloud Desktop but I have over and over again the same message: "Could not create /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync"
I used Creative Cloud Cleaner, re-installed, renamed folders: OOBE.OLD, OOBE_old, but I have always the same message showing up.
I use a macbook pro, running on Yoesmite.
    Thanks for your help,

    Hi Jack:
Check the permissions on your user library. To make it appear go to 'GO' then hold the 'alt key.' Your user library should show up. Then go to 'Application Support' to see the permissions hold the Ctrl and do a right click. Then go to 'Read info.' Check if your admin has 'read and write' selected. If not change it.
Do the same for the 'Adobe' folder (that you will find inside the Application Support.) Your admin should have 'read and write' permissions.
Hope it makes sense and help.
    Cheers

  • How can I install Apple Mobile Device Manager by itself

I have been having an issue with my new iPod touch where iTunes does not see the iPod and tells me it is missing some software. I know for a fact that the apple mobile device manager should be installing with the iTunes 7.5 download, but for some reason it is not installing on my machine. I used WinRAR to split apart the 7.5 installer file and have the Apple Mobile Device Support 1.1.2.23 file saved on my desktop. The problem now is that I can't figure out how to install the file.
The file type is a .MSI. I've done some searching and not found anything I could understand that would help me to install this file on my pc. Any suggestions?

i was having this problem with my iphone.......1st go into the control panel and then to uninstall programs and uninstall anything apple. once everything apple is uninstalled. go to www.apple.com and install the latest itunes. after the latest itunes is installed this should work. it worked just fine for my iphone. ps i had my iphone connected to my computer during the whole process.

  • Can't Install Creative Cloud Desktop on Mac OS X 10.7.5

If I try to install it on my default user, I get an error 13.  Specifically:
"cookies dir: cannot make folder / cookies: permission denied (error 13)"
If I try to install it on my Administrator user, I get an error A12E6 that says there's a problem with the installation.
I tried the solutions for both errors.  For the error 13, I ran terminal and did the following solution as posted in another thread by a staff member:
    chmod -N ~/library
chmod +a "everyone deny delete" ~/library
    Did nothing.
Then I tried popping over to my administrator account, and I did the following solution as posted in another thread:
    For MAC
Step 1: Go to /Application/Utilities (Rename Adobe Application Manager to Adobe Application Manager_old)
Step 2: Click on Go (Finder Menu)-> Go to folder-> ~/Library (Which is user Library)
In User Library go to -> Application Support -> Adobe and Rename OOBE to OOBE_old
After rename the above mentioned folders download the updated version of AAM from : http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4774
After installing AAM try to sign in it should work now.
This also did nothing.  What can I do to get this thing working?
    I'm running a Power Mac on OS X 10.7.5.

SamReveley279 can you please post a screen shot of the Error 13 which you are experiencing?
It does sound like from your description that you are facing a multitude of network failures.  To confirm you tried the steps listed in "Unknown Server Error" when you attempt to log in to Adobe Creative Cloud - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/unknown-server-error-launching-cc.html.  Please be aware that this issue was suppose to be resolved in later versions.  Often when Users experience this error, with the current version, it is because of a communication failure.
I would also recommend reviewing Sign in or activation errors | CS6, CS5.5 Subscriptions, CS6 Perpetual - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html.  Although the fact that you are able to initiate the download more points to a problem with the stability of the connection rather than the ability to connect.
