Can't Install a .Dist file extension ?

Hello there ,
I have downloaded a software that has a .DIST format .
I tried to download but  I recieve this note ...
" The operation couldn't be completed . (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1) . couldn't open  Distribution.Dist "
Note : I have repaired the disk and restaretd the Device . still no Luck !
I have downloaded TEXTMATE software , but still I didn't know how to use it .. a very complicated software that I don't think it could solve the problem .
Any recommendation ?
Regards,,,,

A corrupted file means a file that is in some way damaged. it could be damaged on the system you are trying to download from, it could be damaged while downloading or it could be damaged while being saved to your Mac.
You can try downloading it again sometimes that will clear the problem.
Also make sure you are downloading the file intended for Mac. I see that that company sells both Mac and PC versions of their software.

  • I can't install any dmg files

I can't install any dmg files and I can't find CoreService nor DiskImageMounter under Library order neither. I think they're missing.
    Please Help.

They should come up when you double click on the DMG file.
If you are getting a terminal windows when you double click on a DMG file then something has switched the Default program from Installer.app and or DiskImageMounter.app to terminal.
Right click on the DMG and select Get Info. In the windows that comes up find the Open with section then select DiskImageMounter.app and click Change All.
Both DiskImageMounter.app and Installer.app are in /System/Library/CoreServices. But that folder may be hidden. So you will need to use the Go Menu item "Go to Folder" and type in what I posted above to find it.

    Hi kensb!
I would recommend that you attempt to reinstall all of the programs and components of iTunes on your machine and reinstall everything again. It can be tricky to get everything uninstalled, so we have an article that can help you make sure you uninstall everything:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
Specifically, when it comes to uninstalling, you will want to uninstall applications in this order:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order. Then, restart your computer.
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended effects.
You will then want to follow the links in those articles to download the latest package of iTunes software for your computer and install again from there. Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

  • Can Firefox CS5 recognize custom file extensions as PNGs?

WHen you work with game skins you will have custom file extensions such as .scworld and .scskin that are really PNG files renamed. Does anyone know how to add these as recognizeable extensions in Firefox?

no, i am still dealing with this problem on both macs,
mac pro mid 2010 2,8 quad (24GB RAM) and my mbp 15" i7 (4GB RAM)
    where i installed Photoshop CS5.
on both macs, photoshop always saves files with capital letter file extensions (xxx.TIF or xxx.PSD)
thats very annoying, as i have to manually rename the file in the finder later.
and thats for all files i create.
i really wonder, could anyone from the adobe staff please comment if it is a bug
    or anything else?
    thanks!

  • We can fool DynamicFS by changing file extension

Dynamic File Services only detects file via extensions, rather then data type, e.g I have a policy which moves 'audio' and 'video' files to Secondary storage, the policy works only if files have proper extension, but if I rename songs.mp3 to songs.txt, policy wont work, i.e policy wont be able to move 'songs.txt' to Secondary path.
am I missing something, or the Dynamic File Services can only work with file extensions ?

No you are not missing something - whether the Filter Option for your
policy is File Patterns or File Types then it's the filename and/or
extension that dictates whether a particular file is moved.
Of course a user would, for your particular example, have to run the
Windows Media Player and then open songs.txt in order for it play
because if they renamed songs.txt back to songs.mp3 then the policy
might kick in and move the file.
Personally I'd say this is acceptable since examining the file content
would add an overhead to the process but if you think otherwise I'd
suggest logging an enhancement request via www.novell.com/rms.

  • HT201210 hello, can't install itunes because files are missing when downloaded, please help?

Hello,Please help me i had an update the other day.when i downloaded it ,it basically stuffed my whole itunes program.I am unable to access anything in relation to my itunes.I have uninstalled itunes several times with no joy.And always comes up missing files can't install.cant reinstall this great program and i am missing playing all of my music videos and music.Thankyou in this matter.I have windows vista home premium.

When I go to install itunes+quicktime it says "A newer version of quicktime is already installed. This installation cannot proceed while the newer version of quicktime is installed". Even though quicktime is not installed on my computer because I had uninstalled it. When I've tried to download quicktime by itself. There's a box that pop up's wanting the quicktime.msi install package or a alternate path. I found 2 quicktime.msi. One is from '08 version 7.4.5 the other from '10 version 7.6.9. When I've tried to repair the 7.6.9 it says "this action is only valid for products that are currently installed".
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25 2010. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I can not install the 'attach files more easily' facility in my yahoo email. Is this because I now have the latest version of Firefox? I had it on my previous version.

To send photos I need the 'attach files more easily' facility in my Yahoo email. After I recently upgraded my broadband so that I now get 37mb speed, Firefox (and Internet Explorer) started to 'not respond' so I un-installed it then re-installed it. I got the latest version of Firefox and now I can't get the facility back again. Have you got any suggestions? Yahoo have not been able to help.

I could only find this link, hoping it will work:
    Network.ftp.idleConnectionTimeout
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.ftp.idleConnectionTimeout
Check and tell if its working.

I have downloaded Oracle9iAS Release 1 version for my developement machine which runs on NT.
I have the 3 batch files (Disk1.bat, disk2.bat,disk3.bat) and the corresponding zip files. The instruction said i have to first run the batch files and then do the unzip.
When I run the batch files, the window flash very fast and did nothing at all. The zip files won't unzip. But i have downloaded them for hours. The error message says 'cant open file, it is an invalid archive, try download again.' I re-download them already and same result.
Please help and give me some hints.
Also, i want to ask if i only wanted to develop the Portal module, do i need a Oracle database?

So, after trying a couple more times, I decided to clean up all files installed by PSE8 installer: to find out these files, I launched Setup from Instruments (part of the Xcode suite). To my surprise, this time the installer went through without a glitch and PSE works perfectly... I don't think it has anything to do with Instruments, probably after the previous repeated failures some corrupted files were replaced. Or maybe it liked the song I'm playing now in iTunes better than the previous one...

  • Can't install a .mpkg file - a Security Preferences issue?

I'm having the  issue installiung a .mpkg file - it's an App from Pantone.
The message says "Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac Store and identified developers"
I went into the "get info" and made sure that "Installer" was selected under "Open With:" but that didn't fix it.

Hello, you must be on 10.8!???
By default Apple has changed the security settings to only allow installation of apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers. To change this permanently or temporarily go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. On the General Tab click the little lock in the lower left corner to unlock the general preference pane.

  • Why does Apple say that Numbers can open and save Excel files, when in actuality, it can only open .XLSX files and only Export to Excel (not save-as excel)?

When attempting to open .XLS files in Numbers, the format is not recognized. When the format is .XLSX, the format is recognized. Why is it this way? It's still much more common for folks to have the .XLS file format on their excel files. Why would Numbers not be backwards-compatible?
Additionally, to state in the benefits of this program that one can save to 'Excel' is a little misleading. You can't save to anything except .numbers. Sure, you can export to Excel (with file extension .XLS, I might add), but you can't save or save-as.
Does anyone else see the irony in being able to export to .XLS but not be able to open an .XLS?
There is something to be said for clarity.
You can't expect folks to have Numbers and Excel on their systems, so how else are they supposed to open .XLS files in Numbers?
And I don't need to see another advertisement for NeoOffice or OpenOffice here, thanks. I'd actually like Numbers to be a little more sensible.
    That is all.

When the advertisements were written, there was no Lion so we were able to Save As Excel.
At thiqs time there is no longer Save As command under Lion but the feature is always available.
When your editing task is ended, you are free to use this scheme:
    File > Duplicate
File > Save and in the dialog you will have the option save as Excel.
Numbers isn't and I hope that it will not become an Excel editor.
Its resources contain a flag defining it this way.
I posted several times a script editing this resource.

  • Hyperlink without adding file extension

I have created a website using iWeb and have several links on it to other files on my computer.  IWeb overrides the text I put in as the link and adds the file extension to it.  I have tried renaming the file without an extension but it is always put back by iWeb.  How can I make sure the file extension is not viewable on the web page?

Highlight the link URL and overwrite it using the Link inspector.
