Can't install a game??

Hi,
I bought myself an old game from my childhood to play on my Mac as it said it was compatable with PC, and MAC.
But trying to install it the message poped up saying.
"The Classic Environment is no longer supported"
Any ideas guys?? Any advice would be fab!!

As eww said, that computer isn't specifically made for gaming. To get advanced graphics in a game, your computer needs what is called a "discrete" graphics processor, or GPU. This means a seperate chip that processes graphics. In Apple laptops, these are only found in the 15" and 17" MacBook Pro. It is not common to find these in laptops in general that are not expensive and high-end. What you have in yours is an "on-board" or "integrated" GPU. This means that graphics processing is done by a small portion of your main processor (the Intel i5 board). This takes away a portion of primary prossessing and dedicates it to graphics. This works perfectly find in most scenarios, but video rendering, gaming, and 3-D graphics tend to suffer. Most high-end, modern games require discrete GPUs to run at full quality these days.
As far as running Windows 7 and Mac OS both, yes you absolutely can. If you install Windows 7 via Bootcamp (this would require you to have a Windows 7 CD), when you turn on your computer it will default to opening up in Mac OS. But if you hold down the Option key (bottom of the keyboard next to the Command button) while the computer is booting up, it will ask you if you want to open Windows or Mac OS.

None of the games currently sold on the iTunes Store are compatible with the Touch. In June, there is scheduled to be an update to the Touch software (at a cost) that will allow you to add applications. The iTunes Store will then be selling applications that can be loaded onto the Touch.

Macs generally can not run an older operating system than was available at the time of their last hardware change by model. That said, except for the educational iMac released last fall, all iMacs presently technically should be able at this point to get Snow Leopard installed on them if you call AppleCare and ask for the original installer discs.
EveryMac is an excellent resource for the release dates of new hardware changes by model. Compare those dates with the operating system version in question, and its update release dates. That will tell you what is the minimum operating system for the Mac in question.
July 20, 2011 Macs were the first not to include an installer disc. They use a restore partition to install the operating system that came with them, and the Mac App Store can update them to newer operating systems, if not the support downloads on Apple's website. Mountain Lion also makes updates only Mac App Store for Mountain Lion and newer.
10.4.11 was the last Mac OS X to include Classic on PowerPC Macs only.
PowerPC Macs from 2002 hardware vintage and earlier can boot into Mac OS 9, even if 10.5.8 is installed on them.
The exception to this rule were a few PowerMac G4s sold as new in 2003 that did not have Firewire 800, and iBook G3s still available in 2003 as new.
Prior to that, unless a Mac shipped with 9.2.0 or older, it could not use the 9.2.1 retail disc, and had to use the original installer discs to install 9 either to enable Classic, or booting into Mac OS 9.

Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. Trying to install addicting games into ipod and won't go. Plenty of memory....any ideas?

What happens when you try? Error message?
Are you purchasing the app on the iPod?
Are you syncing it to the iPod?
Do you have Restrictions set that would prevent installing the apps? Settings>General>Restrictions

Can't install a game for my daughter

I bought reader rabbit Personalized Kindergarten for my daughter and when I put in the disk I am unable to install it on my computer. It keeps giving me an error message of you cannot start because the classic enviorment is no longer supported. It is a new tape I just bought and says it is for Windows or MAC. I am not sure what I can do to make it work. If you have any advice I would be thrilled.

The game is not compatible w/your "current" OS system. "Classic" is OS 9.x Your MBP does not support that enviroment.
Suggest that you return the game. If the game is not updated to support SL, get your $$$ back.

I have an ipod nano 3th generation and I download games from iTunes Store and it doesn't syncronice to my ipod... every games says in the requirement for iPhone or Ipod Touch it's not fair that any games are compatible with 3th generation iPod now.

You have to make sure your games from the Games section of the iTunes Store and not on the App Store as these games are for iPod touch and iPhone only.

MS-8216S can't install some games in XP

I still have the problem even before and after reinstalling XP and updating the Firmware using Live Update 3. I than went back ME and had NO problems. I am very disappointed.

As a matter of fact, I do have a few ideas in regards to you not being able to download/install your copy of LOTR War in the North. The .BIN files you speak of are usually images (copies) of the disks you’d normally receive when buying the physical game. However, there should also be a .EXE file that installs said .BIN files.
With your download, did you by chance also receive a .EXE installation file? I contacted our Digital Operations team and they said the .EXE file should be present. However, they made a few slight adjustments and asked that you re-download the game files if the .EXE isn’t present in your download folder.
