Can't Install Adobe flashplayer on my powerbook G4. Running on Ubuntu.

I've tried downloaded the Ubuntu version and even the Linux versions and windows versions. It's an apple PowerBook G4, 2006 model. What I keep getting is "Error: Wrong architecture 'i386'" I'm pretty sure it's Ubuntu 8.04. Nothing seems to be working, and I'm getting rather annoyed at this point. Can anyone help? My dad has Macintosh software, so he'd be able to get me running on that, if that'll help.

Powerbook G4 is a PowerPC chip.  Our Linux players only support Intel 386.

    Hi Pat,
Thank you so much for your reply.  Yes I am the Administrator. Nothing worked until I went into my security and disabled my firewall and my security tab.  Then Flash Player 12 downloaded without a hitch.  Then I quickly re-enabled both my firewall and security settings.   I have no idea why it worked but it did.
Thank you so much for your assistance!!
I wish you a great week!
    Sincerely,

  • Can't install Adobe Flashplayer 11. Uninstalled old version. enabled Java. Allowed cookies. Install button grey.

Can anyone help me with this problem of installing Adobe Flashdrive 11, the latest version ? I'm bashing my head against the wall. Started when iPhoto would not load to Facebook and was advised it could be Flashplayer update after troubleshooting other options including deleting extraneous iPhoto files. I uninstalled older version, enabled Java, allowed cookies, downloaded installer but when I try to download it, the install button is grey and won't work. (This is, coindcidentally the same problem that suddenly began today with iPhoto which always worked fine before....grey button for "publish") It is ALWAYS a problem installing Adobe anything, and usually this same problem. All my software updates are current. Now I have NO Flashplayer and can't use YouTube at all, much less iPhoto.

Also, sounds like others are having this problem. Read other posts, didn't find an answer. OBVIOUSLY did not solve my problem. No delete ? First time here, sorry.

  • Can't install Adobe Flashplayer 11

Tried several times to install Adobe Flash Player 11.  Although I get a message that it is installed, it is not.  I have "unchecked" the box for installing the Google Chrome toolbar.  Must I leave this checked?

What OS are you running?  I had problems on Mac OS just now.  If you are too, it kept prompting me to quite Safari.  It wasn't running. What I ended up doing was quiting the installer.  It will launch Safari again to report your experiance.  Quit Safari (don't merely close the active Safari window leaving the Safari process running).
I went to Activity Montitor (search for it in Spotlight, or it's in your Applications/Utilities folder.  Change the few from Windowed Processes to All Processes and locate or just search in Activity Monitor for processes called WebKitPlugInAgent and/or WebProcess and quit either or both that may be running. The installation completed after that.
If you're stuck with a prompt to quite Dashboard though before Safari, do the same thing as above for Safari, and search for any process named Dashboard and quit it.  It will immediately open a new process of the same name, but that's OK, it will then allow the Adobe installer to move on.

  • How can i get adobe flashplayer onto my powerbook g4?

So i have the powebok g4 and i would like to watch youtube videos and other videos and online sites that require an upgrade of adobe flash player. However I cant seem to find out how to do it. I went to Adobe.com it didnt help. Problem i am getting is since my laptop isnt a intel based laptop, i can not get the adobe. What can i do? can someone help me please?! Thank you.

The last version that works with PowerPC Macs running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or later is Flash Player 10.1 (specifically 10.1.102.64).  I have it on my Power Mac G5.
    You can find it here
         http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
in a download of "archived" Flash Player versions
On that web page, look down the list of downloads.  The one you want is
         (Released 11/04/2010)  Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and 9.0.289.0 (126 MB)
    Within this download, find
         Flash Player 10.1.102.64
              10_1r102_64
                   flashplayer10_1r102_64_ub_mac.dmg
That should be the installer you need.
NOTE:  Depending on the performance capability of your G4 Mac, playing Flash-based video content, especially "HD" content, may be difficult.

  • Can I Install Windows XP on a Powerbook G4  running on OsX Leopard?

I have a Powerbook powerpc G4, that is running on OS X Leopard v10.5.8 and a 1.25 GHz Processor.
I wanted to Install Windows XP on it, but bootcamp does not show anywhere in the computer. I also purchased VMWare to install and it will not install because it says it is not compatible with the "Architecture". what does that mean? Is it going to be impossible to install windows XP on this computer?
I would appreciate any help or any suggestions from anyone.
    Thank you.

I wanted to Install Windows XP on it, but bootcamp does not show anywhere in the computer.
Boot Camp is only for Intel Macs. You need to use Virtual PC or the Q emulator to run Windows in emulation on a PowerPC Mac. There is no way of booting into Windows on your computer.
