Can't install any new apps or updates

I can't get Apple Software Update to work, it says "Fatal error during installation". If I try an install Adobe Reader, it gets to the end, then says it was interrupted and cancels the install. Any idea how I can fix this?
Thanks
Joe Mac

Have you tried deleting the apps in question? Tap and hold until they wiggle, then tap the X to delete. Next try re-downloading them, one at a time.

I am very disappointed that I spent a lot of $$; now Apple wants me to spend $$ again to get a new one. As I mentioned, I am pretty upset. Does anyone know if there's a work around?

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.

  • Problems with ios7; I can not download any new App

In general, I feel the new ios7 makes my ipod 5 slow, it has had a couple of problems, most of them minor or have a simple solution, or can be ignored while they fix it... what I can not ignore is that I can not download ANY new App...
I have been able to update a couple of them, though they have been very slow, now when I try to download something new, it seems like it'll work, but it never asks for my password as it used to and it never appears in the screen as downloading or anything. It is like if they'd just get stuck and waiting for it to react...
¿anyone else has had this problem? ¿advice? ¿solutions?

You will need to connect the iPad to the computer you normally sync with, click on the name of your iPad under DEVICES in iTunes, move right to the Summary tab and click on Update. It may ask you if you want to Update prior to getting to the summary tab, say yes.

  • I have a 3rd generation iPod and I cannot download or install any new apps. This started a few weeks ago.   I have plenty of space, it's very frustrating not to be able to get any apps! Please help?

Please help,  I cannot get any apps free or bought, I am able to update just fine and, I can use the apps I already have with no problem.  But to be able to install an app. ie, new game recommended by app I already own, is impossible. A few weeks now I have been unable to get any new apps.  Why is this occuring and can there be something I can do to fox this without upgrading to 4.0.

    Try resetting the device.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • About a week ago I did a software update on my iPad, but I can't delete any apps, and it won't let me purchase or install any new apps either, what can i do??

Hi there, a week or so ago I did the software update for iOS 7.1.1, but since then, i can't seem to install new apps from the app store, and I can't delete any of my apps. I have already tried to reboot my iPad, i have removed my Apple ID, then did the reboot, and logged in again with the Apple ID, but still no change.
What can I do? I was thinking maybe the update didn't install correctly, and that I should try to reinstall it again, but I'm new to the iPad and it's software so I don't even know if it's possible...

    Hi,
Thank you for your reply, I did go to my general settings, but for some odd reason I don't have a restrictions setting, or a reset setting. I thought I could reset all the setting to see if it could be that, but as I said there aren't any.
My husband also has the iPad 2, and also did the software update and hasn't had any problems at all. I took both iPad's and compared the settings thinking maybe there could be a setting that could have been changed when the update was done.

  • HT204266 Anyone else having problem with updates?  My apps won't update and can't download any new apps.

My phone won't update the apps or let me download any new ones. Been going on for few days now.

Many developers are releasing updates today because tomorrow Apple is shutting down iTunes Connect (the developer backend to iTunes) for the holidays. This could be affecting things, but I doubt it.
You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears. Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • I had to get a replacement Iphone 4s and the apps that are for free, it keeps asking me for my info on my debit card. I can't install any free apps such as Facebook or facebook messenger, or even instagram.  is it because it's on a new iphone.

none of my frre apps can be installed. is it because I have a replacement phone?

Are you trying to install an iCloud backup?  If so, this is a standard step before your apps will be redownloaded.  (It authenticates your iTunes account on the new phone.)  Just provide the information being requested.

  • I had restore my ipad demo, but how come it can not to install any new apps?

before i restore my ipad demo, it can install many apps, but just can not to remove it all. so i try to restore it, ok, after i done, and try to install new apps, but it dont have a button like "free" and "install", how come??

Does it have an icon of a cloud with a down arrow through it? If you've already purchased the app, you don't have to buy it again. The cloud icon means that it's already been purchased and is now stored in the cloud, in your iTunes account. Tap the cloud icon to download it to your device.
If you indeed have a store demo unit, then I wouldn't have a clue if what I mentioned above does not answer your question.

  • Can't Install any CS6 Apps using Application Manager

    Hi,
I have a Mac Mini (mid July 2011) running OSX Lion (10.7.4) and a new Creative Cloud subscription but I'm having real problems when I try to install any creative suite application using Adobe Application Manager. AAM downloads the app and tries to install it but the result is always the same...
The installation image mounts on the desktop, AAM says 'Installing' then the installation image disappears from the desktop and AAM gives the message 'Installation Failed'. The error report is always the same for every app. Here is an example from trying to install Adobe Acrobat X Pro:
    Exit Code: 7
Please see specific errors and warnings below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR: DW050 ...
    -------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
    - 0 fatal error(s), 4 error(s), 0 warning(s)
ERROR: DW050: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat Professional: Install failed
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat Professional: Install failed
ERROR: DW050:  - Suite Shared Configuration CS6: Skipped due to driver payload failure
ERROR: DW050:  - Acrobat X Pro : Skipped due to driver payload failure
I get the same type of error for any app that I try to install.
It's driving me crazy. I also have a MacBook (early 2009) running Snow Leopard and I have no problems installing apps from Creative Cloud onto that machine. I just can't get anything to install on the Mac Mini - I've tried running the Creative Suite Cleaning Tool but this didn't help.
    I'm using AAM Version 6.2.77
Can anyone shed any light on this?
    Many thanks,
    John.

Jeff, many thanks for your reply. Unfortunately even trying to install one of the trial versions (Photoshop CS6 for example) didn't work as this relied on the Adobe Download Manager which just kept causing my machine to freeze.
I tried various things including uninstalling and re-installing various bits and pieces like the download manager, Adobe AIR, FlashPlayer, etc. But nothing would work.
In the end I had to resort to a completey clean install of my operating system which has now resolved the issue (although I still had a few teething troubles with the AAM).
    Hopefully the problem won't re-appear.
    Thanks,
    John.

  • Cannot install any new apps due to HD not being recognised as a volume

    Hi there,
I've been trying to install several new applications for a while now, and after the license agreement screen, the option to select the HD as destination is skipped (the HD isn't even shown as an option) and I immediately get the message saying that there isn't enough free space on the selected volume "null".
It's clearly not a space issue as I have 20GB free.
I was on the phone to apple care for an hour and we repaired disk permissions and the disk verifies fine (from the installation CD), so I have no idea what is wrong.
I'm just installing with the .dmg files on the desktop, and opening the disks from there. This has always worked in the past, as the applications are then transferred to the applications folder. I've even tried installing from there too, to no avail.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Lauren

I see you've done some of this already, but offer the full route anyway, maybe you can start with the Safe Boot part...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.
An Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc...
