Can't install Appfabric as a prerequisite for Share Point

Hello,
I'm working on a server with Microsoft Server 2012 R2, trying to install Appfabric because it is a prerequisite for Share Point. In the results of the Appfabric installation wizard, all of the selected components, Hosting Services, Cache Client, and
Hosting Administration all failed to install.

Can't install a font I need for work - please help! 10.4 ={

Hello,
So I am trying to install this font on my work computer, which is old and has os x 10.4.11 (tiger?). I have downloaded the TTF file onto the desktop. When I double click to install it, it says I need to choose an application and none of them I tried will work. I have a brand new macbook myself and downloaded the same font - worked fine because I could put it right into font book.
The problem here is that I cannot find font book anywhere on this computer and have not found any helpful discussions on how to re-install it or about different ways to get this font downloaded and usable. I have tried everything I can think of. I would just make these damned brochures on my own computer, but then they won't convert to this one.
Anyways, super frustrated - any advice/places to get font book/or something else I could use would really help. I don't even care if it's a round-about way of doing it, I just NEED this font!!

Is the font compatible w/Tiger?
The Font Book is inside the Applications folder. If it is not there, use Spotlight to search for it. If Spotlight cannot find it, you can custom install Font Book directly from the system DVD that originally came w/your MBP. Use the custom install option. It should be inside the Bundled Software folder. If not, there, it will be inside the Applications folder.

Can't install canon pixma mp 980 for wireless printing

I've installed the canon pixma software for the mp 980 and ran the connection test and got a very good connection. When I try to add the printer , I've clicked on "More Printers" and it scanned to look for drivers and didn't come back with any results. I can't get the printer to show up in the list of available printers.
My Macbook is connected to the LAN wirelessly and the printer has been set up to print wirelessly. I have a Windows machine on the network that can print to the printer.
Any suggestions?

It could be a WPA key issue but I have never had such a problem with my MP980 to confirm this. You could try temporarily disabling the encryption and then seeing if the printer can be found. Note that you will have to reconnect the printer via USB to set the changes in the machine.
If disabling the encryption does not help, then I would ensure that you can ping the IP address of the MP980. If you don't get a reply, then it would indicate that something went wrong with the network setup and this is why the device is not seen in the More Printers > Canon IJ Network menu.
If you do get a response, then there could be something blocking the advertising of the printer, such as the internal firewall of the Mac. This has to be set to 'Allow all incoming connections' for the printer to be seen.

Under the version path there are no files, only the language folder (I have version 8) and after version 6 they are not used for preferences. So I used the four keys option (Cmd+Ctrl+Alt/Opt+Shift) to reset the preferences direct after starting Indesign. This works fine and helps

Can't install Security Update 2012-003 for Leopard

I can't install neither Security Update 2012-003 nor Flashback Removal Update. The installer says the software cannot be installed on my machine. I am on a G5 (PPC) iMac running OSX 10.5.8. What's going wrong? By the way, automatic software update did not find any updates for me. I had to download the updates manually from Apple's software support page.

There is no update or removal tool for PPC machines because Flashback won't run or even install on them.
You should still disable Java in your browsers as some other malware may come along that will work.

Can't install any version of Safari for my Dad

I'm visiting my dad, and trying to get Safari installed for him. Somehow he managed to trash it - we're not sure how. Now I can't install any version of Safari. 1.x is too old. He's running OSX10.4.10 so 2.0.1 doesn't work either. I really don't even want to put 3 on here - he's a very basic user and doesn't need beta headaches.
The only disks we have are the system disks ... do I have to reinstall an old version of system to get Safari working for him?

Have a look at this Apple article for installing other software, including Safari, from the Tiger DVD - see the section titled More custom reinstallation options with Mac OS X 10.4.
Steps to take in addition to the Apple article:
Move the Safari.pkg file in the HD>Library>Receipts folder to the trash.
As a precaution, prior to reinstalling Safari, move the Safari Folder, found in the User Library to the Desktop. It has the personal bookmarks, history etc. Once the reinstall is completed, move the folder back to its original location writing over the newly created folder.
Remember too, the version of Safari you install will be specific to the Version on the installer DVD. Therefore, either run Software Update and see if Safari updates appear. If not, reapply the 10.4.10 combined update to bring Safari up to the current version.
Repair permissions via Disk Utility in your Utilities folder when you are finished.

How to decide implementation way for share point site ?

I am developing new share point site where i want to manage more hierarchical data with its own business requirements and flows.
lets assume following scenario
there are multiple companies at very top level
Every company contains multiple departments
and every department have multiple groups (group of working people)
I want to manage communication between each group within each company, and no two group from two diff companies should interact with each other.
For this implement what will be the better approach for site design ? and how can i implement such a hierarchical structure ?
As i am new to share point , any help will be appreciable.

Create a separate site collection for each company. For every department you can have a sub site. You can create groups within the sub site.
Once you separate the each company details in a separate site collection you will have more control over the security.

Formula for Share Point

Hi guys,
I have 2 problems with the Formulas and calculations in Share Point.
1. I want to calculate time, that has been used for work on a location, if I use the preconfigured date/time calculation and use the formula: End Time - Start Time, the hours are ok, but the date is always 31.12.1899, and dont get it why.
Now I have used the formula =TEXT(([End Time] - [Start Time]); "hh:mm"), the time is calculated and displayed ok, but if I do it for more than 24 hours, then those 24 hours are not included in the result. Can some help me with that?
I have tried many other formulas, but there is always a sintax error:
=CONCATENATE(IF(INT(([End Time]-[Start Time])*24)>1,INT(([End Time]-[Start Time])*24)&" hours",IF(INT(([End Time]-[Start Time])*24)=1,INT(([End Time]-[Start Time])*24)&" hour","")),IF(MINUTE([End Time]-[Start

I have tried that formula above, and translate it to german (I thought that could be the problem) because we use a german Share Point version. But not in german not in the englisch one works. I always get "syntax" error and thats it.
I have put in the right values instead of "end and start" time.
2. I to have the Weeks Numbers to be seen in the tasks overview. So when I put in the starting date, the Week number in the year should be displayed.
I used the following code, but it hasn't work at all:
=IF(Datum<>"",(ROUND((Datum-DATE(YEAR(Datum+3-MOD(Datum-2,7)),1,MOD(-2,7)-9))/7,0)),"")
But it also comes the syntax error message.
I would be very glad if anyone could help me with those formulas.

I can't start DHCP Service or access Xserve share points from pc's

When I try to start the service I get an error message:
CANNOTSTART_SERVICEERR
I'm not sure what I'm looking for here.
I have SMB services running and I can see and access files on pc's and macs on the network from macs, but I can't access the Xserve shares from pc's.
Do SMB and DHCP services work together in some way?
This weekend we had a power outage and I had to repropogate permissions on all share points so that certain macs could read and write.
The Xserve restarted like it should but is there something I need to set to keep permissions after a power outage?
I have the server set up as a standalone server and it's the only one on the network. And I have permissions set so that everyone has read/write permissions.
I'm using a cable modem to a Linksys router to multiple switches.
Any ideas?
