remove your caps database. this shows the location for cs3. make the obvious changes for cs5.

Jonkpirateboy did you migrate/transfer/copy your CS5.5 application to this new Mac?
If so then please utilize the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder. You will then want to run the CC Cleaner Tool located at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
Finally if you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available for download at Download CS5.5 products.

I have CS5.5 Web Premium for Mac. I have been using it on my old PowerBook on Yosemite for several months. I just purchased a new PowerBook with Yosemite and cannot get the software to install. I purchased an external drive, LG Portable DVD Writer. I first thought that this was the failure point, but, since then, I was about to install MS Office. Many times the CD spins insanely without allowing me to install. However three times now, I've made it to the point just passed entering the ID, which was successful (I have a screenshot). I get to a point of the Installation Status that reports: Your installation encountered errors. Please try restarting your system and installing again. Inconsistency in the installer database. Please restart your computer and install again. After determining that would not resolve the problem, I began doing a little research and found that there was an Exit 15 error in the error log. I then downloaded the CS Cleaner Tool. The application returned this message: The following installations were found on your system. The dialog box was empty. I then decided to try to download the application this morning while I was on a dog walk. It appears that the file downloaded and I was able to initiate the installation. However, shortly after that, I can an error message stating that it has timed out. I tried again to install it from the finder, but, it does nothing. I am out of ideas! Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did that today, and got the exact same error message.
This is what I've tried now..
Copying installation files to desktop and installing.
Downloading installation files to desktop.
Any other ideas? It seems as though there is some kind of "conflict" where old files need to be removed. However, my earlier assessment found that those files do not exist, since nothing is actually installed yet.

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 on Windows 8 it says "The Installer Database is corrupt"

I am trying to install Dreamweaver CS3 on my new Windows 8 PC and when I run SETUP.EXE it says "The Installer Database is corrupt" on both my original CD and backup I made.

This will most likely never work. CS3 wasn't even fit for Win 7. Delete the caps.db in the respective caps folder (info here) and then take the usual steps of running as admin, turning off UAC and security tools and possibly using compatibility modes, but as I said, be prepared that this may be futile and you spend a Sunday afternoon without achieving anything...

Tried installing same the DVD on a new iMac but the above error keeps popping up all the time.
Tried loading the same DVD on a macbook pro laptop all works fine, don't require the program on the macbook pro but why doesn't it install on the brand new iMac?

I would prefer to have all movie files open automatically using my Pro version. Any suggestions? When I trashed the QT player 10 and clicked on the .3g2 movie file, it didn't automatically open with QT 7 Pro. Instead a window opened wanting to convert the file to Flash. I don't want that to happen.

Why? do you use FCP-X? that will benefit from two. Also gaming in Windows where you can use Crossfire
You have two 6-pin power feeds so you will need a small 450W PSU - those come with two 8-pin and two 6-pin.
Those can often fit in the optical drive bay and cost $25-75 range.
"500W" is NOT for the card! that is the minimum PC PSU only!
when buying look for card that uses only two 6-pin and not an 8-pin power.
75W for the PCIe slot, and 150W from two 6-pin cables, most GPUs fall into the 200-250W at maximum stress levels8-pin is basically two 6-pins and 150W feed

Keep in mind that the Mac Pro tower can't feed enough power to the dual 980s, dual 290Xs, or dual 7950s.
We used an auxillary power supply to compensate.

The Radeon R9 280X we used was 'un-flashed.' It booted OS X fine but there was no startup screen. Also, when we checked the speed of CPU-to-PCIe-to-CPU communication, it appeared to be running in PCIe 1.0 mode instead of PCIe 2.0. You can do it either using Boot Camp or by running a virtual machine, such as Parallels Desktop (which I use) or VMFusion. I prefer the VM method, as I don't have to reboot using the handful of Windows applications that I use. And I can access my Windows apps just as I do my Mac apps - copy and paste between them, etc.
I just upgraded from Parallels 7 to 8 and I'm quite happy with it, running Mountain Lion on a late 2011 MBP with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. I also have a 27" Apple Thunderbolt Display and there are no problems with video drivers, etc.
If I were you - unless I needed every inch of performance that running Boot Camp can bring - I'd go with a VM to run Windows. I can attest to the functionality of Parallels - perhaps others with experience with other VMs will chime in.

yes you need the updates and patches.
Only some of the drivers that Windows will automatically install at times
and always make sure to insure it is using restore points
do all the maintenance andsuch as normal
use MS Security Essentials for AV is really top notch
Clean disk space
Use WinClone new program to inisure you have a restore image

Windows has a software updater built into Windows and when you install the Boot Camp drivers then it will install an Apple software updater also. I believe Windows is set to automatically download and install your updates as does the Apple software Updater. They both will update the individual files it needs to periodically.
"Microsoft updates" and "Windows updates" are basically the same thing in Windows. Are you talking about the "Windows support software" when downloading from Boot Camp Assistant? Apple installs a software updater for it's Boot Camp drivers in Windows 7 so you can do it manually or automatically.
The "Hot Fix" your referring to is only for certain motherboards built from other Windows only computer manufacturers and does NOT pertain to any Apple computers.
