Can't Install CS2 Properly on WXP SP3

Hi All,
I recently bought Windows 7 and Adobe CS4 through my school's bookstore, well a few months ago. Before wiping out my XP install I made sure to do the "de-activiation" and for good measure, I even uninstalled CS2 (not sure if I really needed to but I did)... I installed Win7 (formatting the hdd) and CS4 and that is all working great... Now, a few months later, I'm attempting to install my old CS2 install on another computer of mine (WXP SP3). When I start the install, everything seems to work as expected until it shows the progress bar where it shows the progress of the install... Disc 1 finishes in about 2 seconds and prompts me for disc 2, again, 2 seconds later prompts me for disc 3, and finally again 2 seconds later prompts me for disc 4. Nothing is getting installed except for the "shared components"...
Why is it doing this? and what can I do to troubleshoot this?
I've copied all four discs to a folder on C: and tried the install from thier with the same results (minus the prompting for discs)...
Thanks for your help,
Justin

Michael - I've purchased full licenses of both CS2 (several years ago) and CS4 (just a few months ago) from my college bookstore. It is not an upgrade. It is a full academic license. I am attempting to install CS2 on another computer I own. I am not violating any terms of service. So now back to my problem.
No Adobe products (except Adobe reader) or trials have been installed on this computer...
I've search through the Adobe KB and have tried the following with no success...
1) My specific problem is mention in this "Troubleshoot installation problems (Adobe Creative Suite 2.x on Mac OS X)" document... But I'm not using Mac OS... so this leads me to believe that this is a known issue by Adobe???
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331299.html
2) The windows equivilant document "Troubleshoot installation problems (Adobe Creative Suite 2.x on Windows)" doesn't mention my specific problem, but I walked through all the steps anyways, but nothing resolved this issue.
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331298.html
3) Also linked in the above KB article is a "Manually remove Adobe Creative Suite 2.x (Windows)" document that I've followed but none of the folders, files, or registry entries that this documents says to remove exist on my computer...
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/331/331300.html
Has anyone run into this issue with CS2 running through the entire install in a matter of seconds? and/or anyone have some troubleshooting steps that I could try next???
Thank You for your help,
Justin

Just bought mac 10.8.4 I have cs5extended but can't install cs2 copy to upgrade my cs5extended copy, help any idea's please :-)

You can install CS5 directly on your computer.  You will be asked to enter an eligible serial number during the installation process.  This is when you will want to enter the CS2 serial number.

  • Can't Install CS2, Tried just PhotoshopCS2 and got invalid serial #

Desperate for help! I have CS2. My computer crashed. I bought a mini laptop and discovered I can't install the suite because the screen resolution isn't high enough (the highest I can go is 1024x600). Since all I really need on this computer is Photoshop, I went into the installation disc to install only that program. When it asked for my serial#, I entered the serial for the CS2, and the setup says it's an invalid serial #. I called support, and she confirmed there's nothing wrong with my serial #, and my product is properly registered. Can anyone assist me with this?
I tried using a larger monitor on my laptop, but the system won't recognize it without some piece of equipment I do not have. I understand that the serial # on my box is for the bundle CS2, where can I find the product serial # for just the PhotoshopCS2 which is part of my bundle?
    Help!
    Thanks in advance,
    Chelle

It won't let me get that far in the Suite installation. When the installation pops up, I click on the Suite and that's when it blocks me telling me that my screen resolution isn't high enough. I can't get to the screen that allows me to choose between complete and custom installation.

  • Can't  install CS2 on laptop with Elements 11 already installed.

I'm taking a workshop that requires Photoshop. I use Elements 11 currently. I bought a new laptop and installed my Elements with no problem. When I went to install CS2 it says it can't find any files with CS5. My question is there a way to install CS2 without uninstalling my Elements 11? My computer lady says it's quit involved removing all parts of Photoshop from files. I went with an older version of Photoshop because I plan on only using the CS2 for this workshop and going back to Elements afterwards. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My new system is Windows 8.1

At least for Photoshop, CS (1) runs as does CS2 and CS 3 on my macs. I still have CS2 as Genuine Fractals doesn't work with CS3 without upgrading and I don't feel like paying for that so I run 2 to use it for scaling. Adobe was pretty clear on compatibility or not and you could have chosen not to install it based on their comments.
You can install OSX "backwards" with the original install disk for your machine or a retail install disk - it would have to be a clean install of course not an A&I or upgrade.
I retained Tiger with a clone backup on all three macs , apparently you did not think to make a backup first.
Why don't you just partition a smallish part of the drive to accommodate a basic Tiger installation and install CS2 on that and just boot into it when required? You can repartition non destructively now. That is probably the fastest and simplest way to run dual OS rather that reverting everything to Tiger. Or use an external FW disk and install Tiger to that and boot from it as needed. No different than Boot Camp, to use Windows when needed.

  • Can't install CS2 Suite when CS5 is present?

I'm not sure where the problem is, but I am trying to re-install full, fresh CS2 Suite (on 10.6.4/Intel MPB).
I have bits and pieces of CS2, CS4, and CS5 on the machine currently.
When I try to install CS2, all the options are greyed out, except Photoshop. I can't do a standard install either, only custom.
    See:   http://bayimg.com/PaNomAaCe
I don't think this is a Snow Leopard problem, if I boot into 10.5 (Leopard), I get the same problem.
Its been a while since I needed to install older versions while current versions are present, and I seem to remember issues, but I am at a loss on this one.
    Any help or ideas?

  • Can't install CS2 on my new machine!!!!

I have recently upgraded my machine. I'm running windowsXP 64-bit. I have sucessfully installed cs1 and all programs work. As I install cs2, the upgrade, I get to the "installation location" at the very beginning of the process I get this error message:
"THE PATH YOU SELECTED FOR INSTALLATION CONTAINS UNSUPPORTED CHARACTERS. PLEASE CHOOSE A DIFFERENT FOLDER FOR INSTALLATION"
I have tried to redirect to a different location but I continue to get the same error message.

If no version is compatible than why can I run CS1?
From what my I.T. guy told me at the office is that windowXP 64 bit
has a folder to run the 32-bit programs. And that is what they are using at our office.
Also I had CS2 installed on here but it was giving me an error "invalid username/serial
numer" and it would shut down. I had to format my hard drive, not because of that error,
and figured i would be able to reinstall CS2 and just get the "invalid username/serial number"
error fixed. unfortunatly though now i can't even get it installed.

  • How can I install CS2 on my new Mac?

I gave my ibook to a woman headed for an orphanage in Africa. Before I gave it to her, I asked the tech guy to take off all applications, which he did. I now want to intall CS2 on my new comptuer, a 10.5.7 laptop.  I put in the first disk and clicked install. All went well. The blue line went along to the end of C1, which I took to mean that the first disk as installed. Then I was directed to insert the second disk, which I did. It would not install. I had only the options to resume or quit. When I hit resume, I was only taken back to the window that offered me the options of resume of quit. Finally I hit quit. I tried putting in the second disk again. But I cannot proceed with the installation.
Is there something I can do to move forward? I'm missing the opportunity to work on my graphics in Photoshop.
    Can anyone help, please?
    Thanks,
    Audrey

Thank you, Bob. It 's not the answer I wanted, but given what happens when I try to install, it's likely the correct one.
PS This was a Mac version purchased in a Mac outlet.

  • I uninstalled acrobat 7.x and chose to save license info.  Now I can't install CS2.  How can I uninstall license info?

    OK,
I bought Acrobat 7 quite a few years ago, but it cost me $450.  I believe I should be able to keep using it or at least the alternative (CS2 ?)
So I went through the instructions to remove Acrobat 7 from my computer (Win7) and when it asked if I wanted to save the License information I clicked yes.......I think that was a big mistake, because later I downloaded CS2 and the installer won't work.
Error Message:  Error 1310. Error writing to the file: C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Acrobat7.0\AcroPDF.DEU.  Verify that you have access to that directory.       abort      retry     ignore
I believe I have to remove the Acrobat 7.0 license information from my system, but I don't have the abilities to do it.  I have attempted changing permissions on the folders, but no avail.
Can someone please help me?  It seems that Adobe no longer supports me in any other way than this community.
    Thanks
    Curtis

That message doesn't suggest to me anything about licenses. Rather it does suggest a problem with permissions on that folder and the user you are using to install. Can you create files in C:\Program Files(x86)\Adobe\Acrobat7.0?

  • Can't install PP properly

    Hello all.
I started this discussion a couple of weeks ago and am now getting back to solving my problem. I've been working right through with the problems and can't stand it anymore.

Is there a manual unistall tool for PP CS4? Is the problem that things are being left behind after uninstalling from the control panel?
Also, when I look at my Adobe folders, I see that my drive is loaded with cache files from projects over the last year? Can they be deleted? There are cfa and pek, etc. files. The folder is over 50 gig at this point. Perhaps that's preventing a clean install?
Thanks in advance for your help and time.
    Regards,
    Jessica

    Ok,
I went to uninstall and PP did NOT appear in the add remove program list. I guess because it never installed properly??
So, I installed MS cleaner and then installed Win CS4 clean and reinstalled Premiere. It installed just fine, but, won't boot up. I get the Premiere Pro purple box and then I get this error message:
Adobe Premiere Pro was unable to communicate with the process "ImporterProcessServer,"
I rebooted and still got that message.
I unistalled PP - this time it appeared in the Add/Remove list and reinstalled it. (didn't run the registry cleaner this time) and I'm getting the same error message.
What is going on? Any ideas??
    Thanks in advance,
    Jessica

    CS2 Premium
I upgraded my windows from 2000 to XP. Now I am trying to reload CS2 from CD software. This is the 2nd time I have attempted to reload CS2 on an upgraded machine. Both times (different computers) after hitting the install CS button, a message comes up about the minimum requirements needed for loading the software. The only way out of that window is to hit exit installation. The installation process is stuck in a loop and I can't continue with the installation after
the requirement window comes up. The computer has more than the needed requirements. The software worked fine with Win 2000, but can't get it reloaded with Win XP.
    Any suggestions out there?

What is wrong with your system is that you have an old CPU (AMD Sempron 2500+, 1.75GHz) without support for SSE2 instruction set. Skype 7.6/7.7 version will crash on such a system, but Skype 7.5 may work. http://community.skype.com/t5/Windows-desktop-client/Cannot-install-Skype/m-p/4039905#M355091

  • I can't install sdk properly

    Hi all
I am absolutely new to java and I have been trying to install jdk1.3.1.04. I go through all the steps to install it but when I use javac it gives a message " bad command or file name" what is happening?
It is installed in C:\sdk1.3.1.04 directory. I changed the autoexec.bat file to read: SET PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND;C:\JAVA\BIN; as I understand it should be. The prompt starts at C:\Windows> , I changed the directory to C: and then try javac and I get the message above "bad command...."
I hope someone can help me get started with this.
just one extra comment. I seem to have 2 autoexec.bat files the 1st is in C: and the 2nd is in C:\windows\command\ebd. The one I changed is the one in C:
    God Bless Java

One point: I went into system information in system
tools and I was looking to see if I could see
anything. The following code is in there twice
java runtime environment 1.3.1_04 damaged 1,3,1,4There is nothing wrong with the download. It should be there twice. The following information is from http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3.1_01a/faq.html
Q: The file Java Runtime Environment 1.3.1_0x (an ActiveX Control) in the WINNT/Downloaded Program Files directory says it's "Damaged." What does this mean? What can I do about it?
A: This is a cosmetic bug; you won't run into any actual problems with the Java Runtime Environment. It does not mean that anything is damaged or that the installation failed. However, if you would still like to make it read "installed" instead of "damaged", you can edit the windows registry. First double-click on the ActiveX Control that is "damaged" (Java Runtime Environment 1.3.1_0x) and check the ID value. Go to Start->Run, type regedit and hit "Ok". Traverse to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCALE_MACHINE//Software//Microsoft//Code Store
Database//Distribution Units//{ID}//DownloadInformation, where ID is the value of the ID. Double click on the INF registry string, delete the string contents, and hit "Ok". The status of the previously "damaged" ActiveX control should now say "installed".

When I put in javac at the dos prompt it shows all the
options so that part works. At this point you seem to be ok; watch your capitalization and other programming errors.
    Good Luck

  • Can't Install CS4 properly. Please help.

    Hi,
I've looked around, this forum and other forums for help, but nothing has availed.
I have tried so many things such as running the winCS4cleanupScript.
    Problem:
When i try to install CS4, everything seems fine until a message pops up saying,
Installation has failed, following programs failed to install, adobe premiere & some other program.
I click continue, and happens again to all the programs.
In the end the error code was 1603, Looked something like this:
    Adobe Photoshop CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
    Adobe Bridge CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
    Adobe Device Central CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.    etc.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Tim,
Follow the mentioned below steps it will work for you.
    1) Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
    2)  Download, unzip, and run the Adobe Windows CS3 Cleanup Script (which  relies on the Windows program mentioned above to run) here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
Please run level 3 of the cleanup script to make it work.
As I said before, even though the Cleanup Script says it’s for CS3, it did work for me in installing CS4 as well.
Note: This is something we should use with Win 32 not with Win 64.
    Regards,
    Sam
