Can't install digital photo proffesional

It keeps bringing the message. "Don't have enough privilege to install. Log in as administrator and try again". Of course I was logged in as administrator and I even created a new administrator with same results. I installed the same software from the same CD in my Macbook so it's not the CD.

Is the CD a copy or the original?
There should not be any permissions issue with the original CD.
Insert the CD and in a terminal, find the CD as follows
enter
cd /volumes
ls -al
you will see the CD and the permissions on said CD.
here is an example:
dr-xr-xr-x 10 nero nero 2048 Apr 22 2008 Ubuntu 8.04 i386
where your username should be listed twice as the above "nero" is for mine.
However, your issue may lie deeper if the CD itself has the correct permissions, The files on the CD must also have the proper permissions.

  • Trouble installing Digital Photo Professional and other Canon software

    Hello everyone,
I have been trying to install several software programs on a new iMac without any success. My machine is the 20" Intel Core 2 Duo running OS X 10.4.8. I am attempting to install Canon's Digital Photo Professional version 1.0 and the EOS Digital Solutions version 7.0 (original equipment with my 1D mkII - will upgrade after installation). During the installation of DPP the process will stop while "configuring installation". I then receive a message that "There were errors installing the software. Please try installing again."
When operating the Canon EOS Digital Installer on the Solutions disk I receive the message "Not authorized to write to this folder".
As I am attempting to install this software under the administrative account, the error message for the Solutions disk puzzles me.
Does anyone have any ideas about what the problem is or where to begin troubleshooting?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Kevin

You may need to download the latest version (2.2.2).
It runs fine on my iMac C2D. Version 2.2.2 is also Universal Binary.
The only hitch you may have is the upgrade checks for an installed version. I'm not sure if it will accept the CD as an upgrade.
Where did I download it from? That I'm not certain of! I did a long search on Google & finally ran across a Japanese Canon site that had it.
If you can't install to upgrade, try installing it on a PPC Mac, install the update, then drag & drop the installed file to your new Mac.

  • Can't Install Digital Camera Raw 3.6

I am having problems installing Digital Camera Raw 3.6. During the install, I get the message "Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update can't be installed on this disk. This update provides support for Aperture 3 and iPhoto 9 only".
I purchased Aperture 3 from the Mac App store. In Aperture 3, Digital Camera Raw 3.4 is installed. Software Update does not recognize Digital Camera Raw needs to updated. Help!

Ernie.......yes, the application is Aperture, Mac's photo-image software. I didn't specify as I thought I was posting in the Aperture Forum. I'm not very familiar with these forums, did I miss a step in clarifying my subject?

  • Can't install Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.2

Software Update wants to install Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.2, but it always fails, saying: "The update “Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update” can’t be saved. You do not have appropriate access privileges. The Installer package has been moved to the Trash. To try again, open the package from the Finder."
I've tried doing Repair Permissions in Disk Utility, but this has not helped. I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.5, all other recent updates have gone in fine.

I had the same problem. Deleting the contents of the HD/library/Updates worked.
Never the less I noticed that the permission set was different:
Original permission set: admin R&W, admin R only, everyone R only.
I also followed the Alias and found two files with the same permissions.
Re-downloading (via software update) revealed a new permission set:
(Me) R&W, Admin R&W, everyone Read only
In both the alias and the two files downloaded. Note that (Me) denotes your user with administrator access.
I believe that, since the update was downloaded automatically, the permissions were mismatched and instead of adding a system R&W privileges it added a second Admin Read only permission.
Adding an administrator user with read and write permissions should solve the problem (as long as you authenticate as that particular administrator when prompted for intall authorization).

  • Can't import digital photos to iphoto

I recently got a sony cybershot digital camera. Whenever I try to import photos from camera to iphoto, the importing process does occur, only after its finished uploading a message pops up that shows many "unreadable" files then the photos are nowhere to be found. I called sony first and they tried to help but told me that it was something having to do with iphoto and that it should import when you plug in the camera to computer. Apple told me to try this! Any advice would be much appreciated

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Try this.
Use Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) to move the files from your camera to a folder on the desktop. Will they import from there?
If not, try open and save some of the images in Preview. Will they import now?
If so, use your camera to Reformat the Card in the camera. Consult your manual for how to do this.

  • Can't install i photo 5

I purchased this computer 10/24/05; it came with a iLife05 DVD that will not install (it pops out without reading). The computer has iPhoto 4.0.3 which is working fine. What's the problem?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Can you give us a little more information about your setup? Model, superdrive or combo drive, RAM, HD size and free space, and which disk you're trying to insert into the drive? Does it kick out immediately or after you try to run something on it?

  • How can I install I Photo and I movie on Mavericks

Had to downgrade back to Mavericks as Yosemite crashed my hard drive. Now do not have no iPhoto no I movie, both are telliming me I have to upgrade to Yosemite to be able to download, which I won't ever do. How can I get those two programs back? Please help!

If not, than I simply do not know how to restore programs from back up and need explanation.
What kind of backup do you have?
If you have a Time Machine backup, connect your Time Machine drive.
Select your Applications folder in the Finder.
With the Applications folder as the frontmost window enter Time Machine by launching Time Machine app.
The star wars display will show you the Applications folder. Click the Timeline to the right to go back in time to a backup from before your upgrade to Yosemite.
Select iPhoto in applications and click "Restore".
If you already upgraded your iPhoto library to iPhoto 9.6, you will have to restore the older iPhoto Library as well, as the old iPhoto cannot work with the newer library.
Restore you other applications in the same way.

  • How do I go about with Canon Digital Photo Professional installing?

When I bought my Canon 40D two years ago, I got a cd "Canon Digital Photo Professional 3.3."
I use that on my windows based computer for manipulation. Now..
I wish to install this software in my Mac Book Air. Since I have Aperture 2.1.4 on this MBA, Do I have to choose any particular directory for this Canon DPP install.
Will Canon DPP work along side the Aperture or work as a plug in for Aperture?

    Hi snowshine,
when you launch the DPP installer it will create automatically a folder named Canon Utility in the Application folder...mine did so, I didn't changed the default settings.
After installing DPP from the CD be sure to go to the Canon website and install the upgrade, there are several available, along with Picture Style Editor and a new version of the EOS Utility.
DPP and Aperture are two distinct applications, they can live together, no problem...I have installed DPP and Aperture 2.1.4 on my powerbook G4, DPP and Aperture 3 on both iMac and macbookpro..and everything's fine.
DPP will not act as an Aperture plug-in...but you can set DPP to be the external editor for Aperture if you need so, you can set the external editor program by going in the Aperture Preferences.
    Ciao!
    Alberto

  • Difficulty Installing Updates to Digital Photo Professional

I'm trying to install an update for DPP. I've downloaded the latest file from Canon, unzipped it and clicked the installer. I however get a message back that I  don't have sufficient privileges to install and to log back on an an Adminstrator. I've checked and am logged on as an Adminstrator. Any thoughts as to why the difficult?

I didn't mean to imply that the camera model had any effect on the issue, but rather that Canon is possibly not offering the same version of DPP for all of its models. Knowing the model, anyone can look at the specific download page for it to see which version they're offering. If it's not the latest, try going to the SX1 IS download page and download the version I installed last night.
Edit: I just checked the 7D downloads and the same version is offered (3.12.41); here are details on the system requirements for it:
    3. Target Applications (required for update)
Make sure that at least one of the following applications is installed.
    - Digital Photo Professional
    - RAW Image Task
If any of the above applications is not installed, prepare one of the following installation CD-ROMs.
    - EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk v1 to v25.4
    - DIGITAL CAMERA Solution Disk v2/32/32.1/38/38.1/38.2/39.1/53/54/71/72/73/74/96/97/99/100.1/101.1/122/123/124 /125/126/127

Is there a phone number to call Adobe.  I go around an endless loop pressing their contact info tabs?  Maybe someone at this sight can help. I am new to digital photo - I have been a B&W film photographer for many years. I have a problem with a Macbook Air.  It was working fine - I was using LR and a message came on the screen that said something like the memory was dangerously low.  I stopped and tried to delete LR files.  I couldn't do it.  I closed the program and tried reopening and got the message that there is not enough memory available to open LR.  I contacted Apple.  They spent a half hour on the phone with me and eventually told me they didn't know how to help. The tech said that LR had gobbled up all the memory and said I should contact Adobe and ask where and how my photo files are stored and to delete them.  I have several back-ups.  Thanks - Arthur

This sort of error message only comes up for Lightroom when your hard disk is full. Indeed this has nothing to do with internal memory as that will be intelligently be dealt with. If you have a mac Book Air that is not so surprising as the cheapest versions come with very small hard disks and if you shoot raw with any recent camera, you'll fill up your hard disk very quickly and you can probably only store a few months of pictures if you are a typical photographer. So the bottom line is that you need to create some room on your hard disk. You should move some of your originals to an external hard disk. You can also delete some of your backup copies of your catalog file that Lightroom automatically generates every few days and that quickly gobble up hard disk space. So first figure out how full your hard disk is. To see that, go to the apple menu, hit -> About this Mac -> More info->Storage. You should see your internal hard disk on top and you'll find that it is almost entirely full with photos. Now find your Lightroom catalog file using Finder. It is usually in a folder in the Pictures folder in your home directory. You should see a Lightroom 5 Catalog.lrcat file, a previews file and a folder called backups. Inside the backups folder, you'll find a lot of subfolders. They have names that show the dates the backups were created. If you have backups of your entire hard disk, you can delete these backups when they are older than a few months. I usually only keep the last 4 around. Just drag the folders into the trash can on the dock on the bottom of your screen and empty the trash. This will probably free up enough space that Lightroom will already run again. Now start thinking about where you will want to store older images. If you have a good USB3 or Thunderbolt hard disk that is probably the best option. There is a video here by Adobe that has some instructions on how to do this: Is Your Hard Drive Full? Here’s How to Move Images to Another Drive in Lightroom. « Julieanne Kost's Blog If that doesn't work because you don't have enough hard drive space to run Lightroom yet, here is another set of instructions to move your files using the finder to the other hard disk: How do I move only my photos to another hard drive, leaving the catalog where it is? - The Lightroom Queen. If you follow that, as soon as you confirm all your images are on the new hard disk, you can delete them from your internal one. She is not so clear about that part but if you don't delete the originals that you moved off you don't free up space. You should move the folder structure over to the new hard disk and then reconnect the folders in Lightroom. That should make it refind all your images.
That said, if you are uncomfortable with the computer in itself, your best bet is to find a local photography club. There is invariably a Lightroom savvy person in there that could help you move your files. That might be your best bet if you are uncomfortable moving these yourself. A general mac savvy person like you would find at an Apple store or so generally will not be able to help you with this except when they are photographers themselves and know Lightroom. You might get lucky with that.
