  • Can I install Driver updates?

Ok, i have installed windows xp on my imac for over 7 months now still working fine and a few days ago i installed a program called drivermax and found a few updates for my current drivers, my question is:
Can i install driver updates for my XP?
i just don't want it to cause any problems BTW, is it possible for me to get a new intel chip and work it on my IMac?

Hi ? and welcome to Discussions,
my personal approach with Driver Updates in Windows is 'never change a running system' and/or 'if it ain't broken, don't try to fix it'.
So unless I have any kind of trouble with my Windows I don't update Drivers.
BTW: I am still running the BootCamp Beta 1.1.4 Drivers
If you want to update drivers, you should consider making a backup of your BootCamp Windows before with WinClone http://www.twocanoes.com/winclone/ or at minimum set a 'System Restore Point' to which you can revert in case something goes wrong.
Nontheless you should stick with the Driver Updates Apple has provided.
BootCamp 2.0 Drivers are on the Leopard DVD and BootCamp 2.1 Drivers can be downloaded from Apple but will only install if you have installed the 2.0 drivers .
You can't 'upgrade' the Intel processor without at least losing your warranty.
Even then this is definitely a very difficult task and most likely not worth the time and money you have to invest.

  • Can't install driver for HP P1006 LaserJet under Windows 8.1 64 bit

    Hi,
I can not install the driver for HP P1006 LaserJet under Windows 8.1 64 bit.
I download the driver installation program from the HP website. When I run it, it says reinstalling the driver files, then copying files to the hard drive and then it crashes. I also tried using the driver CD that came with the printer to no avail.
The printer works fine on my other laptop with Vista on it. Help!

    Hi peshi77,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to install your HP Laserjet P1006 to your computer running Windows 8.1, but everytime you attempt to extract the files it crashes. After some research I see there were no updated drivers made available for the Windows 8.1 OS, you must install the Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver, to get the basic printing functions. Please click on the link below to download and install:
HP LaserJet P1000-P1500 Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver
Once downloaded, please follow the on screen instructions. I hope this helps!

    Hi @HungVo ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your Probook 450 g and issues with the mouse drivers.  The Synaptics Driver in Windows 7 comes with mouse drivers. Unless you are using a USB mouse which would use the Plug n Play drivers. Here is a download that might help.
Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system.
To get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial Forums.

  • G510 and Windows 7 - can't install driver

    Hi!
I have a problem with driver installation on my G510 notebook with Windows 7. I've installed all drivers, and only two had left: "Unknown Device" and "PCI Simple Communications Device". After installing the Intel Power Management Engine, the "Unknown Device" had disappear (installed successfull), but second one is still not installed. VendorID (8086) and DeviceID (8C3A) suggests, that this is Intel Power Management, but this driver is allready installed.
I tried to install different versions of this driver (even for Win8), but nothing changed. Google says nothing on my problem.  What else can I do? What am I missing?
    Regards.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Downloaded the file directly from Intel. Works fine now.
Too bad, that Lenovo can't provide proper drivers (Win7 x64) for their notebook. I've noticed several driver problems:
    - Intel Graphic Card driver, can't recognize the device (had to download directly from Intel),
    - AMD Graphic Card driver installs ok, but system shows error in Device Manager (had to download directly from AMD),
    - WLAN driver setup finishes ok, but the driver is still not installed (had to download driver for diffrent notebook model),
    - Power Management driver can't install all used devices (had to download directly from Intel).
    Regards.

  • My pc on windows vista can not install driver for my Iphone 4s on 6.0.1

I can do everything in itunes but the windows driver can not be installed.

I too have experienced the Logitech s715i error message stating something like, the accessory is not a supported device of the iPhone. The speakers will charge my phone but will not "connect" to play music. I have an iPhone 4S running version 6.1 (10B142).
I too have contacted Logitech for support and am awaiting a reply.

  • Hp officejet 6500 wireless doesn't scan to pdf and can't install driver

Purchased a new Windows 8.1 laptop (Dell) and using my old 6500 wireless printer but connected directly through USB.  I can scan from the printer control panel, but don't see an option to save the output as a pdf as was formerly the case with my Windows 7 computer.
There don't appear to be any  HP programs on my new laptop with which I can control the printer.  I downloaded the driver/software  from the HP site, but when I try to run the downloaded executable, it extracts the files but gets no further.
So there are 2 problems, but the first may be a result of the second.
Thanks for any help you can give.

    Hi,
Yes, Windows 8.1 comes with many generic drivers for printers and normally they only support basic print. Please download the following Software and Drivers and install to your Windows 8.1 (or 8) computer:

  • Can't install driver for HP laserjet p1102w

I have a HP laserjet p1102w installed on my network wirelessly. It was working fine, but then I had to set up the network anew.
Now I can't get it to work on one of our macbooks. The other one works fine, they both run 10.7.5
I tried to remove the printer from the list and install the driver again from scratch. I downloaded the newest driver from HP, installed it, and upgraded the printer firmware (using the other laptop). When i click the + in the printer list, the printer shows up, and then i get the message to configure it, saying that the software is available from Apple. It seems to download, and then says the software is not available at this point, telling me to get the newest software from the printer manufacturer. Which is what I did in the first place.
I tried this several times, also tried repairing permissions, that didn't help.
Does anyone have any ideas? Would greatly appreciate help, have spent a few hours trying to figure this out to no avail.

I just replaced my old graphics card NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 with another old model card, ATI Radeon 9800 XT. Everything was fine until I tried to update a recent ATI driver after uninstalling my old Nvidia driver with DriverCleaner Pro. I get this error message:
"Setup failed to launch installation engine: Class not registered"
Then, tried to install the driver through device manager with the update driver option. I directed to the driver folder on my desktop and the driver update went through, smoothly. However, when I put my computer in standby mode and then restore to full operation
I got a BSOD with this error msg.:
    ati2dvag.dll-Address BF039614 base at BF012000, DateStamp 49344e53
Now I can't use standby mode because the computer just shuts down instead of operating in standby.
Is there any idea why my new card is not being fully accepted in my OS and how can I fix this issue. BTW, my ATI card is an 8x speed and my AGP slot supports a max of 4x speed, but I think my card is reverse compatible with 4x slot with the same voltage (1.5V).

Thank you BOSS for your quick response:
I took your advice and reinstalled my OS, but unfortunately stand-by mode is still causing errors. The only difference is that I managed to install the ATI driver normally and no BSOD, so far.
I'm not sure what is causing this, but my humble guess would be that my ATI card is an OEM card which is pulled form a working dell computer and these cards sometimes do not integrate well when installed on non dell motherboards... However, I need to find out that that is absolutely the case before I remove my vid. card from my system
There is a memory dump file that contains the info about this error but I can't decipher...I'm not a computer savvy, but you or someone here my find the root of the problem in that file. If that will be of any help to provide you with I will, next time.
    Thanks in advance!!!

  • Can't install driver on Zen X

    Hi folks.
I installed the firmware upgrade a while ago for the playsforsure upgrade to my Zen Xtra 40 GB. The player worked just fine for a while (2-3 months) but recently has kinda hit a brick wall. I had some unrelated problems on my computer with my windows media player and had to do a windows xp repair installation. This solved my problems with windows media player but since that time, I have been unable to get the Zen Xtra to connect properly with my laptop.
The issue is that when I connect the player, I see the pop up in Windows that asks you what you want to do with the device. In device manager, the device appears as a portable player. The system tray shows a MTP device. Problem is that no matter what software I try to use to interact with the player, I am unable to upload ANY music file to the player. Windows Media Player sync function looks like it works in that I can run the sync process and then the files appear in the right hand column as having been transferred. When I look in the player though the files are not there. The player just doesn't accept any uploads. Also, no, the player is not full. I have 7 GB left.
I've tried reinstalling the driver which looks like it works but makes no change. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the creative software. This doesn't work becuase it can not find the player and can't even finish the install as a result. I have removed all creative software and tried reinstalling it. No luck. In device manager the driver shows up as a microsoft driver which I know is not right. Since the driver installation is an exe file though I can't find which file should be the ACTUAL driver for this.
Also, I did see a help article on adjusting the registry which I tried as well. The registry already had the required settings.
Anyone else out there have this problem? I'm looking for any kind of help here. I really need to be able to add songs to the player again.
    Thanks

    bnjmilner,
Once the player was upgrade to be PlayForSure enable, it will not be using the creative driver and instead the driver is supplied by the OS(Microsoft) so in the case of device manager driver listing as Microsoft, that's correct. You can try uninstalling/reinstalling WMP0 if you haven't done so and hopefully that repair the driver problem.
