I just replaced my old graphics card NVIDIA GeForce2 MX/MX 400 with another old model card, ATI Radeon 9800 XT. Everything was fine until I tried to update a recent ATI driver after uninstalling my old Nvidia driver with DriverCleaner Pro. I get this error message:
"Setup failed to launch installation engine: Class not registered"
Then, tried to install the driver through device manager with the update driver option. I directed to the driver folder on my desktop and the driver update went through, smoothly. However, when I put my computer in standby mode and then restore to full operation
I got a BSOD with this error msg.:
ati2dvag.dll-Address BF039614 base at BF012000, DateStamp 49344e53
Now I can't use standby mode because the computer just shuts down instead of operating in standby.
Is there any idea why my new card is not being fully accepted in my OS and how can I fix this issue. BTW, my ATI card is an 8x speed and my AGP slot supports a max of 4x speed, but I think my card is reverse compatible with 4x slot with the same voltage (1.5V).
Thank you BOSS for your quick response:
I took your advice and reinstalled my OS, but unfortunately stand-by mode is still causing errors. The only difference is that I managed to install the ATI driver normally and no BSOD, so far.
I'm not sure what is causing this, but my humble guess would be that my ATI card is an OEM card which is pulled form a working dell computer and these cards sometimes do not integrate well when installed on non dell motherboards... However, I need to find out that that is absolutely the case before I remove my vid. card from my system
There is a memory dump file that contains the info about this error but I can't decipher...I'm not a computer savvy, but you or someone here my find the root of the problem in that file. If that will be of any help to provide you with I will, next time.
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi.
I just got my used ATI Radeon 9800 PRO MAC AGP 128MB card.
What is the correct installation sequence into my Quicksilver 867 G4 running 10.4.11 on one drive 10.5 on another?
The original NVIDIA GeForce2 MX - 32MB SDRAM went bust.
Is the driver build in 10.4?
Do I remove the old driver?
If I need to install the driver that came with it, (10.3.6) should the card be installed first?
What about firmware updates?
Thank you for all your time and patience.
W.W.I think it's the card, but here are some files that may affect it...

Having trouble with my G4 MDD 867MHz DP and ATi Radeon 9800 Pro video card.
I just recently purchased the ATi Radeon 9800 Pro Mac edition card on ebay. I installed the card on my G4 and turned it on thinking everything would work with no problems, but when I turned it on the grey apple screen came up fine and then it changed to a sky-blue screen with nothing on it and remained on that screen. My desktop or any of my apps did not load up at all. I reset the PRAM and the NVRAM as the seller I bought the card from instructed me to and still I get the same result. Is anyone familiar with this problem? I was wondering if my monitor was the problem because I'm using a Dell LCD monitor as the display for right now? I need help! I'm trying to get this up and running so I can start editing. Whatever information anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated!
Sometimes display cards that support multiple displays (or a second display card in the same Mac) can cause the display you are using to be the SECOND display in a multiple-display "extended desktop".
When this happens, the MenuBar and cursor may be drawn perfectly, but be on the "other" screen, and it is very difficult to determine what has happened. \[This problem is sometimes caused by inadvertently leaving an adapter or cable on an unused display port.]
Try moving the mouse many times to the right to see if the cursor suddenly transitions onto your screen, then try the same experiment to the left. -
Can't install driver for HP P1006 LaserJet under Windows 8.1 64 bit
Hi,
I can not install the driver for HP P1006 LaserJet under Windows 8.1 64 bit.
I download the driver installation program from the HP website. When I run it, it says reinstalling the driver files, then copying files to the hard drive and then it crashes. I also tried using the driver CD that came with the printer to no avail.
The printer works fine on my other laptop with Vista on it. Help!Hi peshi77,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to install your HP Laserjet P1006 to your computer running Windows 8.1, but everytime you attempt to extract the files it crashes. After some research I see there were no updated drivers made available for the Windows 8.1 OS, you must install the Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver, to get the basic printing functions. Please click on the link below to download and install:
HP LaserJet P1000-P1500 Hostbased Plug and Play Basic Driver
Once downloaded, please follow the on screen instructions. I hope this helps!

My pc on windows vista can not install driver for my Iphone 4s on 6.0.1
I can do everything in itunes but the windows driver can not be installed.

I too have contacted Logitech for support and am awaiting a reply.

Can't install driver for HP laserjet p1102w
I have a HP laserjet p1102w installed on my network wirelessly. It was working fine, but then I had to set up the network anew.
Now I can't get it to work on one of our macbooks. The other one works fine, they both run 10.7.5
I tried to remove the printer from the list and install the driver again from scratch. I downloaded the newest driver from HP, installed it, and upgraded the printer firmware (using the other laptop). When i click the + in the printer list, the printer shows up, and then i get the message to configure it, saying that the software is available from Apple. It seems to download, and then says the software is not available at this point, telling me to get the newest software from the printer manufacturer. Which is what I did in the first place.
I tried this several times, also tried repairing permissions, that didn't help.
Does anyone have any ideas? Would greatly appreciate help, have spent a few hours trying to figure this out to no avail.Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the troubleshooting steps found in the article below.

Which monitor to buy for the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro w/256MB?
Has anyone successfully hooked an LCD through the DVI port at a resolution other than the 1920x1200 max resolution stated on the ATI box? Would a native resolution of 1680x1050 work with this card?
I was thinking about getting the Gateway FPD2185W monitor. Has anyone else had good results with this monitor?I have settled on the Gateway FPD2185W. This is a great 21" widescreen, and the ATI card handles the pivot capability very nicely. It's not automatic like on a PC but it does work.

MDD upgrade conflict with ATI Radeon 9800
does anyone out there have my specs; Sonnettech MDX Dual 1.6gh processor with ATI Radeon 9800 Pro VGA card? After installing the processor, i now get weird lines all over the screen at bootup and then i get a bunch of green speckles all over my desktop after the computer boots. i can work on my computer, but the screen images, speckles and other artifacts are annoying. i have dropped the hz to 66 and the screen resolution to 800x600 because higher resolutions would cause the computer to freeze. does anyone have any catalyst settings or ATI display panel suggestions ? i wish i could attach the pictures i took of the display.
Dual Power Mac G4 867 & Macbook Pro 2gig Mac OS X (10.4.9) FCP Studio 5.1.2Well, i tried your idea, bought the iceberq5, installed it with ease and things just got worse. 1st, my MDD Dual 867 mac's AGP slot is right next to my fourth RAM slot. So with the Iceberq5 installed, i had to lose 512mb of RAM. it just wont fit. the new cooler cover the RAM slot. so instead of 2gigs of RAM, i'm down to 1.5. 2nd, with the icebeq5 on the ATI card, the door will not close. the iceberq runs into the case holding my DVD drives. After booting the computer up with the case open, the screen still loaded with the screen defects. I'm thinking I have a bad card, yet it worked when the Sonnettech dual processor upgrade was not installed. these weird color lines only occur with the sonnettech md/1.6 dual upgrade and the ATI 9800 Pro installed. I then used TechTool pro to scan and check my AGP card VRAM and it gave me an error. So here is my question, is there another powerful AGP card out there for my mac dual 867 that has a powerful fan on it that is also small enough to allow my case to close and for me to have all my RAM installed ? Thanks

ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB good upgrade from stock?
Hi,
I currently have an ATI Radeon 9650 in my Dual 2.0Ghz PowerMac G5.
I have found a good deal for an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB card.
Do you think it is a worthwhile purchase?
Specs on the 9800: http://www.superwarehouse.com/ATIRadeon_9800_Pro_Mac_Edition_128MB_VideoCard/100-435050/ps/333809No, what you want is this.
http://www.ati.com/products/radeonx800/radeonX800xtme/index.html
buy page is here
http://www.ati.com/buy/pricesmacusa.html
It has a Dual Link and a ADC port on the back, so you can hook up anything from a 30" Apple (Dual Link) to any regular DVI (hooks up to Dual Link) to any legacy ADC (plastic) Apple display.
It's also the fastest current card on the market for your machine.
Check out the ATI upgrade program, you might qualify for a discount.
They send you the new card, you send them the old. But it may be wise to have two video cards, one for backup as they are getting scarce.
3D gaming is always pushing the video card envelope, so it's actually best to get the best right away to prolong your 3D gaming experience.
If you "half-step" it, then when you use a new game, it's crippled.
3D gaming performance is almost entirely video card performance dependent.

I have the new Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, which 3D animates all the rides. I've created a park that's only 1/4 of the available space and I'm getting dropped frames on my 6800GT and that's more powerful that the 128MB ATI card you mentioned.
Quake 4 runs great on my card, Doom 3 is fine, just a few stutters.
UT2004 runs great. Nanosaur 2 is very smooth.
So spend your money wisely, get the powerful card. Trust me. -
Hi,
I am trying to help a friend whose graphics card has bust.
The old one was an ATI RADEON 9800 PRO-(256MB)-MAC EDITION.
I've been looking on ebay and it seems a lot cheaper to get a Mac ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb Video Card For G4/G5.
Can I just swap them over? The connectors are not identical according to the photographs.
Thanks.I'd like to thank everyone for all the really useful information in this thread. It helped me solve a similar problem, which I'll describe here briefly in case it helps someone else.
I have a 2004/5 dual 2 Ghz PowerPC G5 and an Apple Cinema HD display linked, as I later found out, with the now defunct ADC connector. The display suddenly started to look like that scene in The Matrix, when code falls like rain down the screen, and I worked out I needed to replace my Radeon 9800 pro video card (I discovered the board was blue when I removed a thick layer of dust).
I took japamac's excellent advice and bought a Geforce 6800 Ultra from the linked eBay seller in Hong Kong, who delivered it extremely quickly, along with the cables to plug it into the DVD drive power source and a CD with installation instructions. It was only then that I realised the card had two DVI connectors and my display needed ADC (I hadn't understood the difference).
eBay came to the rescue again with a seller who had a secondhand DVI to ADC adapter, which Apple produced when it phased out ADC about six years ago but no longer sells. It has its own power supply and looks like a large version of the Mac laptop power cables - and has added signifcantly to the pile of spaghetti under my desk.
Installing the Geforce 6800 Ultra is fiddly, and a bit scary if you're not used to delving into the insides of a Mac, but the instructions were clear and illustrated with useful photos. The video cable has four connectors. Two fit into the end of the card, the other two (linked in a Y shape) form a bridge between the DVD/superdrive and its power cable. You have to remove the DVD drive, unplug it, and then plug one of the two Y video card connectors into the DVD power cable and the other into the DVD drive itself. Then you replace the DVD drive, plug the two remaining cable connectors to the video card and ease it into the old card's AGP slot.
Finally, with the G5 reassembled, plug the adapter's DVI connection into the back of the card, plug the Cinema Display ADC cable into the adapter block, plug the adapter's USB cable into the G5 (this enables the the USB ports on the back of the display to work), and power up.
At the time of writing, the display has been up and running for a couple of hours and all seems fine.
Thanks again everyone for all your help and advice. If it wasn't for communities like this, it would be virtually impossible to solve problems with old but still serviceable Macs. -
Need driver for display (ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP)
Necessary driver for display ATI MOBILITY RADEON 7000 IGP under operating system Win 98, ME
Hi
Like Joao said try to find necessary drivers on Toshiba download site. All drivers are designed for each notebook model and if you use a driver downloaded from graphic card producer site there is no guarantee that it will work properly.
Good luck!
