Can't install Epson stylus 230 with Mountain Lion.

Everytime I go to install the software from the website, I'm being prompted that I'm not the Admin and to log in as such.  Well I am the Admin.  Contacted Epson support and they said its the OS. I've restarted and redownloaded the software several times but nothing works. Ideas?

Thank you for providing the information.  It certainly helps in trying to replicate what you are experiencing.  First, let me say that you really shouldn't have to download software from the Epson site.  The latest drivers would normally be pushed by Apple's Software Update.
If you specifically want the Epson Scan software, then you would have to get that from Epson.   I personally do prefer the Epson Scan software over the standard Image Capture software, but that is only my opinion.
ILn any event, I followed your directions.  I downloaded two files. The main printer drivers was a file epson14341.dmg and the Epson Scan software was epson14339.dmg.  I did get two prompts.  The first was to say I wanted to open the software downloaded from the web.  The second was a standard authentication for the installer.  Screen shots below.
Are you getting a chance to enter your username and password?  Can you post a screen shot of what is preventing you from installing the software?

The installer for Logic Pro 8 has a bug which keeps it from operating in Lion or Mt. Lion.  Use the program Pacifist to install it.

  • How can I install epson stylus nx625 driver on my Macbook Pro?

I've spent a frustrating few hours today going back and forth between Apple tech support and Epson tech support and still do not have a solution to what should be a simple problem.  I got a new MacBook Pro as a work computer and want to install my home printer on it so that I can print when working from home.  The printer is an Epson Stylus NX 625 all in one.
The directions on Epson's website indicate that the only way to install is use the "Software Update" function by going to the Apple icon on the upper left corner.  When doing this, the system looks for an update and finds nothing.  Printer is connected to the MacBook  via usb cable and is also on my wireless network.  I called Apple tech support and they said they don't have a driver for this Epson device and I should contact Epson.  I called Epson tech support and they say that they don't even have the driver for this device on their website because "Apple has signed off on ownership of this driver and only they can deliver this to you via their software update".   Can anyone help?
I am running Mountain Lion, OS X 10.8.1
    Thanks for any assistance provided.

  • Can't use 5.6 utility with Mountain Lion

I just got a new Airport Extreme - trying to use the OLDER Airport Express and non of the Airport utilities will work with it and 5.6 won't install.
    Help!
    Thanks!

AirPort Utility 5.6 is the last version capable of administering your original Express. It is compatible with Lion as well as Mountain Lion, however, the installer app will refuse to install it on Mountain Lion.
This dilemma is easily solved though. You simply need to extract the app from the installer package using a package extractor like Pacifist.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
If you happen to have an archived copy of the AU 5.6 app somewhere, such as a Time Machine backup or equivalent, you can simply restore it or drag the app to your Mountain Lion system's Utilities folder. It will run without complaint. It is only the package installer that is the problem.
Mountain Lion will not allow you to delete its existing version of AirPort Utility. Just ignore it. It and the older version (which will bear the unique name "AirPort Utility 5.6") can peacefully coexist.
Note: For those with Leopard or Snow Leopard systems you need AirPort Utility 5.6.1 (this is confusing - a later AirPort Utility version for an earlier OS X version - but it is correct).
Download AirPort Utility 5.6.1 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1536
If you have an older computer with a version of AirPort Utility earlier than 6.0, you can administer it that way as well.

  • Can't access Palm User Data with Mountain Lion

    Hi
I am now using Mountain Lion (10.8.6) and can not acces Palm User Data which has all my contacts.  I'm not very computer savvy and am not even sure what my old computer was running that allowed me to open my Palm Desktop software so I'm not  very comfortable trying to install another OS just for this application.  Is there another way to open the Palm User Data with another application?  I tried Text Edit and the data is corrupt.  Or is there any 3rd party software that could help?
    thank you.
    Madeline

Hey guys I've found the solution for this problem!!! You will can continue using the wifi conection! My Mountain Lion language is portuguese so i will translate how i think it is in english... go to sys preferences, click on network, than select wifi and click on advanced button, select the hardware tab, on set check it as manual, and then check MTU mode as personilized. It will show a number (problaby 1500) set it as 1400 or lower and click on ok! After that, everything will work again! I hope that helped you all! Thanks.

  • I can't install MS Office 2011 on mountain lion

Hi, I just installed Mountain Lion, I made a clean install of it so I needed to reinstall all of my programs including Microsoft Office 2011 for mac. The problem is that I bought only a key for the program. The process for installing was originally downloading the trial version of it and after putting the key in it that converts the trial version into a full program. The problem is that when I'm trying to open the installer (yes, I tried to re-download it several times) I'm havin a window saying "Can't open the disc image" and the reason is that the "research is impossible" (when it's on my external hard drive). I searched on several other topics saying that the problem was due to a previous install... but I made a clean install... Otherwise I tried changing the security settings to every programs (not only from apple and app store) and I also tried the Ctrl+Open but it's not working at all and I keep having the same window.
    Thanks for your further help
Sorry for the English i'm actually french speaking.

  • Can't mirror to my Vizio with Mountain Lion???

I just downloaded and installed Mountain Lion and have lost the ability to mirror my Macbook Pro to my 32" Vizio.  I am using a Macbook Pro 17" (May 2012 and max out on everything) and it was working fine until I upgraded.  What gives?  Anyone have a solution other than, "restart the computer?"  That's why I left the PC world!  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Sorry forgot to mention I am sending signal to Vizio by HDMI.

  • HT4882 This no longer seems to work since Lion was installed and still not with Mountain Lion.

It seems this feature has stopped working only since Lion (now Mountain Lion)was installed. I wil try an old copy of an earlier OS as an external boot to check but this appears to be anOS upgrade problem.

The Swedish site you've linked is discussing .xmodmap, which is a hidden (hidden because of that leading dot) configuration file in your login home directory that's used to customize settings for the keyboard mapping within X11.
I'd expect the XQuartz tool to read ~/.xmodmap in your login directory as part of its initialization sequence.
The xmodmap tool (no leading dot, and not a hidden file) is an application that's used to process the configuration file.
When you invoke xmodmap (the tool), you either need to specify the full path /usr/X11/bin/xmodmap for it to be found and invoked, or you need to have the /usr/X11/bin/ directory added to your PATH.  Your PATH is the list of directories where OS X looks for the tools you're invoking.
If the xmodmap tool is not working, are there any diagnostics?  Or is XQuartz not honoring the request?  (If so, see if it will honor the setting made via the .xmodmap configuration file.)
And if you don't get an answer here, you might try the (pretty quiet) Apple x11-users mailing list.

  • Can't install Windows 7 Ultimate with Bootcamp (Lion)

    Hello,
Any help with this would be much appreciated. I have a freshly installed copy of Lion installed on my Mid-2007 iMac. Everything's updated, I prepare my Bootcamp installation and, hiccup, it doesn't detect my Windows 7 Ultimate DVD because it's on an external optical drive. The internal one's busted and disconnected. I tried rEfit, to no avail since it doesn't seem to work with Lion. Does anyone know if a bootable USB drive would work? I could create one, but not with the Bootcamp utility since it's greyed out and not available for my system.
Ultimately, I'm just trying to get a copy of Windows running to work with some old proprietary software. XP or 7 would do. If someone thinks a fresh install of Snow Leopard and an install of XP with an external optical drive would work, I'd definitely do it.
    Thanks for your help

What year/model is this Mac? If you select the first and second option, can you create the USB with a Windows ISO and BC drivers?
Unless you have a valid BC partition on your disk, the last option will not work.
Please post the output from Terminal of the following commands.
    diskutil list
    diskutil cs list
    sudo fdisk /dev/disk0

  • How can I sync Exchange/GroupWise calendar with Mountain Lion and iOS 6.1?

On my iPhone I have defined the GroupWise server and I'm receiving every calendar events but it doesn't sync to my computer.
Any idea why and how to fix it?

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

  • How can I re-run setup assistant with mountain lion?

I have run the setup assistant on my MacBook Pro but now realize that I'd rather run the setup assistant again in order to transfer the contents of my old mac to the new one.
There are a few suggestions out on the web but none have worked for me.

To transfer files from an old Mac, open Migration Assistant and follow its steps > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4889
