Can't install Flash player on Mac 10.10.1

I have tried all evening to install the latest Flash Player on my Mac 10.10.1 - using Safari as browser.
Did not work, therefore I uninstalled it and tried it all over again. Zero results, the downloading blocks around 29% and that's it.
Any idea what's going on?

Had the same problem (stalling at 25% or 30%).
This worked for me:
1.     Reboot computer or use Activity Monitor to force quit any prior Adobe Flash installation process that may be still running
2.     Download Adobe Flash update using this link: Flash Player for Safari and Firefox - NPAPI
3.     Mount flash player by clicking on flash drive icon on desktop
4.     Right click on Flash file
5.     Choose 'Show Package Contents'
6.     Open 'Contents' then 'Resources'
7.     Run file 'Adobe Flash Player.pkg'
8.     Reboot computer.

Reboot
Mount the DMG and run the installer.
BEFORE opening any Flash content in Safari, open Safari>Preferences, and check the Security tab to make sure "Allow all other plugins" is checked.

The dialog window requesting the password is an OS dialog window, it is not a Flash Player window. I understand the confusion, but we can't modify a system dialog window with additional information.

If you're system does not have a password, you should be able to continue the installation with out it. Ignore the password field and click the OK button. If your system does have a password and you don't recall what it is, I recommend Googling something like "reset lost os x password". This search returns many results, and some vary depending on the OS version.

I've spent the morning trying to do this and still no joy. I had flash player already and when trying to use the 4oD website it asked me to download or upgrade flashplayer. I did, the correct version according to my mac version. All goes well and the window message says 'installed successfully'.The only thing I find strange is that just before this message appears I hear the sound of items being put in the 'trash' ... and there they are. Other times the message error -1409 appears. The only icon that appears is the Flash player installer.pkg so not sure whether the application was installed or just the installer! All web searches prompt me to download the missing plug in, both in safari and mozilla. Java script is definitely enabled on both browsers.
I have use the uninstall package three times, restarted the computer, downloaded flash player again but no change.
Forgive my limited use of jargon - this doesn't make any sense to me but I've just spent 3 hours following instructions to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We apologize for the installation issues you are encountering. Unfortunately, we have not been able to reproduce these installation issues using the online installer. The offline installer Pat provided a link should work fine. If you'd like to help us troubleshoot the installation issues with the online installer, and are comfortable working in the Terminal app we'd appreciate it if you could provide us with the install log file for the online installer. If so, please do the following:
Download the installer from get.adobe.com/flashplayer and save it to the desktop
Mount the DMG (double-click the file) and copy the .app file to a local folder (e.g. desktop)
Open LaunchPad and in the top search window type Terminal, click the app icon to open the Terminal application
In Terminal, change directories to where the .app is saved to (step 2), type: cd <location to file in step 2>
e.g. If the extracted .app file is on the desktop, type: cd /Users/labuser/Desktop
At the prompt, type: ./Install\Adobe\ Flash\ Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Install\Adobe\ Flash\ Player -debug - file
Go back to back to the location where the .app is saved to (step 2)
Right-click on the app and select Show Package Contents
In the window that displays, navigate to Contents/MacOS
Obtain the host.develop.log file.
Post the contents of the host.develop.log file here in your response, or share the file following the How to share a document instructions.

I can't install Flash Player on Mac, because of Dashboard Client

I can't install Flash Player on my Macbook Pro OS X Mountain Lion, because of error it keep showing me, that my Dashboard Client is running and i need to close it.

Unfortunately, going through all the widgets, closing them, quitting the dashboard, installing Adobe whatever, then reinstalling all the widgets is a complete PITA.
There is a widget called Dashquit 3.0 which is supposed to turn dashboard off. When I tried it with 10.9.3, It quit dashboard, but dashboard started back up immediately, preventing the Adobe install. I then looked at other answers which recommended turning the dashboard process off using Activity Monitor. Same results - using either Quit or Force Quit, dashboard stopped for a millisecond then restarted.
The thing that finally worked for me after all of this was to restart the computer. I shut down Safari before restarting so that it would not appear immediately on restart. As soon as I was able to after the restart, I opened the Adobe .dmg file and started the install process. It finally installed without any further intervention.
Adobe, it sure would be nice if your installer-writers were to ignore the Dashboard Client since it doesn't use Flash as far as I know, and it would be even more convenient if the installer shut down Safari or Chrome or Firefox or other browsers automatically with permission from the user. It sure would make things a lot easier. Other installers do this routinely, so why can't you?

Can't Install Flash Player On Mac Without Admin Password

I've already posted about this, but I didn't get a meaningful answer, and another user who posted with the exact same issue was also unanswered.
My question is very simple: How do I install Flash Player on a Mac without an admin password? The downloadable installer demands one before it will do anything. When I click "show package contents" and extract the Flash installer package, open it up manually, and unzip the archive inside it, I get an unusable "Flash Player.plugin.lzma" file.
I need a way to decompress the Flash Player.plugin.lzma file.
OR
I need a link to download the Flash Player plugin, as in the actual "Flash Player.plugin" file, and NOT an installer app, which the main download link offers.
OR
An installer program that can extract and install the Flash Player file into ~/Library/Internet Plugins and do so WITHOUT demanding an admin password.

This password prompt is presented by your operating system, and is intended to keep you from accidentally installing software.
If this is your personal machine and you don't need a password to log into the computer when it first starts up, you can probably leave the password blank and click OK to get past this prompt. If this is your personal machine and your normal password isn't working, check to make sure that CAPS LOCK is off, and type the password carefully.
If this is your work machine and it's asking for an Administrator password, well, you'll need to have a conversation with your friendly IT person.

When I try and install flash player I can run the installer program, i click on agree to terms and conditions which highlights the install button. I then can't seem to get anything to happen by clicking on the 'install' button. I have tried re downloading and nothing changes. All browser windows are closed.

I used uninstaller,then downloaded install_flash_player_10_osx.dmg.Everything went fine until the end.

I was on youtube when it said I needed to update my flash player, so I clicked the link to update the flash player. I installed it, it said it was done and I was brought to the page in Safari that says install is complete and suggests an extra product. When I go back to youtube, it still says to update. When I go to the update page, it prompts me to install even though I have done so about 6 times. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my computer, everything. I checked the system requirements, and I meet all of them. I have no idea what to do from here. Please help, asap!

Before installing any application, I would recommend install all the updates first.
If you still can't fix it,
go to http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/internet_utilities/adobeflashplayer.html
and install the flash player manually.

I was informed by shutter fly that I needed to update flash player. After a couple of hours and several different attempts I was unsuccessful. I have since uninstalled flash player and tried to re-install to no avail. I am running OSX 10.9.5 and safari 7.0.6. When I run the regular install from website I click on the install now tab (step 1 of 3) and then am taken to another page that says initializing with a long blue bar (step 2 of 3). Very briefly am I then presented with some instructions to go to download folder, etc. I have tried this probably 50 times and can never read the instructions fast enough. It then takes me to a black screen. I have also tried the offline option and it also takes me to a black screen. I have checked my download folder and there is never anything in there related to flash player. Please help!!

I updated to 10.9.2 recently (whenever it came out). Adobe prompted me to update the flash player from version 12.0.0.70 to 12.0.0.77, which failed. I tried uninstalling all versions and reinstalling the new version, which failed to work as well. Currently, only the 12.0.0.77 debugger version (activeX; not the standalone version) allows me to view flash videos on youtube, espn, etc.
I would really love to get the standard version up and running again as I don't want to be running a slower developer version that tracks bugs in the flash player.

Thanks Melophage for the help! After consulting apple care (for the 2nd time), we were able to resolve the issue without going to adobe tech support as a last resort. I used the uninstaller to be sure all adobe components were removed from my mac. Then, we reinstalled the OS (without erasing). Don't know why the installer was hanging on me, but the fresh reinstall did the trick and solved the problem.

I to am running the same version of OS. However every time I download Flash Player it will run right to the end of the installation and tells me that it was successful. The only thing is when i go to open the program it is not there, and nowhere to be found.
I have tried uninstalling the software and re-doing the installation but with still no luck.
It is very frustrating most things that i generally watch require Flash Player.
Any help to rectify this problem would be much appreciated.

The issue you posted was different from the original problem in the thread. I've branched this into a new discussion.
Flash Player is a browser-plug in, not a standalone application, so there's nothing to install. If the installation completed, it sounds like Flash Player is installed. Each website uses code to detect the presence of Flash Player, and sometimes that code doesn't always work. If this is specific to a particular website or application, that may be what's going on.
Do you see content on a simplistic Flash site like this?

If so, then Flash is working. If not, then it may be blocked or something. Are you using Safari or something else?

Hi I have a MacBook Pro with OSX Mavericks and I have tried to install then uninstall the Flash Player and each time a box pops up and says the application quit unexpectely. I hvae tried this several times with no luck. Any suggestions?

That's because Chrome has its own proprietary Flash Player embnedded by Google. There are instructions for a thorough "clean install" here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1343084 if the regular clean install won't work.
