Can't install i tunes can't access location %APPDATA%

The install gets to computing space requirments then fails and gives could not access %APPDATA%\.

That suggests either a problem with the drive that your useraccount files are stored on, or a permissions problem.
Try running a disk check over the drive your "Users" folder is stored on. Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
[Check your hard disk for errors|http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Check-your-hard-disk-fo r-errors]
Does the disk check find/repair any problems? If so, does an iTunes install go through properly afterwards?

  • ERROR MESSAGE: COULD NOT ACCESS LOCATION %APPDATA%/

We had just installed wireless at home and our itunes was there according to my sons and it vanished. He was told to uninstall itunes and quick time which he tried. But he keeps getting half way through the uninstall of both and keeps getting an erro message: Could not access location %appdata%/
What should be our next step?

With that particular variety of 1606 (it's a 1606 error message even though the 1606 error message number isn't returned by the iTunes installer), the following Microsoft document is worth a try:
You receive an "Error 1606" error message when you try to install or remove a Microsoft program

  • Can't install i-tunes....problem says...system not modified.....not privileges to access this directory

I had to uninstall my iTunes.....Can't install again...tried 3 times and each time messages read:  1.  Systam has not been modified.  2. Installer has insufficient privilages to access this directory; C:\Program Files\iTunes  3. Log on as administrator or contact your administrator
    Thanks.  Jankeys

It appears that your user account on your Windows machine is not the system administrator. You are using a limited account most likely.
iTunes will have some issues if used under a limited account.
Go into: Start > Control Panel > Users
See which account is listed as the system administrator. Login to that account and you can promote your main account to system admin from there. Restart your computer if this worked.
If there isn't a system admin listed, there may be parental control software installed preventing you from accessing these settings.
Try installing any other program. (web browsers are good to try cause they are free)
If you are denied access to installing other programs, your user account is not system admin.

  • Error 1719 can't install I-tunes

Got an Ipod nano,2cd gen. and I have I-tunes ver 6 on my Win's pc. Tried to download Ver.7, and it says Can't install due to inability to find Windows Installer. Error 1719. I went to control Panel and tried to delete the old version, and got the same message. I've rebooted the pc, I've gone to MS's webpage and downloaded a "patch' something about needing a virtual thingy, and that didn't work. Does anyone have any ideas? And why is this happening? Thanks
    H.P   Windows XP

Ok, I've called Microsoft, and installed a new installer, ver. 3.1, Microsoft will not help me, due to having an OEM machine, and I have to pay $79 to talk to them.
I've called the Manufacturers of Ipod, and they tried to setup a new "profile" for me , but it kept coming up w/ can't install , can't un-install. The guy told me to call Microsoft and if that didn't work call back. I haven't called back yet because I've spent 3 days since I've gotten this "present" working on getting one silly jukebox. Sorry, I'm frustrated. Can I take the darn thing back? Or is there something else I can do? I tried the Win's Cleanup Utility, installed the VBscribt, and like I said installed the Ver.3.1 installer and nothing will allow me to install this Version of I-tunes. What else is there to do???? Thanks for your help, I do appreciate it, just verrry frustrated.

I suggest you open your own thread for your own issue, instead of hijacking someone else's thread ... especially someone else's thread that has nothing to do with your question.
And I suggest you read the forum FAQ.

Installation of EM12c issue on windows7

  • Can't install i Tunes!!! Plz help!!!

I keep trying to install i Tunes 8, but I keep getting this message.
It's really annoying and I seriously need help.
    Thanks,
    DB

Save iTunessetup.exe on your desktop, then right click on it and select run as administrator.
If that doesn't work, try installing from another administrator account.
Is this a fresh install, or are you upgrading from an earlier version, if so, which one?

  • Can't install because it can't create a recovery disk?

I've been trying to install mountain lion but it keeps saying that it can't be installed because it can't create a recovery partition. I tried to reinstall lion from the recovery disk but it keeps giving me errors and says try reinstalling, but doesn't give the option to download a fresh copy of lion and apple has pulled the lion installer from the mac app store. What do I do?

See "what to do if the installer warns that no Recovery System can be created" in About OS X Recovery.

  • I can't install quick time - can't find .msi file

QuickTime won't install because it can't find the .msi file - and neither can I.  Have searched computer - can't locate.  Have uninstalled and reinstalled.  No joy.  Any other suggestions?

Take a look at Install Missing Components from my troubleshooting tip and scroll down to the end of the Further Information area for a download link for QuickTime. Between the two you should be able to extract the .msi file. Or read the second box on uninstalling all Apple components, cleaning up, and then reinstalling.

  • Can't install Lion! Can't do anything now!

Can't install Lions as it says disk needs repairing. Can't repair it, can't erase it! Tried restoring from Time Capsule. It finds the backups but then can't find the HD to restore to.
    Now totally screwed! Any suggestions?

Lengthy visit to Genius Bar today. Had to erase disk completely (soooooo glad I have Time Capsule) and reinstall a Known Good version of Lion onboard. Then a 4 hour reload of last backup from Time Capsule. All good now.
Well done to Will @ Cardiff Apple Store!!!

  • HELP can't install i-tunes 9

Keep getting message that installer can't remove old version of I-tunes should I uninstall myself or am I opening a can of worms I can't cover back up? And if I should uninstall what should I remove?

    Try the following method.
Before you do it might be wise to save copies of iTunes Library.itl and iTunes Library.xml which are in your iTunes fodler. It shouldn't be necessary but you never know..
    == uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Save the files on your PC.
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program. The installer doesn't give any message to confirm the installation.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
(To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install)
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • Can't install I-Tunes 9 on my laptop

I had an older version of I-Tunes on my laptop that worked fine but I just got a new I-pod Touch and it needs the newest version of I-tunes. When I try to install it I get this error:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version+"8.0.50727.4053", type="win32,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", process or Architecture="x86"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x800736FD.
I installed the same version on my desktop and didn't have any problems so I don't think it's a problem with the file. My desktop is running Windows XP still and my laptop has Windows Vista on it. Any help would greatly be appreciated!! Thanks!
    Kristin

With these ones, Kristin, often the iTunes trouble is related to an underlying problem that will also cause Windows Update failures. If that's what is happening, fixing the Windows Update problem can often allow iTunes to install too.
Go into your Windows Update and open your Update History. Have a lot of Updates been failing for you? If so, doubleclick on the failures to bring up a small window with more information. What error codes are showing up for you for the Update failures? Are they also 0x800736FDs, or are you getting different error codes?
