Can't install ilife 04 on OS 10.2.8 nor 10.3

ilife will not install on either of my MACs. The one with the SuperDrive is a G-4, OS 10.2.8 at 733 mhz, 256 mb of ram. The target Mac is a bigger and better G-4 with OS 10.3.something, but does not have a DVD drive. My goal is to just use Garage band on the bigger Mac. Do I need to load all the features from ilife 04 onto the bigger g-4? Or can i just load gB?
To do either, however, I must get past the following problem.
iLife will not load on either computer, as i get error saying that the "contents/features of the ilife disc are running and can not load. Shut down GB, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie and iDVD and reload"(something to that affect).
Now, none of these items are running. This seems like an installation program defect. What do you all think? And is there a fix for it?
Thanks, Sid

Hi Sid.
If you have an external hard drive, then you can make a copy of the Install disk on the computer with the superdrive by holding the "option" key and clicking and dragging on the disk to create a disk image. This will take a little bit of time as it has to copy the info from the disk to your desktop. From there you can put the Disk image on your drive, then transfer it to your other computer. You can run the installer from the disk image exactly like you would from the disk.
Good Luck!

  • How can i install Ilife?????

    Hello everyone,
I got my Os Leopard and did intall it on my machine. When i did it, i choose to erase and install. Now i have a perfect Leopard running.
I really want to work with Ilife, i thought that Ilefe 8 was included, but is not. ( Deception ) So I have my Mac OS intall disc Version 10.4.7 what came with my computer. How can I install Ilife? I can't find it on the discs.
    Thanks you all

    fjunho,
You need the original "Software Restore" disk #1 that came with your iMac (these disks are light grey, and there should be two of them; #1 and #2). While running normally in Leopard, insert the disk. Look on this disk for the "Install Bundled Software" package, and double-click it. This will open that package in the OS X installer application.
The first thing that the installer does is check your computer against what will be installed. The "Software Restore" disks that come with all Macs are hardware-specific, and can only be used on the model with which it came. Provided you have the right disk set, you should proceed directly to the installation process. Click the "Customize" button, when it appears, to select only those components you wish to install.
If you are certain that you are, in fact, using the original "Software Restore" disks that came with your Mac, yet the installer refuses to recognize them as such, you need to contact Apple. Didi you purchase this computer directly from Apple, an authorized reseller, or through some other channel? Was this iMac purchased brand-new by you, or is it a second-hand machine?
    Scott
EDIT: Another possibility is that you do not have enough space remaining on your startup disk. iLife requires several GBs of space; if you do not have enough, that might explain the message you are receiving. -s

  • How many computers can I install iLife '09 onto?

My dad just bought a new iMac and with it he got iLife '09. Can he and I both install it onto our computers? Mine just has '08. Thanks

Not unless it is a Family pack - single user licenses can be installed on one and only one computer - Family packs can be installed on up to five in the same household

  • Can I install iLife '09 on a early 2006 model macbook?

Does anybody know if a early 2006 model macbook can install iLife '09 or iLife '11? I just got my hard drive replaced and was able to upgrade from Tiger to Snow Leopard (I'm a little behind the times). I look at the requirements for iLife, and I think I'm good on everything. This is what I found for the requirements:
    System Requirements for iLife '09

Please consult the owners manual or manufacturer directly for audio device specification and compatibility.
Burning DVDs requires an Apple SuperDrive or compatible third-party DVD burner.
Some features require Internet access and/or MobileMe; additional fees and terms apply.

    Hardware
Mac computer with an Intel processor.
GarageBand Learn to Play requires a Mac with an Intel Core Duo processor or better.

    1GB of RAM.
Approximately 5GB of available disk space.

I have OS X v10.6.8, with 1 GB 533 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM,  2GHz processor speed with 1 processor, 2 cores, 667MHz Bus speed, 2 MB L2 Cache. I don't know where to look to find the information about the 24-bit audio. I clicked on the System Profiler and looked at audio, but it didn't say anything about it. If there is anyone that can answer this question, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
    Joe

If you're on 10.6.8 you can use either '09 or '11.
As for the Audio question, if you go to Audio MIDI Setup (Applications > Utilities), and select the Audio Devices Window (from the Window menu in the menu bar if it doesn't open on that one by default) and see the drop-down in the middle of the pane - you'll see that 24-bit is available.

  • I've bought a secondhand iMac and can't install iLife

I've bought a secondhand iMac. Since the previous owner's AppleID is related to this iMac, I reinstalled the iMac with the help of Apple supportdesk. Now everything should be clean and I want to install iLife with my AppleID, but I get an error trying to do so. I click on accept and fill in my AppleID en password, but it says that the app is allready assigned to an other AppleID and therefor I have to buy iLife. And even if I should want to buy the software (which I don't want to, because it is part of this Lion-version), I can't buy it.
So my question is, does someone knows how to attach my AppleID to this iMac and all of it's software/App store?
I've also talked with AppleSupport and raised a ticket. And in the reply via mail there was no solution other than go to this community.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Dave,
Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately I don't have the installation disk, he said he bought it without any.
I've done a clean install of Lion with my own AppleID, so why is the AppleID of the previous owner still in here?
I've tried to purchase iLife, but that is also not possible. I keep on getting into a circle...
If you didn't erase the drive before reinstalling, that's probably why the previous owner's Apple ID is still being shown. When dealing with second-hand equipment, it's almost always a good idea to erase the drive (I even prefer to do a "zero all data" as a precaution and test of the drive) and then reinstall everything. That ensures both that any software you install you have a license for and that no malicious software could possible remain.
What does the Mac App Store say when you try to repurchase iLife?

  • Can I install iLife '11 on my MacBook Air?

I want to buy the 5 user version of iLife '11 but obviously there is no disc drive on my MacBook Air and I cannot download from the app store as I need the 5 user version. I also don't have a working external disc drive at the moment but a friend mentioned something about "Remote Disc" though she was unsure as to whether I could use Remote Disc to load applications such as iLife... Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Can't install ilife!

    Hi everyone.
I upgraded from an ibook to a macbook back in september, and about 2 weeks ago my hard drive failed. After replacing the drive, i tried reinstalling the os, but kept running into trouble when i inserted the second disc (kept getting an error and told to try reinstalling). Eventually I figured out that i needed to erase what I'd already installed and start over with a custom install, leaving out all of the extra stuff. This worked like a charm, and when i booted up, i tried to install ilife. Again, when I inserted the second disc, it wouldn't work. I really only want garageband, and I have no idea how to go about getting it. Does anyone have any idea what I can do about this?

Try using Pacifist to extract GarageBand and the GarageBand support files from that disk.

  • Can I install Ilife 8 onto my macbook from my new iMac install discs?

    I am confused!
I was in an Apple retails store yesterday checking out the new iMacs as I will shortly be buying one, a 24" 2.8Ghz model. As this will come loaded with Leopard and iLife 08 I was also planning on buying the DVD's of both ready to install on my Macbook so that both computers would be running the same versions of the OS and iLife. However, the salesperson I was discussing this with told me that I would be able to install iLife 08 onto my Macbook from the install disc that comes with my new iMac as the software is licenced to the user not the machine, thereby saving me from having to buy it.
Is this true? And what about Leopard?I always thought that the software discs only worked on one machine, i.e. the one it came with.

Here's a link to the Apple user agreement for iLife 08.
    http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/ilife08.pdf
Item 2 states that you may install iLife on ONE Apple Branded Computer. The family pack allows you to install on up to 5 in the same household.
The discs that come with your new iMac are specific to the iMac and should not be installed onto any other Mac. The retail version of Leopard can be installed on any Mac...but once again one license one machine.

  • Can I install iLife, iMovie on external hard drive

I have a powerbook and way too many photos/video cuts-have run out of hard drive space on my powerbook, have much stored on an extrernal hard drive (LaCie). But can't do much movie editing on the powerbook due to HD space limitations. Can I install iMovie, iphoto, iDVD on the esternal hard drive and work there? (250 GB vs the 60 on the powerbook!). If I do, will it delete the 90GB of photos I have on the external HD? Anything I whould worry about?

    Hi dianeh,
to uninstall, in finder, you drag'n drop the app into the trashcan - a correct programmed app should vanish "restless"... some apps have/need/come with uninstallers, but not Garageband.
you need to empty the trash to free diskspace, and you could use the "find" command to look for any "leftovers"; in case you find any, trash them manually by draggin' into trash......
    And:
you're able to reinstall GB from your installer/recover disk, in case you need it later..........

  • I can't install ilife after a lion reinstall ??

i recently purchased a macbook pro with retina display around a week ago and i just did a clean reinstall of os x lion yesterday and my ilife apps (imovie, iphoto and garageband) disappeared. so logically i went to the mac app store to redownload them, but instead of the "install" button it now says "accept" and when i click accept it prompts me to type my password and the its says:
These apps have already been accepted.
these apps were already assigned to your Apple ID
and are available in your purchases list.
but the aren't in my purchases ! and many people have soveled this problem by going to the "store" tab then "view account..." and then unhide their apps, but i don't have that "unhide" option ?
how can i solve this problem ?

Well there has been some real screw ups at Apple lately. As yesterday was the release of the new OS X version Mountain Lion and that all the newer MBPs and Airs came with a special version of Lion that for a while was not available to do a reinstall. People had wiped there hard drive to find out that the version they were downloading to reinstall didn't work on their shiny new Mac computers.
Your only options are to call apple and see if they can straigthen it out so you can DL those apps from the App store or to return that system for a full refund, you have 14 days from purchase date to return it No Questions Asked, and then buy or order another one.

  • Can i install ilife 08 include with my new macbok pro?

it is possible to install in leopard ilife 08 include in the tiger os disc of a brand new mac. Thank you.

You can also download Pacifist (shareware which works well with Leopard), and select the specific packages you want from iLife '08. This way you do not have to install trial versions of Microsoft Office and Aperture if you don't want to bother uninstalling them. Once you install be sure to click the software update. iMovie '08 would not work with Leopard until I updated. Once the update was installed, it works fine.
