  • I can't install itunes for Windows 7. Says program needed is missing

When I tried to update my functional itunes on Windows 7, the installer reported that a program required for the installation was not found and the install failed. Eventually it was suggested that I remove the existing itunes, which I did. The problem still exists and I now have NO functioning itunes.
Can anyone tell me the resolution to this problem? I really need to get itunes working again. Thank you.
    Larry

it stops when the installation says :computing space requirements. Then it just says "rolling back action", "the installation was unsuccessful"
Having the installer quit at that particular moment is consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Are you trying to install the 32-bit version on a 64-bit machine, or vice versa?
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • I can't install itunes for windows get error message 5

i can't install itunes for windows get error message 5

I've been having the same issues for the past year and a half. I've spent 6-8months trying to figure it out. Went to various Itunes stores with pictures on my Iphone per each step so I could relay all information that I'd come across and the personnel were less than helpful, after conversations that would sometimes last an hour between myself, employees and managers they always came back to "simply uninstall then reinstall" when I told them for the thousanth time that I've done that multiple times and my errors are happening while trying to reinstall it they act stumped and say "well then I'm not sure, I'll give you a call if I figure it out" and disappear. I've been very disatisfied at the lack of support from Apple and if Android to piece together a reletively reliable phone I'd switch to them in a heartbeat. I'll follow this question incase someone can answer this, but I don't have much faith.
BTW, wifey has Windows 7 running on the laptop and my phone syncs just fine to that and no trouble with itunes, just mine (desktop).

  • Can't install itunes in windows vista

i'm just upgrade my gf's PC from Windows XP to Vista. I find that I can't install itunes. As it said visualbsic script is missing or disabled. How can i solve it??

I think it would be a good idea to scan for malware as malware often interferes with Windows Update.
Download Malware bytes and run a full scan, there is a free version:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
In services, check the Window Update service. It should show as "started" and start up type automatic.
The other thing is to run the system file checker:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
This will attempt to fix problems and if it will not run, that is another clue to the problem.

  • Can't install itunes on Windows 8.1

    Hello,
I have a brand new Windows 8.1 64 bit laptop PC, and I can't install itunes. I have tried downloading using internet explorer and firefox, and it doesn't even get as far as downloading. A message appears on the apple website saying thank you for downloading, but nothing happens, no error messages, no downloads, nothing. To clarify, itunes has never been installed on this PC. Thanks

  • Cannot install itunes on windows 7: Error writing to file C:\Program Files(x86)\itunes\mozilla plugins\npitunes.dll

Unable to install itunes on windows 7. Gives message Error writing to file C:\Program Files(x86)\itunes\mozilla plugins\npitunes.dll and then starts rolling back.

If you uninstall your Firefox, and then try the install again, does the iTunes install go through? (If it does, reinstall your Firefox.)

  • TS1829 Can't install iTunes on Windows 7 64 bit system

I get this message: "errors occurred during installation before iTunes could be configured" while trying to install iTunes 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit. Tried turning windows Defender and running it but same result. Itunes worked fine on Vista, but since going to Win 7, no luck. Can't update iPhone or anything :-(

Are there any special charaters in your user name? I know that has caused issues in the past. You might need to contact Adobe support for this one.

  • Can not install itunes on window 7 64 bit

When ever I try to install itunes 10.6.3, I receive a message "the installer encountered errors before itunes could be configured....errors occured during installation".  I have attempted to install itunes using the "download only" method.  I have also uninstalled all previous versions of the software but nothing works. Help!!!!

An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\com.apple.Safari.client.resources\pt.lproj

  • I can't install itunes to windows 7 64 bit because of computing space requirements

I tried to install iTunes 10.7 on my computer but it stops when the installation says :computing space requirements. Then it just says "rolling back action", "the installation was unsuccessful". I don't know what's going on because I have more than 40 GB of free space on my hard disk drive. I also tried with an older version of iTunes but it keeps doing the same thing.

  • I can't install iTunes on Windows 7. "An error occurred during installation of assembly"

I recently purchased an iPhone 4s. This product requires me to insall iTunes on my pc, which runs Windows 7 64bit. However, when installing iTunes I keep recieving the same error message-- An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,type="win32",version='8.0.50727.4053',publicKey Token="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b". ProcessorArchitecture="amd64"      HRESULT: 0x800736B3
I've already looked over many previous forum posts and haven't been able to find a suitable solution to this yet. I had iTunes on my computer previously but deleted it after I had freezing trouble. I have ensured that all old files have been removed. Bonjour gave me some trouble but I think I have dealt with that now. Also, I have been experiencing some failures with windows update-- service pack 1 for windows seven and some security updates mostly-- which I am yet to solve. I really have no idea what to do as I would like to run my iPhone on the latest iOS. If anybody could help me I would be forever grateful.
    Thanks, heattr.

  • Can't install iTunes on Windows 7 - error code 2329

I just installed Windows 7 on my computer and now am trying to re-install iTunes...I uninstalled it before upgrading from Vista to 7 because a compativbility scan said that iTunes could cause problems with the installation of Windows 7
Now, after saving and running the iTunes installer on my computer, I get error code 2329 while trying to install. I believe this happens when it is trying to initially install Quicktime, which I actually still have installed on my computer...
I have tried uninstalling Quicktime, but I get the same error code during that process
I have also tried installing iTunes by going to the Apple Software Update instead of saving and running the file from the internet, but it fails also....
    Please help!

Now, after saving and running the iTunes installer on my computer, I get error code 2329 while trying to install. I believe this happens when it is trying to initially install Quicktime, which I actually still have installed on my computer...
The 2329 appears to be associated with file/disk damage, lora (much like the more-common 2330).
So we should try first running a disk check over the drive your QuickTime program files are stored on. For instructions, see:
[How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)|http://www.w7forums.com/use-chkdsk-check-disk-t448.html]
Try checking both boxes. The scan should take quite a while. If the scan aborts fairly quickly (even if you do it on Start-up), try rebooting the PC, disconnecting from your network and/or the internet, and disabling all security software on the PC (firewall/antivirus/antispyware) prior to doing the disk check. (Real-Time scans of your drive by your security software can interfere with disk checks.)
Reenable all your security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Does the disk check find/repair any damage? If so, are you able to do the iTunes install afterwards?

  • Can't install iTunes in Windows

I had iTunes on my computer and now I can't access it. I uninstalled it, turned off computer, reinstalled it, and it's still giving me the same message:
iTunes.exe System Error program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling.
That did not work, I tried it three times. I even updated Windows.
The window that follows that error message is the following:
iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows Error 126)
When I install iTunes it also follows with:
Service "Apple Mobile Device" failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I tried to install for 32 bit and it rerouted me to 64 bit.
I am at the end of my knowledge, any ideas please?
I have iTunes on my iPad and iPhone, they both work.

Click here and follow the instructions.
