Can't install itunes to my slave drive

I added a new drive and made it a slave even though it's larger and faster and would probably have worked better as the master.
However, I want to install iTunes on the slave and run it from there because the drive is larger and my library is huge, but every time I install itunes, it puts it on the C:\ drive even though I specified the other drive.
Is there any way to completely install and run iTunes from a slave drive?
Thanks in advance.

I tried moving the library but no dice either, which is weird because I used to run the library off an external HD and it worked fine.
When I try to move the library and change the directory in itunes it just changes everything I click back, as soon as I close the window. There is no "apply" button or anything so I'm at a loss...

Can I install itunes on a network drive? How?

Your virtual drive still needs a physical drive to live on. You can move your iTunes library to any drive big enough to hold it, e.g. an additional internal drive, an external drive, a network share, it's up to you. What you can't do is put a quart into a pint pot.

Can I Install iTunes on the D: Drive? I looks like iTunes does not give me that option to do this.
    Thanks

It's like any other program installation - during the install it says where it is going to put the program.
    The default is C:\Program Files\iTunes.
You have to say "No" or "browse" or something like that, and tell it the D: drive instead.

wondering is it possible to install iTunes on a virtual hard drive, not a USB device of any? The music library is huge and I'd like to try to conserve space on the hard drive.

  • HT2688 Can I install iTunes on an external drive and store my music there?

I am trying to figure out the best way to manage my music.  600 cds that I need to upload somewhere.  I am thinking I put them in itunes and then bluetooth them to a wireless speaker.    My old school stereo needs to go but I am not sure where to begin?  Help?

iTunes, like any other program installed on a computer is only installed on the main (typically C) drive.
The media folder can be stored anywhere the user likes.
How one connects speakers to the computer is their own business and has nothing to do with iTunes.

My iTunes Music folder takes up so much room on my hard drive, I would like to save it on an external drive and delete everything on my c: drive. Is this possible?

    Easy.

That was timely.  I had the same question (new MBP with two drives) and you solved my question.  Thank you.  It works the same way you change Aperture Libraries, so it makes sense and is easy to remember.

I pulled my brains out trying to figure this bug out and I may have a solution for you.
All of it installed fine in my desktop, but a friend's laptop got the error you mentioned on quicktime, itunes, flash, officeXP and about anything else I tried to load for him.
If you look in: C:\documents and settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp there will be an iTunes install log...open it in Notepad and see if it isn't exiting with a 1619 error while running msiexec.exe
If this is the case, this fix should work for you.
Seems some configurations of XP (and possibly Vista) aren't allowing full administrator rights to the account you set up when you installed XP (even though User Editor says you do have those rights.)
I read 2 MS articles and turned off simple file sharing, then gave ownership of the entire C: drive to the administrator. Logged the admin account off, logged his "admin" account in, and then gave rights to his personal directory to his account (c:\docs and settings\<username>)
Once I did that, every install that had previously errored out performed flawlessly.
    The MS articles in question:
    http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=316309 (1619 error)
    and
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308419 (how to set special permissions)
    Hope this helps!

  • How do i install itunes on an external drive

How can i install iTunes on an external hard drive?

Thanks, but I'm not referring to the music library, I'm referring to the actual iTunes application.  I've read other threads saying that it can only be installed on the C: drive, so guess i'm out of luck.
    Thanks anyway!

  • Can I install Adobe Reader to a drive other than the C: drive?

Can I install Adobe Reader to a drive other than the C: drive?

    Hello there,
Welcome to Adobe Community. Yes it can be installed on a different drive. Though some of the files installed by it will still be installed on C: drive.
When you run the installer, use 'Change destination folder' at the bottom of the panel
If you already have Adobe Reader installed on the C: drive, you must uninstall it before installing a new version on a different location.
    Thanks!

Can i install itunes multiple times on one computer for multiple users?

Like most applications you only need to install it once for it to be available to all users. (That said it is possible to install an application and only make it available to the current user, but that's rarely needed.)
