Can't install iWork 06 or 08 on iBook

iWork 06 and 08 (full versions) both hang up in the "Writing files" stage of installation. I meet all the system requirements for OS (10.4.11) and Quicktime (7.5) and haven't had any problems installing iLife or anything else. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Megan

Success! A safe boot (after removing /Applications/iWork '06/ and all iWork-related things in /Library/Receipts/ and /Library/Preferences), made the installer run just fine. Now Pages and Keynote both load without trouble. Thanks!
Another strange thing I noticed along the way, though: When I thought it might be an intel-switch thing, I went looking for the "run in Rosetta" checkbox in the Get Info window, but it wasn't there, even though it said Pages was Universal. So, I used ditto to make i386-only, ppc-only, and ppc64-only copies. The i386 copy tried to run, and crashed, just like the Universal copy did. Each of the ppc copies had grey slashes over their icons, and when I tried to run them, I was told that they didn't support my architecture. Shouldn't they have just run under Rosetta automatically instead?

  • Can't install iWork on iPad mini with retina

I Just bought a iPad mini 2 with iOS 8.1, but I can't install iWork in AppStore
It was said that 'you must update it to iOS 8.0'

If the applications are all showing waiting attempt tapping on one of them to see if it is merely in a paused state. If tapping on the app does not continue the install connect the device to a computer with iTunes and transfer purchases. This may ask you for your Apple ID. Transfer purchases: right click on the device from the sidebar and select transfer purchases or select File>Devices>Transfer purchases from "iPad".
Once the applications are transferred to iTunes attempt to sync the device. If this still does not resolve the issue you may need to navigate to the apps portion of of the device in iTunes and select remove for the applications that are stuck waiting, sync, and then select install and sync again. Hope this helps.

  • Can I install IWorks 9 on my new MacBook Pro along with the free version now included ?

I have IWorks 09 for my Mac desktop. I'm purchasing a MacBook Pro shortly and would like to have the same version of IWorks on both PCs. Can I install IWorks 09 on the MacBook which comes with the new version of IWorks pre-installed ? Or, can I delete the free version and install the 09 version ? I'm relatively new to Macs so this is probably a beginner question.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
New Macs don't come with iWork preinstalled. You have to download it from the Mac App Store.
What you can do is to use Migration Assistant to transfer the files you want, and include Applications, so your iWork apps will be transferred. You will be asked to transfer files from another PC or Mac during the setup of the MacBook Pro.
Then, open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and download the new iWork applications versions free of charge. By doing this, you will have the old and the new version

  • How can i install iwork dvd in Macbook Air?

Somebody know how can i install iwork dvd in Macbook Air? I try to use the CD compartment from my Macbook pro, but it don't work... tks

First, share your MB pro DVD drive on the network in System Preferences > Sharing.
Insert the iWork DVD into the MBpro's drive.
Then go to your MBair and click "Remote Disc" in the Finders Sidebar.
You'll see your MBpro listed in the finder window.  Click the arrow next to The MBpro name and you'll see the shared DVD.  Double click that and the installation process should begin.

  • How can I install iWork '09 on new MacBook with Lion?

I have an install DVD for iWork '09 (9.0.3), and I've been running iWork on my iMac for several years without a problem, even after upgrading to Lion. Now I have a new MacBook Air with Lion preloaded and am trying to install iWork on the new machine. I was able to install from the DVD using drive sharing, but when I try to open Pages, Numbers or Keynote, I get a message that says "Pages cannot be opened because of a problem" -- presumably because I need to update iWork for Lion. After downloading the iWork 9.1 update, I tried to open it but get an error message that says "A newer version of Keynote has already been installed."
This doesn't make sense to me, since the version I installed from the DVD is definitely older. How can I update iWork to run on my new machine?
By the way, I tried just copying the programs from my iMac with AirDrop, and I get the first error message I mentioned above.

    MN,
I don't know why the Drive Sharing idea didn't work. I can think of reasons that copying with AirDrop wouldn't work.
At some point you may just want to give up and purchase Pages using the Mac App Store. It's ridiculously cheap and easy.
I worry that you have so much inoperable iWork stuff on this computer that it needs a good clean-up, whichever way you decide to go.
Yvan Koenig has a script to do the purging of old copies of iWork files that you can run before you make any more attempts at installing iWork or any of its components. It the last item on this page as of this writing...

  • How can I install iWork's in my iPad from the CD iWork's 09?

I purchase iWork's from applestore in a CD, I'd installed it in my MacBook but I can't install in my IPad, how can I do it?

OS X and iOS require different apps, bought separately. For your iPad you need to get your apps from the app store, not a CD.

  • Just purchased a Mac Book Pro 15,  can I install IWorks on it?

Am new to the Mac.  I just purchased a new Mac Book Pro 15.  I was wondering if I can install iWorks on the Mac Book Pro.

I believe that Kappy was referring to iPhone and iPad (mobile devices) by the iDevices reference.  There is a different version of KeyNote, Numbers and Pages (the apps that make up iWork) available for the mobile devices.  I have a 13" MacBook Pro and am running iWork '09 but I have visited the Mac App Store and upgraded my version of Pages to Pages 11.  I just ordered a 15" MacBook Pro and can tell you that all of these programs will run on your Mac fine so long as you have the Mac versions and not the mobile device version - this is what Kappy was pointing out to you above.  My assumption is that, since you refer to the suite of apps (iWork), you have the corect version for the MacBook.  If you are referring to the mobile versions because say you bought one of the programs on your iPhone, that version would not be compatible with your MacBook, but, again, you can visit the Mac App Store right on your new MacBook and you can buy and download the relevant program you need right there - be it Pages, Numbers or KeyNote.  Hope this was helpful.  And welcome to the Mac world.  I started with an iPod shuffle, then the Nano, then the Touch, then the iPhone 3Gs, then the 13" MacBook Pro, then the iPad (original), then the iMac, then upgraded the phone to iPhone 4S and now I'm graduating to the 15" MacBook Pro.  Can you tell that consumption of Apples is very addicting?

  • Can I install iWork '09 and iLife 11 onto OSX 10.9.5

    Hello members,
My first post asks if I can install iWork '09 and iLife 11 onto my OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks?
I purchased a new Mac Book Pro 2.5 Ghz i7, and the iWork and iMovie apps appear to be trimmed down from the previous versions.
Is it possible to have the previous versions run side by side on the one Mac Book and are there any specific installs that need to be made?
I have the original discs of iWork and iLife.
    Thanks

I have both iWork 09 and iLife 11 installed on my Mavericks machine; iDVD works (it actually - sort of - still works in Yosemite with a few mishaps here and there). I am also still using iMovie 06 HD and iMovie 09 with Mavericks (iMovie 06 no longer works in Yosemite).
I am also still using Pages and Numbers from iWork 09 as I prefer them to the current app store versions.
Having said all of that, I do not know if the installer for one or both will still work in Mavericks as my copies have been installed since Lion - I've had one software (Final Cut Express) which will run in Mavericks, but has a PowerPC based Installer, so it can't be installed unless you manage to copy every associated/necessary file over. But, it is worth a try. If you want to try it, be aware that if you've installed the app store versions, then it'd be best to uninstall the new versions first or you'll probably get the "a newer version is already installed" message. You can reinstall them later.

  • Can't install iWork on G5!

I recently did a clean install of 10.4 (and updated to 10.4.8 via software update) on this G5. Everything works fine, except for the fact that I cannot install iWork '06 no matter what method I try. I've tried installing from the disk and from a disk image. Each time, it gets about 47% of the way and the installer quits with the message - there were errors installing the software. please try again.
I have absolutely no idea why this program will not install. I've done everything I can think of to get it going. Completely wiped the disk and tried a fresh OS, ran Disk Warrior, repaired permissions, etc, etc and it still doesn't work. Does anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?

I will try a re-install of the Combo update when I get back from the holidays. The software update download was about 150MB, which is just about the same size as the combo updater. Also, I tried the install from a disk, a dmg and from the package which I copied directly to the desktop from both the dmg and the disk, so it's not the disk or the drive that is the issue. Both the dmg and the disk work fine when installing on other machines (we have a group license). I think this computer is possessed!

  • Can I install iWork's on my iPad from the iWork's cd for a mac book?

I have the iworks cd for my mac and I was wondering if I could install iworks onto my ipad without repurchasing the software from the app store for my ipad.

I don't know of any free apps for the iPad that offer similar functionality to the iWork apps, though of course it depends on what specific functions you need. No free app will open an iWorks document, if you need that capability.
    Regards.

  • Can't install iWork

When we try to install iWork, it creates the Pages and Keynote folders under Applications>iWork, but there us nothing in there. Apple sent a new disk, but the problem remains. We also purchased Tiger, but of course cannot find the trial disk for iWork (we did find the envelope for it, however). Any ideas???

I'm guessing that you tried deleting the trial before installing the purchased version of iWork. Although this is not necessary, all is not lost.
