Can't install Keynote 2012 over iWork 2009

Hi guys,
I'm an «historical» user of iWorks 2009. I would like to upgrade the Keynote program alone but when I try to buy it from the App Store it refuses to install claiming that «An older version of Keynote is already present» and suggesting me «to go trhough the "update software" service» to get the new version.
As you can guess… the update service doesn't propose any upgrade.
I've tried to manually delete the Keynote'09 from the App Folder but the App Installer stil claims about the presence of the predecessor.
So, the question is: how can I upgrade just Keynote to the last version? without touching Pages and Numbers?
I would precise that I bought iWorks before Apple lanched the App Store for Mac applications.
Thanks folks…

There is no "Keynote 2012".  The Keynote standalone app that is now available in the Mac App Store is the same as the one that came on the iWork '09 install disc, it's just been (very slightly) updated for Mountain Lion and iCloud compatibility.
If you have been doing your software updates, your existing (that is, before you deleted it) version of Keynote should have received the incremental updates over the years.  You could confirm this by looking at the actual version number of Keynote in the MAS (v. 5.2) and the one on your hard drive (select it in the Applications/iWork/ folder and do a Get Info by pressing Command-I).
As for when we might ever see a Keynote '12... or '13... or '14... frankly, I've stopped holding my breath....

Can I put Keynote (or any iWork) with or without OS X on a flash-drive and then plug and play that from a PC? I need to do a powerpoint style presentation and would like to use Keynote.
Is it possible to bring everything I need on a flash-drive and make it work through a normal PC that the classroom provides to run these presentations on a big screen?
    Thanks!

no. you can certainly not put just a few iwork apps on the flash drive. you can install the whole OS X on such a drive if it's big enough but it will absolutely not run on a PC. it will only run on a mac.

in my experience all such classrooms allow you to plug in your own laptop and give a presentation from it. that would be the only way to run keynote there - by bringing your own mac laptop and plugging it in.

  • How many Sapphire Sapphire RADEON R9 270X can i install in my mac pro 2009?

How many of the graphics cards can I install in my mac pro 2009? Sapphire Sapphire RADEON R9 270X
    Thanks

Why? do you use FCP-X? that will benefit from two. Also gaming in Windows where you can use Crossfire
You have two 6-pin power feeds so you will need a small 450W PSU - those come with two 8-pin and two 6-pin.
Those can often fit in the optical drive bay and cost $25-75 range.
"500W" is NOT for the card! that is the minimum PC PSU only!
when buying look for card that uses only two 6-pin and not an 8-pin power.
75W for the PCIe slot, and 150W from two 6-pin cables, most GPUs fall into the 200-250W at maximum stress levels8-pin is basically two 6-pins and 150W feed

Keep in mind that the Mac Pro tower can't feed enough power to the dual 980s, dual 290Xs, or dual 7950s.
We used an auxillary power supply to compensate.
For the hard core GPU rendering, there are external expansion boxes with their own power supplies.
In an earlier article, we featured the Cubix Xpander which facilitated the connection of 5 GPUs to the Mac Pro tower.
If you favor an AMD GPU like the Radeon R9 290X, MacVidCards can modify it to run at PCIe 2.0 bandwidth in your Mac Pro tower.
The Sapphire Radeon R9 7950 Mac Edition is available from OWC and TransIntl.

    Things to keep in mind:
The Radeon R9 280X we used was 'un-flashed.' It booted OS X fine but there was no startup screen. Also, when we checked the speed of CPU-to-PCIe-to-CPU communication, it appeared to be running in PCIe 1.0 mode instead of PCIe 2.0. However, unless the GPU intensive app saturates the PCIe 1.0 bandwidth, it will not run any faster in PCIe 2.0 mode. http://barefeats.com/tube12.html
Which is one reason why you might want to buy pre-modified cards from http://www.macvidcards.com

Can I install elements 13 over an old version

Yes, different Elements versions are independent programs. You can keep them in your computer; it's even recommended until you master the new version and you have checked that some features have not been removed. It's also recommended if you are using the organizer until you are sure your catalogs have been correctly converted.

  • Can i install flash drive in mid-2009 macbook pro

I want to increase the storage on my MacBook pro - mid-2009. I use Final Cut so there are demands. Must I stay with a spinning drive or can I install a large flash drive? I big can I go? 2.26 ghz, 8 gigs ram, running latest Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
    Thanks

One option is to remove your DVD drive and install a second drive.  So you could have an SSD (flash drive) for speed and a traditional drive for volume.  This might be helpful:

  • Can I install Snow Leopard over Lion to install old software after hard drive crashed?

My hard drive crashed and I lost everything.  I have a new hard drive, but when the repair shop installed my operating system, they installed Lion and I no longer have my prior updates.  My computer had been updated a few times.  I have a lot of software that only can be installed up to 10.7 such as Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, Office Mac 2011, etc.  I was wondering if I installed Snow Leopard over Lion, would I lose Lion?  Should I install Snow Leopard and then Lion again?  I don't want to damage my like new computer and I don't want to have to go out and buy all new software.  Is there a solution?  Thanks in advance!

Sounds complicated!  If I repartition the drive and install Snow Leopard onto the blank volume, will Lion still be there?  Or, will the computer basically have two operating systems that I have to go back and forth from.  Is this something a novice like myself can do?

  • Can't install CF9(dev) over XAMPP

    Hello, everyone.
First time in this forum.  I've never installed CF Server before.
I'm trying to install CF9 Developer over XAMPP Apache, and I'm getting an error.
    SYSTEM:
Windows XP / SP3; 1Gig RAM; PLENTY of hd space
XAMPP 1.7.7 (Control Panel 2.5) installed to D:\xampp (D:\xampp\apache\conf and D:\xampp\apache\bin\httpd.exe for config directory and bin - I have no room on C:\ for this)
XAMPP is running fine, Apache starts with no problem, although I cannot restart - apparently, if Apache stops, something else jumps in and takes port 80.
Going through the CF9 installation, everything is smooth until I get to the part where I set the Apache connector.  When I click 'OK', I get the error message:
"Adobe ColdFusion 9 does not support this version of Apache.. (blah blah blah)"
Apparently, the CF9 installer thinks I'm using an older version of Apache.  The XAMPP I'm using has Apache 2.2.21, which I believe is supported.
Has anyone else run across this problem?  Does anyone know of a workaround, for this?
    Thanks,

Wolfshade, CF absolutely supports Apache, on both Windows and Linux. See the corresponding sections on that in the CF Installation manual, labeled “Configuring Apache web server“ in the sections on Windows (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/9.0/Installing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cdec18a15 -7ffb.html ) and Linux (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/9.0/Installing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cdec18a15 -7ff0.html).
As for why no one replied to your earlier post, I can only guess that perhaps it’s because you mentioned running on XAMPP. There may be fewer people here who run that (I don’t, so cannot help).
Still, perhaps it has nothing to do with that packaging, so do check out the Install manual (I realize that sometimes people don’t even know there is an install manual).
Finally, if perhaps your issue IS connected to your use of XAMPP, a search of ColdFusion XAMPP turns up various resources with specific details, or at least those who wrote them may be able to help if still no one steps up here.
    Hope that’s helpful.

I just want to know how to install this file or to correct this error.
    Thanks.

    @David,
I think it's time for you to consult your Game support forum about the following:
    1. Will their game need the reference to x64 runtime. Or maybe you need to install the x86 version game instead of x64 version.
    2. Does the problem actually due to some other reasons. I think they need to check for your installation logs for details.
Anyway, it seems the issue is now out of scope of this forum .
    Best regards,
    Barry

  • Can I install Windows 7 over Windows 8?

I am looking at a HP 15-g070nr 15.6" laptop which comes with Windows 8 installed. However the main use I want this laptop for uses WIndows 7 and is mostly incompatable with Windows 8. Can I legally install Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS over the Windows 8 OS without voiding the warranty?
    Tom
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Installing Windows 7 will not void the warranty.
The license activation key for Windows 8.1 won't work for Windows 7. You will need a seperate license for that.
I advise you to install the 64-bit version of Windows 7. All required drivers for Windows 7 (64-bit) are available at the followin link. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-15-Notebook-PC-series/6545564/model/7241977/drivers

  • Can't install Server 2012 R2 on Intel SR2500

    Hello
    Hello
I am trying to install Windows Server 2012 R2 onto my Intel SR2500 server, as I am upgrading.
Every time I try to install it, I am given the message 'No physical memory available at the location required. The system cannot continue.'
It was originally running Server 2003 x64, and that was working fine.
I have tried different hard drives, re-seating the RAM, and using only one CPU, but no difference is made.
I am really confused, please help!!
    Here is the system setup:
    Intel S5000PAL board
    Intel FALSASMP SAS midplane
    2x Xeon 5150 Processor
    8GB DDR2 ECC ram
2x 450gb Seagate Cheetah, one storage and one OS.
    Thanks
    Lewis

I don't find it in list for Server 2012. May need to get in touch with the hardware vendor.
