Can't install LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 6.1 on Windows Terminal Server

With my system admin, we tried to install the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 6.1 on our Windows Terminal Server NT4. And we get an error all the time:
-install using the plugin
-install using LVRTE.exe
-install after rebooting the server
But I remember that we could install the Run-Time Engine 6.0 on another Windows Terminal Server NT4.
Is there any compatibility issues with the new Run-Time Engine 6.1 ??
Thanks for your help
Cyrille

Cyrille,
What is the error that you get when trying to install the run-time engine?
Are you installing it from the LabVIEW CD, or did you download it from the web site?
To further troubleshoot this problem, it would be best if you send us an email to [email protected] and send the above information.
Also, try running the installer from the command prompt window, and use the following syntax:
setup.exe/l*v
This will save the error log to the file you specify. Send us also this file to help us troubleshoot.
Thanks

  • Installing LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.5.1

I want to run saved VI's from one computer with LabVIEW 8.5 Professional Development (8.5) on another computer using the Run-Time Software.
After installing LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 8.5 (LabVIEW85RuntimeEngineFull.exe from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/861/lang/en), do I need to do anything else before running a saved VI created in LabVIEW 8.5 from another computer? I install the program, but the only options under programs-national instruments are:
    -data socket
    -License Manager
When I installed LabVIEW DSC Run-Time System 7.1 on the same computer there was an shortcut under "programs-national instruments-" to LabVIEW DSC Run-Time System 7.1, which is what I need but for the Run-Time Engine 8.5 instead.

Joseph is correct. The run-time engine is only for "stand-alone" executables created with the Application Builder (included in the Professional version or higher, or can be purchased separately if you have the Base package). To run a vi in the development environment, you need one of the LabView packages.

  • How can I uninstall Labview run time engine from the machine?

I understand that Labview has not given any provision to show customized 'License Agreement screen'. Isn't it? This is the main cause of my problem. Since I want to show our own license agreement (LA) screen, I made the one using Labview. To show this license agreement screen, I first install a small application which has only this LA screen with Labview run time engine. The customer can see License Agreement Screen with Labview Run Time Engine on his machine. If My customer accepts the LA, I will install the main application further by calling another setup.EXE file.
If my customer selects 'Do Not Agree' to the LA, I will quit the installation process. Here I also want to 'uninstall' Labview Run Time Engine
from his machine since he doesn't accept License. I would like to know how to uninstall Labview run time engine from his machine?
Another way which I could think is to run the LA screen from the CD with Labview run time engine on the CD. I will start installing the main S/W to the customer's machine with LABview Run Time Engine only after he accepts License agreement. I would like to know how to run the Labview application from CD without installing run time engine on the target machine?
Can anyone suggest solution to my problem?
    Thanks,
    Chander

    J-Tek,
I would suggest re-installing the Run-time Engine and then uninstalling it after a reboot. Also, you can download a program called Msicuu.exe (for NT, 2000, XP or Msicu.exe for 9x) to help clean up the registry for uninstalled programs.

  • Windows tries to install Labview Run-Time Engine 7.0...

I recently installed an application that installed Labview CVI Runtime engine.  Anyway, ever since that time, everytime I start Labview, Windows tries to install Labview Runtime engine 7.0.  It asks for a lvruntimeeng.msi file.  I tried pointing it to one that I had on my system, but I think it was not version 7.0 because I got a message saying it was invalid.  Anyway, I don't know why it's doing this to me, but I can't do anything to stop it, so I'm just trying to give it what it is asking for.  I've searched the net for lvruntimeeng.msi files, but everytime I point it to such a file, Windows says it's invalid.  I've only found a .exe file for version 7.0.  Has anybody ever run across this problem.  Or....does anybody have NI Labview Runtime Engine v7.0 in a .msi file?

I don't know why this is happening. The exe you have is from drivers and updates. Download this file and run it. It is an selfextracting archive which will start the setup for the runtime engine. After you have installed the 7.0 runtime engine in this way LV shouldn't ask about it.
The one thing I can imagine isr that the installed application changed a common component, e. g. Data socket, into an older version. A repair installation of your LV may also help you.

  • Can I use LabView Run-Time Engine on Windows XP?

An Application uses LV Run-Time Engine 5.1, i want to use this application on windows XP, can i use the same version of the RTE, if not, what is the solution??

To eleminate the possibility of errors, you need to convert the application to a version fully compatible with windows XP, like 6.1 or 7.0 (6.02 should do it)
Would version 5.1 work with XP, NI do not gaurantee that. However, I had installed apllications written in version 5.1.1 and worked fine under XP. In your case, just give a try, if it did not work as expected, you may have functuionality that may not be fully comptaible with XP.

The naming of that download mentioned by Eduard may have somehow mislead you, but LabVIEW 8.2.1 was only available as 32 bit version ever. The download says that it works for Windows 2000/XP/Vista 32 Bit and also the Windows Vista 64 Bit platform, but no tests have been made on Windows XP 64 Bit for instance and you would be on your own trying to run it on there. As Vista and Windows 7 are mostly the same it should also work for Windows 7 32 and 64 Bit although since Windows 7 was not available when LabVIEW 8.2.1 was released it was never tested and might have minor issues.
32 Bit applications will usually install just fine under 64 Bit Windows versions.

  • Can LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 7.0 control LabVIEW 6.1 VIs?

I'm attempting to remotely control a LabVIEW 6.1 example VI through the browser plugin on another system. On that other system, can I use LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 7.0? Or do I need 6.1?

Never mind, I should have read the RTE 7.0 information first. I need LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 6.1 to run LabVIEW 6.1 VIs.

    Hi,

I've tried to reinstall and reregistrate windows installer, I've even tried to upgrade windows installer to version 4.5
    I've installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable x86.
Im runing Windows XP Service Pack 3

I have no problem installing other programs, I can for example install labview runtime engine 7.1.1.
    So my question is:
How to solve this problem, how can I make an installation of Labview Run-Time Engine 2009 on this computer that gives me the error described at the begining?

    Hi,
I have already looked at that forum issue.
So I have already tried to delete all keys in regedit.
The problem is, if I continue with my installation, about 10 other new issues will appear.
And my installation will not complete, it will fail.
The installer does not install, it will tell me that the installation failed, and it will only install a few things.
Not all the things that I need to run my program.
See attached pictures ibn zip file to see some errors I receive, I only picked a few of them out.
So when I then tries to start my program I will recive the error in picture program error. (Run-time engine error)
So it's not only that the installer tells me that the installation doesn't go through, it doesn't.
    Best regards Simon

  • Can I run two separate versions of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine on one PC?

Hello, I am curious if anyone knew if it is possibly to install and use two separate versions of the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine on one PC?  I currently have the 2009 Run-Time Engine installed on one machine and wanted to install the 2011 Run-Time Engine as well. I know that you can run two separate versions of the LabVIEW program on one machine, but what about the Run-Time Engine?
    Thanks!

I'm guessing this is a bug that NI needs to fix.  I see no reason you shouldn't be able to install the run-time engine of an older version.  I'd be interesed in if it allows you to install the older development environment, which also includes the older run-time engine.  There are some command line switches for NI installers as mentioned here:

  • Can I use the labview run-time engine 2010 with my LV 2012 program?

    Hi all,
I will receive the new Labview Developer Suite 2012 DS2 in a few days and
I am wondering if it is possible to run LV2012 programs on the LV run-time engine 2010 or is it necessary to update all my clients from run-time engine 2010 to 2012?

    Hi Benjamin,
You will not be able to use the LabVIEW 2010 run-time engine with LabVIEW 2012 applications.  Versions of run-time engines need to correspond with the version of LabVIEW that you have installed.
The following links direct you to our download pages for the run-time engine:
The 32-Bit Run-Time Engine can be downloaded from our website as can the 64-Bit Run-Time Engine, depending on which version of operating system you, use by clicking the link under "Standard Download".
    Hope this helps.

  • NI-LabVIEW run-time engine interop 2010 failed to install

    Hi,
While installing Labview 2010 (32 bit) I got an error message:
NI-LabVIEW run-time engine interop 2010 installation has failed with the following error:
Error 1935. .... (see the .ppt for screenshot if interested)... HRESULT 0x8002802F
I googled HRESULT 0x8002802F and found a page that said that this error is usually b/c of a missing/corrupt entry in the registry: file %windir%\system32\mscoree.dll, and that "repairing the highest version of the .NET Framework on the system will correct any problems resulting from this error."
I have verified that mscoree.dll is not present, and I don't have the .NET Framework installed on my system. SO, I have the following questions:
    1) do you concur with the advice given on the page referenced re: the reason for the error;
    2) If so, should I install .NET Framework, and what do I then need to do in LabVIEW to tell it that the .dll is now present?
    3) If your opinion is other, what do you advise?
    Cheers

    Hi Luke,
After doing some research, there are two possible solutions.
    1) According to a KB, it could be your antivirus. You may want to try to turn off any spyware blocking software such as Ad-Aware, Norton, etc and try the installation again.
    2) Another customer had the same error, and they got it working by installing .NET 3.5 from Microsoft's website and then installing LabVIEW again.
Hope one of those options work for you!

  • Executable not working - Looking for LabVIEW Run-Time Engine

This has been one of those days.
I'm trying to create my .exe file to place onto another computer. I've done this before with success. But that was then and this is now.
I believe I have all the files I need in my LLB, and I believe I did my application distribution correctly and I believe I built the DLL correctly. But when I took the resulting .exe file and placed it on another computer and attempted to run it, it gave me the error message: "Unable to locate LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. Program requires a version 7.1 (or compatible) LabVIEW Run-Time engine. You should have already realized this, you moron."
Anyone have any idea where I went wrong or what step I might have missed? This has been a crazy, non-stop, massive brain fart of a day and I can't seem to remember what I'm missing here.
Amateur programmer for over 10 years!

    Hi.
Whenever you want to use executables or .dll's created with LabVIEW you must make sure that the LabVIEW runtime engine of the SAME version as the LabVIEW version used to create the files, is installed in the target computer.
There are basically 2 ways to get the run-time engine installed on a computer:
    1. (the one I prefer): Download the correct version of the LabVIEW run-time engine installer from www.ni.com/downloads, or more specifically from
    http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/369618104E25B08E86256F54006A4E2F?opendocument&node=132050_US
for the latest one. Once you have the installer for the run-time engine, just install it in the target computer. I prefer this option because the run-time engine is installed independently, so if you then uninstall your program, the run-time engine remains.
    2. Create an installer for your program that includes the run-time engine. To include the run-time engine, when you are creating your application, go to the "installer settings" tab, click on "Advanced" and make sure there is a checkmark on "include LabVIEW run-time engine". This way when you install your program in the target computer, the run-time engine will also be installed.
Just as a note, any computer with LabVIEW on it, will also have the run-time engine.
    Good luck.
    Alejandro
