Can't install leopard or snow leopard on a new hd, macbook 7,1

Hi guys,
I'm brazilian then sorry about my fails in english.
I have a Macbook Pro, I had a 320HD with Lion , recently I bought a MBox 2 audio interface with Pro Tools and these combination don't works on Lion, then I decided to return to Snow Leopard or Leopard.
I Put the new HD and tried to install from original Leopard... Nothing, I receive a panic screen saying that I need to restart and start again, and I Am in this loop forever.
I tried to install from Snow Leopard retail DVD and the same things happens.
I have started with C, with options (this time the boot options appears but when I choose the DVD the same pnic happens) aand tried to start using Command + R, but nothing at all.
Now the incredible event: with my Lion pen drive disc everythin happens normally, I Can install the system normally, without Problems.
Someone to help me please!
I need my Pro Tools working and I hate piracy.
Thanks and sorry about this testament.

I suggest that you partition your HDD using DISK UTILITY.
Slide your Snow Leopard disk into thr Optical Drive.
Begin the installation process.
A window will appear asking you to choose on which HDD you want to install Snow Leopard.
Choose the new partition.
Snow Leopard will be installed in the new partition.
You HDD will have both Lion and Snow Leopard.
Ciao.

  • Can not install leopard on a new hard drive

My hard drive on MACBook Pro crashed, swap it with the same SATA 2.5" 160GB hard drive from my PC.
Booted with the leopard DVD holding the option (Alt) key, I get two choices to boot from "Windows" hard drive ==even thou it is not Windows, it originally has Linux Ubuntu installed on it== and the other choice "Mac OS X Install DVD" I select to install the Mac OS, assuming I will be able to access the Disk utility and format the new HD, the DVD start spinning Apple Logo appear for two minutes, then it switch to a blue screen where it hang forever, and the DVD stop spinning.
Any idea how to install leopard on the new HD

Just get a new hard drive and if you have a Intel Mac, OS X 10.6 disk, it's much better than 10.5, faster too.

    Many thanks

Maybe we can help you better by asking why you would even consider downgrading to a 2 year old operating system.

  • Can I install leopard dvd even if my macbook doesn't have a dvd drive?

can I install the leopard dvd even if my macbook doesn't have a dvd drive?
I am unsure if I should buy the dvd

All Macbooks shipped with drives that read DVDs.
If you want to install Leopard and your drive is broken, you will need to use an external drive or a disc image on an external hard drive.

  • HT1544 can I install Leopard 10.5 on my mini-mac 1.66Gz, intel Duo Core, 512 MB, 667 Hz

My 1st post.  Can I  install Leopard 10.5 on my old Mini-Mac 1.66GHz, intel Duo Core 512 MB, 667 Hz.
    Thank you very much

    Hello & a warm welcome!
Yes you can, but 10.6 would be cheaper...
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
May be available from Apple again, or not...
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4720126?tstart=0
Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...
    http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=mac+os+x+leopard+retail+10.5
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

  • Can I install Leopard on an external drive to run my computer?

Since it seems my hard drive has totally bit the dust, can I install Leopard on the external drive I use for Time Machine, and run my desktop from that drive? Could I run it from an external drive totally dedicated to Leopard? I am buying a new desktop soon, but I need info off of this machine. Can I plug in my Time Machine drive to my laptop and be able to use it without losing data?

    Thanks so much.
    Youa re welcome!
I figured I would have to use a second drive. At least when I get my new desktop I will have a drive for Time Machine for both desktop and laptop.
If you really plan to keep the laptop around after you get your desktop, I would recommend replacing its internal hard drive. While running your laptop off an external is possible, it should be considered a stopgap measure. i wouldn't do it on a permanent basis. For one, as you'll find out, it's quite a bit slower than when using the internal drive.

  • Can't install Leopard onto Sawtooth

Can't install Leopard onto Power Mac G4 AGP Graphic with a 2GHz processor (upgrade).
    Tiger runs splendidly!
    Any sugestions?!
    Thanks
    vasonic

+Just got off the phone with apple support, because I had the same problem. What the problem is here is that the installer looks at the System Profiler to gather this information to make sure that it meets the requirements. Since these upgrades are not yet supported it reads 0mhz processor speed, if it's under 867mhz, it won't install.+
That's is my problem to start with!
I have 2 internal 120GB HD's, the one set as a master runs Tiger and the one set as a slave
have 4 partitions of which 3 partitions are running OS9, Panther, Tiger
and one partition I left to install Leopard.
When I try to install Leopard a pop up window comes
telling me that I can't install it on this computer,
utilities of the Installation disc will read 0MHz.
Try booting from a "virgin" Tiger, just bare OS on the separate drive and partition,
    same thing will happened.
    some solutions I find @ XLR8 :
    [URL] http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/OSX_Leopard_feedbacktips.html#storytop
    But, no joy, just yet.
    Never give up!!!
Yes, processor upgrade is not from Apple, but Apple should be more helpful.
If somebody who had a luck with straight install, can put some words of to this post.

  • Can I install Leopard on my laptop?

I recently purchased a new IMac,20" G5 with Leopard. I also have a PowerBook, 12" G4 that is running Tiger. Can I install the disks that came with my new computer on my PowerBook? Will Leopard run successfully on that machine? Or am I asking for a whole pile of trouble?
Incidently, when I purchased my new Mac, Apple "migrated" old files on my last desk top to my newest. While it appeared to work fine in the store, within a week there was trouble with every application. I wound up having to re-install the Leopard disk on my brand new computer.
Can anyone clue me in on what went wrong?
    Thanks!

The iMac disks are specifically designed for Intel hardware and won't work on the PowerBook (PowerPC).

  • Can you install leopard from an external usb disc drive?

I don't know if the disc drive is fast enough for leopard or something. It's taking forever to open the installer, and when I restarted into the installer it just booted back to my desktop. I have an external disc drive I want to try. Can you install leopard from and external disc drive?

****, I just tried it and when I restarted it didn't go into the installer. I think my disc drive in my old mac mini might be too slow. It takes forever to recognize the disc and just to double click on it and it up. And when I tried to install it the first time from the internal drive it just booted right into my desktop again.

  • Can I install to G4 iBook via Target mode from a MacBook Pro?

Can I install to G4 iBook via Target mode from a MacBook Pro? I have a non functioning iBook DVD Drive but want to do a clean install. Can I use the FW/Target mode to install? If not what can I do to install w/o the OD not working?

was this a std size disc or a funky shape / small cd of some type?
you will have to pull the machine apart, pull the slot drive, & take all the brackets / slot cover off the front of it (where you put the disc in). you can they try pushing down on the mechanical works (holding the drive as it sits in the ibook & face into the slot where you would put the disc in).
otherwise, you will have to take the drive itself apart, usually taking all the screws off around the outside & pulling the metal cover off will get you in to where you can force or pull the disc out.

I can't install my old logic 8 on my new macbook pro. It says it does not support powerpc applications anymore. what do i need to do?? this is ridiculous!!!

Logic 8 will probably run on your new machine but the installation program contains some older PPC code for pre Intel Macs. This was not a problem as all OSX versions contained the "Rosetta" PPC emulation, that is, up until Lion when all PPC emulation was dropped.
There are ways to do this however, try searching Google for:  Installing Logic 8 under Lion or Mountain Lion.

    Hello!
Could you tell us if you are talking about Photoshop 4.0 that was released in 1996, or Photoshop CS4 (PS 11), or Photoshop elements 4?
Older version might not work if your C: drive is bigger than 1TeraByte.

Can I install one copy (license) of Elements on both my Macbook and my Windows PC? The software comes with both disks.

Interesting. After posting this question I had an "Online Chat" with Adobe. I was told that the license allows up to two installations on the same operating system but not one of each. After hearing this I found the clause in the agreement that stated this.
Obviously I do not believe that this is a customer focused policy.
