Can't install Lion with the Golden Master

Hey,
Now Lion is out the first thing I did was buying it of course.
The problem is that I can't 'cause it saids that its already installed.
I think this is 'cause I have the GM installed now.
Does anybody know what I gotta do?

I will be having the same problem ... that is why I am waiting until more information emerges.
That is a smart move. From what I understand, the beta versions (including the GM seed) and the released versions are different as far as the Mac App Store is concerned. Eventually, you may have to get a new redemtion code and download the final Mac App Store version. Otherwise, you could be in a spot where everyone else is downloading an update via the Mac App Store, but it tells you that there is no update available for your beta version, even thought it is the same build number.
I'm pretty much just speculating at this point. I don't know for sure and the developer site is not responding right now. The quote above is the wisest course of action. Sit tight for now and let things calm down.

If it's the same email address Apple registration on both, use the 2nd computer and go to the App Store and find Lion. If different, use the second computer but log in to the App store with the address you used on the first go round. The buy button should instead say install. Then go through the same process again.

  • Can you install Lion over the top of Mountain Lion to get rid of these awful Logic glitches?

    Folks -
I too have experienced the 'help! Logic is running away with itself and won't respond to me' scenario. I thought it was just me at first... I know there are several other folks that are having other problems ranging from annoyances to show-stoppers.
In my case, the biggest problem is that my Mackie Control (original; version 1.02)that has worked flawlessly in the past is plagued with the following symptoms:
Frequently is not detected or initialized when Logic starts up. This always worked prior to Mountain Lion.
If it IS detected, it will get a MIDI download from Logic so that all of the screen text and values come up, but none of the input functions (i.e. raising/lowering a fader on the control surface) are picked up/executed by Logic. I have tried different MIDI ports and cables and no change in the problem.
This control surface is pretty important for my workflow. I am seriously considering downgrading back to Lion, if it's possible.
Does anyone know if it is possible/safe to install Lion back on top of Mountain Lion? The glitches in Logic with Mountain Lion have made the system unstable and fairly unusable.
    Thanks!
    Pete

Turns out that the problem REALLY WAS MOUNTAIN LION!
I had a clone of my Mountain Lion disk in my Mac Pro. I do a full clone every night, so I booted from that, and erased my primary disk.
Then, I used Time Machine to go back to just before I installed Mountain Lion and then booted from the Lion DVD that I had made when Lion launched (see Google for this). I recovered to my erased disk, and 2.5 hours later I had a full 10.7.4 system up and running on my primary disk. This WORKS!!! I have just tried Logic, and the problems I was having disappeared. The Mackie Control surface is now responsive, and I'll bet Logic doesn't run away anymore either. Great tools - Carbon Copy Cloner (I'm a registed user) and Time Machine saved my butt.

  • Can't install Lion get the message "recovery system can't be created"  -see picture of my screen

So I have been trying to install Lion for 2 days.  The screen below is what I keep getting.  Here's what I have done so far...
1.) Delete files (I have now have about 50GB free)
2.) Complete all updates (running 10.6.8)
2.) Disk Utility repair with Snow Leopard CD
    3.) Remove Lion and re-download
4.) Went to the www.apple.com/support/norecovery page, but the solutions didn't seem to help or really apply to my problem
No matter what I do, the following occurs:
1.) Starts installing (says it has 33 minutes to go)
2.) Gets to about 29 minutes and I get the screen below!
I even went to the Apple store today and tried some of this with a One to One assistant, he couldn't resolve it either and hadn't seen this message before with anyone else.  When he asked a "Genius" he told me to delete more files.  But that didn't help either!!
    HELP!!!!

    Hi!
I Have a macbook pro 13' core 2 duo 2.53Ghz and am getting the exact same reaction!
it's been a few hours since i've been trying to install lion. Download took about 2hrs and everything fine until, each time i've tried, announcing  exactly "33 minutes" and popping up that screen a few minutes after a stuck "29 minutes"
    Anyone has ideas?
I've seen a lot of threads and thought it might be because of that Paralell windows 7 i never use. But I even tried deleting it all and the problem persists. I'll be at the apple store tomorow and try to figure something out.
    this is just not fair...
    my screen:
Yet... I'm still really excited about Lion! I'm pretty sure this nightmare will be worthy after all! Thanks for helping out!

  • Help on installing Lightroom 5 on two computers... I have used it on a PC, but now I have bought a MacBook Pro, can I install it with the same license? If not, can I delete it on the PC and use it on Mac instead??

    Hi all,
I just read, that you can't install lightroom 5 on the same license on two different platforms because of different services provided.
Is it possible to delete the PC-version and continue solely with the MacVersion!?
kind regards, and thanks in advance
    Andreas

Unless things have changed your Lightroom purchase can be used on two PC's, 2 Macs, or one of each.  You just need to download the Mac version and install it on the Mac.  You should not have to do anything with the PC installation.

  • Can I install Lion on the latest iMac? (I know that it is not recommended, but anyway...)

I know that it is not recommended to install a previous OSX on an iMac that have a previous operating system... but it would be technicallky possible?
How? I've tried to install a previous Lion image on an external usb pen, and when I boot it through the pen I get a gray screen with a ban icon in the middle.
My iMac is the latest.. 2013
    thanks

No, not unless it originally shipped with ML, there is really no reason to either.

  • I have a iMac with tiger operating system can I install lion with no problems?

if we do the up date from tiger to lion will we lose any datta like pictures and such?

To see what processor you have, do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and see what the processor like says. Looks like this on a PowerPC Mac:
If it says "PowerPC" as in the image, and your processor's speed is shown as 867mHz or greater, the highest Mac OS you can run is 10.5.8 Leopard.

  • I've just installed Lion, with the new functions like full-screen apps. I have a macbook unibody, there is about a year. My problem is that the Lion update had no effect on iPhoto. So stuff like the full-screen function is not an option in iPhoto. Why?

But I had no effect on iPhoto. How come? Alle the other apps like iTunes have the full-screen option - but not iPhoto.

You'll need to upgrade to iPhoto 11.

and all other normal things. This is the new things and I can't install WinXp with the Pci-e. I say this 'cause i've tried with an AGP VGA card and have no problem with the installation of WinXp. I've searched for a solution but nothing....
    I hope you can help....
    Tks.

I've checked and Pciex is selected...
I've tried with a linux OS version and does the some thing, but the error that appears is relationed with the display controller.
I'm starting to think that that is really the problem.
why cant install? what you get? mobo dont have known problems with any PCI-E for now. probably your problem is coused by your PSU. AGP VGA which you are tried guess need less power that your ASSUS. can you give as more details about your system including PSU details? and more details about "cant install XP" what happed any msg ? just lockup? reboot?shutdown directly? using 10 of the same mobos with Galaxy 6600GE(GDDR-3) PCI-E modded to GT version. dont have any probs. possible reason is weak PSU at 1st look for now. your PC spec will be requred.

  • After a clean install of the original OS 10.6.4 on my old MacBook Pro, I'm not able to install iLife with the application DVD. Anybody can help?

My old MacBook Pro 13" 2011 (2.4 Ghz, Intel core duo, 10Gb RAM, 250Mb HD) was running on Lion 10.7 (upgraded last Spring from the original Snow Leopard). As I got a new laptop just a week ago, I was trying to restore the old one to the original factory settings and resell it.
After unsuccessfully trying to restore Lion with the remote apple server and after going through several messages here in the community, I was finally able to re install the original Snow Leopard system from the Mac Os X install DVD that came with the computer. I did that booting the laptop from the DVD, going to disc Utility, making the partition GUID formatted Mac Os Journal extended, and then installing the system. The hard drive had been erased previously.
It all seemed to work well; I had intended to shut down and leave the option to the future owner to configure the computer and perform the additional installs. But to double check that everything was ok, I decided to go ahead instead, and install the applications that were on a separate DVD (AHT Version 3A192, Disc Version 2.0), like iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, etc.  Unfortunately, as soon as the installer would begin to work, after clicking on the agreement and all the preliminary steps, it would quit with an error. I tried several times.
Does anybody have a clue of what happened and how I can fix it? I hope you can help me! Thank you!

You can use Migration Assistant in Applications > Utilities to get all your files from one iMac to the other. If you want to upgrade your older model to MtLion you need to have at least a mid 2007 Intel Core 2 Duo with a bare minimum of 2GB of RAM. Then you need to buy the Snow Leopard 10.6.3 DVD , update with
    Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
at which point you can access the App Store to purchase and install MtLion 10.8 where you would then have access to the iCloud.

How can I re-install Snow leopard having installed Lion? The disk supplied states that I cannot use the version of 'Install Mac OS X'...HELP!

None of the instructions usually given for downgrading seems to mention the fact that you will lose some data in built-in applications, including at least Mail. When you installed Lion, your Mail database was converted from the format used by Snow Leopard's Mail to that used by Lion's Mail. There is no way to reverse that conversion. Therefore, you will lose your entire Mail database. If your messages are all stored on a remote server, that may not be an insurmountable problem, but otherwise you'll have to restore from the last backup you made before the upgrade, and then you'll still lose all changes to the database made since that time.
Another fact not often mentioned is that downgrading is usually the worst possible solution to a problem with Lion. But that's the answer to a question you didn't ask.

Music is not included in the backup (and nor are films or tv shows), only the contents of third-party apps are included. Did you not do File > Transfer Purchases when connected to your computer's iTunes to copy your iTunes purchases over, and/or have you not got a backup copy of your music somewhere e.g. on an external drive ?

I cannot answer regarding compatibility, but there is no download available for PSE6 if you would need one for this.  You might be able to copy the installation files from a disk to some other removable media that the machine accepts.  Upgrading to PSE7 would not be possible mainly because Adobe does not sell older versions of their software.
